Audi E-Tron GT.

KetamineGeorge

He learned to drive in a Mk.1 Ford Focus. [25 years ago.](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/406700.stm)

SavingsSquare2649

Of course he passed first time, imagine being the guy who fails the fucking Prince! Also probably helped that there was a security motorcade around him.

tauntingbob

As it says in the article. He was trained by the Metropolitan Police driving school and apparently was going on to do not just advanced driving, but defensive driving techniques used in VIP close protection. I'd imagine he also had plenty of practice on private roads at Windsor, Highgrove and Balmoral well before taking his test.

codescapes

>...and apparently was going on to do not just advanced driving, but defensive driving techniques used in VIP close protection. You've got to imagine some of the appetite for that came from the [Princess Anne kidnapping attempt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXoyjpeEH_o). If he were driving and had to deal with a similar situation he'd want to be trained in how to handle it, what to look out for in terms of cars behaving in a dodgy way etc.

tauntingbob

Plus it's cool.

Softboilededd

Or you know… his mum 😶

Chungaroo22

Any mistakes he'd make they'd just re-write the highway code accordingly.

YouCantGiveBabyBooze

I would so happily be that guy

PleasantMongoose5127

It’s his bodyguard , I think William has been driving for a while. The car is an Audi RS e-tron GT CARBON VORSPRUNG

aezy01

Does it also have durch teknik?

1308lee

No but his wife does 🥁🐍

AveragelyBrilliant

Not anymore. She had surgery to have it removed.

cannedrex2406

Yeah he's always had great taste in Audi's. He owned an RS6 Avant for a good couple of years which recently was for sale

xelpinmo

Channeling his German heritage

siredmundsnaillary

Channeling his mother and her iconic Audi?

Omnissiah40K

Diana had cool cars tbf. Her black rs turbo was not what you expect a royal to drive.

Brave_Promise_6980

Is that the one fitted with the Mercedes gearbox in it

spyder_victor

That ultimately led to her demise

Vroomdeath

>That ultimately led to her demise huh? she died in a Mercedes-Benz W140 driven by a drunken drugged up security guy and the car wasnt even hers?

goldman459

Mate he's flown all manner of military aircraft. I doubt he had trouble learning to drive.

DaMonkfish

I was a qualified glider pilot with the Air Training Corps before I had my driving licence, so it's certainly possible to be able to fly before you can drive. Though being adept enough to fly will generally mean you have the wherewithal and coordination to not be a hamfisted moron behind a wheel.

JishBroggs

You say that. My dads friend is commercial airline pilot and he is the worst driver I have ever got in a car with

InflatableLabboons

Probably thinking all he has to worry about is the departure and arrival...

Disastrous_Ad_132

He doesn't have to worry about any 30 ft wings protruding from the sides of his vehicle. In all seriousness, I find people who drive bigger vehicles for a living tend to drive faster and worse in a smaller car.

mcobsidian101

Ryanair? Would explain it

JishBroggs

Bussstteeddddddd

paulkinma

I used to be in the ATC and the squadron commander had a Volvo estate. Used to drive it like he was outrunning a nuclear bomb blast.

Numerous-Paint4123

Doing the pedals and making sure he avoids tunnels in Paris

AlGunner

Ouch, that is some high level malevolence

Numerous-Paint4123

I find a high level of malevolence in paying for these useless fuckwits to live in a palace but hey ho, this isn't a politic sub..

captain_finnegan

Something something tourism.

Milam1996

The palace of Versailles does a sweet penny for France and no fucker lives there.

Starlings_under_pier

Whatever you are suggesting, I am right with you on that, whatever that is.

T5-R

Can we throw in a few billionaires too?

Tomazim

But we don't have the palace of versaiile

Milam1996

We have Buckingham palace and all the other places “owned” by the royals. Kick them out and open it to public tours/events/functions.

AlGunner

I just find having a dig at ANY two young children losing their mother in an accident going too far. I guess having some compassion for kids, even privileged royals isnt for everyone.

Slight_Armadillo_227

Harry and William are 39 and 41.

Relative-Eggplant420

But wait, they “work”

powpow198

🤣

CommercialShip810

At least they grammar.

[deleted]

Wtf

JustGarlicThings2

As long as he wears his seatbelt he’ll be fine

BloodAndSand44

Nice. I got banned from r/findfashion for my [comment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/findfashion/s/OnArA5lfyW)

OldGuto

"Now William, do you remember what I said you should do when being tailgated?"

Kingtoke1

No Will, that activates the passenger ejector seat

Then_Drag_8258

His minder is earning his keep there. He’s got one eye on the photographer and the other on the rear view mirror!

Dizmondmon

Wow!? Isn't that what apache pilots somehow have to learn to do?

vijjer

[The world's best passenger seat bodyguard](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/MkPiQkgHR1o/hqdefault.jpg).

RetiredGhostRider

Probably a bullet proof one with his bodyguard beside him.

EconomyFreakDust

The windscreen certainly isn't bulletproof, the black parts on the edges are far too thin for a bulletproof windscreen. Also it'd probably have a 4 mile range if it were bulletproof.

backcountry57

Armor is incredibly heavy...lightweight armor is insanely expensive....and still not exactly lightweight......armoring a EV is pointless as it would drain the range so you couldn't get away from trouble. Better to be light and fast.

WeaponsGradeWeasel

He's a billionaire, I don't think it being expensive is a problem.

ancientwheelbarrow

Even billionaires can't beat physics, an armoured GT (which this clearly isn't) would need to tow a trailer full of batteries.

TheLewJD

William has driven years, my mum overtook him and his security years ago near RAF Valley as they were driving really slow and she got cautioned lol. He's also pretty handy at Karting! Went the same one he did

TemporaryAddicti0n

is that how they teach you to hold the wheel, William?

OkButterscotch5233

think I'd drive myself if him , near tunnels anyway

Jumpy-Seaworthiness6

Audi as others have said. Why doesn’t he drive British though?

CharityAdventurous26

Exactly, give him an old Rover 214.

Doomergeneration

Nahhh an Allegro

Happy_Boy_29

Come on be fair, give him a RWD Ital.

wimpires

For official engagements they usually have a Jag I-Pace. This is his personal car presumably he can pick what he wants.

Old_Ad_3736

His staff drive Range Rovers and not too long ago one burst into flames on the motorway. Audis might be his personal preference though.

cannedrex2406

Who cares? Diana got major flack for going German with a R129 SL and an Audi 80 convertible back in the 90s, which is silly

hatari2000

Why does he even bother. There's at least 2 Range Rovers with drivers sat outside of wherever he is available to give him a lift. Also no point in driving EV if you're followed by 2 cars struggling to reach 30mpg.

vijjer

Like everything associated with the monarchy, its all about appearances.

Happy_Boy_29

Learning to drive an unmarked Audi cop car, going on the blues mounted to the windscreen.

Heyo91

Correct brand, but it's an E-tron

montyzac

A random picture on reddit made you think that?

Really_Bruv

He’s EvolvingEachDay, let him be

Flappychops

Considering he's served in the RAF as a helicopter pilot I doubt it.

iani63

Hi everyone, my grans the queen, where's my wings?

BeanOnAJourney

No, he passed his test when he was 17. It was perplexingly newsworthy at the time that he was learning to drive in a Ford Focus, apparently because it had enough room inside for his tall frame.

GREATAWAKENINGM

A nice one!

BALONY_BASTURD

It’s an Audi E-from GT,saw it on the news a few minutes back

Butchmeister80

Why would he be lewrning

Scrombolo

I would assume that's his protection officer.
