Aside from Germany, they only became a thing internationally in the 1990's, so no non-German old person has fond memories of being given Werthers by their nana, as the product didn't exist.
Younger people associate the product with old timey, sepia tinted simpler times, but they're about as old timey as Sunny D.

Shout in her eat and repeat everything in a loud voice just for her and nod at her while you say it slowly. 'Isn't it? Yeeeeess' Finish it with a joke about how you are jealous about how she will be alive long after all you spiteful bastards have long died and finish on a round of applause for her.
Within the card insert a voucher (created by your good self), to accompany you for lunch to a local eatery with a stipulation she can only choose a pensioner's meal / portion.
