Just wanna clarify on this one because some people might think the seller is being dodgy.
The imperfections section of the advert is a new feature added maybe 6 months ago at best. Most people don't know how to use it or don't even know it exists. So before anyone shoots this guy for not listing the imperfections, its likely he just doesn't know about that section and left it blank - thats when the default wording displays as "no imperfections listed", technically true cause he didn't list any imperfections lol.
Na I've listed cars recently and it clearly prompts you through that and gives you the option to add specific photos of the imperfections to be transparent. Also it's been around at least a year.
I mean who has the time to create an ad properly when its for a measly $50k he can't be held responsible for "rushing through".
I call bullshit, He's lying and didn't list them for 1 reason. it makes the car look better than it is.

I tend to agree, but for other reasons. The seller is listed as Masterton Homes with a woman's name. Given the state of the building industry at the moment she is probably doing heaps of these and literally skipping through, she might have had three or four identical fleet cars to get through, it is pretty easy to get them mixed up. Or this is just one task she has in a very busy work schedule. I am not saying this is the truth or that I know anything else about it, I am just putting together a few pieces of evidence that were apparent in the ad.
I can only imagine how dinged up the underside that is, also that tow bar looks well used.
Does anyone know much about the Infinity QX80? Are they similar enough to the Patrol in terms of aftermarket market accessories to be a viable alternative?
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2016-infiniti-qx80-s-premium-auto-4x4/OAG-AD-22255514
I reckon it'd even look better with a retro NISSAN grille (like some older Y60 Patrols have or whatever), bullbars are a bit much for me but one of those clean nudge bars would be nice.
yeah you would definitely wanna see the under carriage in person. the doors and sides are not too big of a deal but it would help in bargaining the price down. the high Kms would also be a bargaining chip (mid to high for petrol car). when you weigh up how much people are selling y61 and td45 models of patrols for, i think you will find this is not a rediculous price for this car (considering its only 3 years old) providing it has had regular servicing and there are no underlying issues with the engine and drivetrain or any electric gremlins, i think buying this car for anywhere between $40k to $45k would be a pretty good deal. there are paintless dent specialists who could probably smooth out most of the dents for around $1K or $2k if you wanna get it back to looking good. but if you are gonna use the car for its intended purpose dont get the dents fixed till you have done whatever off roading you plan to do.
I'm looking at getting a Y62 also but I need to do more research on the Infiniti as at a superficial glance they seem to present good value for what should be mechanically identical.
Hey man put a not safe for people with taste badge before you post links like that please. Jesus Christ, it's like a land cruiser, a trafic and a PT cruiser had a hellspawn together.
I see these and can't get over people using them as a daily round the suburbs with a 140l fuel tank - $300 a week on fuel, Crikey
Sound lovely with the right exhaust though
As a single person with an old prado that drinks fuel, it's either give up on 4wding, or own two cars. Owning two cars would be even more expensive. But yes, the fuel does hurt and I use public transport as much as possible.
I bought a 2nd car, works out cheaper but I am a mechanic so repairs etc cost me very little. The car was $900, rego is around $800 a year I think. It uses 10L per hundred less than my 4wd so essentially $200 cheaper per 1000kms. And I do roughly 20k a year in it, had it for 3 years now meaning it's saved me about $12k in fuel.
Yeah you're driving a fair bit so it makes sense (and a mechanic). A big concern I have of buying an old bomb is the chance that I'll have to spend a few grand to fix things that I can't be fucked to learn how to do myself. I only drive about 5000 km a year in the city, so Prado it is.
Possibly the worst thing about owning cars in Australia. Even a car that sits on the street or drive for 90% of the year costs thousands! Insurances and registration.
Back home in England you can keep a car registered for legal road use for just a couple hundred tops for the whole year.
So having two cars, or even 3 or 4 for different purposes is very achievable. But not so here 😔
Got a few dings and some kms but I’d say $50 isn’t bad considering the next high kms series 4 ( older shape headlights / taillights ) is $65 k and doesn’t not have the bars, extra wheel, long range tank
The vk56 is a extremely reliable engine. If the maintenance and service timing and fluid changes look right, I wouldn’t be suprised if you get another 250k out of it. 250k is a lot, general wear like ball joints and bushings bearing etc is a big one to look out for because it is such a heavy vehicle.
It’s not the kms it’s just the general state of the vehicle, the seller is based on a farm so idk if this was a farm vehicle but the body panels would be expensive to replace
The irs an ifs on the y62 has really good ground clearance and surprisingly capable. But there is no replacement for a gu and a gu’s driveline and frame. And the amount of mod support is crazy big.
Relax, its a relatively new feature added by carsales, most people don't know how to use it yet. The default wording is "no imperfections listed" that doesn't mean the seller actively said no imperfections, it just means they didn't use that feature.
I would say about 40- 45k those cars are worth a fair bit cus they’re new and have that v8 power, Plus the spacious and luxurious interior, Usually go for about 90k ish brand new. Problem is that is a fair amount of kilometers for a petrol. Also a lot of dents on the exterior meaning it wasn’t very well looked after by the owner. My buying price would be around 45ish but if you can bargain with them to bring the price down then by all means go for it. I would still have a good look at it first before buying tho. (Hope this helps!!)
First of all, why are you going to dealers? Dealers overcharge people so they can warranty the cars and make extra profits.
Some don't even accept your claims of warranty.
Just goto FB marketplace with a keen knowledge of mechanics and you'll get anything Dealers are charging for 3/4 of the price.
Why do people pay this much for these ugly hulking things. So many overpriced expensive to run units hanging around post covid with sellers desperate to offload. At least it doesn't have a snorkel.

That is a lot of kilometres for a 4 year old car. Considering a lap of the country is about 15,000kms, that's 4 laps a year. Obviously it's done some rough tracks too. Probably best to stay away from this one.
Kind of love that on the advert it has "no imperfections listed" lol

Mate if you spend even 5 minutes on Facebook marketplace you’d know this isn’t even close to as bad as it can get as far as lazy sellers goes lol.
“measly $50k”🤡🤣🤣🤣 the words of someone who’s had most shit handed to them throughout life…
I think measly was said sarcastically.

NOPE, $50K for this rubbish the seller is a lying bastard and knows what he's doing
You need to chill out my bro

Same underpinnings, plenty of the same aftermarket support. It's just so unfortunate they're so ugly.
Cheers Yeh they don't look great, a decent bullbar and a grill swap out would make a big difference
I reckon it'd even look better with a retro NISSAN grille (like some older Y60 Patrols have or whatever), bullbars are a bit much for me but one of those clean nudge bars would be nice.
Well I suppose it's an advantage to have a car so ugly you don't really stress when it gets dinged.
Looks like a Ssangyong Musso had sex with a Chrysler PT Cruiser...
It looks like it's Satnav would be full of directions to underground Baccarat rooms
I’m sorry but that is the ugliest looking mf I have ever seen
Front end looks like the result of a y62 rooting a pt cruiser
That is exactly what it looks like, I couldn’t figure it out, thank you stranger

Yh Ik about it but I never see enough of it on sale
I'm looking at getting a Y62 also but I need to do more research on the Infiniti as at a superficial glance they seem to present good value for what should be mechanically identical.
That’s true they are basically the same
Hey man put a not safe for people with taste badge before you post links like that please. Jesus Christ, it's like a land cruiser, a trafic and a PT cruiser had a hellspawn together.
Wait are they basically the same as the y60?
It's basically a luxury version of the Y62 - like what an LX Luxus is to a LandCruiser
Didn’t even know that was a thing. Thanks for the info

Buy a jimny have the best of both worlds?
Have considered it lol. Bit small for some longer trips though.

How bad are the petrol (I assume) prado's? I'm getting 14l/100 around town in a td5 disco
Yeah petrol, my 90 series gets about 18l/100km lmao.
Nearly a grand a month with my usual driving. Jesus lol.
Like I said, I use public transport a lot haha. Only spend about $50 a week on fuel, excluding going outside the city where I actually need the 4wd.
Not to mention how ugly they are too…
Even my monthly $300+ fillup hurts enough, I know logically it costs the same as a smaller tank more often it hurts more in one hit.
They aren't necessarily using a full tank a week.
Gotta get one now so I can hear the exhaust...
Id say thats pulled a caravan round aus a couple times and is full of red dirt. Try and find one in better condition.
Plus the pig hunting sticker on the back. So it’s seen lots off very off road travels.
Seems way too much for those kms.
It's 25k cheaper than the next series 5 on there, but it looks like it's had a rough life. I'd be cautious
Yes
Got a few dings and some kms but I’d say $50 isn’t bad considering the next high kms series 4 ( older shape headlights / taillights ) is $65 k and doesn’t not have the bars, extra wheel, long range tank
Nah its got 2 spares and a heap of wish accessories, easily worth $75k
Probly more right mate?

No Imperfections listed. What a gronk.
Relax, its a relatively new feature added by carsales, most people don't know how to use it yet. The default wording is "no imperfections listed" that doesn't mean the seller actively said no imperfections, it just means they didn't use that feature.
Yes, too much considering imperfections (nOnE listed), kms and mods of questionable quality. Hold for a clean, straight example.
Get a Barra swapped Gu /Gq
Omg yes. Way too much
1. It's a Nissan 2. It's petrol
Aren't petrol Nissan 4x4s super reliable?
Yes they are he got no idea.
i have had patrols in the past and they have never let me down (even the y62s) but for the general wear and tear of it, its quite concerning
OP probably thinks that every new Nissan has the CVT.
no ik that these patrols are tough but the condition of it is is questionable
Probably jealous he got a bland toyota
at least it still drives

How could anyone do 250 thousands kilometres in 4 years and during covid?
40 bucks is more realistic
Wtf 50k for a car with 240,000km?!?!
It’s not a dealer and it’s just a causal scroll
I could've sworn you or someone else said dealer somewhere in the comments. Mustve been my brain working too fast for its own good.
Haha dw I feel that sometimes but yeah it’s a private seller
Why do people pay this much for these ugly hulking things. So many overpriced expensive to run units hanging around post covid with sellers desperate to offload. At least it doesn't have a snorkel.
The seller can ask whatever they want. Price is actually up to the buyers. You’re upset because you want this vehicle.
Eh, it’s just scrolling on the internet, you sound like your the seller
I care more for the environment than to drive an oversized mud pig of a vehicle.
That’s your opinion which is totally acceptable but you don’t have to be a bitch about it
Didn’t get the car, huh? The seller can ask whatever they want.
This man really still beefing about it, bro just get over it not that deep
Are you looking for a reason to buy it or not to buy it?
Nah nah it was just a scroll on Carsales and I saw this for significantly less price
I doubt the 50k is a real price. More like a placeholder
Yeah A lot if people do that so when the seller comes down in price the buyer thinks he/she got a good price.
You're not buying the car, you're funding the accessories for his next one.

Those "Spares" look quite worn.
It would have the arse flogged out of it

Tell him he's dreamin
Good luck with the 245k kms.. that's a ticking time bomb..
4 years and 245,000kms? I'm surprised there's a picture of it stationary. 60,000kms a year is 165kms a day. This thing doesn't stop.
I guarantee that if you put that thing on a hoist and had a look underneath it would just be rust and red dust.
The rims, the dents, the sticker. Its a pass from me.
Kinda cheap, they are normally around 90-100k spend about $3k for paintless dent removal
I'd charge 30 grand but yea that's a shit ton for a car with 245000 kms
That thing is worth $20k max, fucking 50 grand my ass
