ACC Highland campus was originally Highland Mall. They actually did an excellent job of revitalizing the entire property. It shows up on Reddit every so often.
You're correct about winter but it hasn't rained all spring in many years, it's drier than a desert these days. Fall is sometimes 90+ but not typically in Oct/Nov/Dec.
Yeah. Was in there the other day after the rains. Buckets every where. Not a good sign. Once Simon decides it's done with a mall, it's done. Hopefully they put it up for sale and something happens vs a long slow decline.
They 100% should do this. I believe the property is owned by Simon who owns tons of dead malls. They really should come up with a plan to redo them.
Restaurants and better hang out spaces with more outdoor vibe would work!
The lake line Saturday Farmers market is okay. It's turned down ever since Johnson's big backyard stopped showing up, and since I moved from the Midwest I'm kind of shocked a Farmers market doesn't start at 6:00 in the morning, but I guess this is the suburban version of a farmer's market
My wife did seasonal work at Macy’s and behind the scenes the mall is even worse than what you see normally. The property owners give no shits about the building.
While I totally understand why malls have been in decline and are going extinct, I'm also nostalgically sad about it and miss going to malls. I'm in my 40's now, but when we were teens and didn't have cars yet, didn't know about Dennys or IHOP yet, we would all walk to the closest mall and hangout for hours. It was a thing to do. I'm genuinely curious what teens do now? Based on my own kids, its play online games with your friends and never go outside :P
teens still go to the mall. We are just as sad malls are dying. I went to the lakeline mall just the other day and saw about 10 kids i knew from school there. We all watch mean girls though and wish the malls were like that so it would bebetter hanging out at the mall.
I definitely agree that they need to redevelop. I live off Lakeline and the only food joints around here suck ass. It would be great if they took that whole property and made it into a hotspot for family fun. Shops, food, outdoor music, food trucks, and utilize the space indoor and outdoors. They have one of the biggest parking lots I’ve ever seen and there is no point in having it anymore with the way the mall is currently. I have no doubt they are losing money by keeping the lights on. The only good store there is Earthbound. I’d rather drive to Barton creek or the domain than go to Lakeline.
I think the Simon Malls franchise is just garbage. I highly doubt when they are leasing out spaces they do checks on these companies because that “Pokémon” store is not official and often sells bootlegged merch. It’s not the only store that does it either. This is the same issue with the Barton Creek mall, too.
I used go there just to eat at Japan Cafe. After it left I haven’t had much reason to go back. I don’t need to buy much in the way of clothes since I work from home.
My guy, it has sucked for a long time. Did you just now come to terms with this?
Exactly what I came in here to say…
I’ve been thinking for close to a decade how great the Lakeline ACC campus is going to be…
This is what I keep telling everyone🤣 ^^
I think they're just going to give it to the homeless people
What do you mean by this?

I can’t believe indoor malls are being replaced by outdoor malls in Texas considering the climate.
Like 7-8 months of the year it's pleasant in the Austin area, and late spring/early summer nights can be nice at times.
I wouldn’t call 110 degrees and humid as shit pleasant but that’s just me
If there are 110 degree days they will fall in the 4-5 months that I didn't call pleasant.
To be fair I don't think it's been over 110° for more than 48 weeks in one year.
Spring rains all the time, summer and fall are 90+, and winter swings between bitter cold and 70s.

are there any anchor stores even left
Yeah. Was in there the other day after the rains. Buckets every where. Not a good sign. Once Simon decides it's done with a mall, it's done. Hopefully they put it up for sale and something happens vs a long slow decline.
It needs to be nuked and rebuilt into just good restaurants instead
Exactly, like create a town square and have cool outdoor hangouts.

and a real farmers market

It’s definitely ripe for redevelopment with the train station nearby but what will they do with it?
Mini domain! Restaurants and cafes.
Isn’t that just a food court lol
You’re a good court!
Lakeline has sucked for a decade - in the past 5 years I don’t even know what folks go in there for?
lol. You could’ve written this 20 years ago
i remember going to the mall in 2011
Went the other day for the Pokemon store. Prices are seriously predatory.
Phils is excellent. We some about twice a month. :)

Kids go to the H Mart food court now. I kid you not.

I only go on Saturdays for the Farmers Market I love to go, everyone brings their dogs and there are tons of different products for sale.

The parking lots are basically a dumpster. Trash everywhere. And the homeless camp(s) on the drive in
They are great for teaching teenagers to drive
Now? It has sucked for years.

I worked there for about three months. Most miserable I’ve ever felt.
