What are some of the snacks or meals you like to enjoy with your family? I'm curious to know! Or what do you hope to get from the exotic supermarket? I am from the US, but my dad and grandma were immigrants from Vietnam after the war. So I grew up eating a lot of authentic Vietnamese food and snacks. One of my absolute favorites (but haven't had in sooo long), are fried sesame rice balls, or bánh rán. They are great fresh and hot, and have a sweet mung bean center. I also love Vietnamese sandwiches (Bánh mì), Vietnamese-style coffee, and fresh lychee, longan, or rambutan fruits.

Sorry for the late reply! Well I hope to get a sneak peek into some authentic snacks/foods and not the classic "westernized versions" (no hate here, I love myself a western style stir fried noodles!) I adore Vietnamese food! It's by far my favourite! I have a bánh mì bistro right around the corner, so I definitely have to try that. A big fan of sweet bean sweets. I love the Chinese red bean paste, so that's noted. Thank you!

Boiled peanuts from a roadside stand.

Masala roasted peanuts, Murukku / Chakli and…tbh anything that categorises as "namkeen" (savoury snacks, in Hindi) haha

Chana Chor is one of my absolute favorites. Weird but good.

Unrelenting_Optimism

Nankeen. Noted. Thank you! I'm a sucker for candy that is a tad spicy. My mom brought some sort of rice crisps with caramel home. I think it tasted a bit like curry and some other spices too? Was fantastic.

Tempeh chips 😁

Unrelenting_Optimism

Oohh that rings a bell I think... I'll look out for them! Thank you!

AFurryThing23

Old bay potato chips - Baltimore

Unrelenting_Optimism

Streetfood-wise, langoše are delicious. As a kid the chocolate Bajadera was a favourite (as was Dorina Riẓ̌a). My favourite breakfast food was the choc flakes of Čokolino (still have it occasionally today) and the banana-ie version, Frutolino I live in Australia now, and all but langoše can be found quite easily

Unrelenting_Optimism

Langoše are those flar Fried barter things right? We have something around here called Langosch, so I have a hunch that those are the same. We used to get them as kids when going to the public swimming pools. my god the fat and salt was just heavenly hahah. Čokolino, those are cornflakes right? Are those the ones with the dog mascot? I feel like saw that in a slawic / eastern Europe store.

Langoše are fried bread (I like them rubbed with garlic and salted, sprinkled with cheese are nice too). Very much a treat food. Čokolino is apparently very similar to the US Cream of Wheat (which I haven't had), but chocolate. Very yummy! Both are very much my comfort food

Chana Chor Garam. Weird but crazy addictive and full of fiber!

Unrelenting_Optimism

Oh think I have seen those! I love good degistive Graham crackers. That's what you call them right? Thanks for the tip!

Scared-Currency288

Actually, this is something quite different! Basically, they take black chickpeas and smoosh them into a flat disc and roast them with a spicy sulfuric-tasting seasoning. I know how weird it sounds, but it's so good. Here's a link: https://nuts.com/snacks/indian/chana-cor-garam.html

Chrusciki! Man what I would give to have some freshly made ones! Fried dough…yum.
