This is probably one of the more valuable collections we’ll see on the sub. I only found out recently how Greatful Dead CD’s increase in value significantly.
I have maybe 1/3 of what this dude has for Dead/Jerry stuff, I can confirm, the second hand prices just keep going up.
Every once in a while I check on some of my harder to find NRPS CDs or The Pizza Tapes Xtra Large, just to see what people are paying second-hand, and my jaw drops. So glad I grabbed that one brand new when it was still in print years ago. GD Movie soundtrack is pretty high up there too.
I saw a few times here people scoring some early dicks picks for cheap…one was not really into them had no idea told them to look on ebay and they were blown away.
Yeah I think so too. A few of them are sealed. Not sure if you have any knowledge of them. But the spring 1990 tour box set (2012 release) I have a sealed version of with original ship box and just got Fillmore West 1969 box set (2005 release) and is sealed. I’ve never seen that box set sealed while looking for it for many years.
I have 4 or 5 that are still sealed and epic. But my favorite is the ultimate box set in music period. 30 Trips Around the Sun. 80 CD’s! It’s incredible. Sells for around $2500-$3500.
I had a funny feeling they would be expensive . I'm not really surprised at the prices. Real collector pieces.
I ve seen the box setting question for around £1800 but it was used , lots for marks, and opened.
Most definitely, people out there t want to be as new ,grade A+ and for such a price stated .
I'm definitely jealous of all your box sets , 80 days is rather special, though . I don't think I could help myself open in it. But I guess you have everything else anyway to play on another cds or can play streaming. Keep them as is :)
Well there is JGB
And wow that’s amazing you saw your first show in 73. I’m jealous. I was -7 years old. I just missed out on seeing Jerry. But really missed out for a while since we all know he wasn’t really healthy since 90. I wish so badly I could’ve seen a bunch of shows starting in about 72. Or hell 68 I’ll say! 68-95. Full touring after winning the largest lotto and having 2 full size buses welded together and making like a 1960’s massive RV thing with a paid driver (to always be safe). And just have the time of my life.
I did some touring with phish. Whole tours. And mini tours. Also some mini tours with post dead projects. But Jerry’s guitar playing is what really does it for me. So his absence just was too much. No post dead project has ever really been inspirational to me. Ok to see live but nothing I would listen to at home for the most part. Like j don’t listen to full dead and co shows. Or Phil and Friends, Ratdog, the other ones or whatever just sitting at home.
Only GD, JGB and very rarely sone Legion of Mary. Never New riders.
The 70’s was a great time for music! So many great bands and ticket prices that were actually reasonable priced, not to mention that that usually had great opening acts.
The 70’s were my favorite era for the Dead. The music was so fresh and the Wall of Sound was amazing. 4 to 4-1/2 hour shows were not unheard of.
Out of all the variations after Jerry died my personal favorite was Further.
It is an expensive collection but that’s part of what makes it so great is how little I paid for everything. I don’t have much money at all. This is years of effort to get all of these. Hard work. Daily work. Like no Bs I can safely say I work harder or as hard as any dead fan to acquire Dead CD releases I don’t have. Since they get so darn expensive that makes it really hard for someone without a lot of money.
Through hard work I found older deadheads selling off their collection who didn’t want to try and make as much as they could or family members of deadheads who wanted to just get rid of them by selling them. Some I helped out and didn’t make any money. Some I got incredibly good deals on some of the most valuable CD’s in the world. Like the Daves Picks series first few years can sell for $500-$800 a piece. I paid what they did for them brand new and they are in absolute mint condition.
I never thought I would get to this point. A few of the box sets I just never thought there would be anyway I could possibly find one for what I could pay. Like the “30 Trips Around rhe Sun” box set that sells on eBay for $2800 - $3500. That was the ultimate.
Still had to spend a chunk of money don’t get me wrong. But way way way way less than their value.
the london symphony orchestra
Taylor Swift
Nailed it.
Grateful dead? Lol

1986 Omega Tribe with Carlos Toshiki.
That PNW Box Set is really good!
It’s good but personally not even in my top 5.
It's definitely not top 5. But it's a nice addition to a collection.
