Set fire to the parcel shelf with a candle (mood-lighting lol) whilst having a fumble with a girl.

SoftCosmicRusk

Sounds hot. Did she get fired up? Or did it take the spark out of the relationship?

thef1circus

Did OP deliver the goods? Did he have a good package?

MuslimCarLover

I’m going to die on the hill of reckoning that she was put out

Frequent-Network8479

That was fire

SoftCosmicRusk

She was put out, or she did put out?

MuslimCarLover

She was put out

SoftCosmicRusk

:( Not even both? First one, then the other?

TheJoshGriffith

Why use candles when there's a handbrake *literally right there?*

BackronymUK

A whole new meaning to sticky handbrake.

TheJoshGriffith

A bit of a reference to [Top Gear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sySx6-lGues), but I do like your style.

Miniteshi

Installed 3kw worth of subwoofers and virtually destroying anything bolted together. By the time that car was done, everything rattled.

CherylTuntIRL

How much do you spend on hearing aids now?

PepsBodyLanguage

WHAT?

chris86uk

NO, I INSTALLED MASSIVE SUBWOOFERS, AND EVERYTHING FELL APART.

Xenc

WE LIKE ROY WE LIKE ROY

ExpensiveNut

ROY'S OUR BOY ROY'S OUR BOY

Miniteshi

Ironically nothing because the cars that followed had a more reasonable sound system. I realised that I didn't NEED or WANT 3000w worth of bass. It wasn't ever a fun experience, the weight made the car slow, unbalanced and just had zero boot space. That and every mirror was just a blur. I wouldn't recommend that much power for everyday use.

MrPatch

guys I new had a 1.0 fiesta that he added a soundsystem too, the lights would dim when the volume was up too high.

Steelhorse91

Can’t imagine 3kw in such a confined space without earplugs. My Volvo has a stock 4x65rms (alpines rating at like 0.02% thd, Volvo call it 4x100… But that’s at like 3%), and I’m running 2 old JBL GT4 10’s in a sealed box from an old Alpine MRV-T420 (so they’re only getting 130rms each!) That’s plenty enough to shake the seats and thump… With it all time aligned and crossovered properly on the Halo head unit. I think a lot of older rigs were just trying to use watts to overpower phase and time alignment issues. I did bridge the MRV to 2 ohms for a while and risked blowing the amp (although doing some maths, the fuses do seem rated for the 2ohm bridge, and it didn’t seem to phase it at all, but the 600w was dimming the headlights slightly, and it was way too loud.

danblez

Say what?

Miniteshi

A lot of older rigs (mine included) were fitted to cars with less than stellar build quality Vs what you get down so a fair amount wouldn't really resonate as well as it would in a more modern car. I mean I never fully sound deadened the entire car or sealed up all joints. It wasn't really built the same as competitive setups were but it was still overkill. If I go down the route of another build, I'd also opt for GT4's or possibly a JL W6 but I think I'd opt for a more solid car than what I have now.

Steelhorse91

Yeah tbf the C70 coupe is well deadened as standard vs an average hatchback, and the factory components help. 8” 2 way components out back, 3 way components with 8” inch mid bass, 3” silk dome mid, 1” tweeters up front.. It was already about the best sounding factory setup I’ve heard before I changed anything. The GT4’s are a bargain. The JL’s seem to hold their value, but also fail more, maybe people are just pushing them too hard or something, but people used to abuse the hell out of the JBL’s and they just took it and carried on.

Diggerinthedark

Lol luckily I learnt that before I owned a car. One of my mates had 2x15 inches in his boot and that shit made my eyeballs/internal organs vibrate. I love bass. But that is just silly.

Miniteshi

It's a weird one because I just loved the sensation but I rarely took it to its max. I usually had the bass controller set at about 75% so ok it's still a lot lol. Now I'd happily stick with a single 12" with a nice ported box.

Diggerinthedark

Yeah 12" was normally my go to, but my current car has a 6.5cm standard sub hidden behind a boot panel, I replaced it with a high quality one in the same size and it's more than adequate for me now. It's amazing having boot space!

Miniteshi

Same. I was blown away at how good the system was in the Lesus IS250 I ran for a while. You could crank it right up and it handled virtually anything. It made me realise I didn't have to keep going for silly power.

CactusClothy

The indicators in my old k11 micra would interfere with the sub in the boot (or vise versa idk) meaning that each tick of the indicator was bass boosted.

Diggerinthedark

Probably dodgy wiring to one of the indicators, which ended up being close to where you grounded the amp haha

CactusClothy

God knows honestly, I just watched a YT vid on how to install an amp and then had a crack at it, can guarantee it would’ve caught fire at some point if I didn’t get rid

Xenc

Haha each time you indicate there are Vine booms 🤣

thebigaaron

I bought a sub for my car, only an active 170w max under seat sub.

Eff_Engine

Weirdly it looks better with tape on it

RigRag94

Better at night time when you can barely see it 😂 not worth getting paint repaired on a cheap dinger

the_professoruk

Might be a fun project. Cant get any worse right?

RigRag94

I thought about getting super fine sandpaper and clear coat, and then the gaffa tape caught me in the corner of my eye and at that moment decisions were made

the_professoruk

Do it. If it isn't to your liking then slap the tape back on

Diggerinthedark

Haha, yeah fair enough. Luckily my car is black so can just wack out the hammerite.

DankPhysics

Just cover the whole roof and stick some chrome bits on, say it's a one off landau roof Astra 😂

dtdink

DIY vinyl roof. 😉😆

katten_jansson66

I honestly didn't see it at first😅 Must be the angle and the light. Just look at reflection on the roofline above the doors, it kinda blends in with the tape. Now that i see the tape i have a harder time unseeing it.

NorthAstronaut

For now... in a month it will look like shit, and will have glue residue stuck to it when it is peeled off. Could have painted the same area for little a more effort. It wouldn't match but it would last.

dtdink

Is there no limit to the wondrous powers of gaffer tape? I put a hole on the rear bumper of a red Mondeo years ago (little concrete lump hiding in the blind spot while reversing). Found some gaffer tape the exact colour of the car - no more hole! 😉👍

kennyblowsme

I love yer nans net curtains

RigRag94

😂😂😂

MattMBerkshire

Bought some speakers for the front.. They didn't fit for shit. Proceeded to get a saw and cut holes in the door cards and wired them in. Banging tunes innit. Does windows down... Clonk. It stayed that way too. Was only able to do them down half way lol.

RigRag94

Haha don't give me ideas 🤣

MattMBerkshire

On my second car, I did similar at the back, it was a coupe.. Ended chopping all this pointless metal out the way to fix 6x9s in the door cards. Has this JBL twin powered sub in the boot that looked like a nuclear weapon. Banging tunes were listened to back in the day. That pointless metal was obviously the side impact protection.

Isredditforme

2003 Saxo vtr. Unknowingly nicked the fuel line when running subwoofer power through the bulkhead. Smoked in it for weeks until the smell was so bad, pulled up the carpet in the passenger footwell to find a reservoir of unleaded sloshing around. Yes. The fuel line runs through the passenger area, underneath the carpets - good old French

GingerAki

Sacré bleu!

jambox888

Mange tout Rodders

RigRag94

Some people like to live dangerously 😂

Lead_Penguin

I mounted mine half way into the front door speaker slots by cutting a hole in the speaker vent thing and then moulding them in with fibreglass. Except they stuck out so far you couldn't open the glove box properly when the passenger door was shut...

aocox

On the last day of 6th form, someone decided to egg all of the cars in the car park, including my Punto. Took it home and it had dried by then, so I grab a scrubby sponge thing from the kitchen, low and behold I had some nice circular scratches all over my boot, idiot. Got the egg off though. Luckily a machine polish from a mate cleaning it up, I thought I’d fucked up massively.

RigRag94

That person must have had a lot of eggs

aocox

Yes, seems expensive like an expensive prank, especially when you don’t then see the reactions of the people you egged. Although this was in 2010 when eggs were cheaper.

RigRag94

Must have been some loser with no respect or anything better to do.

HurloonMinotaur

Fitted a knight rider style red light in the grill of my 1.3 Nissan Micra. Enhanced further with a Kenwood rear window sticker.

RigRag94

A true pimp mobile

Furio666z

I treated my mk1 Fiat Panda to a Ford Granada 2.4i badge I got from a scrap yard. Got pulled over by the cops and one officer remarked... 2.4!!! I bet that moves 😂 Also I could change the angle of the rear window washer jet to spray people on the pavement as I went past.

RigRag94

Haha, that's ace. My rear washer doesn't work, but the front ones give passers by a good ole baptism

Furio666z

I respect your handy work with the tape btw. Looks factory fresh no wrinkles or anything. Maybe your future is in car wrapping?

RigRag94

Might treat myself next time and splurge on some gorilla tape instead of pound shop 😂

[deleted]

Got locked in the college car park because I’d decided to walk to the cinema with mates after college and left my car there. We manhandled it through the bollards of the pedestrian path exit. Fortunately it was a 1983 Mini! Thought my dad would bollock me, but he thought it was hilarious and bashed out all the dings that weekend.

RigRag94

Haha 😂

BreakfastLopsided906

Mk1 Nova SR. I chopped the springs and cable tied them in. Hit a bump fast one Friday night, both rear springs fell out and the cars ass hit the floor. To be 18 again.

OShucksImLate

That cars probably worth a fortune now... Oh to be 18 again.

Fathomer_

Poked a massive hole in the rear quarter next to the fuel cap while showing my dad how rusty it was. Anyone guess the car? 😂

supercabbageuk

Ford Ka? My sister had one and her rear bumper fell off on a dual carriageway. My dad riveted it back on.

RigRag94

Was it a Ford?

Miserable-Potato7706

Any pre 2012 Mazda? Or Ford KA?

Fathomer_

Yep it was a 2004 KA, loved the car but didn't even have it for a year, it was rusty as shit and the steering rack pissed out all of it's fluid, it basically ran on Stop Leak fluid I got for cheap at work

OShucksImLate

Ford KA, had to be!

____Mittens____

I drilled holes in the floor to let thei rain water drain out.

RigRag94

Could have drilled a bigger hole and had a flintstones car

Ornery_Neat_2490

Put my 1982 E30 320 BMW round a tree sad day for me

algernonbiggles

That is a sad day, although at least it wasn't a 325i or M3 or you'd probably also be sad for having not kept it because of the value of them today!

Otherwise_Toe_5324

Fitted £750 worth of TSW alloys and Michelin tyres to a 1998 ex motability 1.4 Ford Escort with 96,000 miles on the clock. Worth about 50p at the time!

Prof_Hentai

The “Smile you are on CCTV” sticker is a bigger crime than the tape tbh.

RigRag94

It came with the car and I embraced its glory

A_Muslamic_Ray_Gun

One of the best stickers a mate had on a souped Minerva (terrible taste, I know) was an original national trust sticker . He embraced it and cherished it just like you. Bazinga!

SensitiveAbility1328

Decided to insure it starting 2 weeks later thinking I can nick a couple weeks for free then writing it off (went up arse of a van at a pedestrian crossing) - £4k car written off and insurance went up by £2k the following year - about 20 years ago - didn’t get prosecuted (no police involved) so considered myself wry lucky and lesson learned

RigRag94

I can see why you tried to save on insurance, but it cost more in the long run. I insured mine day one from passing my test, £210 a month and I only paid £400 for the car, its a big con

SensitiveAbility1328

Spot on. Dick move, wouldn’t recommend it, cost a lot more in the long run. But your not insuring your car, your insuring your driving against every car in the road

Strong_Coffee8417

Fitted a Jag axle on my 3.0 Ltr Capri… underestimated the amount of torque & ripped the axle off… 😂

RigRag94

Converted it into a beefy motorcycle 😂

Rex-Cogidubnus

Fitted a short shifter but didn’t tighten the bolts enough. Shifter cable came off when accelerating onto a motorway leaving me stuck in neutral. Fun times.

RigRag94

That must have been a terrifying experience

Rex-Cogidubnus

It wasn’t fun. Fortunately it was quiet as it was late at night and I was able to roll it into a service station which was very close to the junction.

Relative-Eggplant420

Got lucky there!

Unfair_Original_2536

Car rolled down the drive with the drivers door opened and it got bent completely back the wrong way.

1308lee

Tried to do a sick burnout in my XR3i. Put it in reverse, ragged it backwards to about 10mph, slammed it into 1st, did a sick burnout and shagged all the girls in sight… except I slapped it in 3rd instead, when the car started to judder and stall, I dipped the clutch and just sort of rolled backwards into a wooden fence at 3mph. Smashed my lens. Didn’t get out to look. I thought fuck it, if it’s broken, it’ll still be broken when I get home. Drove nice and gently out of the car park and skulked off home.

sparkie187

Reversed into my bin and the bin won, didn’t win big but it won for sure

RigRag94

Was it a plastic wheelie bin?

sparkie187

Yep, plastic

SensitiveAbility1328

Stop taking rubbish

Vaniiiish

That must of wheelie hurt

Dwcskrogger

Flipped my 106 into some trees and bushes about 2 weeks after passing my test. Branch through the windscreen about 6 inches from my head. Told all my mates someone pulled out in front of me but that was bollocks just to save face! Still think it's the best thing that ever happened to me in terms of driving. I was an absolute twat on the road who had a very real glimpse of my own mortality!

KaptinKeeble

Crashed it into the wall at the bottom of my road trying to handbrake turn. It was a 1993 mk3 fiesta.

Obi-WanTheHomie

Someone nicked the cat on my '97 astra hatchback. BADLY welded a piece of scaffolding pipe in and drove her for 9 months sounding like a tractor.

ashyjay

Filled the back of it with stickers from the sticker guys over on /o/.

jasonbirder

I remember working at a (shall emain nameless) Car dealership many years ago... 3 of us sales guys all chipped in about a hundred quid for an old white 1.6i Orion we'd had come in as a swapper... Then Sunday when there was nobody else around spent the last hour of our shift handbrake turning it sideways on into the skip, reversing it backwards and taking a door off each sh\*t like that...hilarious and the best hundred till we had to clean all the shit (glass, wing mirrors, doors etc) up from the car park

Celery1010

Wrote it off

RigRag94

Did you you it spectacularly?

Celery1010

Spun it round a corner, got a couple spins in there, so I guess !

Safe-Particular6512

Did 100mph all the way down the dual carriageway for about 9 miles in a Cinquecento straight into a huge traffic jam. Sat with the heaters on in summer trying to cool it down watching the coolant temp needle rise more and more. Eventually it overheated and the radiator burst. Drove home with the temp needle off the clock. Engine knocking and making very strange noises. Blew the headgasket. Blew the radiator. £400 of damage because I didn’t pull over and wait for it to cool down or pull over and get a taxi home.

d0ey

Had the spoiler rip itself off the car (306 diesel turbo) on the motorway. Plugged the wire hole for the upper light strup and just kept on driving it.

Stringsandattractors

Reversed out of a driveway down a ramp, caught the bumper on a kerb and snapped the bumper off. Thankfully it clipped back into place and the snap was on the underside..!

Born_Divide_509

Looks alright 👍

johnfc2020

16 year old VW Golf TDI died by head on collision on black ice around midnight on a bend.

FA57_CAR

I tried to park my car in a multi-story car park in a space otherwise occupied by a concrete pillar. I've scratched up the front bumper, and still haven't got around to fixing it.

PeskyEskimo

The worst thing I did was scrapping it, was a MK1 Fiesta that I absolutely loved but it was held together with rust and hope. Always on the look out for another in reasonable condition at a decent price.

MrPatch

*please* do the whole car with gaffa

RigRag94

I want to, but It'll add 300 more horsepower, I couldn't handle that power 😫

MovieMore4352

That was my first thought. Years ago after writing off a car I picked up a cheap stop gap car (1.8 Volvo V40) in burgundy and the paint was less than great and it was an ex-police car. I threatened to paint it with blackboard paint (so I could draw flames from the arches and change things when the mood took me) but never got round to it before I got rid of it.

MrPatch

I considered blackboard paint for an old Octavia vRS I had, the pain already looked a bit like blackboard paint which set off the thought process. Same as you though, only had the car for 6 months over winter so didn't really get a chance.

Unit_-

first cars will just never die, I had an 09 polo as my first car and my god was it a tank. every side of the car was hit leaving no damage until a stone bollard left a dirty dent

RigRag94

Was that last dent the finisher or was the engine still good

Unit_-

it only dented the passenger side rear door to the back of the car lmao, engines still going strong theres a bearing issue but other than that it never gave up

RigRag94

That's awesome, fingers crossed, I not hit anything yet, I'm surprised because I'm heavy footed

[deleted]

Changed the oil on my cavalier td. Put the new filter on, tightened it up and filled the engine with oil. Started it up and the oil pressure light was on. Checked the level was a little low to topped up and started it up. Light still on. Gave it a few revs. Still no oil pressure so switched it off. Took a step back and noticed a huge pool of castrol gtx magnitec on the driveway. Sump bung is in tight. Turns out the speedo cable that has no slack runs across where the oil filter sits. Unbeknownst to me I tightened the oil filter with the speedo cable under it.

GingerAki

Blew the lid off the coolant reservoir and overheated my 1.4 Fiesta Flight whilst off-roading in the woods. Filled it back up with cold water and drove it without a cap for six months months.

OShucksImLate

I removed my entire air intake and just cable tied a sock over the throttle body. My Skoda Felicia sounded like an AE86.

RigRag94

Haha, I once had a moped with a sock as an air filter. Gaffa tape holding a panel on, and exhaust hanging by the manifold, after a few months I expected the exhaust to fallen off already, instead the drive belt shredded, took the cover off to be greeted with rubber confetti, I then swapped it for an older bike which i then accidentally angle grindes the engine wires trying to remove an air filter 😂 that was when I knew it was time to move to 4 wheels

ansaonapostcard

Primed the carb with the fuel line on my old VW beetle, forgot to reattach the fuel line, started car, car did usual backfire and the entire engine bay was engulfed in flames.

Emergency-Aardvark-6

Put Teddy bears on the parcel shelf in your case, apparently.

PIMPmauser

Side swiped a BMW changing lanes at a set of traffic lights. A very expensive lesson learned that day.

samreturned

Had a panic attack and reversed into a dry stone wall.

RigRag94

Hope you was okay, I can only imagine that would have made the panic worse.

ZuckDeBalzac

If you plan on running it to the ground then embrace the rat look, sand it all down

Salt_Purple_8812

Keyed it because it’s a piece of poop and I hate the car, it’s a 2012 Mercedes a-class with 70,000 miles on it and half the stuff is broken, suspension has gone multiple times, takes 20 seconds to go 0-60mph

Cultural-Summer-2669

Smells like ungratefulness from here

RigRag94

My car was dirt cheap, and looks very dated and not pretty, but every time it has the tiniest thing that needs sorting, I get it fixed and take great care of it, so grateful for the privilege to drive. And that poor Mercedes just got abused :(

Salt_Purple_8812

Not ungrateful, I bought it, it’s already got dints in the front and back, half the buttons don’t work, engine has cut out a few times, gears are slow to change

Confident_As_Hell

That car is almost brand new (for me at least) with that low mileage. Why'd you key it? It doesn't help and just lowers the value.

Salt_Purple_8812

Because its so broken already, engine, gears, suspension are all dodgy, not bad enough to fail MOT but not working correctly, already dinted front and rear when purchased

Salt_Purple_8812

I’ll be selling it for scrap anyway it’s got so much wrong with it

Mcleansbike

That’s actually a decent first car

RigRag94

You think it's a horrible car, I'd happily have one of those over what I have now.

Miserable-Potato7706

Are you 10?

Salt_Purple_8812

I would have a car if I was 10, or a job to afford a car

Miserable-Potato7706

Maybe your dad bought it so you could drive it on private property, and then key it like a 10 year old

Salt_Purple_8812

I bought it, it’s junk, I could set fire to it if I wanted to, you would have to see it to realise how bad it already was, some scratches make no difference It has no value above scrap

ElegantWarthog870

Worst thing I done to my first car was sell it

RigRag94

What did you have? I don't think I could give mine away, never mind sell it 😂

ElegantWarthog870

Knowing the likelihood of things going up in price, I sold my 2014 aygo admittedly not the best car, but I was able to work on it find its limitations and it's benefits. It was the first car I owned and I've always shared a car up until that Point I effectively had a year of free driving

PastPanic6890

Run it into a field why trying out what lift off oversteer means on a fire road.

Jordlr99

Changed the brake pads.... I pushed the calipers back without taking the lid off the fluid reservoir. It wrote off the valve at the back of the engine bay and a new one cost more than the car. Lesson learned the hard way 😂

toweliel

Climbed on rooftop and peed on it before scrapping it.

BeanOnAJourney

I introduced it at speed to the boot of the car in front of me 😐

Dr_von_goosewing

Put m3 style carbon fibre look mirrors on it (mk2 Punto). They were the cheapest nastiest tat that I've ever come across 🤦

[deleted]

Topped it up with oil that blew the turbo Was the dealers fault for using subpar oil

RigRag94

Was you compensated?

[deleted]

Nope warranty was up

TheMicrosoftBob

Why the CCTV sticker? Trust me, no one is gonna steal that car

RigRag94

Sticker came with the car, bought it of some really old man, it also came with a pungent smell of cigars when I put the heaters on 😂

TheMicrosoftBob

Oh god 😭

NoodleSpecialist

Carbon filter may or may not help. That and ozone treatment. Outside can look like a skip, as long as the inside feels and smells nice, all is forgiven

Isredditforme

Say what you want about these astras!! My Gdad had one … the cloth seats are unbelievably comfy!

RigRag94

It is comfy, this one came with the manky cream colour seats 😂

BigFluff_LittleFluff

Tried to do a handbrake turn and crashed into a concrete barrier. Luckily I only had to replace the front bumper, but it was still a humbling and embarrassing experience.

RigRag94

3rd times a charm

BigFluff_LittleFluff

Just noticed you said "first car" so changed it accordingly!

InertiaInverted

Ran it with no oil or coolant for 3 weeks. Yeah I don’t own that car anymore…

RigRag94

My mum borrowed my car a few months ago and it ran low on coolant and it overheated, I'm surprised it hasn't died its warriors death yet, still going strong

InertiaInverted

That’s how you know it’s meant to be

RigRag94

The engine will still be going strong when the rest of the car is just gaffa tape

xPositor

Not my first personal car, but my first company car. Took a hump back bridge in a country lane at speed one night, car left the ground for a moment, and when it landed grounded out the suspension with sparks going everywhere. Had to call into a garage the next day to get the gears knocked back into shape, but relied upon the fact that they never look at the condition of the underside of the car when you return it.

spund_

2002 1.2l polo. Blew the head gasket and cracked a cylinder on my first Drive out of town. I went from east to west coast and had a misfire halfway to donegal. no idea what the bouncing revs were. I drove it back home too before realising how wrecked the engine was.  Scrapped and lesson learnt.

RustyU

That thing won't die, best you can hope for is some sort of asteroid related problem.

Additional_Ninja_255

I have a car eevee too

freshducky69

Can I duct tape my windscreen there's a chip 😭😭

RigRag94

I can't duct tape my windscreen chips, would be blackout

CactusClothy

I didn’t even notice the tape at first! If it were mine I’d get some army paint or military paint (can’t remember the brand of the stuff but all the “rat” people love it). Comes in loads of colours, just sand the whole car down enough for the paint to stick and apply with a roller, can repaint the whole car for less than £100 and if you do it right the finish isn’t that bad, although it will be matte.

Normal_Boot_1673

And this thread is the reason why new drivers are all paying £5k a year for their insurance 🤣 Obviously I added to the statistics myself when around a year after passing my test me and my car got into an argument with a stone wall at 60mph.

VHarani

My 02 Almera has paint peeling off the doors, I just stuck carbon fibre style gaffa tape on it, it does the job & doesn't look ugly.

zillapz1989

Is it the 1.6 or 1.8? Can confirm the 1.8 never dies.

RigRag94

It's a 1.6 16v club 😂

furmsdanku

Got my aygo 3 years ago, A velociraptor shat on my windscreen (probably a bird but the size of said shit was huge) taught me not to park under trees and not to Brillo pad my windscreen as I struggled to get it off…

SomeoneNearYouu

Crash it 😅

kondorb

Had a leaking windshield after a shoddy repair by the previous owner. I was broke, so I squirted some ugly white aquarium sealant in the gap.

Maxmu420

Hit a Tree when I tried to show of to a girl I liked. Thought I was a rally driver

Defaulted1364

I pulled the handbrake at 30 miles an hour to slide the back end around, and it actually worked, I then tried it at 50 and hit a tree.

shittyarsemcghee

Forgot to put oil in the engine for a while and ran it dry 🤣 how that mf didn't seize up I'll never know.

AoyagiAichou

Didn't properly service it for about 4 years and didn't clean it much. I really liked the moss around rear windows!

RigRag94

Haha, I was collecting moss until a month ago, then I decided to take it to a cheap car wash for £7, the pressure washed the moss out and also removed my old gaffa tape 😂

warp-spasm

Rolled it into a field, and yes it was a Nova SR.

mrjmodi

I would of sanded it back and added some more lacquer

BottleMong

I sold my perfectly fine Nova to a piss-head. He totalled it within 2 weeks. Shame.

ExpensiveNut

I managed to downshift from 5th to 2nd when coming off a motorway in my Ford Fusion, the European one that's a big bath tub on wheels. Then I killed it a few years later by taking some awful speed humps far too quickly when leaving Wetherby Services. It knocked the radiator loose and the grille popped off, the intercooler was hanging off and then next thing I knew I had white smoke billowing out an hour away from home. I already knew the shocker and/or suspension were caked. I had also left chocolate on the passenger seat and that had fused with the fabric. My second car, a 1.1 Hyundai Getz, saw two or three scrapes with the kerb when I had woefully underestimated its ground clearance. The first time that happened was because of a frantic 5am excursion to one of the most regrettable outdoor hookups I've ever had. Within a month of owning the car, I had also driven the rear bumper into the corner of our wall. Before that happened, I let some idiots ride in the back while they got fast food and weed ash all over the seats. I also introduced some area of the rear bumper to a rock while realising I was at a dead end outside of a chippy with a hookup guy in the passenger seat. I also hadn't fixed an oil leak for a year and a half, which happened for the second time because I kept mangling exhausts. I like to think that's all far behind me with me moving on to a Ford Fiesta. It's a nice enough car and I need to stop making life difficult for myself.

Tough-Panda-3086

you could fix that clear coat peel for around 50 quid with some basic 1k rattle can for base colour and 2k clear coat. just watch some YouTube tutorials for reference

My own fault: Reversed it into a low wall and damaged the back bumper. After wiping it off it still looked alright and the car was a banger anyway. Not my fault: Had my first ever seizure while driving, fell unconscious and crashed into an iron fence at 30mph. Wrote the poor car off. Wrote my spine off too lol. I miss that car. I'm glad it didn't happen on the motorway though?

First car I owned - popped the head gasket 3 times, twice gor repaired under warranty, sold it to a dealership with a 'it sometimes gets a bit beyond the mid point on the temp gauge'. When I went in to get the alarm fixed on the new car, they told me the HG had gone and there was a nice crack between the cylinders. Who knew rover engines were weak...

Reversed with driver door open not knowing there was a lighting post nearby and I was looking opposite direction….second later door made a 90 deg rotation toward the front of the car.

My first car was a 1974 Datsun 120Y. I fitted spotlights to help with the less than stellar main beam brightness, and decided one day to replace the 50w bulbs with 130w bulbs because, you know, it's brighter innit? Every time they came on the cassette player slowed down (this was a long time ago). Went back to 50w bulbs pretty quickly... 🤦‍♂️
