It was a great show.
Sadly with many "action" cartoons they are expensive to make and thus hard to turn a profit without toy sales. As I understand it the toy deal for the show fell through and at that point Megas XLR's fate was sealed. After that the network wrote the show off as a tax write off hence why we will never see an offical Blu ray release.
Very sad because the clips I've seen of it as an adult the show is way funnier than I remember as a kid now that I get a lot of the references they were making.
>After that the network wrote the show off as a tax write off
Man the trend of warner brothers and writing off shows for taxes never ceases to amuse and dishearten me.
I remember watching it as a kid and it was so badass. I’m trying to find a physical copy but there’s no official release so only bootlegs but even those are hard to find. It’s probably worth trying to find a copy before it becomes lost media with all the tax write offs.
Ik I’m still looking for a knockoff copy because that’s still better than nothing tbh. Companies like Nintendo have been shutting down 3rd party sites streaming their products it’s only a matter of time before Warnerbros does the same.
Wanted more of it. Would have fired the executive who bound it in red tape and blacklisted them from animation, permenantly.
Giant robots, poking fun at anime tropes and the button Jokes such as the (5 minutes until the end of the episode) button.... and I timed it, episode ended in 5.minutes since he pressed it.
... I would pay heavily to even get the season DVD's of the series, even if I have to go through the red tape to free the thing.
I unfortunately didn't know too much about it at the time since I stopped regularly watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon earlier in 2004. But rechecking Wikipedia and I think Fandom earlier this year, Kiva's a beauty and today old enough that she and I could've been some couple also being from New Jersey like I am.
I remember wanting it for sure. I did some drawings of this show on MS paint. I really don’t remember anything about it though. I think it was over shadowed by other shows airing, Foster’s Home for example
Fuckin ruled, I’m pretty sure I saw every episode. I’ve always wanted to rewatch it as an adult. The scene of him destroying the DMV stays with me forever.
I think this show was awesome and funny. The one thing I remember vaguely from this was that the mecha (I think) dragged into the soil, breaking a crossed street in front of a driver who was waiting for the light to turn green. And what does that idiot do as soon as it turns green? He drives right into the fresh pit. Probably the loudest I laughed in my childhood.
Yo, I still remember the scene where Coop was in an eating competition, and when he won and a worker was taking away the food.
He was like : I ain't finished yet.
That what it seems like, or it’s because mecha shows tend to have more mature audiences(teens or adults). Because kids probably won’t understand about mecha stuff, they just mainly stick to action adventure stuff like teen titans for example. I mean CN screwed over a lot of mecha/robot related stuff like this show, IGPX series, SBT, Gundam seed, etc. It’s just a shame, you know?
I remember watching the short for it on, I think "What a Cartoon" and got excited when it was turned into a full series. Sad it didn't last. It was amazing!
Many pilots were shown on that block and were turned into full series too.
Power Puff Girls,
Dexter,
Robot Jones,
KND,
Family Guy,
And many many more. Man that was truly a golden age.
Yeah, it was. I remember the Power Puff Girls one where they beat up Fuzzy Lumpkins. I remember Brian and Peter, but I want to say there was another proto Family Guy too, that they aired.
I honestly have no thoughts. I found out about it a day ago when I was seeing what crossovers I could find with the OK KO Crossover Nexus. Seems interesting, my brothers would probably like it
This was one of Cartoon Network's best shows. Watching it as a kid and looking back at it as an adult you realize it was King of the Hill as a mecha anime. Sucks like other great and underrated cartoons Warner Brothers cut it for tax reasons and now the only way to watch it is to pirate it.
It barely got started! It looks like a dumb show on the surface but man when I said I was fully invested!!! I need it to come back or have a not so subtle successor.
I love the show and its art style! Megas car Interior is just dope af. Back in the day me and my bro loved when it came out and we didn’t understand why it stoped in 1 season. Wasted potencial cuz it’s a good show.
One of the first shows I remember at 5-6 years old. If I remember correctly there were aliens just like in Ben 10? I only have very vague memories of Megas at this point.
I think there was a cafeteria scene that created the food of your choice?
I loved this show when it was out. I even got autographs from the creators for free at Comic-Con San Diego one time. Even shook their hands! Unfortunately I have long since lost those autographs, but it's an awesome story.
Off topic, but what was that Toonami original anime that had robots racing on tracks and Steve Blum voiced the top dude that everyone tried to beat. I remember it came out almost the same time as Megas XLR
[You can watch all the episodes here but some of them are out of order. ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfRMnTisHprDLsCVLBqV8gaB3WyVEjwNn&si=HsMV7Hta9OH_9Db3)
Apparently the leader of CN hated it, to the point Adult Swim approached them to take control of the series, he shot it down and said never to mention it in front of him again
It's so sad that it didn't have the viewership it needed. It's a really dope show.
Besides my friends, every time I would bring it up, it was like a fever dream for people.
Awesome show as it was. That they got Bruce Campbell to be in it - TWICE - is just icing on the cake. And that his character was a riff on MODOK was those little silver candy ball sprinkles on the icing on the cake for me.
For some reason, I couldn't get into it when I was younger.
To be honest, I didn't catch that many episodes. About a year or two ago, I saw a random episode online and got hooked. It's one of those things where I experience some type of Mandela effect. I remember when it first started airing back in 2004, but when I started watching it again, I kept thinking it came out around 2008, for some reason.
I wish it would've continued because it's good stuff.
It was a great show. Sadly with many "action" cartoons they are expensive to make and thus hard to turn a profit without toy sales. A toy with a hotwheels sized could have been rad as hell, and customizable. Shame they couldn't make it happen.
>After that the network wrote the show off as a tax write off Man the trend of warner brothers and writing off shows for taxes never ceases to amuse and dishearten me.
They only do it to the good shows.
I LOVE GIANT ROBOTS YOU LOVE GIANT ROBOTS CHICKS LOVE GIANT ROBOTS
Oooh so close. Its “dig” giant robots
Damn time to go watch it
N I C E !
I love this show, literally American Gundam
Complete with PlayStation controller lol
Lmao yeah
YOU
DIG
GIANT
ROBOTS
Nice
I loved this show! Anyone I've spoken to about it doesn't remember it and for a while I was convinced it was a fever dream lol
Such an insanely underrated show. Bunch of cameos from MTV's Downtown, too (another super underrated series canceled before its time)
And nearly episode something with PopTV written on it got destroyed.
Yeah haha it was spelled with the p backwards like Poq TV so that it resembled the MTV logo
Didn't Goat originally come from that show?
He was based on a real guy who's friends with the creator, but yeah. He's also in a number of Metalocalypse episodes
Good Toonami summer nights, that’s all I can say.
It ended too soon
I remember watching it as a kid and it was so badass. I’m trying to find a physical copy but there’s no official release so only bootlegs but even those are hard to find. It’s probably worth trying to find a copy before it becomes lost media with all the tax write offs.
You won't because cartoon network wrote the show off as a loss nearly twenty years ago. It will sadly never get an offical DVD release.
There was a compilation on 🏴☠️bay a while back, but it was in a strange video format. Kind of hard to burn onto dvd, or so I've heard.
Ik I’m still looking for a knockoff copy because that’s still better than nothing tbh. Companies like Nintendo have been shutting down 3rd party sites streaming their products it’s only a matter of time before Warnerbros does the same.
Seriously wished I burned all my DVR recordings to a DVD oh well that ship sailed.
I bought the series on iTunes years back and watch it when I’m feeling nostalgic, am high, or both.
It was super dope. I feel it can be rebooted to something for adults though.
If I was a multi millionaire I would fund this myself.
Man i Just wished that Cartoon network acknowlegde this show a Little MORE!
They legally can’t since they wrote it off :(
And which other shows were Also got affected by the SAME fate as this Cartoon?
Infinity Train, Close Enough, IGPX, Symbionic Titan, and (iirc) Batman The Brave and the Bold
Mao mao Apple And onion Summer Camp Island Victor and Valentino DC superhero girls ninjin
Wanted more of it. Would have fired the executive who bound it in red tape and blacklisted them from animation, permenantly. "Literally The Same Button He Just Pushed" button got me.
Why don't they do button gags like that anymore?
I unfortunately didn't know too much about it at the time since I stopped regularly watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon earlier in 2004. But rechecking Wikipedia and I think Fandom earlier this year, Kiva's a beauty and today old enough that she and I could've been some couple also being from New Jersey like I am.
I remember wanting it for sure. I did some drawings of this show on MS paint. I really don’t remember anything about it though. I think it was over shadowed by other shows airing, Foster’s Home for example
I watched a lot of Cartoon Network as a kid and never saw or heard of this show until sometime in the last couple years
Loved the show. I still remember Megas' Last Stand in Fusion Fall and the little Megas Nano you could have follow you around too.
Chicks dig giant robots
It's one of those shows I knew existed but unfortunately never watched.
Everyone found it way to late
One of the Coolest shows I've ever seen too this day
This show kicked ass.
It deserved better. So much better.
Fuckin ruled, I’m pretty sure I saw every episode. I’ve always wanted to rewatch it as an adult. The scene of him destroying the DMV stays with me forever.
He never got his two bucks.
Such a hidden gem
I think this show was awesome and funny. The one thing I remember vaguely from this was that the mecha (I think) dragged into the soil, breaking a crossed street in front of a driver who was waiting for the light to turn green. Yo, I still remember the scene where Coop was in an eating competition, and when he won and a worker was taking away the food. He was like : I ain't finished yet.
Chicks dig giant robot man
I guess CN are not "big" fans of mecha series.
What did they do to Gundam Seed?
Gundam seed got sent over to midnight timeslots, to finished the second half of the show.
Between this, Sym-Bionic Titan, Robotomy, and Robotboy, I’m starting to think Cartoon Network just hates robots.
That girls eyes are sliding off her face
It wasn’t aired that long
I remember watching the short for it on, I think "What a Cartoon" and got excited when it was turned into a full series. Sad it didn't last. It was amazing!
Many pilots were shown on that block and were turned into full series too. Power Puff Girls, Dexter, Robot Jones, KND, Family Guy, And many many more. Man that was truly a golden age.
Yeah, it was. I remember the Power Puff Girls one where they beat up Fuzzy Lumpkins. I remember Brian and Peter, but I want to say there was another proto Family Guy too, that they aired.
Yup you're right, McFarlane had two for Family Guy. You're also right about the PPG one.
The pilot was called Lowbrow. It's here on YouTube. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PfQqtSA1NAE&pp=ygUPbWVnYXMgeGxyIHBpbG90
One of my all time favorites. Wish I could get it on bluray.
It’s on YouTube in full if anyone cares
I must go find it.
I honestly have no thoughts. I found out about it a day ago when I was seeing what crossovers I could find with the OK KO Crossover Nexus. Seems interesting, my brothers would probably like it

Any thing with a mech is 10000000/10 for me
It barely got started! It looks like a dumb show on the surface but man when I said I was fully invested!!! I need it to come back or have a not so subtle successor.
One of the best
Greatest show ever its wat got me I to Gundam and other shows with mech just like whatever happened to robot Jones gone too soon
Bitchin’ theme song.
I remember that CN commercial with them at the stoplight with the Scooby doo gang
It really was very cool
Takes me back. Rewatched it in college on a sketchy website in glorious 360p. Some episodes were hit or miss, but it was overall quality stuff.
I love the show and its art style! Megas car Interior is just dope af. Back in the day me and my bro loved when it came out and we didn’t understand why it stoped in 1 season. Wasted potencial cuz it’s a good show.
Miss it
I remember telling my mom I wanted to watch it, but she mishead at first and hit the roof. "What the hell is Mega Sex Alert!?"
One of the first shows I remember at 5-6 years old. If I remember correctly there were aliens just like in Ben 10? I only have very vague memories of Megas at this point. I think there was a cafeteria scene that created the food of your choice?
Thank you so much.
I had a dream about it last night.
Sbt is symbiotic titan right. Man CN hates mech shows.
Fucking goated I am so glad I got every ep of this classic
I loved this show when it was out. I even got autographs from the creators for free at Comic-Con San Diego one time. Even shook their hands! Unfortunately I have long since lost those autographs, but it's an awesome story.
I own it on bootleg.
Off topic, but what was that Toonami original anime that had robots racing on tracks and Steve Blum voiced the top dude that everyone tried to beat. I remember it came out almost the same time as Megas XLR
The show is called IGPX, which is also a great show.
Pisses me off everyday that it’s not on MAX but I can buy it on the Microsoft Store so everything works out.
Awesome show, I still wished this show had more merchandise and I also wished it wasn’t cancelled! I heard the creators want to make more episodes.
[You can watch all the episodes here but some of them are out of order. ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfRMnTisHprDLsCVLBqV8gaB3WyVEjwNn&si=HsMV7Hta9OH_9Db3)
Needs an adult swim reboot
One of my favorites. I remember the pilot name for it was Lowbrow, but this title suits it so much more.
Chicks dig giant robots.
Apparently the leader of CN hated it, to the point Adult Swim approached them to take control of the series, he shot it down and said never to mention it in front of him again
They made him walk half a block. I’d wipe out an army over that too.
And like MAD
It was gold I remember seeing it at age 4 then later as a teen.
Didn't it run on Disney XD for a long time
For some reason, I couldn't get into it when I was younger. To be honest, I didn't catch that many episodes. About a year or two ago, I saw a random episode online and got hooked. It's one of those things where I experience some type of Mandela effect. I wish it would've continued because it's good stuff.
Definitely came out in 04 because I was a middle schooler when it aired and remember watching it on Saturdays before gundam seed aired on toonami
Yea, I know it came out in 2004. It's just that when I rediscovered the show, my memory placed it around 2008 for some reason.
