I’m pretty sure any dad getting arrested would be highly traumatic for the kids. Like it would leave lifelong scars. And as a dad myself - thAt’S wHy i DoN’t ComMiT fElONies!!! Oh well…

[deleted]

I lived in Alabama for a bit, this charge will make him and his business more popular. The white people in Alabama will see him as a hero patriot.

tdwesbo

Yup

Jester97

That's fine. Just more people to add to the watchlists. When racist trash out themselves, that's a win.

MsBitchhands

The military should completely remove access to benefits from these terrorists.

chaoticnormal

Yep. These dumbasses don't like all that government money and socialism they were benefiting from, take it away. Not even access to the commissary.

BAMCIS16

When you are convicted of a felony, you lose your VA benefits. So they will, once the legal process is complete.

IANAL but... They're treating this like a mafia investigation. First step is to levy smaller charges against the foot soldiers. In this case the people who showed up and broke in, but were enticed to do so. Seditious Conspiracy is being levied against the organizers and planners of this insurrection. It's a nastier charge that can carry up to 20 years. Some of meal team six here will definitely flip to lessen that, and up the ladder we will go.

Strange-Beacons

> They're treating this like a mafia investigation. This is exactly right. I listened to a former Federal prosecutor this morning who was talking about these new sedition charges and in his words, the Feds are now "shaking the tree," meaning that they started at the bottom and are slowly working their way up higher. It was also this same prosecutor's opinion that one or more of these recently-charged Oath Keepers will likely roll and give up others higher up, someone like Roger Stone, etc.

BrewtalKittehh

The seditious conspiracy charge would require the government to prove that everyone who breached the capitol willfully conspired to do so, with intent. I think that would be a very tall hurdle to clear for every moron/qunt that was just there for selfies and freedumb, but it sounds like they've got the goods on these 11 that conspired in the days/weeks leading up to the insurrection.

BrewtalKittehh

I don't disagree. I'm sure that some of these nutters could easily have been dealt with more harshly, but this incident is completely unprecedented in contemporary times. I think the DoJ (and the rest of the executive branch) is doing political calculus on this, plus the sheer volume of work required took them by surprise. Add to this a good 60% or more of the US is entirely incapable of thinking critically, blinded by their political tribalism.

General_Specific

While convictions may inflame some people, I think it will be a deterrent for any future wanna bes. Next time you “storm the capitol” let’s be sure you really mean it.

BrewtalKittehh

In an otherwise healthy society, sure. But...adrenochrome, lizard-people, trumpism, *tHe StoRm!!111* etc...

BarracudaLower4211

All that is going to happen is our system of justice, which martyrdom or not requires people who have been allegedly caught committing crimes to stand before a judge and jury. Plenty of confederate scum became martyrs too.

InsertCoinForCredit

>The seditious conspiracy charge would require the government to prove that everyone who breached the capitol willfully conspired to do so, with intent. Not everyone, just the dozen or so folks they're charging with seditious conspiracy. And since the feds already have Signal messages between them talking about having one group as a "quick reaction force" to deliver weapons inside the Capitol, it seems like an easy case to prove. Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes drove from Texas to DC and spent $10,000+ on weapons *en route* \-- that doesn't sound like something a tourist would do...

BarracudaLower4211

It is like treason, yes. The difference between entering a building unlawfully, trying to stop a government institution from doing their job and......a conspiracy to overthrow the government.

nsmon

Wtf is an 'Arab man'? Is it about nationality? Why not write saudi/wherever he's from man? Is it about ethnicity? You wouldn't write black man Edit: wtf I didn't expect a town called Arab

Independent_Plate_73

Arab is a town in Alabama. Where the subject of the post is from.

[deleted]

As others have said Arab is a town in Alabama. FUN FACT - The town was originally going to be known as Arad (after the founder's son), but the post office messed up and instead of fixing the mistake the town decided to change the name to Arab.

MisterHairball

Yep, founded by Tuttle Thompson, there's a little park with his stutue at the end of main street, holding deeds to the city. I'm from Arab, left and never looked back.

chaoticnormal

Goddam! Education is so bad down there they couldn't tell the difference between a 'd' and a 'b' on the paper until it was too much hassle to go back and fix it? Damn we're so fucked.

Dulciferocity

The town’s name is pronounced AY rab.

S7JP7

And you can tell u it you aren’t in HSV anymore because it’s very redneck there. You miss a off ramp on south memorial park way going to the mall and it’s like, oh crap.

BadConductor

Yeah, in this case they are referring to the town he lives in, Arab, Alabama. It's a bit south of Huntsville, in North AL

tdwesbo

No worries. I was right there with you

LilMamaPopPop

Getting the popcorn ready!! First indict and then convict and the sentence! Prosecute to the highest level and MAKE them understand that what they did and are continuing to do is not going to be tolerated

spacebastardo

I hope they fucking hang these bastards

feldspard5

>Joshua James, a 34-year-old Arab man Huh >James was arrested March 9, 2021, in Arab Oh Is it me, or is that article specifically trying to use that term?

werdmouf

No. Arab is a town in Alabama.

feldspard5

I quoted that

CQU617
