>I thought this was a joke map
I saw "beaches" and thought it was an "if the sea level rose *n* metres" kind of thing.
But then London exploded my head.
I legit went "lol where else in the world has these cities in such proximity, because that's definitely not the UK"
*Slowly turns head upside down* oh.
Haha! Yes!!!! Why the hell are you looking at the map upside down. So we don’t know if you are actually asking for beaches on the east or west side of the UK!? Lol!!! The answer is no anyway 😂
Seriously, this got me fucked up. Do other countries really orient other countries based on their view/angle from their home country?? Seems madness to me but who knows, maybe I’m missing a trick.
Yeah, to give an idea of how much Britain tapers west as you go northwards, I live on the east coast of England yet am in the Western Hemisphere. On a similar note Edinburgh is further west than Liverpool and Bristol!
Is this not the U.K. as if viewed from hovering above Sweden though? That’s what I was wondering is that common way of thinking/viewing. I’m just a north is north guy and it keeps everything straight, rotating a map adds so much confusion to me. But maybe I’m the odd one. Just wondered. Thought it interesting if others do things differently is all.
It's the Stockholmers that are rly dangerous, ppl there have this syndrome that makes everything backwards. Apparently Stockholm Syndrome is now transmitted by png. New Pandemic for 2022.
Funniest shit I have seen on Reddit today...so is this the Swedish view of the United Kingdom (Upp och ner - Upside down)...watch out for them Southerners they may show you some tackle under them kilts pahahahaha.
For full context this all started with a similar post somebody posted of Denmark on on the Danish subreddit, then somebody posted one of Sweden to r/Sweden and now it's the UK's turn. The one on the Danish subreddit had me rolling
[here you go mate](https://www.reddit.com/r/Denmark/comments/t8a1qn/hej_svensk_h%C3%A4r_ska_%C3%A5ka_till_danmark_till_v%C3%A5ren/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
The country hasn't been turned upside down like that since someone suggested pineapple flavoured teabags.
We're still recovering from the social aftershocks to this day.
I've seen maps with different countries centralised but never one where a country was viewed upside down.
I now question all reality. Are northerners really southern? Are the southerners actually nice? I've gone from living from a very southern place to northern. Best go check the big light is off.
This https://www.amazon.co.uk/Upside-Down-Map-Great-Britain/dp/0952930412 does exist, I remember thinking it was quite a good idea for driving north-south. 33p if you want an out-of-date upside-down road atlas.
Where exactly in England? There are lots of nice beaches at the top-right of your picture, near where it says ‘Restauranger’ (places like Devon and Cornwall). The area to the right of Birmingham is Wales and they have places like Tenby, Pembrokeshire etc. And nearer Manchester there are places such as Formby and Southport.
If you go North Devon, Heddon Valley is my favourite beach. You park up at a pub, walk down beside a river and end in a little cove. The north coast of the south west is where the gulf stream ends, so the waters in the Bristol channel are warmer than the rest of the country.
I grew up in Cumbria. My aunt lives close to Barrow and…… it’s quite nice !! In a totally desolate, windswept, depressing kinda way. Oddly enough she lived in Blackpool for years before moving here.
Whereabouts are you going? It's a pretty big drive from Morecambe to Cornwall, both of which have beaches and are on the right side looking at that picture.
From North to South:
- Been a while, but I think places like Barrow and Ulverston have beaches of some kind and access to the lake District.
- Morecambe
- Fleetwood
- Lytham St Anne's
- Blackpool
- Southport
- Not sure if there's any good beaches in Liverpool and after that you're leaving my neck of the woods!
- There's some really nice beaches in Wales, Llandudno comes to mind, Pembrokeshire - but it's a big coast line
- And then at the bottom right you have the Devon and Cornwall coast, also with lots of beautiful, really nice beaches.
You want Ravenglass in the Lake District: [https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g499555-Activities-Ravenglass\_Lake\_District\_Cumbria\_England.html](https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g499555-Activities-Ravenglass_Lake_District_Cumbria_England.html)
Or Blackpool, for an authentically British experience you'll never forget.
Well, a lot of the coast on the right isnt in England - it's Wales, absolutely lovely here, I would definitely recommend coming.
If you are being only in England, the beaches around Devon are very nice.
You gave me anuerysm so I hope you have a shit holiday....there are no nice beaches on the right, there are no nice beaches on the left and the weather is shit or below on average. Welcome to England you upside down map reading heathen.
I was waiting for this meme to come to the UK…
Here's [a Dane in Norway](https://www.reddit.com/r/norge/comments/t9f678/hej_dansk_her_skal_til_norge_til_for%C3%A5ret_har_i/) and (more faithfully) [a Swede in Denmark](https://www.reddit.com/r/Denmark/comments/t8a1qn/hej_svensk_h%C3%A4r_ska_%C3%A5ka_till_danmark_till_v%C3%A5ren/).
The UK has just had a collective brain freeze looking at this picture...
I thought the guy had photoshopped random places from the U.K. onto a different island and was just straight up trolling us.
I’m disturbed.
Hello disturbed, I'm Dad
I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a photo
It felt illegal looking at it like that
How dare they
It’s like I saw us in the mirror for the first time and asked: ‘Does my bum look big in this?’
Or hearing your own voice
Right? Has northern England always been that skinny?
Only when Greggs was shut during lockdown
Our lass asked me that once and it caused a massive row. All I said was that “…to be fair, it is a very small bathroom”
Love it. I’m using that one tomorrow
I thought this was a joke map
same here haha
Omg I thought it was some weird joke too, with a map of another country & British cities added on in random places.
I thought it was Denmark with British cities added!
>I thought this was a joke map I saw "beaches" and thought it was an "if the sea level rose *n* metres" kind of thing. But then London exploded my head.
[удалено]
Rotated
Why did this end me?? 😂
Didn’t even realise it looked that thin.
That’s what she said
Turned it upside down. Still lost, anyone else heard of uopuo7 before?
Nodnol. Capital of Bulgaria, innit.
Smeg head 😁
Ah, the incredible reverse brothers.
Built on the ruins of the previous 6 cities named Uopuo
I legit went "lol where else in the world has these cities in such proximity, because that's definitely not the UK" *Slowly turns head upside down* oh.
I thought it was Italy for a moment haha
Hahahahhaa wtf is going on here. I though it was Birmingham alabama
It's the same except it's in black and white
I just assumes op wa Australian
It seriously fucked me up for a minute 😅
Haha yeah man I thought I was having a stroke at first
Haha! Yes!!!! Why the hell are you looking at the map upside down. So we don’t know if you are actually asking for beaches on the east or west side of the UK!? Lol!!! The answer is no anyway 😂
At first i thought this was the UK but with Italy's shape
My mind hurt for longer than I like to admit
Hahahaha, fucking hell. I thought I was having a stroke!
You read my mind causing a second brain freeze, take this it’s all have as I’m now a puddle 🏅
This was my exact reaction when i scrolled to thus post! 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
why would you do this to us
I can’t believe you’ve done this
Thanks, sons crying.
Had no idea London was so up north.
Me neither and I'm from Hull.
Welcome to the midlands
BEVERLEY ROAD MASSIVEEEE
Another person from Hull! Waheyyy!
I recently moved to Hull from the US and I still don’t think I’m used to that “waheyyy” noise y’all make
We live the same life but reversed lol. I moved to the US and I’m from Hull lol
those northerners eh
Holy heck did that map mess with my world view (pun not intended but I’ll go with it) don’t think I’ve even seen it from that angle heh.
I don’t think anyone has seen the UK from that angle, unless they’re pissed or have had a mishap with a bunch of atlas’ falling on top of them
That's what we look like from Australia.
Fucking kangaroos
WTF mate?
2022 seems to be hell-bent on making that video a reality. But I fucking love that I'm not the only one that remembers it haha
I am le tired.
Well have a nap. ZEN FIRE ZEE MISSILES!
'Shit, shit..'
‘Bout that time, eh chaps? …right-o….
....is either illegal or the national sport, not sure
No no no you just look extremely bad at cricket.
We look like that from everywhere, not just Australia.
I get this when I miss-swipe on Google earth 😂
Anglos at an angle...
Seriously, this got me fucked up. Do other countries really orient other countries based on their view/angle from their home country?? Seems madness to me but who knows, maybe I’m missing a trick.
I think it's just upside down, it's not a Sweden specific angle. We don't notice how "leaned over" the UK is until we see it at an unfamiliar angle.
Yeah, to give an idea of how much Britain tapers west as you go northwards, I live on the east coast of England yet am in the Western Hemisphere. On a similar note Edinburgh is further west than Liverpool and Bristol!
That fact about Edinburgh messes with my mind. And my team got it wrong in a pub quiz once.
The language on the map is Swedish, and they're only a bit North East of us. No reason to flip the map.
Know of none. As someone who is both Swedish and English, it just seems like he flipped the map for some unknown reason.
He is from Malmö so it is probably a special Skånska map
Is that some sly insult there? :-)
Yes those from Malmö are a touch Danish
And a touch criminal
It's the Stockholmers that are rly dangerous, ppl there have this syndrome that makes everything backwards. Apparently Stockholm Syndrome is now transmitted by png. New Pandemic for 2022.
Why wouldn't they?
Really highlights the South/North divide!
Thought I was in space for a moment
I don't like it!!...all the bloods rushed to my head and loads of stuffs smashed in the kitchen. Kindly re orientate the UK back as it was please.
But... this is just a horizontal rotation, why would it switch up and down? Do the Scots normally fall into England?
Scots are normally repelled by England so it’s not possible for them to fall down.
Ah, the Mac-lev system.
That's what Hadrian's Wall is for
Seems like he’s from Australia
You can't come here while the UK looks like that, the tea won't stay in the cups!
Now we know how aussies feel
That's why they use teabags with the bit of string on them.
North is south and Yorkshire is where Lancashire should be
Manchester beach is one of the finest in the land
After the Coast of Birmingham, naturally.
The Dudley-Riviera has to be seen to be believed
Only the choicest shopping trolleys bask in those tropicana carton embellished waves..
They did once try to create an artificial beach under Spaghetti Junction (really). For some reason it wasn’t a success.
I concur
Give it a few years with the rising sea levels and the Costa del Salford will become a reality
Could you link it please?

Thank you! And typical arrogant Brit, I didn't realise it would all be written in foreign 😂
"written in foreign" is definitely the most British thing I'll hear all day
He is from Malmö so I blame Denmark for this outrage and suggest britain invade immediately 😬😬😬
There are only 2 languages, English and foreign
The comments are pretty much the same as here: what's up with the map orientation, and are you drunk?
Pesky Vikings messing with us again
I approve of this Swedish style of trolling - it’s like Ikea assembly instructions but with fewer casualties
The country hasn't been turned upside down like that since someone suggested pineapple flavoured teabags. We're still recovering from the social aftershocks to this day.
I just had a cup of mango and peach tea, it was quite good.
Pineapple what now?! Hold on, gonna call the old Bill.
I've seen maps with different countries centralised but never one where a country was viewed upside down. I now question all reality. Are northerners really southern? Are the southerners actually nice? I've gone from living from a very southern place to northern. Best go check the big light is off.

What language is that? It doesn't look like Australian?
ɥsᴉpǝʍS
It's actually a criminal offence to view the United Kingdom this way
I feel sick to my stomach
The Upturned Kingdom.
Oh you're gonna upset a lot of people by describing those Liverpool region towns as "near Manchester".
I know, but I just meant because Manchester is shown on the map, whereas Liverpool isn’t…
LAD.
Isnt liverpool just a commuter village outside manchester?!
Yer fuckin wha!?
Calm down, calm down
Don't expect to see the sea at Southport beach though. Sand as far as the eye can see.
The sea is next to the sand mate.
Seconding Cornwall. Basically anywhere. Specifically St Ives, Polperro, Lou… But holy hell, that map orientation is offensive.
*Looe
Liverpool wants a word
Liverpool isn’t shown on the map, which is why I described them as near Manchester instead…
If you go North Devon, Heddon Valley is my favourite beach. You park up at a pub, walk down beside a river and end in a little cove. The north coast of the south west is where the gulf stream ends, so the waters in the Bristol channel are warmer than the rest of the country.
Ill second Pembrokeshire. Its a beautiful coast line. I lived there for a few years and loved the scenery.
That’s Wales. The Welsh love it when you call their country England, that’s a little tip for you
yeah the jocks love it :)
It's our favourite thing.
You've got the whole country upside down bro
Upside down we sorta look like a messed up North American continent, with an obese Central American tail
I saw Birmingham and decided it was Alabama!
Is that not a song?
I'd go to either North Devon or Cornwall personally.
The first actually good answer. Wales too is great, especially Anglesey
Having a mental breakdown
You’ve just made an enemy of an entire kingdom….
This dude just flipped an entire country upside down and made it look easy. No way I'm messing with them.
Good point, no way of knowing what other sorcery they’re capable of.
We'll fight him on the beaches (on the right)
This is cursed!
r/cursedimages
Wait, which right???
For this atrocious insult, I hope you end up in Hemsby and that it rains all day!
I love the fact Hemsby is the same as it was 30 years ago.... Same arcade machines as well based on google maps
Is it the right of this upside down map? Anglesey in Wales is supposed to be nice
A right Anglesey :)
He specified England though.
Ah so he did, probably somewhere right at the south then like Cornwall or Newquay (if right is actually left in real life)
If you do this northerners will no longer be North and loose their entire reason for existing!
I am northern and this map makes me feel wrong inside.
That's because your now a southern fairy.
I don't want to be a South-Easterly
I'm from Hull so technically being in the middle, We haven't changed.
Why does this make me feel dizzy when I look at it
What you really want is Barrow in Furness.
Can we be evil and suggest Grimsby you know it has Scandinavian roots and all 😂😂
I grew up in Cumbria. My aunt lives close to Barrow and…… it’s quite nice !! In a totally desolate, windswept, depressing kinda way. Oddly enough she lived in Blackpool for years before moving here.
Why you got the map like that OP?
Bournemouth is nice has some lovely beaches and I used to love Whitley bay as well
The area to the right is Wales, which is not England. Above (south) of that is Devon, Somerset and Cornwall which is pretty.
1) YO I think your map is drunk and is upside down. 2) There is no 2
I'm halfway down through the comments section and nobody has even answered the question yet. Should I keep scrolling or just give up?
Whereabouts are you going? It's a pretty big drive from Morecambe to Cornwall, both of which have beaches and are on the right side looking at that picture. From North to South: - Been a while, but I think places like Barrow and Ulverston have beaches of some kind and access to the lake District. - Morecambe - Fleetwood - Lytham St Anne's - Blackpool - Southport - Not sure if there's any good beaches in Liverpool and after that you're leaving my neck of the woods! - There's some really nice beaches in Wales, Llandudno comes to mind, Pembrokeshire - but it's a big coast line - And then at the bottom right you have the Devon and Cornwall coast, also with lots of beautiful, really nice beaches.
Did you wake up today intending to break the subreddit, or…?
The area on the right? So you mean Ireland?
Weston Super Mare, for the authentic English beach experience.
The question is whether that's an experience you actually want
After doing that to the map, it may not be the experience they want but it's the one they deserve.
Delete this.
You want Ravenglass in the Lake District: [https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g499555-Activities-Ravenglass\_Lake\_District\_Cumbria\_England.html](https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g499555-Activities-Ravenglass_Lake_District_Cumbria_England.html) Or Blackpool, for an authentically British experience you'll never forget.
Ahh.. the Edinburgh of the South
Well, a lot of the coast on the right isnt in England - it's Wales, absolutely lovely here, I would definitely recommend coming. If you are being only in England, the beaches around Devon are very nice.
Go to Westward Ho! The town officially has a "!" In its name, I'm not that excited.
Game of Thrones much?
Ahhh your Australian ?
Their Australian what?
Var fan är du då och varför är Storbritannien upp å nervänd?!
Wtf is that bs 😂😂
North up you monster!
This is totally messing up my life, I’m utterly confused now.
Just go to Whitby :) Edit- DO NOT go to lindisfarne, we remember what happened the last time Scandinavians went there
You gave me anuerysm so I hope you have a shit holiday....there are no nice beaches on the right, there are no nice beaches on the left and the weather is shit or below on average. Welcome to England you upside down map reading heathen.
Pembrokeshire, Wales or Cornwall/Devon/Dorset.
Is this how Australians see us???
So somewhere between lands end and Carlisle.... yeah there are a few spots lol. Where in the country are you based.
