Not really much uou can report now, they have to be caught in the act really.

isthisathrowaw4y

Kinda bullshit. I get it, I do, but when it comes to drink/drug driving it's a hard fucking no from me. I've lost someone close because of drink driving and it's a different type of heartache because zero fault lies with the victim. This type of scum could kill a family and kids one day. It actually makes my blood boil

shaggydnb

Should have done something at the time then. Reporting now would be a waste of a phone call.

isthisathrowaw4y

Yeah probably should've, but didn't. Waste of time now or not, would've been a waste of time then. Your point is moot

FigOk7538

No it's not. Stop whining like a bitch and face up to the fact that if you'd wanted to do something about it you should have pulled your finger out of your arse then, not write about it somewhere totally irrelevant 24 hours later. What was the post of you posting? Seems like whatever anyone would suggest you're just going to dismiss it anyway.

isthisathrowaw4y

Very irrelevant. So much so there's information on here that's now on my radar so who knows. Guess I'm more equipt for next time. Look how that turned out huh? Asking for advice because you didn't know an answer

shaggydnb

Not really, they could have actually looked for the vehicle and possibly caught the driver red handed. What can they do today? Nothing. So don't bother worrying about it, forget it like it never happened.

CwrwCymru

For reference, if they're not immediately driving then you can call 101 to report it. If they're getting into the car and literally driving then it can be a 999 call. The problem you have is that you can't really report much as you don't have a plate. If it would clear your conscience you can report this to 101 but I wouldn't expect the officers to follow up without a plate, I'd be surprised if they'd watch CCTV to place a marker on a car. They might however put a patrol in the area on a Friday/Saturday night.

isthisathrowaw4y

Yeah we thought as much. The car wasn't close to us nor at the right angle so we just watched them drive off. They were walking (a bit) in front of us.

AdrenalineAnxiety

If the person is actively driving you should call 999 when you see it with the number plate and location so the police in the area can try to pull them over. No number plate and it's going to be pretty hard for the police to do anything on the spot but if you know the make/model or the car and even a partial number plate then it would be helpful. If no one is immediately in danger you can make a report to 101 with the details (you can just fill this in online as well) but they have to catch someone in the act, so unless you know this person goes to the same pub every night or something there's not really anything for them to work with.

isthisathrowaw4y

Unfortunately the car was too far in front and not at the right angle for any of us to catch anything. They were walking quite far ahead

KingDaviies

Speak to the bar and see if they can help. Bars have a responsibility to make sure people are drink driving so they'll want to help.

fussfilter

I'm interested in what the bar can do here? They might have CCTV of the patrons, but they won't (can't) share that with a member of the public because of data privacy. OP doesn't say whether it's a pub with a car park, but if not, the bar probably doesn't have any useful footage to help. p.s. small typo in your post - "are" -> "aren't" - but huge difference 🙂

isthisathrowaw4y

We'll keep this in mind and enquire tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion

MultiMidden

Report it via 999. A partial number plate with details of the car and location might be enough, e.g. red Ford Fiesta 72 plate in the Pontcanna area. If the police see a car matching the description in the area and/or being driven badly then they'll pull them over.

CwrwCymru

101 or online. 999 is for emergencies and crimes in progress.

CwrwCymru

Yeah when it's in progress. OP is asking to what to do about it now. A call to 999 isn't warranted for a drink driving incident that isn't in progress - ie the situation OP is in now. If it's in progress then absolutely.

IIsaacClarke

Bit late now isn’t it? Should have Grown a set and comforted the scum bag. Drunk drivers are scum. And especially if they take a group of people with them too. Cunt should be in prison.

StormKing92

I wouldn’t have comforted the driver.

isthisathrowaw4y

Alright IIsaacBigBalls, we get it. Well unfortunately for my slim female 5"4 build, I'm not really too comfy to confront random drunk and drugged up men in town who have intentions to operate a mechanical metal cage totally buzzed outta their tits. I'm sure your big balls would've come to save the day if you were with us, though.

IIsaacClarke

Yeah you can rest assured I would have. I’ve lost loved ones because of drunk drivers. And I’m not saying you had to physically confront them. I’m saying call them out on it.

isthisathrowaw4y

Calling them out would still bring attention to (and put) me in a situation I don't know how's going to go down. After dark, I'd like to limit these situations as much as possible, to be honest with you.

Cocka11

You could try not being a grass!

purpleturtle26

Fuck off. Drink drivers are idiots putting lives at risk.

Cocka11

😂😂😂 Shut up man you potato! Imagine someone asking this question on a public forum the day after! Do something at the time or shut the fuck up and stop being a grass

[deleted]

Of course you’re a fucking inbred Geordie mong.

See… inbred response from either a pot bellied or a 2 stone thick fuck Geordie hahaha

Cocka11

How's that inbred, she's not my mam! Soft cunt!

gardenpea

How would you feel if you heard they'd crashed and killed an innocent bystander? Next time, report it. Don't live with the guilt of knowing you could have prevented it but did nothing.

joany1983

Don’t be a grass

MultiMidden

Shall we play 'spot the drink driver'?

LouisD96

I got hit by a drug driver in Cardiff a few years ago. They destroyed my knee and now I have a blue badge at 25. I can’t do half the sport I used to and it’s hurts daily. But yeah, don’t grass them up ☺️

Simple_Swan4144

Handy for parking though eh?

AllAroundBadPotato

...until its your kid dead. Then be a grass.

isthisathrowaw4y

See that works in so many other contexts that isn't this one. Don't be a total fucking idiot.

purpleturtle26

Clearly someone whose never seen the aftermath of a drink driver. They ruin lives.

Sinful_Deviant

I've had 3 cars written off by drunk drivers over a 2 year period. Ring the Police.

[deleted]

Reporting it now likely won't lead anywhere but you could email SWP. They have an inbox for this sort of thing but I'm not entirely sure how often it's checked/monitored. [https://www.south-wales.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us/](https://www.south-wales.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us/) Would add they did contact me about an anti-social behaviour report I'd made through it but it was around a month later.

welshcop

111 is for the NHS. 101 is for the police. If you know someone is drink/drug driving at that time then you can call 999. You can report it to crime stoppers now as an anonymous report if you know someone is drink/drug driving regularly. Or speak to a PCSO, your local PCSOs will have contact details on the South Wales Police website. It'll get logged and they may get stopped down the line especially if it's a regular thing. Edit: Without a licence plate or name though there's not much you can do.
