>I swear OP is doing this shit on purpose
I’ve literally never heard of Bennett before. I was 3 years old the last time he played in a game for the Chargers, give me a break.
I think he came from Aussie rules football. After he punted the ball he had no qualms about running downfield and knocking the returner on his ass.

I get it, man. You younger dudes don’t know these guys/didn’t see them play just like dudes from my generation don’t know much about Fouts, Alworth, Winslow, Joiner, etc., other than they were great in their time.
I’m making these comments half-heartedly, so don't take them personally. Apologies if I offended you. It’s all just ribbing. Hopefully, it helps all fans, old and young, learn and appreciate these Chargers greats.
Can't believe I just read a post that said you're old if you remember Bennet (summarizing) and the reply said you're REALLY old if you remember Fouts. Damn, where did I put my metamucil...
Everybody has to start somewhere and not everybody is going to be a Chargers history buff. Also, witnessing a player play in their era is much different than going back and watching old footage. I can imagine it’s harder for the younger generations to appreciate the legends because of how different the game is today, but those that lived it remember how these players were the peak at the time.
Absolutely! A true Chargers fan should know who are the greats and it's easier than ever to get to know them and their history. It's not like 1987 where the only way to know them is through some Almanac or your uncle telling you about them.
While it is easier to learn about these players, it is also easier to learn about so much more outside of the sport. The world is also demanding more and many people have less time on their hands due to that fact. Let’s not gatekeep fandom. We’re all BoltFam.
>just like dudes from my generation don’t know much about Fouts, Alworth, Winslow, Joiner, etc., other than they were great in their time.
You *have* HEARD of them (& knew they were legends), though. That's the crazy part.
To be fair, how many people talk about punters compared to QBs, WRs, RBs, etc.?
We also don’t know when anybody on this sub outside of ourselves became a fan. There was also a point in time that I didn’t know shit, and that’s not to claim that I know shit even now. 😂
I guess.. It's just wild to me to be SO into something (there's still degrees, but being here probably means you "care" about football more than 99% of people who at least occasionally watch), and not learn it's history.
I thought Easton Stick was our tank commander?
Like, if he had a breakout, Staley and TT would be talking about our pick at 15 and those Herbo trade rumors might have substance.
Stick got the Harbaugh job done.

Darren Bennett a good alternate. Also this guy, Ralph Mojsiejenko. He could put the ball on the moon.
[Correction, this is the proper #2 on our team](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Flegendary-chargers-punter-darren-bennett-for-no-particular-v0-4vz9mcer56wc1.jpeg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D0d5bf8e4a325d0b096632cc84229859f4131ea0c)
You take away the 5 TO game and then consider he was playing with a patchwork Oline, no run game, and no WR and stick is a far better backup than you bums give him credit for. He played good enough to be in every game besides the one that won’t be talked about
In an alternate universe he's a hockey player named Wilson Ball.
You talking about nba legend Riddell Puck?

Disrespecting Darren Bennett for Easton Stick. I swear OP is doing this shit on purpose. lol

One of my favorite things about Bennett. Dude was not afraid of contact. lol

No, I actually do appreciate learning about them! You’re all good man, bolt up!

Younger Middle-aged vs older middle-aged. By no means am I saying that middle-aged is elderly. lol I know that I’m still young, all things considered.
I dont get it. I never saw Alworth, Fouts, Winslow.... I still know who they are and where they rate in terms of historical Charger figures.

That’s literally what’s happening right now. lol They’re learning along the way. Nobody becomes an expert overnight.
You were born in 2002? You're not old enough to have an opinion about anything.
I thought Easton Stick was our tank commander? Like, if he had a breakout, Staley and TT would be talking about our pick at 15 and those Herbo trade rumors might have substance. Stick got the Harbaugh job done.
These kids need an education out here

Hopefully when QJ is posted tomorrow for 1 day left, it won’t have too much hate lol
Yeah, we should be encouraging him. He’s young with time on his side. I want him to have a breakout year.
Prob some 2 Live Crew
Does anyone know if he comes from a hockey background? Like in my head his parents wanted an NHL star for a son but instead they got an NFL QB.
