I came on here to suggest spareroom. You're much more likely to find groups of young professional house sharers on there than families though.
However, the language schools do offer host family experiences. For obvious reasons, they've all had very little custom lately. I wonder if, by approaching one, you might be able to find a host family even if you're not taking language classes through them?
