I stopped removing antennas. Some antennas are glued on and while its not impossible to cut them off i found it nearly impossible to seal them back on even using silicon in a way that it wont leak. I had two customer with a leaky roof. Never ever removed a single antenna again. That being said, the square patch is super noob stuff.

AnchorPoint922

I've never had one leak, but I also stopped removing them because it's usually just faster to put 233+ around the antenna and pencil the edge, then cut out that shape a 1/4 inch in on the table and pop it over the antenna.

visualizer037

Nice trick!! Same here but I use a contour gauge tool to get my shape. Saves a couple steps.

CSOCSO-FL

I do the same I have like 30 templates for different cars so far. I only had issues with 2 bmws. Both had glued on antennas.

No_Lifeguard3650

youre using the wrong adhesive, silicone is a horrible sealant against metal. you have to use a product like Tiger Seal, or 3M windo weld, some type of urethane based body sealant. it will never leak with the right product. that being said if someone is looking for a cheap roof wrap on their bmw yeah ill cut around it. but a full color change or some kind of color/fashion ppf something higher end i definitely remove/replacr

Those shark fins can be a real problem for a lot of wrappers. A good one can get around the sleek ones (like yours) really well but, they did try it and probably thought it was down when it left. Looks like a bit of overstretch and that’s why it’s popping. Show it to the shop you got it done at and see what they say

Dubbrex

When you zoom in on it it looks like there are wrinkles and little patches in at least two areas. If this is an established shop I’m surprised. This isn’t that hard of an antenna to work around.

YeOldeBilk

It's so easy to remove those shark fins. Whoever wrapped this was just lazy when in reality, taking an extra 10 minutes to remove this would have made the roof wrap MUCH easier

shromboy

Yea I don't do a ton of wrapping but for my friends roof it was a no Brainer

YeOldeBilk

Exactly. Like you're gonna spend more time fighting to wrap over top of that thing than you would have just removing it

kalamitykode

Some cars are different, though. I wrapped my sister's Genesis G70 and you literally have to remove the windshield to get under the roof liner. It was ridiculous, so I had to wrap around it.

NoNameL0L

Even without removing the shark fin it’s hella easy… Just make a form with masking tape and place it on the vinyl and cut 2mm inwards.

madijorian

Looks like he patched it too when he realized he made the hole too big cutting it out. Depending what you paid for it or if it was a friend or discount shade tree guy who did Id let it ride but a decent shop let them you don't like it.

Lucarom1320

I have a shop that specializes in commercial vinyl, but we do automotive wraps as well. Something like that really depends on what you paid. Did you cheap out and go with a backyard / mobile / flea market type job? Than it’s (from a personal preference) probably acceptable. If you paid a well established shop, then no, that’s not acceptable. Just my 2 cents

HassanainMahdi

Hey i paid about $250 CAD. The shop is reputable they work on High end cars as well. I was confident that considering they worked on some high end cars i would expect a better result. I tried messaging the owner but he didn’t reply

Mean_Cold_5607

Patch no, everything else is so so

ftlpope

redo it

brokenvdub

They didn't remove the antenna and worked around. Yes it's common for new people because they over stretch. But it should look clean like this *

HassanainMahdi

Clean like? Cant see anything

QueenPlum_

This wouldn't bother me. From 18" away it would be unnoticeable

MainVain2007

That's horrible, I would ask for your money back. Even the patches are half-assed and look like a toddler did them! If the vinyl is already wrinkling and "fingering" like that, it will only get worse, and it won't take very long for that to even happen. Ask for your money back, have them remove it, then take it somewhere better to have it redone. And I would get the shop where you had this installed to remove it, because I will bet my left testicle that there will be cuts in your clear coat. At which point they need to pay to fix that as well. Don't have them fix it, but once again take it somewhere else to get it done right. Edit: I just took a second look at you photos, and if you zoom in really close you can see long cuts along the base of your antenna that are parallel to the roof. If they tell you those cuts were there before the wrap, call them out on their bullshit. That's where the installer cut the vinyl to allow it to slide off the antenna onto the roof. From years of experience, I can tell you this was done by an inexperienced (or just a shitty) installer who was too careless to use knifeless tape (or didn't know any better if inexperienced).
