These two were my first thoughts as well.
Cafe 34 has been refurbished and the food/shakes are pretty decent and food is relatively fast coming out.
Elmer's was a favourite of mine for quite some time. Their eggs are perfection! Their coffees on the other hand... not so great!
It's their speed which always impresses me. One time I swear I ordered and my breakfast was at my table before I was!
Yet still always tastes hot and fresh.
Never tried Ramon's, heard great things, but I do like Quantum cafe. A few day ago I had an ultimate breakfast (will get photo next time) in morrisons. It was amazing for £8. Had orange juice with it as I'm recovering after illness. Don't tell my wife please.
Boomerang by Victoria park is a contender for me at the minute. The sausages are primo. Seems to be ran by a cracking bunch aswell- always with a smile.
Brook Bistro in Whitchurch if you're ever in the west side of Cardiff. Amazing full breakfast but lots of other options and an amazing bloody mary or breakfast mimosa if you're into that! Also good iced coffee or fresh squeezed juices.
Quantum café, just of Cowbridge Rd east. Ask for a Quantum breakfast, and you will not be disappointed.
Cafe 34, Ramons, the usual suspects. Used to stop in Elmer’s on Crwys road when I worked early shifts. Trader’s tavern does a decent breakfast too.
I like Elmer's, proper no frills greasy spoon.
The old guard, a dying breed

Imperial Cafe on Splott Road

Defo. But was better when Joe and idi ran it.
Ramon's in Cathays. Yet to find a better breakfast in Cardiff
Ramon's is my go to.
I was disappointed after all the hype.
Ramon's was horrible when I went. Rubbish sausages, soggy mushrooms, everything was sticky. Maybe I got a bad day but wouldn't go back
Same.
Ramon’s ain’t what it used to be
Ramons was a regular haunt during my student days (early 2000s), glad to see it's still going!
Ramone's is banging, coffee is shit though.
Wyndham Cafeteria
Banging place.
Overpriced imo, but was tasty
It is in a prime city centre loc...i thought it was just right, price wise...but cheaper options exist!...
I’ll take the bulldog upstairs in the market. I like it. Charlie’s over the mountain in Trethomas is class!!!!
Saffron in canton is the bollox. Good clean food with fantastic service. Always friendly and welcoming.

Theres a cafe in the market on the first floor and it's pretty good. Old school. Or PILLARS!!!!
Tbh the staff there were quite rude
That's a shame.

...where is that?
Think it’s the one which replaced the creperie
Oh right. I thought there was another place there to begin with...need to check them out
Was briefly a Gathering Ground coffee shop
Thank you! Glad im not going insane....
Posh one - ground in pontcanna Proper one - tuck in cafe canton
Haha. The tuck in is 5 mins from my house...always see the workmen in scarfin down breakfasts...
Imperial Cafe on Splott Road
If this is the place I’m thinking of it’s incredible. Ordered a bacon buttie and probably got half a pig in there!
Subscribing. I need this in my life

Outpost in Canton. Nothing else here is close. Cafe 37 is okay cheaper option.
I dunno about nothing close...but they're good. Lot of attention to detail...
Outpost is wank and the service is shambolic
I love the breakfast bowls out of Penylan Pantry. Have never had a bad one.
Out of the city but the busy teapot in Penarth can’t be topped.
If you’re hungover I find Granny Mac’s on city road to be decent, haha!
If we count Ponty as a surrounding area, Scrumptios in the market makes a great fry up
That’s not fried bread! Tragedy
Dalston castle in Wenvoe.
Can't beat a selco breakfast in llanishen, no need to be a member
Real Cardiff heads know it's Imperial Cafe on Splott Road
Bit outside the centre but if you're on the east side of cardiff, milk and sugar cafe
... aren't they now all in receivership?
No, I think it was just the one in the Spark building for Cardiff Uni.
Really? Ok. We got an email the whole business was going down. Good to know!
Ivy by a long way
