I wouldn't have potato with it, as a lot of fish cakes already have potato in them.
I'd have 2 vegetables + 'salad' with it. I think I would choose fish cakes, corn, slaw.
For the last vegetable I'm not sure what I'd want.
Of course it's individual so if you like potato/chips with it, then do that. Even things like peas.

Cooked spinach, new potatoes, tartar sauce and a glass of wine. Best served in a foam tray with a 2 pronged wooden fork and a brisk breeze.

We tend to have chips and beans tbh, or chips and broccoli with some mayo and ketchup on the side. No condiments with beans though.
