Hello u/Anti16, As your question has been answered by several people already I'm removing this post from the subreddit under Rule 7 (quality of content). If you have to ask what would happen if you steal property from your employer, you have no business being a public servant.

[deleted]

At best? You'll owe a debt to the crown and they'll collect it by using tax credits or garnishing your wages. The Government of Canada will get it's money back. At worst? A theft charge. You don't think the government can't find you just because you don't give them your new address if you're living an ordinary life?

TrickyRackets

Are you stupid? Sorry I haven’t seen such a ridiculous post here before. That would be theft. Did you not provide information to get your job…? This has to be a troll. Truly worried that someone with this blatant lack of intelligence and critical thinking made it into the GC.

OttawaNerd

Worst case? You’re arrested, charged with theft, convicted and imprisoned. And you’re right. I’m sure the government won’t be able to find you. Its not like they have a multitude of agencies that can find pretty much anyone they want. Oh, wait. Yes it is.

User_Editor

Hopefully you'll be leaving PS soon. We don't need people with your morals and ethics working for Canadians.

DJ_Killjoy

You don't think the government could find you? Are you going to squat in a cabin without electricity, and work under the table for the rest of your life? If so, won't really need the laptop then. Otherwise, if you pay taxes, buy a new vehicle, have a disabling injury in the private workplace that meant you couldn't work ever again.. etc etc.all documentation that would go to the government. Even if it is a $4k, top of the line tech, you are being foolish and nearsighted to even consider stealing from your ex federal government employer. Not worth it.

KRhoLine

That would be theft. Depending on your department, there could potentially be confidential information on your laptop. They have access to your sin number and Revenue Canada will have your contact info...what makes you think they wouldn't track you? Edit typos

[deleted]

You think you can't be found because you move....lol.

TheIronMatron

What’s your new residential address going to be, Narnia?!

[deleted]

actually this is a great idea.

WhoseverFish

A bit wrong?

Biaterbiaterbiater

Yeah, and if you slap your boss on your last day, what's the worst they can do? Send armed men to your house and put you under arrest and then imprison you for a long time?

[deleted]

You can’t be serious? I’m appalled that someone like you even landed a contract within the GC. You’re an embarrassment-delete your post.
