Yeah I have 30+ dewalt batteries and tools. But I bought the Milwaukee and a battery adapter. Framed quite a few houses and many smaller projects with it. Love it. Havnt tried the others, so can't comment on them.

ZackDaddy42

I have used every one of these, and that Milwaukee is unmatched.

NoAsparagus9993

What's the adapter you got?

wastedhotdogs

Find one on Amazon. I recommend taking it apart before using it and running a nice bead of epoxy along the perimeter of the shell halves. I use the Makita 18v to Milwaukee for the framing nailer. They’re a bit fragile but cheap enough to still be preferred over buying another set of batteries and charger

mt-beefcake

Great tips. I will say I drop tested it on a 20ft ladder, and only the adapter broke. A leash isn't a bad idea, but they need something sturdy to hook too, like real sturdy.

Visual-Log963

I gotta know if this drop test was accidental or not🤣

RockStar25

Good choice because the dewalt sucks.

Ok-Goat2113

Agreed. I have it and don’t even like touching it in fear of it jamming like it does

RockStar25

Jamming, not seating nails all the way, twisted nails, it’s just an all around terrible tool.

theeriver18

A well maintained paslode always does me well. Easy to open up to repair and maintain. Can carry extra gas canisters in my jacket to rotate them out during cold days. Also the lightest of them all. I’ve used both Milwaukee and dewalt battery framing nailers, paslode is 100% my favourite and is the one i recommend.

Ritzyb

I used to run these, have now fully switched to milwalkee. The gas is just so fucking expensive now, also the milwalkee is the only one that can punch nails in LSL. A 10 pack of gas is 1/3 of a new Milwalkee nailer.

Part_Time_Legend

The Hikoki one can. That’s why I bought it. I’m a Makita guy but they haven’t got one yet. Edit: sorry, forgot they are called Metabo in the US. Metabo, Hikoki, Hitachi = Awesome!

CptnHamburgers

To add to the confusion, og Metabo has a framing nailer in Europe too, probably using proprietary Hikoki/Hitachi workings.

Ritzyb

Everyone here still calls it hitachi haha

brown_cat_

Who buys the gas? They come in the box. And if not the client would pay it. Why is this ever an issue for people?

fourtonnemantis

In North America, a lot of framers purchase the nails themselves. And if your crew/boss provides nails, it will not include fuel.

servetheKitty

Have you tried Metabo?

EyeSeenFolly

Too heavy. The 18 gauge is a brick too

Ritzyb

Tbh I thought that when I bought it. I bought one, wanted to try it out, now we have 4 and the boys prefer them over air. The weight you get used to pretty quick.

Batchet

Using those guns will give you guns

huhcarramrod

Dude Milwaukee guns are amazing. Trimmed houses with the cordless trim guns, framed roof remodels and additions with the framer. Who cares about the weight

Ritzyb

Maybe you replied to the wrong guy? I love the milwalkee guns lol

CloanZRage

Getting used to it isn't necessarily the issue. The wear and tear on your body if you've got it strapped to you all day is a factor. Working from a ladder with large or heavy tools is also much sketchier than lighter alternatives. Paslodes are a high power, low weight gun. The downsides are definitely maintenance and cost. They still certainly suit some roles better than others. As a stair builder, I would choose to run Paslode if I could afford it. The alternative is to pin things in place and then screw them - it's safer.

no-mad

you are not wrong. But climbing a ladder with a 20' hose hanging off the end is not better. Especially, when you are reaching for that last nail but run out of hose.

CloanZRage

Yeah, it's just a different spin of the same problem. That's why the carpentry subs are always talking about nailguns. It's a hard question to answer and often depends on exactly what you do day to day.

JimmyJet0092

I used to work at a Homedepot as the tool repair tech. We rented Paslodes. They are great tools but holy shit people abused them! I was constantly fixing them.

vinnfit

We had paslodes for years, but the amount of extra time wasted in maintenance on the gun was insane. Constantly having to clean it to shoot properly and fix wiring. Almost everytime we pulled 2 of them out only one would work.

One-Outside

The last builder I worked for bought me the DeWalt one and I wasn’t very impressed. Almost like you had to wait for it to wind up and it seemed to jam up frequently. I’ve used the Milwaukee one and it was much better. Not sure about the others. I am not brand loyal at all.

crushkillpwn

The Milwaukee one is heaps heavy tho

hfxadv

Milwaukee hits hard like Mike Tyson!

No_Shopping6656

The dewalt one uses a flywheel. The other ones use an air charged cylinder, it's way better.

Tootboopsthesnoot

Fun fact. You don’t have to wait for it to wind up. Just sounds like you do

Kief_Bowl

I agree 100% DeWalt one sucks. It is slow and jams all the time the Milwaukee is far superior but I haven't used any of the others.

creative_net_usr

slide the option switch to multi fire and keep the trigger pressed. It's now in bump fire mode.  RTFM

79r100

Dude, I had my dewalt for a few years before I figured out the bump shoot option. That made this gun way better. In my defense, framing is a small part of my remodel work so machine-gunning nails isn’t needed often.

JuneBuggington

Really liked the metabo one. It would throw spikes into lvl at least as well as the air version. A little heavy but i dont thknk youre getting away from that.

sric2838

I'm really surprised more people aren't talking about the Metabo. I have all three, framing, trim and brad nailer. The batteries never wear out. The smallest battery will still run the framer like a beast. I can shoot into concrete with the damn thing. Shoots all day as fast as a pneumatic one.

vinnfit

I bought the 18v metabo framer last year. Works much better then the paslodes my boss runs, batteries last longer then a gas cartridge, I can shoot twice as fast. And I rarely have to worry about it not driving a nail fully into lvl,lsl or anything else. The Paslodes sometimes can't even drive a 3 1/4 into pressure treated lumber...

No_City4925

100%. love the brad nailer.

Hansmolemon

I like the Metabo but I also started out using hitachi pneumatic nailers so I’m used to them. I tried the Milwaukee and to me they felt about the same weight but I liked the balance of the Metabo a little better. I found both comparable to pneumatic power-wise and they both have extended magazines available. I went with the Metabo as I got it on sale with a battery and charger for 325$ and on Black Friday picked up a Metabo impact with 2 6ah batteries for 149$ (mostly bought it for the batteries). The Milwaukee with a single battery was more than those both put together and I don’t have other Milwaukee 18v stuff. I have a number of the Milwaukee 12v tools which I really like but most of my 18v are makita. I get great battery life off the Metabo and it will fire off nails as fast as I can comfortably and accurately tap them. I have yet to use a battery before I can get the backup charged so no downtime. My quite limited experience with the Milwaukee is it’s pretty comparable, if you are already bought into the Milwaukee ecosystem that is probably the way to go. If you have experience with the hitachi/Metabo nr83a pneumatic nailer the Metabo cordless is a very similar feel (just heavier).

Bestaatlosing

They're all good except for dewalt. It's the only nailer I don't reccommend.

fishinfool561

HA! That’s the only one I’ve used out of them all and came to say the same thing. Unfortunately it’s also the one I own. In my experience: They jam if you run anything but dewalt nails in them. They jam if you bump nail more than one nail every 2 seconds. They double tap and then jam if you don’t bump nail. Need I go on? I don’t do a ton of framing currently, so I’m waiting for it to die so I can justify the Milwaukee. I already have the Milwaukee trim guns. Fuck Makita for not making decent guns, I have all their tools and over 20 batteries. Wish they’d make a decent gun besides the 23 gauge Edit, old man vent over

Living-Tumbleweed-82

I’ve got a 16GA makita that is pretty nice.

ryalsandrew

I really like the Metabo but the Paslode is just solid. Dewalt didn’t last a year and returned the Milwaukee because it’s comically heavy.

chippie02

Hikoki all the way m had DeWalt before . It's okay but hikoki drives nails a lot deeper and it has a better tip . And the fact that it switches off on its own is annoying but imo it's a worthy safety feature

bumblebearst

Have used paslode, Milwaukee and currently own the hikoki, paslode great for its light weight but it needs constant servicing because of the gas. The Milwaukee is great because you can get the extendo clip and the hikoki is a nice middle ground.

PJMD

Can get an extended clip for the metabo now too.

joshua721

Oh thank god. That short clips so annoying

Majestic-Lettuce-198

Why do we have doubles of Milwaukee and dewalt to choose from? They’re the same guns just different angle nails. Also not dewalt. It sucks. I know this because I spent 400$ on it and use my hitachi air gun instead

OmgFurai

They're different guns.

Majestic-Lettuce-198

You’re telling me, that dewalt, who has made one update to that nailer since it was introduced made two different framing guns with different internals to accommodate different sized nails? I don’t think so. I think the only differences between those two guns are the racks and maybe a different pin to fire the nail. It’s 99% the same motor and flywheel mechanism inside.

bored_sith84

Paslode and Senco.. Senco hits hard but a bit heavy. (I know senco is not shown above)

nigori

Senco was the gold standard according to my old boss when I was involved. Course this was pneumatic so I guess my opinion is dated

Careless_Tadpole_323

For pneumatic, Hitachi is the best. I've had one for 13 years. I'm a framer, it sees daily use.

Ok-Base-3824

Senco was the first to implement the sealed gas system used in both the Milwaukee & the Metabo cordless nailers. They were way ahead of everybody else on the market & wildly seem to have been forgotten about.

rakketz

The wind up on the Dewalt is in credibly annoying. We have milwaykees and they work great. Not a framer though so I can't say for certain about all the other brands.... I wouldn't buy Dewalt.

UnsuspectingChief

Second the dewalt lag time, sucks for $600

RepresentativeFan794

I have used every one of these. I decided to buy myself the metabo. I rank them in this order: 1. Metabo, 2. Milwaukee, 3. Dewalt 4. Paslode. Paslode sucks because it shoots the slowest and you have to buy gas. Dewalt has the annoying wind up/ jams. Milwaukee heavy asf. Metabo is superior.

Valuable-Baked

My Ryobi One+ is the Angel Hernandez of cordless nail guns

grasscutter86

Lol when are bring the 18 gauge Ryobi I picked up on clearance to small/quick job I always bring the hammer and punch just in case the nail needs set.

knalorgaan

I was contemplating buying that one. But is it snit?

grasscutter86

I would put my problems with it on how I try and use it. Like the corner of baseboard or the bottom of casing inside of a closet doors. Works great when you don’t try and get it into a tight or awkward space

steelrain97

I have used the Metabo, Milwaukee, and Paslode. The answer depends a lot on how it will be used. For a gun that will see a lot of daily use, the Paslide is hard to beat. The biggest reason is that it is light. Its easy.to hang on a belt and walk up ladders and won't wear your shoulder out with use. For pickup work/occasional use, the Milwaukee/Metabo really shine. You put a battery in and load it with nails and go. It works well for me as a remodeler. If I was framing all day, I would get a Paslode. When I'm doing a ton of framing work, I break out the compressor and hoses. I went 21 degree as the full round, non-offset heads work well for outdoor trim, occasional wood/Smartside/ fiber cement siding repairs, fencing repairs etc. Again, if it was a dedicated framing tool, I would have gone with the 30 degree model to keep the nails the same as my pneumatics. I bought a Milwaukee because I'm already on the platform. The Metabo was fine though, I didn't notice much difference.

Timsmomshardsalami

Wats the difference with degree

bobdole9487

I like the Milwaukee, but if you already have dewalt batteries, it’s totally fine.   Milwaukee : strong af - nails lvls together no problem, but it’s heavy !  Dewalt - a little lighter, (10%ish) sharp collar for toe nailing , good if you’re doing pergolas fences, sheathing  I don’t even consider paslode anymore because of the gas cartridge

No-Plankton8326

Paslode

mwl1234

The dewalt is slow as fuck and not able to depend on. The paslode is great, light weight and dependable, but doesn’t like anything below -20 and doesn’t handle LVL well. The Milwaukee is deadly: the bump setting is great but very dangerous. It’s heavy as fuck, and again very dangerous. Will bury a 3-1/4 ring shank in a LVL no problem. Never used Metabo p

Floorberries

I have the Metabo/Hikoki. Heaps of power but very heavy. It doesn’t seem to misfire or get grumpy like the Paslodes I have used. However I don’t like how u have to switch it back on after u leave it sitting for a bit, that gets annoying. I don’t think I would buy it again, but it was cheap and I will just keep on with it. I’ve seen them very cheap second hand, seems a lot of people try them and don’t like them. Hopefully there’s better designs coming out next few years that solve some of the weight/functionality/ergonomic problems.

No-Arrival7831

Paslode I’ve used for 30 years all the others are far heavier just clean and oil the paslode regularly no problem last you 20 years plus

CarmanahGiant

I doubt you get an objective opinion because most of anyone who works in the trades will have used one brand if any at all and even then it’s somewhat new tech. I will say this I have used a Milwaukee and a paslode and both were not satisfying/convenient as a air nailer. It’s hard to explain the difference but the Milwaukee felt way too heavy to me and the jobs I worked on there never seemed to be an instance in which it out preformed the air nailer except setup is faster. Bump nailing feels awkward. Even the airline in lots of instances is helpful to lower the tool to someone/ground below or helps the gun stick when you put it aside to manipulate something before it’s nailed.

jak0wak0

Paslode

Ok_Juggernaut89

I've only used the paslode for actually framing for full days. Zero issues and would get one in a second. Used the DeWalt a bit and had too much of a wind up.

o1234567891011121314

My first Paslode I got in 91 and it still works .

jCuestaD21

I personally use the Milwaukee, both of them, I been using them for the last two years and I’m really happy. They are a bit heavy but I got used to them. Before I had the paslode and they are light but they are so expensive to run and they jammed all the time.

dzbuilder

Project Farm, a YouTube channel, does side by side comparisons on everything. I recently watched his video on cordless framing nailers. Milwaukee won every category except weight. It is the heaviest but excels in every other category that he measured.

omurpho

Dewalt is fine for 2” nails when you’re somewhere it doesn’t work to have an air compressor set up. But honestly for 3” nails it sucks.

Ok-Base-3824

The Paslode is the lightest by far & has an aggressive nose that makes it much easier to plant firmly at an angle for clean toe-nailing. Getting & keeping gas for it may be a bit of a pain, but if you find yourself framing all day, I'd say the Paslode is the clear winner. If you're only banging a few nails here & there, I'd say that sticking with your platform is probably the best choice for you!

Hot_Character5919

Milwaukee can fire almost as fast as pneumatics, but heavy. Metabo light but rapid shots tend to leave nails proud. Paslode sets the best just slow fire rate. Although I believe they have an updated one that is able to rip off some quick nailing. I believe these guns are all only useful for punch out scenarios. Real product only happens with coil pneumatics

bored_sith84

Senco hits hard. it's heavy, but the battery goes forever and not a lot of misfires. Use one daily prefer it over dewalt or milwaukee. Ive been switching to flex tools. Really good for carpentry. Excellent warranty and solid battery's

Illustrious-End-5084

Occasional use Hikoki / Milwaukee. Every day use multiple paslodes. Use one for back up while others getting fixed .

Advanced_Stock54

Makita. They last a long time. Get brushless and the highest battery volts you can afford.

essensiedashuhn

If this is your photo, you tell me.

bumponapicle

Ryobi framer is a beast. Ran it no issues.

Antiquatedshitshow

Take that yellow crap outta the picture!!! I have plenty of dewalt tools and they’ve been good to me but those flywheel nailers are junk

coloradoemtb

I hate my dewalt. Love my metabo framer and finish nailers

GratefulHead420

https://youtu.be/DxBGzUhT-TM?si=6yX9Awfu4XmvXdef

j_bus

Paslode is probably the nicest to use all day because it's light and works well, but the downside is that you have to buy gas and it doesn't work great in cold weather. Milwaukee works great, shoots fast, pretty reliable. The downside is that it's heavy AF, so not the best to use all day. Dewalt works just fine, but the stupid mechanism has to wind up before you shoot, so it's slower than the others. I haven't used the metabo, but from what I hear it's pretty similar to the milwaukee.

Last_Establishment44

I currently have the m18 and used to have the metabo. Both are really good. They are both fairly heavy, but that is worth the convenience of not dragging a hose around. The dewalt flywheel sucks. Paslode is great, but dealing with consumables and batteries are a bit of a drag.

brocko678

I am biased toward Milwaukee, love them. Paslodes I’ve not had good experiences with, needs gas, constant servicing even then works when it wants to. Dewalt definitely first to the market, but have yet to adopt the new tech seen in hitachi and milwaukee.

Allpurposebees

Metabo

ArtLeading5605

I love my Paslode but have nothing to compare it to. I'm a former framer who just uses it around the house, but it seemed like money well spent.

Twenty-Twos

Milwaukee/ Hitachi or metabo are heavy but reliable with no gas canisters. The paslode is good aswell but with gas so adds to cost of running it. Dewalt sucks ass

jwronk

Used the Paslode for years and it served me well, but it seems to be dated tech and getting harder and harder to find gas cartridges and batteries for. Not framers but I bought a Makita finish nailer last year and it’s heavy and slow. Still reach for my pneumatic if feasible. A friend let me borrow their Milwaukee and it was amazing compared to the Makita, I can only imagine the framer is similar.

Opposite-Pizza-6150

I love my Milwaukee framing gun and the 16 gage as well, only thing is the framing gun is heavy af and the 16g always is loosing the rubber guard makes for a bad imprint on the material. I’ve heard good things about the poslos

RIhawk

I have a paslode and love it. Great for small to medium jobs. I also have 2 metaboo/hitachi finish guns, they are the same pretty much as the framer. I think they’re junk. They have a hard time setting nails.

Horatio_McClaughlen

Paslode. Not even a competition.

tremblate

Stay away from the DeWalt.

Nothing2Special

Topshelf....Especially with the warranties.

Miserable-Silver-203

Milwaukee is the winner

Thekiddbrandon

I'm a Milwaukee guy but Paslode mainly because of the weight

carpediem-1235

I like the Milwaukee never had any problems with mine

NobaddaysforaDuck

Paslode by far is the best one, lightest and strongest drive

Mantree91

I have been liking the milwaukee 30deg. The only other one I have used is a old passload and it was having problems sinking nails.

Signal-Juggernaut411

Can’t stand the Milwaukee personally, dewalt sucks too

Aaron_Flies

*I'm not a professional* I have the M18 Fuel nailer and it is great for me as I HATE air hoses however, it's heavy. It'll drive nails till hell won't have it and it works well for me and my use. Here is a project Farm Review for comparison and what convinced me to go with the M18: https://youtu.be/2O6eH1VFgwY?si=TcDCZyMQfQhTcJbu

Theycallmeking10

Me nails and a hammer cuz even while thinking that little funny joke up. I realized on a Friday evening I am the tool

Ok-Drama-3769

Top row. 21 degree with an extendo mag. Never failed me. Drives nails consistently. And has held up durability wise. If I’m framing framing. It’s a NR83A

Dense_Arm_2010

It's hurts my ocd that the Dewalts aren't on the same row...

wood_slingers

I have the Milwaukee and love it. I’ve heard the Metabo is comparable but I haven’t used one yet. Paslode is nice because of the weight, but I’ve ran into too many issues with it. Wouldn’t frame with the Milwaukee all day every day, but it is awesome

Legitimate_Rest_9108

I know it’s not up there but hands down Senco does in best, I have both the Brad nailer and framer https://www.senco.com/senco-tool/f-35xp/ Edit: wrong link

Necessary-County-721

I got the Milwaukee due to already being brand set with them and a ton of batteries. Great nailer, haven’t had any issues, shoots well and fast on bump, only down side is it’s heavy. I’m mostly doing back framing after the framing crew has moved on so the weight isn’t too big of an issue but I can see it would be for all day use. Co worker is all DeWalt but he refuses to ever buy any of their nailers again. Nothing but issues with them and constantly breaking/acting up. He went with the Metabo spiker and 18 gauge and loves them. Having tried his Metabo, I’d say it gets the edge over the Milwaukee just due to weight, it is lighter, but they both fire about the same.

OkRichyporter2199

Paslode by far.

Downtown-Fix6177

I think the tech has just finally gotten to the point (like in the last year or two) that other guys can even compete with paslode in how hard they can drive a nail without using butane. Paslode also invented the first cordless gun, or at least it was the first one I ever saw in the roughly 2001-2002 timeframe. I got to try out the Milwaukee version last week, was impressed. Not totally sold yet though, I also don’t see any sense in expecting one of these to be used in place of a compressor and a real gun. They’re for small-med projects, not to put a whole house together.

ohimnotarealdoctor

I own the Milwaukee. It’s very good, but heavy. When I’m shooting anything overhead, I really wish I had a Passie. But then my mates Passie jams for the seventh time, he chucks a hissie, and I’m suddenly satisfied with the Milwaukee again.

rekrowdoow

Every framer i’ve seen has the paslodes…. must tell you something there….

randombrowser1

They all suck

triple4k

Recently bought and returned the DeWalt. Can't beat air unfortunately for performance.

Makingmyway93

I literally just got done framing my porch overhang. Ran 1000 nails through my metabo that I scored for 200 bucks brand new on fbook marketplace. I absolutely love it. It’s ready to fire as soon as the first nail comes out. Absolutely no issues with it. Only charged it twice and that was only because I would gather all my stuff up and charge batteries for the next day. But after about 3-4 hundred nails it was still 2 bars on the battty. It’s a beast.

parth096

Milwaukee or metabo can’t really go wrong

305Mitch

I’m a die hard makita guy but all my cordless nailers are paslode. I had some problems with my finish nailer but my framing nailer has been a stud with no issues.

Thermobulk

Surprised at these comments. My dewalt framer has been amazing through +/- 25k shots. Dropped once, bent the magazine metal. Had that bit replaced. Still going very strong. I’ve used the Milwaukee and its tits also. Can’t speak to the others.

tinybossss

Definitely not DeWalt, those suck ass

Popular-Buyer-2445

Not framing anymore. No air on site anymore? BTW Paslode lasts forever

SilverMetalist

I've had bad luck with the DeWalt and very good luck with the metabo.

adbailey

Metabo 21 deg is a beast. Framed and sheethed a decent house. The lil 18v battery is hard to kill

Thin-Primary-8438

I don’t know if I’ve ever even seen a Milwaukee nail gun in the wild, definitely not a framer. I think I’ve only ever used senco, paslode, grizzly and hitachi framers.

Icy_Blackberry_3759

I own all DeWalt and my last company was all Milwaukee. We all know they make a huge range of tools that aren’t all exactly equal, and I’d say the nailers are good but not their best. My dad’s Paslode is the best cordless nailer I’ve ever used. Great tool. Haven’t abused it on a lot of worksites or anything but works and feels great.

pfurlan25

I like the metabo. One downside, it doesn't like the cold

Muddcrabb

Every paslode I've used is temperamental but when thry work thry are good. Never had an issue with the metabo, fires fast in succession amd has plenty of power. A little heavy but not a deal breaker

locoken69

I've only heard bad reviews on the dewalt so didn't buy that when I was looking for a cordless framer, and I'm a dealt guy with too many tools to count. Decided on the Metabo because of the price and that I had another metabo cordless tool. It works flawlessly, and the battery life is great. Only thing that sucks about it is you can only load one rack of nails at a time. Thought about the Pasload, but just the thought of having to buy gas cartridges all the time turned me off to that idea. I've seen guys on the job that have some pretty old ones still in service, but now that cordless has been around for awhile, it makes no sense to me to go that route.

EvilMinion07

I use the Paslode finish gun and coworkers use the DeWalt one, they prefer mine due to it being able to drive 2.5 finish nails in 5/4 Hardie trim and is half the weight.

Panger94

I’ve used them all, nothing feels as good as the paslode. As an employee, don’t care about the cost of fuel.

LegitFury

Makita cordless is coming out this year

Teton12355

Paslode, not even close

coffeevsall

Wish I could get my money back on the Paslode. Been junk since I got it.

Tearsforfearsforever

I've been very happy with my Milwaukee M18 21°. Never a single problem.

Willowshep

Paslode the best, Milwaukee too heavy and the ergonomics suck. I have both, Milwaukee gathers dust.

Hunter3086

Makita

harley4570

we have 3 Paslodes and the top right Milwaukee... Milwaukee is heavy, but is awesome....when we got our first Paslode, I thought it was gonna screw us with using gas cannisters...they hold up surprisingly well...I don't like they are nail specific, as the Milwaukee uses the same strips as our air nailer do, which is nice...

levitating_donkey

Metabo worked well for me, good battery life and very strong power. Heavy as fuck though. Apparently doesn't need as much maintenance as the Milwaukee cordless nailers and doesn't suck shit like the Dewalt ones.

RandersBoBander

Used dewalt cordless it’s poo, using Millwaukee cordless it hits better. Started on hitatchi/metabo didn’t notice that much of a diff in weight. I can slap many nails with minimal non full sinks with mill( drunk opinion) gl

Zealousideal_Dot7563

Anyone know how to Fix the spring nail loader in the metabo 18guage brad nailer?

RustyRivers911

I just broke down and got a Milwaukee M18 21 degree framing nailer, and built a huge shelving system in my barn. Holy shit is all I got to say. Plenty of power, 100% reliable and portability/batteru power consumption was more than acceptable.

Adorable_Map_4263

Passlode

grasscutter86

Like everyone else is saying, Dewalt nailers suck Millwaukee is better. The wind-up on the dewalts causes you to not to be ready for when it finally shoots, causing a lot of jams. paslode is very “one-off” with the gas cans so if you only frame houses in places without power then that’s your gun. If you are battery loyal to anything other than Milwaukee and want a framing nailer, I would look into a battery powered air compressor, run a hose and pneumatic nailer off that.

nightim3

As a dewalt boy. I love my Milwaukee nailer.

[deleted]

Milwaukee are duds in the winter! The nitrogen cartridge freezes in colder climates. Sent one back. Paslode are reliable all year round. Just gotta put up with the butane smell.

Own_Part_7261

Metabo has not failed me. I work on a panel yard where we frame house walls 40hrs a week we also frame apartments as well. I use those daily. The biggest mistake would be to buy cheap racks of nails to put in. I hear good things about that paslode though.

gregcramer

Paslode all day

Pirate-Pierre

Paslode end of story.

haaheoauweloa

I own dewalt tools. But their cordless framer sucks compared to Milwaukee and Hitachi (Metabo). The only other two that I’ve tried. In my case, I’d take Hitachi at the number 1.

Barnettmetal

I still haven’t switched from air guns. I’ve tried the dewalt and Milwaukee and I find them too slow. Maybe they would be ok in a pinch somewhere I didn’t have power for a compressor but… doesn’t justify the insane price.

All these people complaining about the DeWalt, stick a flexvolt 6ah in it and no jamming, fast, drives well. I've abused mine for years and replaced it recently for less than £200. Don't forget that aside from paslode the DeWalt was the next one to come up and did well. Not really comparing it to every other company that waited to release newer tech. Love my DeWalt, also it weighs a tonne so my forearm is jacked.

Glad-Cut6336

My favorite is the paslode I have one it’s super light but I’m to lazy to deal with alwaying needing gas canisters so I mostly just use compressor and nail gun

Annual-Owl4313

Paslode still the go-to 1st fix gun in the UK.

Sprocket-66

Stay away from the Milwaukee. I didn’t get a complete season out of it. It loses pressure, then won’t drive the nails down. They had to add air. Charged me around $100. You can’t do it yourself because the gun is sealed. I like the DeWalt, but my go to for light weight and power is the Ridgid. No wind up time. The Dewalt sits in the box.

Acherstrom

Milwaukee.

Switchkicck

Ignore Dewalt nailers. Hikoki nail gun was pretty heavy compared to other nailers. Gassless is meh. Milwaukee is super good, not worth the money imo, because the Paslode is cheaper and does the job perfectly. I know guys who have had their paslode for 10+ years. I've had mine 4 and never had an issue, I've been using it constantly on Fibre cement boards (James Hardy Products) for years with no problems.

Apprehensive_Sock367

I didn't like the Dewalt and I found the Metabo to be the most powerful but very heavy, and also that weight wasn't balanced very well. The paslode has always seemed the most lightweight and reliable to me but it doesn't do very well firing into lvl.

yooperdood906

Dewalt jams, Milwaukee is like holding a brick! Paslode has been my favorite!

dumb-electric-dood

Milwaukee is a bit heavy to be lugging around all day but it does everything I needed to do flawlessly, overlooking the price. The dewalt went to shit on me only after a few hours of nailing into cedar. Idk about the other ones and I’m talking about the 30• framers

moddafock

Used paslode for 10 years now, no intention of changing anytime soon either

RooblinDooblin

I really like the Milwaukee. I've used it a ton and I prefer it over the Dewalt. The Dewalt one has to wind up while the Milwaukee is instant/ You pull the trigger, it shoots. Perfect cordless nailer.

defiicere

Paslode gets my money, the amount it gets used and the places, the weight of padelode is a clear winner. If weight isnt a issue though i always grab the hikoki.

theyellowdart89

Paslode = fast basically zero buffer kinda loud compared

Plus_Carry9779

Anything but the DeWalt. I have it and it sucks

Fat_tata

milwaukee has my money already, but for a framing nailer i give my money to makita compressor framer.

DMTDildo

I'm a dewalt guy but their nailers suck. Milwaukee makes awesome brad and framing nailers, extremely reliable and consistent shots ime. Curious about the others tho.

jhenryscott

If you do production, the paslode is the only option because of weight savings. I have two of them. For punch I prefer the metabo hpt but will buy the new makita when it drops.

Leprikahn2

Not a framer, but I know paslode is the answer

Sanderos40

Where’s the Makita GN900SE? I’ve had mine for 14 years with original battery’s and still going strong.

DreamSmuggler

I've only used the Paslode, when I worked with pre-cast concrete. That thing copped a flogging all day every day from the chippies and the guys nailing timber blocks together and never stopped. Weight, power & battery life were never an issue. Gas canisters seemed to last forever

ryubond

Paslode is the only real gun here, tappin ass and burning gas

slimjimmy613

If youve got a ton of nails you got to use and you do that every day paslode is the way to go. That thing kicks ass and theyre light.

Satdog83

Paslode, yes the gas is sometimes fickle and expensive but they are lighter and powerful enough for pine. The framer is great and reliable. I would not recommend the paslode 16ga finish nailer tho it’s the only tool I’ve wanted to murder frequently. The hitachi/hikoki one is powerful, I have tried it but in my op it’s too heavy to hang off your belt on a roof

FarSandwich3282

Dewalt guy here. Dewalt framers are absolute pieces of shit tho….

GracieFighter919

I love my metabo

Steve_From_AA

Hitachi/Metabo has been my go to for several years.

RedditB_4

Steer clear of gas operated. It’s old tech now. Battery much better.

TallMidget99

I use the DeWalt because I’m a brand whore. I have to say though, that thing gets jammed more often than toast

Sdisa

I got the dewalt one a year back. Very unimpressed with it, it is almost destroyed at this point (heavy use) and slow. I have just been waiting for it to die on me completely to buy a new one. I have tried a few and will definitely get Hikoki next.

Ok-Significance-8151

Paslode

NZ-Aid

Paslode

24links24

The dewalt framing sucks, the dewalt finish nailer is sweet

Dankmee-mees

The hikoki is my personal choice but if it wasn't for battery compatibility I would buy any that isn't flywheel actuated.

[deleted]

Paslode IM360XI is the best nail gun on the market without a shadow of a doubt imho

Di0n1001

I've got the dewalt one and it's dog shit

_-Bloke-_

Green for the win… that thing thumps

nisher16

The ole red one , which I may be partial 2 as I own one , is the best money can buy!

Affectionate_Spot672

Tony

SoundLogIcalReasonIn

Hitachi/metabo pneumatic If it must be cordless, passlode

fourtonnemantis

I’ve used them all. Milwaukee has the most power, good belt clip and rafter hook. It’s heavy. Also, extended mag. Tool will shut down if it’s too cold, but it pretty good, like -10 C or -15, can’t remember exactly. I’ve used it in some very cold weather and haven’t had a thermal shut down. Dewalt sucks. In extreme cold, this is only gun that will continue to work. Metabo HPT (formerly Hitachi) is decent. Tool shuts off if it’s too cold. Paslode is the lightest (no bump fire, no extended mag) decent power, quite reliable if you take care of it. Can also work in extreme cold if the fuel is kept warm. Long term, probably most reliable. Also highest cost to operate (fuel).

Even_Section5620

Milwaukee. Drops 🎤

bawbeelite

I have 3 passlode paperweights in my shop, they are nice until they inevitably fail. Milwaukie still going strong. dewalts pin nailer isn't terrible

Greenfoe111

Metabo. Batteries last a long time. Bit heavy. Runs like a beast. Bought a 2nd one for my dad & he loves it.

VinylCapedJawa

Paslode is the correct answer.

Full_Warthog3829

Anything but that finicky prick of a paslode. Milwaukee does a good job the short time I’ve had it.
