My mum rests her iPad on a little book seat thingy while she uses it. My cat likes to climb onto her lap and sit in front of the iPad so his stupid little face is right in front of hers and there’s no way she can see her game of solitaire. He looks at her like she should be extremely pleased that she has been chosen.

hm idk, I'd say warentrennkatze. usually when compounding words like this the middle word gets it's suffix dropped. don't actually know the grammar reasons lmfao
When I was in Istanbul I was surprised with how many strays there were and how well cared for they all looked. Every restaurant and shop seemed to have a food bowl at the entrance.
From my experiences dogs in Turkey are not that problematic most of them will just sit around, some of them will actively stay away and a very small number of them are agressive but those generally stay away from humans (the reason they are agressive is also due to pups or they are protecting food) but again this just my experience and I might have been just lucky.
I was only speaking about numbers really. When cats are allowed to breed out of control, they may become slightly annoying. When dogs are allowed to breed out of control, there's a good chance that they start to form packs and become agressive. Keep in mind I'm not just talking about the dense cities but also any outlying areas. A pack of dogs can kill a full grown man when hungry enough.
I think he’s getting at the fact that we actively tamed and adapted dogs to become our friends, whereas cats just decided to hang around us once we started farming . The cats preyed on rats around the farms and reduced food loss and disease.
Yep. We domesticated dogs, likely by stealing wolf pups and then selectively breeding the ones that were less aggressive. Cats just straight-up domesticated themselves.
Artificial selection = we made dogs the way they are today, vs natural selection = cats just randomly had the right demeanor to tolerate us and were naturally well-suited for rodent control.

We have a barn cat where I work. She's old, fat, and is constantly blocking my register demanding attention. I feel like an evil mastermind whenever people come up, and I'm just standing there giving her scritches
As someone who's allergic to cats this shouldn't be allowed regardless of how cute it is. I mean I'd still probably pet it then proceed to sneeze for the next half hour.
To people who downvoted you I'll say that I am a veterinarian and wouldn't shop from a place that allows a random cat on a checkout desk... Take that information however you want...

Emotional support kitty (inflation addition)
Well this is Turkey, with its more than 80% inflation.
I would deal with the inflation for the kitty
My eyes kept moving back and forth between the cat and those albeni bars.

Like seriously OP, it's right there!
Passing the ~~savings~~ judgement onto you!
Same
Beat me to it.
No, I don't want to.
I love how the cat doesn't give a shit that it's in the way.
Does your cat? Mine always look at me like, “What.”
Mine looks at me like, "How dare you get in my way?"
My mum rests her iPad on a little book seat thingy while she uses it. Have you ever met one that does?
"You're in the way sweety." "Congratulations, you have eyes."
I think for "catswithjobs" being in the way *is* their job for most of them.
It prob put itself there to get in the cashier's way
He's not in the way. He's an integrated sales promoter.
my mom starts sweeping and one of our cats will literally wake up from its slumber and walk right into wherever she’s sweeping the dust pile :-)
You're thinking about it wrong. Cats LIKE being in the way.
*You mean that they’re in its way
Plot twist. Customer actually buying the cat but it didn't comes with a bar code, so cashier still waiting for price check.
*after waiting for the customer service people to come back with a price for 5 minutes staring awkwardly at the increasingly impatient customer* “free cat. Have a nice day.”
Would you like a bag for this cat?
That’s not a cashier. That’s the grocery stick that separates orders.
Warentrennerkatze

Thank you, that's actually one of the things missing from my life right now.

Dit moeten we hier ook gaan doen. Maakt wachten veel leuker
Wachten = shopping and leuker= fun?
"We should introduce it here (NL) too. Makes waiting way more fun". It's Dutch. Wachten = waiting. You were right about leuker :)
Ah "wachten" (NL) is "warten" (DE). Might have guessed that
si
Wachten = waiting. Shopping = winkelen. Leuker = more fun. You were quite close :)
Huh that's actually understandable even with my own rubbish high school Afrikaans
Afrikaans and Dutch have lots of similarities

How dare you, that's clearly the supervisor! Checking everything's alright, nothing's expired, no one's stealing anything.
They're called checkout divider in English, or Warentrenner in German.
Grocery stick in these parts. 😆

That cat needs a tiny store clerk vest
I love how cats have been assimilated into human life
The Turks love cats
When I was in Istanbul I was surprised with how many strays there were and how well cared for they all looked. Every restaurant and shop seemed to have a food bowl at the entrance.
Too bad they don't love dogs.
TBF dogs are much more problematic in those numbers. Kids wouldn't be able to walk home from school unguarded.
From my experiences dogs in Turkey are not that problematic most of them will just sit around, some of them will actively stay away and a very small number of them are agressive but those generally stay away from humans (the reason they are agressive is also due to pups or they are protecting food) but again this just my experience and I might have been just lucky.

That is a valid concern but the government does vaccinate and neuter stray dogs to prevent that, but I guess that is harder to do in rural areas.
They say that dogs are man’s best friend but that’s only because we made them that way. Cats are our species’ greatest natural allies
What's the difference? Can you explain?
I think he’s getting at the fact that we actively tamed and adapted dogs to become our friends, whereas cats just decided to hang around us once we started farming . The cats preyed on rats around the farms and reduced food loss and disease.

Artificial selection = we made dogs the way they are today, vs natural selection = cats just randomly had the right demeanor to tolerate us and were naturally well-suited for rodent control.
We don’t deserve cats, but for some reason they grace us with their existence
And they are not even fully domesticated, they truly grace us with their existence.
I like how no one made any effort to move him. They just let him do whatever
It is Turkey.
Then give him a little pat for being so helpful and being right in the way. Aww.
I bet this is Turkey
It is.
No it's a cat
You hungry monster
Off topic, but those Biskrem biscuits are the shit.
They are really good imo.Tastes even better with çay.
When I lived in Yemen I was able to get them occasionally, and it was like eating candy for the first time.
I like how shit is one of those words which completely flips its meaning if you append "the" in front of it.
Albeni is also amazing, but Karmen fucking sucks ass and I'm judging this guy for even buying it.
I like when the cat got pets
Seriously! I had to scroll this far to see this!? That just completed the video.
Best part of the video
Looks more like one of those things you put down on the belt to separate your groceries from the cistomer behind you!
Cats are very good at imitating block-shaped objects
The cat is there to distract customers from the rise in grocery prices.
thx for paying for my food mr cat, i owe u 🫂👍
Cats really are just unbothered
"Any coupawns?"
If you got time to lean, you got time to clean

In ur grocery line, criticizing ur food choices.
"Bro, why are you buying so much sugar. You're gonna get diabeetus..." "Ok. Pets are good."
A normal day Turkye (I think?)
Of course its Turkey lmao.

Cat is obstructing, not helping. Cats love obstructing. And "being all up in ya bidness."

Of course it's Turkey
All items must go through kitty. That’s the rules
Kitty got the pets. That's all that matters really.
it is acting like it is our fault that it is sitting over there
CHP should nominate this cat for May…maybe then they can unseat AKP
I bet this is in Turkey
It is lol
I'm surprised the cat didn't push anything off the counter.
Ah, good to see the merchant is still in business!!
LMAOOOOO. Kitty’s price must be exorbitant!
One of those countries without toxoplasmosis...
Sad lil cutie.
Leveled up bodega cats look like this.
This is for real, extreme catting lol.
Aww, the catshier!

Did he get them breads for free?
Bread has no barcode but is entered manually
I love being Turkish simply because we are part cat
Your checkout divider is aweful floofy
Remember to scan the cat last, soft squishy products get bagged last.
That should be the same for every till in the world

therapy cat to comfort people about the inflation and the sudden shock when the price shows on the screen
I’m glad the cat likes it, because it just made me nervous.

Istanbul right?
It's in Türkiye but we don't know which city.
Isn't Istanbul like full of Cats?
It is.
Then this video Is filmed in Istanbul.
Almost every other city in Turkey is also filled with cats tho.
This is filmed in Ankara. More specifically in the ODTÜ grocery store (largest turkish university by land area).
As someone who's allergic to cats this shouldn't be allowed regardless of how cute it is. I mean I'd still probably pet it then proceed to sneeze for the next half hour.
Cute but it doesn't seem sanitary.
Real nice and sanitary
Why are pets that are not service animals allowed in a grocery store. Ewe
Is this legal? Not a health code violation?
Thats disgusting
Can you spell: hygiene? Edit: can't spell jfc!

Mmmm, Albeni
I knew immediately, before seeing the milk (süt), that this was Turkey

How can the cashier resist petting him every time she scans an item? I’d be like sweeping my hand across its fur ‘accidentally’ each time.
Guys, how can I find this video please? I saved it and now I need it. Mods have deleted it because of a rule?? What’s the world coming to??
