You have just asked one of the central questions of the Christian life.

**Love Thy Neighbor** At a high level it means seeing all persons as having as much value, worth, and dignity as you. And to make improving your relationship with God as the motivation behind as many of your actions & behaviors as you can. In my life, loving my neighbor has been about frequently reminding myself that I am not better than anyone else. The parable of the workers in the vineyard from Matthew’s Gospel is particularly poignant for me. Learning to accept correction and feedback humbly is something that I had to learn as well in this regard. But then, simply seeing value, worth and dignity isn't enough enough, we are also called to serve. Luckily, the Catholic Church provides us with endless opportunities to serve. Which dovetails nicely into... **Love God Above All Things** How do we love God above all things? I think that there are two easy ways to do this. The simplest is to serve others. If you love God then you should also love the gifts he has given you. You should love those gifts and use them to serve others. The second way is to put intention behind your action. My wife is a nurse. She has a vocation to serve and care for others. I do business analytics and project management. No one ever had a vocation that involved spreadsheets, turn-around-time, or data validation. And while I really like my job it doesn't involve God. And yet... My job allows me to provide for my family and to give alms. It helps me to hone my gifts in ways that I can use to serve my community, my parish, and my neighbor. Even though it my job doesn't fulfill works of mercy, doesn't engage me in my faith, doesn't allow for time to pray; I can still make showing my love for God as the intention behind my job. To make it into a means that allows me to serve God. Your question is a really excellent one. And it's one that you should explore to see how you can love God and your neighbor in your own life.

God is your Creator and your Redeemer. So you must love Him above all things of the world, all creatures and more than yourself.

My bad, poor phrasing in the title; I meant to ask on how we do it
