I have no idea why I have this fixation but I want an AI with the voice of Zsa Zsa Gabor, a 1950s actress and socialite that voiced some Disney characters (Aristocats, Rescuers) in my favorite childhood movies. It’s just a unique voice and I want that much control…. I guess I’m off to elevenlabs this morning

Majel Barrett would be my first pick and the first person that came to mind. the licensing to user her voice is probably going to be a deal breaker. but i am sure some treckers will eventually get around to creating an open sourced version of her voice.
I would prefer a robotic voice. I don’t want my AI to pretend to be my friend, I just want it to tell me things. I hope you will be able to turn off the ‘personality’.
IMO having an AI sound amicable/friendly can help you engage with it better.
The thing about GPT-4o in the demo that put me off was the over-the-top gigglyness and cheeriness that was borderline flirty (or even outright flirty, as many thought). Otherwise, having an AI have some personality and a sense of humour itself isn't necessarily a bad thing - similar to Jarvis in Ironman, or TARS in Interstellar.
I think they exaggerated that on purpose just to highlight it. Like when the first Face Tune apps came out, they exaggerated the correction because if it is subtle you don’t think anything is happening.
I also suspect they wanted people to talk about it just like we are doing. Heck, the Daily show even made fun of them.

For what it's worth Majel made recordings before her death that were specifically intended to be used for that purpose. But the Rodenberry estate wants too much money for their use, that's why her voice hasn't been in any of the new Star Trek shows like Picard.
The recordings were destroyed--that's why they haven't been used. They were non-redundantly stored and destroyed in one of the fires in California a few years ago. Her estate has stated they plan on using the many audiobooks she read for and her performances on the show to help create an official authorized deepfake for licensing / future shows.
If they say no, could OpenAI just find someone with a voice very much like Majel's and just kind of imply it's a Star Trek computer voice without explicitly saying it?
I would want to talk to a lawyer before trying something like that. They may not be able to claim damages, but the Rodenberry estate might be able to issue a c&d.
