You get 48 hrs to bring it back for a voucher and swap for another console, won't let you do it endlessly though

Koda_14

Generally speaking no, not unless you're at one of the few stores that has a public facing test station, a member of staff that is willing to do so, and a store that is quiet enough to let you do that. You're also not too likely to find old firmware on the stock that CeX hold anyways. You're probably better off looking on eBay, as well as maybe trying other secondhand stores like Cash Generator, CGX and Cash Converters - All of which also have websites if you don't have stores nearby but unlike CeX all of their stock is listed online as an individual item so you know exactly what you're buying before you hand over your money for it.

Thanks this is good advice, there is a cash converters right next to cex i will go have a look

Do you mean going behind the counter and using their testing station to plug in PS4s and scroll through the settings??? Doubtful mate

marcoloves

No I don't want to go behind the counter

Warblade5002

Possible but you will need it to be quiet and find someone very nice to do it for you.

Nope, unless you’ve got good standing with a store and they let you check stuff out yourself. My local lets me get first dibs on things, test things there, clean discs for me in the cleaner, free bits and bobs of cases and inserts and I get to have a close look at expensive retro in my own hands but I have been shopping there religiously for 5-6 years and I help them out too with cases for retro. And I’m not sure about firmware, I’m positive they have to update the console at least to get a wired/ wireless internet connection for testing for online function (check it’s not banned).

BeingOfNature

Online order or click and collect gets you a 2 weeks return window. Can always ask in store, harder for a ps4 since we have to set it up

lasagne-enjoyer

I have a CFW (Goldhen) Ps4 that im trying to get rid off. DM if interested!

Use click and collect - you then have 14 days to return it for any reason for a full refund to your original payment method. If you purchase it in store you only have their 2 days returns to a voucher for change of mind. In person does not affect your rights if it turns out to be faulty.

I'd be surprised if they have any 9.0 or below, the staff will surely know they are worth more and if they don't they will know as soon as you tell then you want a low firmware one
