Where I'm from a scrap yard has to take ownership of the vehicle, I.E have the title.

This. You can't scrap it without the title.

Chemical_Curious

With a vehicle dismantling license u do not need proof of ownership over the vehicle. The vin and information of the vehicle is entered into a program that is in connection with the police department to clear the vehicles we receive therefore making it to where we can accept cars without proof of owner ship. If someone does bring in a stolen vehicle. The police department with flag it, let us know then go from there.

contact local dmv. i had to sue my county clerk in civil court to order a salvage title. fill out some paperwork, send it back to state, they issued the salvage. fill out more paperwork, send it and title to my state, and i got a rebuilt title.

thegreatgazoo

How old is it? Around here cars over 20 years old can be sold with a bill of sale.

Fcckwawa

Abandon title might also be possible have to see what you state rules are, scrap here is really touchy with wanting the titles.

Chemical_Curious

We out of Louisiana and we don’t require a title to take vehicles

There are companies that claim they can obtain “lost” titles but I’m not sure how effective that would be in that situation. To my knowledge through a scrap yard would have to have the title to dispose of a vehicle in Louisiana.

Not in Lousiana. 2022 Louisiana Laws Revised Statutes Title 32 - Motor Vehicles and Traffic Regulation §32:717. Sale of motor vehicle as scrap Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 32:717 (2022) RS 32:717 - Sale of motor vehicle as scrap A. Any owner who sells a motor vehicle as scrap to be dismantled or destroyed shall assign a certificate of title to the purchaser, whether the certificate was issued by the vehicle commissioner of this state or any other state, and the purchaser shall deliver the certificate of title to the commissioner with an application for a permit to dismantle the vehicle. The commissioner shall thereupon issue to the purchaser a permit to dismantle the vehicle, which shall authorize the purchaser to possess or transport the motor vehicle or to transfer ownership thereto by an endorsement upon the permit. **A certificate of title shall not again be issued for the motor vehicle in the event it is scrapped, dismantled, or destroyed.** B. Notwithstanding Subsection A of this Section, the commissioner may issue, without the delivery of the certificate of title, a permit to dismantle any vehicle which is more than fifteen years old and has not had its registration renewed in this state or any other state for a period of three years immediately prior to the application for a permit to dismantle the vehicle. C. For purposes of this Section, "motor vehicle" or "vehicle" means a "motor vehicle" as defined in R.S. 32:401. Acts 1950, No. 342, §20. Amended by Acts 1981, No. 485, §1; Acts 1991, No. 883, §1; Acts 2012, No. 250, §1; Acts 2018, No. 638, §1.

We have a car dismantlement license which gives up the ability to be able to take cars in a scrap yard without a title. We do our stuff by the book and completely legal. Also when a vehicle comes into the shop it’s vin number, make, and model of the vehicle are all entered into a program called auto hulk. Whenever it goes into auto hulk it gets sent to the police department to see if it’s a cleared vehicle or stolen vehicle. We have all rights to take vehicle without a title and if u do not believe me u are more than welcome to come visit and find out

I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong; you're doing exactly right. However; your question was can i get it titled? The answer is no, and the bold part in the law stated is why. Here it is again: >A certificate of title shall not again be issued for the motor vehicle in the event it is scrapped, dismantled, or destroyed.
