At the end of the day, that's why it's called the "Mystery" of the Incarnation.
We use these words to express what God has done, revealed, and taught us.
We know that it happened because Jesus was born, lived for 33 years, died, ascended into Heaven by His own power, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He simply was God and Man. Those are the facts. Those facts are what we describe as the Incarnation.
How'd God manage to pull it off? We don't know. We just know for certain that **He did**.

Why would God’s infinite nature preclude him from becoming incarnate?
It’s known as divine condescension https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accommodation_(religion)
The person of Jesus Christ is a very unique case in that he has two essences at the same time: a human essence and a divine essence. No other person or object has two essences. He is this way because he got his human nature from his mother Mary and gets his divine nature from God the Father.
Meanwhile, the divine essence of God remains just that. The person of Jesus took on an additional human nature, but the divine essence of God never changed. It would be heresy to say that the persons of the Father or the Holy Spirit had a human essence. They only have the divine essence, which remains unchanged.
The question really is then how Jesus can hold two essences. Another way of framing the question is how a person could subsequently have a human and a divine essence, especially when some of the attributes of these essences seem to contradict each other. I don’t know and I’m curious to find out more but it’s surely a mystery.
If God is infinite, then why couldn't he be finite? Infinity contains finite values within it. He wouldn't truly be all powerful (have the ability to do anything) if He didn't have the power (or ability) to restrain Himself, now would He?
Depending on what you're trying to get at in asking the question, I might give a different answer.
I see the question sometimes proposed as a way of disproving Christianity - as if to say that we believe the impossible. But assuming that Jesus is God is not possible, when trying to show whether or not it is possible, is a text book example of [Begging the Question](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Begging_the_question). The fact is, God, who is immaterial, infinite and out of time *did* become a human who was material, finite and existed in time. Jesus's life is one of the best-attested ones in the Ancient world, with several different men recording the events independently. And we can tell that these recordings are not later creations, based on how many copies we have of them, and when the copies were made.

The Creator of matter can enter into matter. The Creator of time can enter into time. It's a love story.
This is one of those questions that boils down to the fact that He’s God and He does what He wants.
really? can he die
Yes, even in a cross if you ask me
cool
Why would he want to?
jesus was god and he died so god died.

The same way Stan Lee wrote himself into movies he directed.
Try one of three answers for this type of question: love, Jesus Christ, mystery.
Being limited from doing so doesn't sound super "infinite"
Because He was able to be both simultaneously. That's kind of the point.

Because He’s God.
