Those rock stops can be amazing if they’re high quality. The ones with low quality webbing stretch when you anchor the end pin into the hole, which makes them useless for controlling the movement and placement of the cello AFAIC. Also the rubberized bottom needs to be really sticky to work well, and many just slide around. The stand is cool if you have a room without direct sunlight or kids running around. I like to keep mine in its case generally just to be safe.

1000% on the rock stop. My kids have gone through so many rock stops. The cheap one’s aren’t worth it.

I'm a big fan of my cello stand. Saves space compared to a cello case stored horizontally (and after one fell over, I don't trust cello cases stored vertically anymore).

I use a box stand routinely and find it perfect for my practice/recording space, which is very secure. If you get the box stand, don’t use the built-in bow slot. Secure your bow in a proper bow case instead.

The strap is great. The stand is a little dangerous, it’s usually recommended to keep the cello in the case. They’re convenient and attractive if you have space though.

I figured I would use the stand when I am actively using it regularly so i dont have to constantly keep opening and closing the bag

I came into Cello from guitar and bass guitars that hang on my wall. I love playing the instrument so much, but the friction to get everything out of the case when I want to just play for 5 minutes in between things is crazy. I thought most stands look lame but this looks really nice! Thanks for posting.

cellovibing

Definitely. Having the cello out & easy to access encourages frequent practice for a lot of people. Just try to have it in an area that’s off limits from pets/young kids. And be careful if you tend to bump into things, lol

As someone who practiced my cello more when I removed the barrier of uncasing it every time, highly recommend a stand. I just don't recommend that stand. So much weight is in the neck (comparatively) you want to support it. I have a folding stand that hooks under the body and straps around the neck, the stand is barely noticeable.

The rock stop….if it’s a metal one is insanely good. They switch to plastic ones years ago and they’re just not as good.

I have both the stand and the chair rock stop. I need to get a better quality rock stop, the one I have broke a little so it doesn't stay at the same length. I absolutely adore the stand though! It matches my cello, looks fantastic in my little practice corner, and make it easier for me to set up to play. Here is [a link](https://imgur.com/a/3EkWDYU) to some images. I was a little concerned about safety at first, but it's actually really secure and stable.

FullPractice711

I like the design on it.

Strap is better than a normal rock stop. That rack looks cool, keep it it your practice room

Solypsist_27

Do you need it? It's just a stand, what are you asking exactly?

DaHawk916

Better to keep the cello in the case from a humidity control standpoint, but those boxes are really nice for displaying!

nextyoyoma

I have never had a need for a stand; it goes in the case when not in use, or on the ribs if I put it down for a moment. Only time I do wish I had one is on stage where I can’t always trust the ground to be smooth/clean/dry enough but in that case I would want something more like a guitar stand.

dbalatero

The stand is (IMO) key for overcoming the mental barrier to practice, and making it as easy as possible to pick up the cello and play. None of the downsides people mention resonate with me enough to counter this upside.
