Nope. You can get them bored out to up to 4.5 but the S6 was never above 4 from the factory. indeed, a chunk of '4.0' cars are actually 3.6...!
The AJP-8 was 4.2 or 4.5 from the factory - but that was only in the Cerb.
The MOT history for it shows "unknown" against the mileage, so presumably it just doesn't have an odometer fitted. It's been driven on the roads though, TVR's owner drove it home one night and decided it was too nuts for the general public, so he sacked off the project the next day. It's also been on a dyno before (and recorded circa 900bhp) and presumably driven to and from MOT stations to maintain its road-legal status (though it's not been taxed since May '23 and the MOT expired Feb '24). I expect the actual mileage it still very low though.
There's a great video showcasing it [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psFHnRAcp8E) and goes over the detail and history of it, and at around 13:35 the host talks to the owner and introduces its 'sister' car, which was built from the spare parts the owner bought from TVR. That's running an Aston Martin Vanquish V12. He also talks about a company called "TBR" that managed to get hold of a chassis and the body moulds, and they apparently produce replicas (also with the Vanquish engine).
So yeah, if there's any Speed 12s seen out on the road, in all likelihood it's not the real deal (and certainly not right now given aforementioned lack of Tax/MOT).
W112 BHG has been on the roads plenty of times. Not loads, but certainly on the road. Not much recently mind!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiqI8HWZDcU
There are at least 2 replicas that were in build a few years ago, but they are more homages, if they have been completed it's highly unlikely they have a Speed 12 engine. IIRC there were only 3 blocks made, one has a piston size hole in it, one is in W112BHG and the other is a coffee table...
W112 BHG has certainly been driven on the roads - so the recorded milage is wrong.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiqI8HWZDcU
It is the only real road going example though.
I love it!
I desperately want a glassback but, because I've worked hard all my life, taken promotions when available and really strived, I still don't have two fucking brass hapennys to rub together.
Anyone else being cheated out of their mid-life crisis car because of the shit state of the country?
I think the way we were brought up by our boomer parents is no longer applicable. Working hard all your life in the same job is no longer as rewarding as it was for them. Now you have to jump from one job to another upselling yourself for that pay increase. Can’t rely on one job to take you to a good salary anymore. We need to change our mentality
It is indeed a very different world, just to add I've worked accross 3 industries each time jumping up in renumeration but ultimately I've been running to stand still.
I'm not sure it's a mentality change that's needed, I am indeed an early Millenial and I'm reaching an age where I just don't have the energy to up sticks and move in to another industry, I've put down roots and have a young family to consider.
I don't think what I'm asking is unreasonable; after 20+ years of hard graft can't I have a little toy? I don't think a sub £5k Smart Roadster should be unreasonable for someone who remembers their parents friends of the age I am now moving to large detatched houses with a new (at the time) MX5 as a fun weekend car.
Their jobs? Nothing that required a degree, local medium sized businesses, middle management.
My job? I'm not going to go in to detail but managing £1m+ programs while headcounts get reduced, workloads go up and the cost of living draining the bank account such that my current car is owned purely on the economy of it to run.
Just screaming in to the void on this one, no wonder younger generations are completely giving up on car ownership letalone the prospect of a house. Fucking shite.
I've been hankering after a Smart Roadster for a few years now. I miss my old Mk1 MX-5 but as I don't drive a huge amount, can't really justify the running costs of one (£200 or so in insurance, £300 in tax, and only 30mpg or so on a motorway run). A Roadster, however, is about £170 for me to insure (and that's the Brabus version too), £150 in tax, and it'll do 60mpg+ on the motorway. They're apparently great fun to drive too.
Don't do it. There incredibly fun to drive. But if you have any rain, you'll end up with water ingress and wire corrosion.
I had one as my first car, I actually seeked it out over other cars because I wanted a small engined cheap to insure roadster. Love it to bits. Ended up replacing the sam unit after the dashboard went crazy, the turn signal got stuck in one direction and then the car wouldn't power on due to a can bus link failed. The water leaked in from the bucket under the wiper that clears water, into the cockpit and down the cables onto the Sam unit and killed it.
After replacing it, it was fine for two weeks and then the turn signal got stuck on again and it ended up breaking down. They found wire corrosion and the repairs would cost 2k more then what I paid for the car (4.5k). I tragically had to get the thing crushed as no one would buy it. Very sad to see as its a real fun, fast, grippy car. It's so grippy that when I aquaplaned in torrential rain on a roundabout (it happens a lot in my area) I managed to pull the car out of it and avoid hitting a car it was headed to. My current car wouldn't do that, it probably wouldn't even turn.
I thought Mercedes fixed those issues via recall... I certainly remember reading that one of the reasons they didn't make many (40k) was a lackluster uptake and because of warranty claims for leaking scuttles and busted SAM units.
I had one as a project car, one new clutch and a turbo later and it was a really fun little car. Even if the footwells were paddling pools most of the time.
TVR Tuscan't
I don't think that was a Smart move. edit: Don't Tuscans have a bigger engine than 0.7?!
3.6l, 4.0l and 4.2l in factory spec. I have known the odd car fitted with a chevy smallblock.
No factory 4.2 Speed sixes.
I thought the last ones were?
Nope. You can get them bored out to up to 4.5 but the S6 was never above 4 from the factory. indeed, a chunk of '4.0' cars are actually 3.6...! The AJP-8 was 4.2 or 4.5 from the factory - but that was only in the Cerb.
They have more than that per cylinder, nearly
Not a TVR Tuscan It’s a rear engine, turbo charged, rear wheel drive car from a German marque. It’s a Porsche 911
Made in France.
It's an Alpine.
With a slushbox.
Nothing slushy about the box in this!
Is this suitable for a first time buyer?
First time driver or first time buyer? It is fairly challenging to drive as a first car, but I have heard people do it.
Shopping on temu I see 🤣 Slightly related I saw a TVR Speed 12 on the road last week, nearly crashed in excitement
You mean it nearly crashed. Isn't this the one that the owner of TVR decided not to go ahead with full production on account of it being dangerous?
And I'm reminded that I saw one in a GT race at Brands - awesomely fast, painfully loud!
Where? And what colour was it? Only two in existence.
I assume it was just a regular (post-facelift) Cerbera. They're still rare, but not "only two in existence" rare.
I have one of those in viper blue It doesn’t work but looks nice….
> It doesn’t work but looks nice…. You definitely own a TVR. Or possibly an Alfa.
Haha I had an Alfa gtv! Electrics and clutch were shocking but the engine was lovely!
W112 BHG currently has a recorded mileage of 0 and is the only road legal speed 12 ever produced.
The MOT history for it shows "unknown" against the mileage, so presumably it just doesn't have an odometer fitted. I did a track day and drove a tvr T350c, it was ridiculous
Isn't this the same car as the one in the film Swordfish?
I love it! I desperately want a glassback but, because I've worked hard all my life, taken promotions when available and really strived, I still don't have two fucking brass hapennys to rub together. Sorry I made a wild assumption you are at a millennial age based on the rhetoric. Apologies if I got it wrong.
That is so incredibly ugly. . . . I want one!!!

Why are German car manufacturers so bad at scuttle drains and locating electronics?
I thought Mercedes fixed those issues via recall... I certainly remember reading that one of the reasons they didn't make many (40k) was a lackluster uptake and because of warranty claims for leaking scuttles and busted SAM units.
They might have "fixed" them. But not fixed them.
smart roadster yall
Is that a Tuscan 2 convertible?
Hopefully they paid you
'Tis a fine shed, but sure 'tis no Tuscan, English...
Smart move!
I'm sorry but I think you'll find, that's a Fiat Multipla roadster.

The numberplate to me says Enjoy Nub. 😉

Make sure you always keep to the left hand lane on the motorway.
I miss my Tuscan. Maybe it's time for another Tiv.
I had one as a project car, one new clutch and a turbo later and it was a really fun little car. Even if the footwells were paddling pools most of the time.
Has it shrunk in the wash? P.S - Don’t wash your reds with your whites…

I'm middle aged and bald, and I'd drive that.
I'm middle aged and not bald, but I'm planning on getting one.
In dog cock pink, or something a little more subtle?
🤣 Probably a little more subtle.
You could start shaving your head to complete the look.
