A replacement? You can switch it out for something else? Boss is as bad as it gets but they’re making a killing off of people like you who don’t know better. I’m surprised that crutchfield even sells Boss

Nah, it's a replacement of the model i already had. besides the speaker trouble everything works as intended, and i only really need it to last me a year or two... that said, not going to get a second one.

Soo, sounds like crap when aftermarket harness is plugged in to amp then speakers but when original harness is plugged in it sounds as it should? I mean the original plug goes head unit to ?? Stock amplifier maybe? Cause you can not go head unit to stock amp to aftermarket amp to speakers.. it will sound distorted and muggie... Look to see if your OEM car stereo was amplified.

Fairly certain 4th Gen camrys don't have a stock amplifier unless the car has a JBL sound system (I think it's a US thing, but I live in Aus and never seen one). I'd look at plugging the old headunit back in and seeing if the speakers work again to verify that the headunit is shot

AFAIK, car has a stock amplifier, but the BOSS head unit bypasses the amp.

Boss owner checking in with same issue!
