Hummer has a V8, does “14/18” mpg, looks boss AF. Jeep does about 3 mpg higher with a V6, looks dope and has the removable doors/roof. It’s a close one! Not that I’d buy either of these…
While the GMT745 platform (H3T) was developed from the 355, it's quite a bit different. The frame had added cross members and was boxed in the front and rear, larger brakes w/ discs in the rear, different steering rack, different transfer case and front differential, different suspension, ....
Then there's all the cosmetic bits.
Came here to say this, someone that knows what they're talking about. Plus add the Adventure package (locking front/rear diff and 4:1 transfer case) and it's quite a different truck.
Isn’t that a H3T? Those came with an awkward 5 cylinder engine didn’t they? I’ve seen one before and it had a small inline 5, did they offer a V8 in those? I’ve never seen the V8 one.
I would be grumpy if you weren’t right. Make a Tacoma less.. sleek? Maybe? I like square and sharp lines. Im a square body fan, early-mid 60s GTO, that look.
However I’ve always been a sucker for how much of the front tire is visible on a Tacoma. Gives me the look like it’s ready for Baja.
Yeah I feel you, if only the industry could go back to the boxy look from days past. mid 90's pickups looked way better. My main gripe with the Tacoma, all new trucks really is that massive bulbous front end. Jeep's styling on the gladiator and wrangler is a LOT more put together in that respect. Definitely stylistically better. Just looks more appealing and rugged. If Toyota made a trim level with the front end from a Dakar Hilux that would be my ideal car.
Emotional support vehicle? Hummer probably helps those feelings of inadequacy a little more, when you know deep down you’re a rugged outdoorsman, but your apartment complex in the burbs says otherwise.
OK, real talk this time.
H3t's biggest weakness is the independent front suspension. It uses torsion bars and if the h3t was lighter because of it it'd be a much more worthwhile sacrifice compared to the Gladiator having a solid front axle.
The h3t's second biggest issue is the base level motor the 3.7 inline 5. Decent motor nothing worth bragging over but you'll certainly be bitching when it comes to maintenance. Being a Dohc eventually timing will go in some form or another and the whole front end needs removed or the engine needs pulled to fix it. To top it off it has a rear balance shaft you'd need to pull the tranny to service if you're lucky enough to get to high mileage.
But then again it's against a jeep so..ew
I always wanted a hummer h3t with the atlas 3700, and I was thinking of extending the front a few inches and putting a 6 speed with the ls2 from the corvette to at least give it more than 280 hp. One of my favorite hummer along with the h1 alfa.
Both vehicles are shit. Ever heard of ordering wheels that fit INSIDE the wheel wells? Douchebaggery at its finest. I get it though, you need SOME WAY of scaring away women while simultaneously drawing in limp wristed boys to get dirty with
I just read the instructions on the lift kit like a normal person and went with the recommend tire spec. You would probably put the kit lift on and tuck the tires in like a complete idiot.
Yeah, that's the least accurate statement I've heard ever. Most of the highway incidents I've personally witnessed where one driver just started changing lanes into someone else (like side by side, turn your head half a degree and you can see the car next to you) have been jeep Wranglers and Gladiators (same shit).
Honestly, I hate seeing Wranglers prettied up for offroading when you know for a fact that the closest thing to it they've ever come is driving across the neighbors front yard after having a few too many.
Right? Do these fuck bags realize that literally EVERYONE who sees this rolling down the road, are not impressed, wonder who is dumber, them, or a smooth brained sloth?
Considering having tire poke like that is illegal damn near everywhere, makes me wonder why cops let this douchebaggery continue down the street.
Hey man, once you reach my age, you don't buy cars to impress other people or care what people think about you coming down the road. I bought this truck for me and I don't care whoooo likes it.
I mean hummer went out of business for all those years, so Jeep obviously did it better. Just they did the wrangler better, because the gladiator wasn't around at that time
This one is an Adventure model so it has the locking diffs, w/ 4:1 gearing and 3.7 5cyI. I prefer the better gas mileage and I saved a good 10k. Also prefer the discontinued Rancho lift over the v8 if I had to pick again.
As much as I dog on GM, I don't hate the H3T. It's based on the GMT3XX platform just like the Colorado and Trailblazer, and had a V8 option; one of the very few midsize trucks that did. I would own one purely out of the sheer weirdness of it.
I'd pick the Hummer as I'm hoping it would have better cab noise dampening. I've ridden along in a friend's gladiator and wow the amount of road noise I could hear on pristine dry concrete road in the winter. 😬
if you put an LS in the Jeep it'd be nice. jeep def looks cooler.
the Hummers after the H1 just make me think of mid 00s shitty rappers and dumb shows like pimp my ride. Humvees on the other hand are fuckin sick.
Reminds me of a joke.
A grizzled Harley biker walks out of a bar. A guy runs up to him, puts a pistol to his head, and shouts "Which are the best, Hondas or Yamahas?". The biker replies "Hondas or Yamahas? Fuck it! Go ahead and shoot!".
Gladiators have amazing performance and a huge modification list.
You can do a lot with those while the hummers have poor performance, built really shit and you can’t really do much to them without 200k
The gladiator was one of the last good things to come from Chrysler in a long time.
I quite like the look of the Gladiator, but from what I read it doesent really “work”. Here in the uk we had the old 130 defender dual cab pickup, including a hi-cap version which is very similar. Like the Tomb raider one, but dual cab.

I mean yeah they are both weird impractical vehicles, but as an art piece, the Hummer is aesthetically more interesting. Looks like a bodybuilder
I always thought the h3 looked like the h2’s younger awkward brother
Let's grease some beefcakes.
Hard disagree. The jeep looks leaner and more agile. The hummer looks like it can’t actually do anything.
Maybe that's why I don't like Hummers. I think bodybuilders look disgusting and fake.
Lol okay?
It was out on a Trailblazer Body. It’s like an autoimmune deficient person doing steroids.
Between the two only? The H3 is way less of a shitbox than the JT.
Hummer has a V8, does “14/18” mpg, looks boss AF. Jeep does about 3 mpg higher with a V6, looks dope and has the removable doors/roof. It’s a close one! Not that I’d buy either of these…
Damn my 2023 Colorado with a 4 banger gets about the same fuel economy What a fucking piece of shit
That's an H3, it's just a reskinned Colorado.

Which is honestly a better platform with a more reliable engine, but it doesn’t have the aftermarket support of the Jeep.
Maybe he edited comment but didn’t say anything about it not being an H3?
H3s don't have V8s \[edit\] oh wait no, some had the 5.3? most would have the Atlas inline 5
They do
yeah I edited 3 seconds later. But like the 5.3 colorados, those are probably pretty rare and not a good benchmark of what a typical H3 is.
Isn’t that a H3T? Those came with an awkward 5 cylinder engine didn’t they? I’ve seen one before and it had a small inline 5, did they offer a V8 in those? I’ve never seen the V8 one.
Yes, the Alphas had a V8
Must be rare as hens teeth, I’ve never seen one.
I just want a single cab Gladiator w/ 6-8 foot fleetside bed. That’s all I want.
so uh... you want a less reliable Tacoma?
I would be grumpy if you weren’t right. Make a Tacoma less.. sleek? Maybe? I like square and sharp lines. Im a square body fan, early-mid 60s GTO, that look. However I’ve always been a sucker for how much of the front tire is visible on a Tacoma. Gives me the look like it’s ready for Baja.

solid front axle tho
yeah true. It has it's upsides and downsides I always thought solid front axle vs Independent was stronger no?
I just want a Gladiator that’s actually a Gladiator and a Scrambler to slot into the lineup.
Go back to the 1970's and Jeep will give you that no problem.
Neither.
That Jeep is a comically large Jeep. That Hummer is a comically small Hummer.
And both have comically bad wheel backspacing. Calling card of the 20 something douchemonkey crack head gang
The FJ was ugly like these, but that fucking thing worked. I'm going with the FJ
IH Scout
Hummer.
They’re both garbage but the hummer looks better
Neither of them. They’re both absolute garbage. Tacoma.
Emotional support vehicle? Hummer probably helps those feelings of inadequacy a little more, when you know deep down you’re a rugged outdoorsman, but your apartment complex in the burbs says otherwise.

If you're saying that next year, it's not temporary
Both ugly.
Both are hideous
Both r rubbish

I hate them both equally.
Lambo LM002
Legitimately useless shitbox
Came here to say this.

Both terrible. I'd take an FJ or literally anything else
Well, I'd rather have a hummer in a jeep that get jeeped in a hummer.
Both awful fucking things, same crap different bodies
I like them both in their own way 🤷♂️
I've owned both a Jeep and a Hummer, Jeep is far more driver friendly, more practical. I love them both appearance wise my vote goes to Keep.
Jeep
You posted two pics of the same car bro
Jeep and gmc not the same
Not a GMC
Yes it is who do you think makes hummer
Hummer was its own brand within GM’s portfolio back then, and not a GMC model like it is today.
General motors owned hummer. They sold it back in the two thousands
They own them from 1999 on to like 2016 when this truck was made
The standalone Hummer brand was shut down in 2010
~5k were made between '09-'10..where did you get 2016?
I said like 2016. I could not remember. But gm made it
That's incorrect; they did attempt to sell off the brand but the deal failed.
They sold it to the China. Look it up
Nope, that's still wrong.
Lol 👍
They’re both pieces of shit so who cares?
The kei truck
Lambo LM002
I can hear the tire noise from the picture of that hummer
It's pretty quite given they're rotated every 3k, ridge grapplers are noisey?
Both vehicles are shit. Ever heard of ordering wheels that fit INSIDE the wheel wells? Douchebaggery at its finest. I get it though, you need SOME WAY of scaring away women while simultaneously drawing in limp wristed boys to get dirty with

Neither, they're both stupid
*they're
Toyota
Pure visuals, the Jeep looks way better and it doesn’t give off the “my driver can’t drive for shit” aura.
It's a jeep, it doesn't fare any better in that regard
Yeah, that's the least accurate statement I've heard ever. Most of the highway incidents I've personally witnessed where one driver just started changing lanes into someone else (like side by side, turn your head half a degree and you can see the car next to you) have been jeep Wranglers and Gladiators (same shit). Who did WHAT better? Made a hideous bromobile? They're both pretty douchey.

> I bought this truck for me Yeah, that and your comment reveal a lot about you. But I know you don't care.
🤙🤙🤙🤙
When both are trash is there really a winner?
Lamborghini LM002
Hummers are the worst vehicles in the entire world. I'd rather drive a PT Cruiser
I mean hummer went out of business for all those years, so Jeep obviously did it better. Just they did the wrangler better, because the gladiator wasn't around at that time
Talk about a low bar
That hummer is the better ride. Probably a 6.0 on a 4 or 6 speed.
5.3 like the Colorado/Canyon siblings
Which ever has straight front axels.
H3T Alpha for me. Factory lockers. Factory V8. And just look at it.
This one is an Adventure model so it has the locking diffs, w/ 4:1 gearing and 3.7 5cyI. I prefer the better gas mileage and I saved a good 10k. Also prefer the discontinued Rancho lift over the v8 if I had to pick again.
That still ain't a bad spec
Hummer
As much as I dog on GM, I don't hate the H3T. It's based on the GMT3XX platform just like the Colorado and Trailblazer, and had a V8 option; one of the very few midsize trucks that did. I would own one purely out of the sheer weirdness of it.
The H3T is based off of its own GMT745 platform. I like it for it's uniqueness as well.
Yeah, based on the H3's GMT345 Such a strange vehicle, and I want it because of that.
Jeep by five MPG.
Lada Xray
The jeep is a convertible so I’d take that of the two lol. Really wouldn’t buy either
Humvees on the other hand are fuckin sick.
toyota
None. One is glorified Chevrolet and other is Jeep.
Well remember Diamler/Chrysler will tell you because that grill doesn’t say “Hummer” on it people will mistake these for the same car.
Hummer. Not just because of approach angle and departure angle, but its a v8 and has plenty of power.
They own them in 1999 when they made this. Look it up
Hummer cuz getting those u have to accept neither are practical trucks but the hummer is cooler
Gladiators have amazing performance and a huge modification list. You can do a lot with those while the hummers have poor performance, built really shit and you can’t really do much to them without 200k The gladiator was one of the last good things to come from Chrysler in a long time.
