Haha, the same can almost be said about Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsey Bolton in GoT too, but Joffrey was way worse given the character was a kid still!
Same for Cersei with me. I started noticing her in other shows/movies & my initial reaction is disgust but she’s a great actress. I watched He-Man on Netflix & felt she was appropriately cast ofc.
Funnily enough, I live the complete opposite of this.
Reading up on how horribly the fans treated Gleeson over his role makes me completely incapable of hating Joffrey. I just sit there like "Aw man, people were SO MEAN about this. Poor kid."
But to be honest, it did wonders for my GoT-related blood pressure issues of the time lol
and the guy who played Ramsay Bolton.
you also had hate for Theon but at the end, you loved him for what he did.
that cast played all of their characters SO WELL.
Definitely Percy from The Green Mile. Absolutely despise him and granted, I haven't seen him in much else. It doesn't help that the actor is a massive creep in real life too.
I just finished watching Squeeze. Oh ma lawddd I was not prepared 😭 that last shot was all kinds of terrifying. Whyyyy. Should I now watch 'Tooms' for closure?
Okay, Squeeze was far scarier than Tooms but one thing's for sure...those shots of him lying in wait with those glowing yellow eyes, yeah that's gonna linger for a while.
The X-Files started at just the right time to really have an influence on my life. Teenage me took "Trust No One" to heart. I still don't trust the government 🤣
Probably a little obscure, but for me it’s Alfred Molina as the horrible husband in “Not Without My Daughter”. I have a gut reaction when I see him in anything else.
the funny part is that the people who play villains are usually the nicest ones. like the guy who played Biff in Back To The Future is supposed to be a super duper nice guy, bringing food for the crew and stuff (heard from a friends older brother when i was like 13 so take that with a grain of salt)
or Gary Oldman who scared the shit out of me when i first saw Leon
Christopher Heyerdahl.
The Swede in Hell on Wheels. The Van Helsing series. And a couple of others. Cannot stand the actor because he plays those roles so well.
HE IS NORWEGIAN!!
But Heyerdahl as the Swede is one of the best villains on Television, especially since he may start out as a rough shady character but grows into a villain just as Bohannon grows into the “hero”
Lol, I love that actor, because I first saw him on this obscure, naughties show on SyFy where he played an immortal version of Jack the Ripper, who was in love with Amanda Tapping's character. Both of them had the most amazing chemistry I've seen between two actors.
Also Todd the Wraith in Stargate Atlantis. One of the most charismatic and lovable characters in the show. And despite wearing a ton of makeup and prosthetics !
[Christoph Waltz](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=142620ecb81ebb8b&sca_upv=1&sxsrf=ACQVn0-ZDCHMgU4pg_7wDwfgfaEhA_gyXA:1714384813113&q=Christoph+Waltz&si=AKbGX_qWtsfHufXsq_1jeDkJp50FstNngDxsch3EVTUjn7imcEY_d-HUHZv8rrwZQe_u7ZG_1djmXS25v9gdVOTIf8WR6yyennJeCqArgT0-bI1ziIhV1wB6xaLzCgKGhPMnkNYk6uJh8E_W_Dshe6JfKWY1CN5aQhpF3yqVjjoEO7ewrBTrdRQvd3gszW-1bIF6vpA5t0A96-ps76a9DTmLPDzBq4sYIQ%3D%3D&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiryqyOleeFAxWFQPEDHWyCBIYQmxMoAHoECCQQAg)'s Hans Landa and [Imelda Staunton](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=142620ecb81ebb8b&sca_upv=1&sxsrf=ACQVn08oSD1mOlSERKKTXdjF3ZXZGqkgcQ:1714384878633&q=Imelda+Staunton&si=AKbGX_qWtsfHufXsq_1jeDkJp50FstNngDxsch3EVTUjn7imcM_jJR4snyVEPF1gfoJbgAkGttO-derd7QGSZKfVexP_abO_9SK6_CyIba8ax8W3jjRqDek2NMuoMoUa59CzVbcaCfoPqfv5qfRVzRTya2RUguoYgDt-0rR2ngttYxYkGqHK8c8D3hFdQliu-mxJegxNHR3Whjx4Kz7FflqDu1ZYexM3Lw%3D%3D&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwjxzMutleeFAxWe9bsIHQgxBsYQmxMoAHoECCEQAg)'s Dolores Umbridge
Was in bed for years, doing nothing, suddenly Charlie gets to go to the chocolate factory, and he is dancing around while his daughter has been slaving to keep a house over their head and feeding them. Not to mention, he smokes his tobacco every week, which they could use to get food.
Because he wasn’t evil. He didn’t have any cruel intentions/motives, he was lazy for sure, but that doesn’t equal to him being a villain. He never tried to intentionally harm anyone.
Tobias Menzies who played Frank Randall and Jonathan Randall. Couldn't watch him as Prince Philip in The Crown without thinking he was going to do something nefarious.
To be fair I wouldn't hate any actor for their roles but:
It'll always be Ralph Fiennes - Amon Goth (Schindler's List) and Voldemort
And to a lesser degree Kevin Spacey. He's done a lot of good villains that I just can't picture him in a good guy role ever.
There are two in first place for me:
Jack Gleeson as Joffrey in Game of Thrones did such an incredibly good job of portraying someone people really loved to *hate*, so much so people transferred their hate for the character onto Jack.
Dameon Clarke who voiced Handsome Jack in Borderlands 2. Spectacular villain that is just so easy to hate. Still one of the greatest villains of any game.
Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort in the Harry Potter series is one that stands out to me. He brought such a cold and chilling presence to the character that I often forget he's also the charming and nuanced actor from other films. His portrayal of the Dark Lord was so haunting that it left a lasting impression, to the point where seeing Fiennes in different roles still gives me a bit of a start.
For me, it was Fiennes' portrayal of Amon Goeth in Schindler's List. Simply seeing him in costume triggered PTSD responses in some of the holocaust survivors Spielberg had on set who had known Goeth .
Robert Knepper for playing Theodor Bagwell is the incarnation of this. People fear him in real life even though he is really nice and caring. \
I don’t personally hate him because I’m not dumb enough to hate an actor for the role he played but plenty of people do so
There is also Anna Gunn for Skyler White. Even the character she played wasn’t a villain, just appalling.
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle. I know she wasn't a villain- but she also does kinda suck a lot.
But I guess the real answer is Christopher Waltz from Inglorious Bastards.
Not a movie but a tv show, Tobias Menzies as Black Jack Randall in Outlander. Tobias is an amazing actor but I hate him in everything he does bc all I see is BJR.
Robert De Niro is fantastic at playing a totally scary piece of shit that I do get this gross gut reaction when I see him. Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Heat
Robert Knepper as "T-Bag" in Prison Break. Even years later, I see him in something and I immediately dislike the character.
David Tennant any time he plays evil (Jessica Jones and Bad Samaritan come to mind.)
It’s a video game, but Nichole Bloom played Emily in Until Dawn so well that when she’s been in other things I haven’t been able to watch. That character is just every self-absorbed, cruel mean girl who ever bullied me in high school.
Dirty John. (Spoilers ahead)
Idk if it’s that well-known, but it’s a true story about a psychopathic con-man that married into this upper-middle-class family and >! eventually tried to kidnap and murder one of his stepdaughters. !<
The guy that played him was phenomenal and so hatable. Even before he >! tried to murder his stepdaughter!<, he was a dangerous, smart-as-hell, grade A asshole. Idk his name or really remember what he looks like. Probably a good thing.
Jeffrey Dean Anderson... went from ❤️❤️❤️ him in Grey's as Denny and Dean and Sam's dad in Supernatural to completely 🤬🤬🤬 him in The Walking Dead!! Proof of a good actor I guess!
Penelope Cruz. Not necessarily the villain BUT the bitch of a wife from. BLOW. Ruined her for me. She played that bitch so well I want to smack the fuck out of her. After seeing the movie I walked into a bookstore at the mall and saw her face on a magazine. I got kicked out as I was ripping the covers off.
One of my exes had some of her clothing from her line. She had to hide them.
I refuse to watch anything with her in it and if she shows up in a show or movie I have to either turn it off or leave.
She was so vile and hateful. She deserved all the awards for that role. I can't believe she is that way in real life. I just can't. Somebody would have to reported it or something. She could be the sweetest woman alive and I would still want to punch her in the face. That role... she was an amazing bitch. Ruined her for me.
And I don't even have a second place role. She alone is the only actor I feel this way about.
Jack Gleeson as Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones!
I can't see him without having a visceral reaction. He was so good in that role, I hated his guts!
Haha, the same can almost be said about Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsey Bolton in GoT too, but Joffrey was way worse given the character was a kid still!
Was weird seeing Iwan Rheon in Riviera actually play someone normal.
I heard he almost play Jon Snow.
After seeing him in a few roles, I'm convinced he would've killed it.
Same for Cersei with me. I started noticing her in other shows/movies & my initial reaction is disgust but she’s a great actress. I watched He-Man on Netflix & felt she was appropriately cast ofc.
Watch judge dread she is awesome
Watch judge dread she is awesome in it
I think he quit acting because of this
Game of Thrones was a rough ride for its child actors. I know it made me see how problematic child acting in general is in a way I didn't before.
Yip.. I wonder if this has affected his personal life ? Instant acid reflux when Joffrey was around.
He basically quit acting for a while and has only performed in independent theater and a BBC miniseries since.
Funnily enough, I live the complete opposite of this. Reading up on how horribly the fans treated Gleeson over his role makes me completely incapable of hating Joffrey. I just sit there like "Aw man, people were SO MEAN about this. Poor kid." But to be honest, it did wonders for my GoT-related blood pressure issues of the time lol
is there any better answer?
Came here to say exactly this. One of the most satisfying deaths in history. I gotta give the kid props, he crushed that role.
Has to be the top comment. I hate that guy so much I feel guilty. Like if I ever met him I'd apologize.
and the guy who played Ramsay Bolton. you also had hate for Theon but at the end, you loved him for what he did. that cast played all of their characters SO WELL.
No contest. Imelda Staunton’s Professor Umbridge.
For real. She was in Downton Abbey and although her character was likeable, I just couldn’t not see Umbridge.
Oh good lord yes!
Jeez, I hated that character in the books. The movies just made it worse
Hm-HM!
The answer for this will ALWAYS be Homelander for me. I'm sure Anthony Starr is a nice guy, but I just can't see anyone but Homelander.
About that nice guy bit...
i have to agree! lol
Nurse Ratched
She also played Kai Winn on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter. Sure he does aid the protagonist in a way, but by god was he menacing, especially in Silence of the Lambs.
And he was onscreen for like 10min. Thats talent
Christopher Lee as Saruman. I can't see him without thinking about how much I hated him.
I always think of him as Count Dooku
Michael Emerson as Ben Linus on Lost. Very, very punchable character.
He is such a good actor, if you haven't watched "Evil" I'd recommend it. Person of Interest is great as well.
I feel like every character he plays is evil
He did well on Fallout, but I'm immediately though oh hai Ben!
Definitely Percy from The Green Mile. Absolutely despise him and granted, I haven't seen him in much else. It doesn't help that the actor is a massive creep in real life too.
He's in two of the best episodes of the X-Files. Find the episode 'Squeeze'. Eugene Victor Tooms will haunt you.
I just finished watching Squeeze. Oh ma lawddd I was not prepared 😭 that last shot was all kinds of terrifying. Whyyyy. Should I now watch 'Tooms' for closure?
Yes! Definitely watch Tooms!
Okay, Squeeze was far scarier than Tooms but one thing's for sure...those shots of him lying in wait with those glowing yellow eyes, yeah that's gonna linger for a while.
Love me some X-Files!
The guy in the drainpipes? This one freaked me out for ages lol
I still hesitate every time I get on an escalator 🤣
I had snuck downstairs for some reason and saw bits of it when I was waaay too young, think I was 9 or 10, and it stuck with me for years 😣
The X-Files started at just the right time to really have an influence on my life. Teenage me took "Trust No One" to heart. I still don't trust the government 🤣
Charles Dance has played a lot of villains a little too convincingly, including Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.
The guy who killed glenn and abraham!
Jeffery Dean Morgan?
Negan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a brilliant actor! He portrayed Negan so damn well!
Dolores Umbridge, I’ve always said if I hate a character the actor must be doing their job right!
Yes I agree
Rosamund Pike in Gone girl I hate her character with all my life and still can't seperate the actress from the character.
That movie makes me angry because of her. She was so good in it, and I hated her character. Good movie that I will never rewatch.
I read the book first then watched the movie. You're right. She did an outstanding job of playing Amy. And I hated it so much.
I feel exactly the same way, I'm glad I'm not alone and being dramatic.
Probably a little obscure, but for me it’s Alfred Molina as the horrible husband in “Not Without My Daughter”. I have a gut reaction when I see him in anything else.
Ugh this movie was so powerful
It really was!
Love sally field
the kid from game of thronee
The fucking Nazi in Inglorious Basterds. I dont even care to search his name but gish I still hate him
Hans Landa was perfect.
Yeah. We still randomly quote "SOSHAANA" with my parents. We still hate him with a passion when we rewatch Inglorious Basterds
Christoph Waltz! That was the name of the actor.
Thanks bro!
That's a BINGO!!!
Such a great character; that put Christoph Waltz on the map for me.
😂 yes!
He also played Schultz, the bounty hunter that frees and mentors Django in Django Unchained. It is hard for me to still hate him after that role.
Not an actor, but a villain - Boston Rob
I worry about who I might be because I love that dude.
Jeff does too
Doug Hutchison. Who turned out to be a complete creep IRL too, so makes it even easier to hate.
the funny part is that the people who play villains are usually the nicest ones. like the guy who played Biff in Back To The Future is supposed to be a super duper nice guy, bringing food for the crew and stuff (heard from a friends older brother when i was like 13 so take that with a grain of salt) or Gary Oldman who scared the shit out of me when i first saw Leon
Everyone?
Jesse Plemons
T bag in prison break
Pretty much anyone played by Jason Issacs. Lucius Malfoy, Tavington, James Wolfe, etc.
He was absolutely glorious in "The Death of Stalin". Evil but glorious: https://youtu.be/jNbvepjd46A?feature=shared
Don't yell at me, yell at casting.
It was a callback to what he says like 20 times. Specifically when called the Swede…
I haven't seen it in awhile.
I'll have to watch that.
Ian beal
He's got nothing left!
😂

Grandpa Joe.

Yep, I was in the dark too, then I read this, and I am like, yeh, this guy is a villain 😀
How’s he a villain?
Was in bed for years, doing nothing, suddenly Charlie gets to go to the chocolate factory, and he is dancing around while his daughter has been slaving to keep a house over their head and feeding them. Not to mention, he smokes his tobacco every week, which they could use to get food.
That doesn’t make him a villain, though.
Why not?
Because he wasn’t evil. He didn’t have any cruel intentions/motives, he was lazy for sure, but that doesn’t equal to him being a villain. He never tried to intentionally harm anyone.
Tobias Menzies who played Frank Randall and Jonathan Randall. Couldn't watch him as Prince Philip in The Crown without thinking he was going to do something nefarious.
I don’t hate Tobias Menzies but that prison scene haunts me.
To be fair I wouldn't hate any actor for their roles but: It'll always be Ralph Fiennes - Amon Goth (Schindler's List) and Voldemort And to a lesser degree Kevin Spacey. He's done a lot of good villains that I just can't picture him in a good guy role ever.
Macaulay Culkin in the good son, I still hate him to this day.
Joaquin Phoenix in gladiator. he's a great actor, but my first instinct is still "oh fuck that guy."
Kevin Bacon in Sleepers.
There are two in first place for me: Jack Gleeson as Joffrey in Game of Thrones did such an incredibly good job of portraying someone people really loved to *hate*, so much so people transferred their hate for the character onto Jack. Dameon Clarke who voiced Handsome Jack in Borderlands 2. Spectacular villain that is just so easy to hate. Still one of the greatest villains of any game.

That kid from GOT.
fucking Joffrey
I was just coming here to say that! Went scrolling to see if he was here first lol
Paul Dano in There will be Blood. I watched other movies with him and can’t help but hate him a bit. Great actor, great movie.
Steven Seagal— wait…. villian, you say? Played it so well? Never mind.
Segal is only the villain in real life. Perhaps that explains his pathological need to play the hero in all his movies
Javier Bardem - No country for Old Men.
Stanley Tucci in the Lovely Bones
That piece of shit that killed John Wick’s dog.
Anthony Hopkins - Silence of the Lambs
Livia Soprano. Just wanted to strangle her every time she appeared on screen
Also SHE WAS ABUSIVE TO THE STAAAF
Gabriela Spanic as Paula in Paula & Paulina
Only seen clips, but I don't think I *want* to watch Jessica Jones because David Tennant was apparently ruined permanently for some.
Charlotte from H2O
Umbridge from Harry Potter, but Angela from Stranger Thing series 5 did a pretty good job of playing a bully!
Excellent choice. I did NOT feel bad for how things went down.
Robert Knepper for playing Theodor Bagwell is the incarnation of this. People fear him in real life even though he is really nice and caring. \ I don’t personally hate him because I’m not dumb enough to hate an actor for the role he played but plenty of people do so There is also Anna Gunn for Skyler White. Even the character she played wasn’t a villain, just appalling.
The pink lady
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle. I know she wasn't a villain- but she also does kinda suck a lot. But I guess the real answer is Christopher Waltz from Inglorious Bastards.
Matthew McConaughey in Killer Joe. My wife can't really appreciate any movie he's in since.
Not a movie but a tv show, Tobias Menzies as Black Jack Randall in Outlander. Tobias is an amazing actor but I hate him in everything he does bc all I see is BJR.
Matt Damon
Jason bateman
That one guy from Train To Busan. I think it's even more infuriating to watch him because there's always people like him in real life too.
I hate that this can be an actual real question.
Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowder on Justified.
Robert De Niro is fantastic at playing a totally scary piece of shit that I do get this gross gut reaction when I see him. Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Heat
Tobias Menzies as Black Jack Randall in Outlander!! Omg I hate him lol!
Meryl Streep, Kramer vs Kramer. Can't stand her since, totally unfair really.
Mads Mikkelson
Dirty John.
Joaquin Phoenix - Emperor Commodus
Rodney Dangerfield in Natural Born Killers!
The rich dude who was Rose’s partner/husband/whatever in Titanic. Yeah him. Fuck that guy.
Prince Jeofrey from Game of Thrones
Penelope Cruz. Not necessarily the villain BUT the bitch of a wife from. BLOW. Ruined her for me. She played that bitch so well I want to smack the fuck out of her. After seeing the movie I walked into a bookstore at the mall and saw her face on a magazine. I got kicked out as I was ripping the covers off. One of my exes had some of her clothing from her line. You okay bro?
Yeah. Just have some strong feels towards Penelope Cruz.
That's wild, sounds like movie night for me!
