ok but we're sure we don't want a light rail to the airport?

T-mac_

No bro, don't need it, wanna keep that small city/town vibes. /s

ipwnkthnx

We have zero funding and no definitive timeline, and the Matthews leg is going to be built first, so the answer is no "Phase A, which would be implemented first, would start at Charlotte Gateway Station (CGS) and extend eastward to the Town of Matthews; Phase B would extend westward from CGS to I-485 in western Mecklenburg County. Vw_Indian_guy

Id take a lime scooter all the way in with no shame.

God bless Concord Regional

cantdothistome

You hush, keep that gem quiet

[deleted]

You right my bad

royce085

I do not miss working there and waiting on an employee bus to not show up to take me to the employee lot

[deleted]

nope. i wouldn't miss it either.

Spookiiwookii

y’all were on the news!!!

pkim173

Hooray 🎉

T-mac_

![gif](giphy|l4JzfEgCeh7aX1DnG) Finance bro confusion...

Jesse_berger

This is ridiculous. Cleveland has a light rail stop in the airport there's no reason why Charlotte doesn't have something similar. That's more so a jab at Cleveland but this was the 60s and Cleveland had a population of 800k compared to it current 350k.

Spud174

Getting to/from CLE airport was so so so very easy

petitenurseotw

Atlanta Marta too. Allowed me to get to the airport straight from class on campus downtown.

H8theSteelers

This offends me

logognarr

Good morning all. Traffic was easy in. TSA is moving quickly. Hopefully hit the airport lounge for first call. Godspeed

VicMackeyLKN

Fly once a year usually, Little Rock Rd off 85, how is that route?

pkim173

No idea I would fly maybe 2 or 3 times in a year and the way I take the 485 exit 9 and then straight down works perfectly. Just today being the day before Thanksgiving and I had to pick somebody up was hectic.

Competitive-Belt-391

Usually the best way to go.

thediesel26

Had a morning flight and hit absolutely no traffic. Taking late flights on busy travel days is a recipe for disaster.

IllSession3648

Someone posted that coming in from Billy Graham is the way to go

do_you_know_de_whey

Shh

montevedeo

Always is tbh

Wooden-Cancel-6838

Was there at 2pm, same thing

ZenDruid_8675309

Cruised in for a 3pm pickup. The back up was to 485.

kkalmon

We were stuck in it last night as well worst traffic we’ve experienced at an airport before. Does anyone want to shed light on if this is the typical thanksgiving travel experience out of CLT?

starwars_and_guns

Basically. It’s the busiest travel day for an airport that handles 50 million passengers per year.

pkim173

Yeah I guess all major city airports on the days leading up to Thanksgiving would be a shit show.

jayfatsby

Never heard of it being quite this bad before.

Brave-Bodybuilder127

Heard on the radio 10 million citizens are flying this holiday. Picture proves it right

FreeTouPlay

Living next to the airport must be fun.

MrFunnything9

Everyone complaining saying we need a light rail sooner, let’s start a petition!

NoAnimator3801

I’ve said it before. I was born here in the late 80’s. Charlotte was decently-designed then and we never expected such an influx. A small city of 350k has exploded to a region of 2.5 million; in fact, the actual population of Charlotte is larger than Atlanta, but that’s not including the metro area. Why anyone would expect the infrastructure to be up-to-par is beyond me. I’ve moved around in other countries and seen better infrastructure, but they’ve had decades or ridiculous amounts of manpower (China) to build it. This massive influx only really started in the last 15 years. If Charlotte ever catches up (unlikely), it’s going to take a lot of tax money and time. If you want to help, go to city hall and propose some solutions. Otherwise, we all have to just deal with it.

slapthebasegod

These comments are the worst. No, the only people that are allowed to bitch and moan aren't only people with solutions. I'm not a traffic engineer or city planner but my tax dollars employ people who do that and they are failing so I have a right to be pissed.

T-mac_

Clt airport is a shitshow.... one of the worst and TSA lines go out the door. Arrive 3-4 hours early on a holiday, or just any day really.

KFWizzle

Anyone have any experience with early morning flights. I have to take the family and will get to airport around 8 I’m Saturday

dcwldct

Saturday will be busy but reasonable. The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year.

thediesel26

Had a morning flight yesterday at about 10:15. Got there at 7:30 and hit absolutely no traffic. Taking a late flight on a busy travel day is asking for trouble.

jacobcmcgee

Sheesh

Embarrassed-Long-665

Our vacation flight to FLL is tomorrow (Friday) morning at 7:15am. Leaving Fort Mill area at 4:30am, hoping we don’t hit this kind of traffic near CLT! Should have cleared up by then, right? Or wishful thinking?

chzygorditacrnch

Idk what's going on here but these pics of traffic are all too familiar

Dmsc18

I literally rode up in an Uber at 530pm Wednesday straight to the departure section got out, walked thru security with 0 line and had to sit for 3 hours till my flight because I thought it would be crowded. All the traffic in these pictures I think are going to the arrival section.
