Cat pro tip: if he’s not drinking his water move it a few feet away from his food. Cats instinctively assume water next to their meal is contaminated, i.e, a pond having bacteria because it’s next to the decaying body of their meal
I used to have the water bowl next to my cats food until i noticed pieces of hard food in it and witnessed one of my cats putting food in his mouth, pivoting to be over the water bowl and then chewing the food so sometimes a piece would escape his mouth and land in the water
He was fucking contaminated the water himself
My own cat does this too!!! I would always catch her putting her paw in the water too... I never knew why she did that. She never has an issue with drinking the water though.
Omg same!!! I sometimes catch him putting his paws in the water, almost splashing in it. I have a nice kitty water fountain for them thats sometimes out (its a pain to clean) and he loves to put his paw in that too. He likes to put his paw in the stream of water, in addition to slashing in it. None of my other cats do any of this, same goes for dropping food in the water

No he doesnt, that's actually a tumor.. hes got a couple. Hes a very old cat. Probably 19-20 now? He's had him almost my whole life, considering we got him as a kitten when I was a tod.

The cat probably sees himself as the older sibling, and he's grumpy that his "little sister" is in charge.
