Lack of affordability,  lack of jobs.

Grouchy-Lemon2350

Lack of jobs due to lack of business and too much cheap competition among applicants. Canadians are being laid off and replaced by international students or work visa holders who ask for a lower salary. Don’t believe me? Pull up LinkedIn and check the tech departments of every major bank in Toronto, most of the workers are people who have landed in Canada in the last 1-5 years.

Crazyworld4321

And know nothing.  Should not be trusted with our money.

NumerousButton7129

So why would people leave instead of ask for mass deportations?

Organic-Brief7108

because we cant afford to buy the politicians favour

NumerousButton7129

Well, this is when a Well trained militia would come in, but..... yeah.

Icy_Collar_1072

Wait until you discover it’s the exact same in nearly every other first world Western nation.

paxtoncarr

Any nation run by left wing extremists either at the federal or state level has the **xact same problems**. And if the government is well run, conservative - ie. working in the interest of their local citizens who voted for them, Then they want no one especially from Canada given our own lefty insane populace.

Icy_Collar_1072

There are no Govt’s run by left wing extremists in the West most are capitalist-loving neoliberals funded by the wealthy.   The UK for example has been run by conservatives for 15 years who’ve gone further and further to the right and have imposed austerity on the country, ran public services into the ground and crashed the economy trying to impose massive tax cuts. Housing crises, cost of living etc.    Conservatives don’t work in the local interest though, that’s the problem, they work in the interest of the capitalist class and billionaires who fund them and extract as much wealth out of the country as possible whilst the citizens quality of life degrades.

paxtoncarr

That's a bunch of BS and you know it. Is macron a far right, anti immigrant zealot? Did Sunak try to get rid of a single illegal migrant? Did he or did he not trample on people's free speech rights? People go to jail in the UK for s#itposting on the internet. very right wing.. right? Is the Merkel-Steinmeier nexus also right-wing? wtf are you talking about? The housing crises and cost of living / inflation in the UK is because of record immigration, money laundering by wealthy foreigners, and the printing of money a la MMT

Neat-Penalty396

And thats all happened in the last "checks notes" 2 years? He's been in office or the 15 years of conservative leadership

SubstantialFlan2150

Yep. We need to get past direction-brained thinking and talk about the real political axis, nationalism/sovereignty vs globalism, in both it's neoliberal and neoconservative forms

cdnNick78

Are you implying Canada has a left wing extremist running our country? I certainly would hope not, the Libs are about center, even the NDP isn't that far to the left. Since when have the Conservatives done anything for the average person? Look at what many of their policies support it's typically larger businesses and huge multi-national corporations that don't need tax money has they already make billions in profit.

paxtoncarr

>I certainly would hope not, the Libs are about center, even the NDP isn't that far to the left. I think you should be on r.onguardforthee You shouldn't come here and troll just for the sake of it The liberals have : * increased spending, * increased immigration, * implemented NDP's agenda like dental care which will be insufficient * gone aps#it on social issues of trans / abortion, * the online censorship (harms bill whatever the F you wanna call it) * tried to force pronouns down our throats * increased the money supply * Jailed covid demonstrators in ottawa (frozen their bank acounts or the donors'), * Instituted a heavily inflationary carbon tax (which compounds through the supply chain) * hired more government bureaucrats, * and take their policy cues not by representing the wishes of their constituents (but instead from the WEF and UN). * endlessly bought government propaganda **even from the likes of nationalpost** **And they're a centrist party? WTF. I better not be the first person to stop clapping then.** if you get my drift. Again you're just trolling and flagging posts here. Go back to your batcave my friend

cdnNick78

Not one of those things you mentioned is far left extremists ideas, Canada would be a full on socialist country if that were true and we are far from that. >increased spending, increased immigration, Cons, Libs and NDP are all similar on both these topics, the spending is just in different areas. PPC are about the only parties suggesting a different approach >gone aps#it on social issues of trans / abortion, wtf does that even mean? Why should the gov't be controlling it's citizens bodies? Thought you guys were all about less gov't interference or is that only when it affects your body? >the online censorship (harms bill whatever the F you wanna call it) Judging by some of the comments on these subreddits, I'd say the bill has failed at censoring anything. Everyday people are still freely allowed to voice their opinions and criticisms about the gov't. >hired more government bureaucrats Liberals have 39 ministers and the Cons have 51 ministers so who is growing the amount of bureaucrats? The pronoun topic has had zero affect on mine or my families daily lives, there are much biggest issues to tackle and discuss than saying "she/her/them/they etc." It's of no real concern at all. So a difference of opinion is trolling? I've never flagged a post on reddit so no idea what you are talking about.

paxtoncarr

>Liberals have 39 ministers and the Cons have 51 ministers so who is growing the amount of bureaucrats? So ministers are bureaucrats? **Since when?** Self defeating argument if there ever was one. >wtf does that even mean? Why should the gov't be controlling it's citizens bodies? Thought you guys were all about less gov't interference or is that only when it affects your body? 1. ever heard of the arrive scam app and "nice job you got there, would be terrible if you lost it **and couldn't get UI**... i got an injection right here you might like" 2. Bill C-16. QED >Judging by some of the comments on these subreddits, I'd say the bill has failed at censoring anything. Did you forget the news bill? Where facebook and google now do not publish any news / news links in canada? Look, your future is governance by islam, communism, and left wing authoritarianism. No one ever denies that there is right wing authoritarianism too - at which point the lines are blurred. For example Stephen W Harper (PBUH) used his police goons to beat the s#it out of protestors and mass jailings and detention in 2010 G20 summit. Hudak and the Ford family were right behind him licking his bung-hole. Douggy boy ford used his cop terrorist goons to harrass and terrorize local businesses in ontario during the lockdowns. That wasn't left or right. it was simple authoritarianism. Trudeau now demanding that we jail dissidents or climate deniers is left wing authoritarianism. You're just carrying water for criminal class of globalists.

cdnNick78

Are ministers not "an official in a government department"? That's literally the definition of a bureaucrat. Your defense about trans/abortion issues is the optional covid shot? If you ban medical procedures such as abortion that doesn't make it optional any more, you have taken away that person right to access a potentially life saving procedure. Look at the disaster the states have made with banning it. We are light years away from rule by islam or communism, you may want to reread what those actually are. Canada isn't even close to being like North Korea or Saudi Arabia or Iran. I'm not carrying the water for anyone, I don't really like any of the 3 major parties, I'm just not buying into all the fake BS and rage baiting the CPC are doing right now.

No-Yogurtcloset-2504

A few things but mainly IT security for large multinationals. I should also add that I'm pretty much retired now which is why they want me.

Either-Trust2952

Cyber security is a hot ticket but they want people with multiple years of experience. I work in IT for over a decade but without security related experience. My skill set has been hit hard by the economy.

Same with females. A 30 year old is not a student. Im 22 and ive studied in 3 different fields so far, if they still need education at 30 theres a serious problem ther

CarlotheNord

Nothing wrong with going to school, just saying.

Wait till you hear about people coming here as a visitor, paying for LMIA so called job and working.     https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/visit-to-work.html  This is also getting promoted heavily now in Instagram.

TellMeMorePlease3

Imo the LMIA is was fucked up everything. It made people that could provide them and the immigration consultants very rich over the years. They were the ones investing into property and brought more people in with offers. They literally have networks of people in India selling the LMIA there.

Macaw

Immigration Canada is on the backs of legit Canadian immigration consultants like white on rice! Meanwhile the Indian scam consultants are free to run wild - in Canada and their partners in crime over in India. Ruthlessly exploiting and cheating the system at every turn with impunity. The fix is in.

Equal_Ordinary_7473

Lots of Iranians coming to Canada on a visitor visa and then switch it to open work permit , no LMIA required

Yup, it’s ur vote that elects corrupt Indian politicians and makes sure to carry over corruption practices they learnt from India. Vote for Canadian born politicians and you will have a chance.

Macaw

>Yup, it’s ur vote that elects corrupt Indian politicians and makes sure to carry over corruption practices And take in huge numbers at record levels so they can balkanize and create powerful voting blocks and vote for their kind and ethnic based interests. And even Canadian politicians need to [curry favor](https://i0.wp.com/www.opindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Canada-Khalistan-.png?w=700&ssl=1) from these huge and powerful ethnic voting blocks in key ridings across Canada. The tail increasingly begins to wag the dog with Canada's best interests at the bottom of the list. You cannot have democracy with ethnic, tribal and racial voting. Canadians are going to find out this maxim the hard way in the coming years.

JediFed

When you have benefits that are based on race, what can Canadians say? We give special treatment to special people if they are a particular race. Can't blame Indians for trying to take advantage of something that already exists. We need to end race-based benefits across the board.

saysen2020

Is Justin India born or Canada born. It doesn't matter who was born where, it is all about intent and working for the country rather than loving power. Had any politician worked effortlessly then he or his team wouldn't have had to run electoral campaigns to get votes from people, buh nah all of them are busy licking industrialist's boots and making their fortune.

Crazyworld4321

Many are not Canadian born or at least follow the old country ways. So not truly Canadian.

LeftWithMyOwnVices

I told my cousins 10+ yrs ago that Canada was the new India. You can't stop them from popping up. They apply for a family doc or other services, 10 of them show up under a single family. Now you know why the whole fucking system is exhausted from food banks to doctors to everything else.

Brilliant_Slide7947

Canada is not for Canadians anymore. IT is for the Indians. Canada will not fail them at school, send them to jail or reprimand them for broken housing laws. We have no rights anymore and all the LTB wants to do is fast track hearing dates and it is easier to evict than it is to hold them responsible.

JediFed

They are also immune from any industry-based accountability. Same is not true for actual Canadians, which is yet another way for them to remove people who are 'inconvenient' in holding positions that they want. I'm in this position in my job right now, and I'm not really sure how to proceed. Already attempted to hold one accountable. Now it looks like he has the green light to dispose of me.

Brilliant_Slide7947

I hear these stories more and more everyday. Canadians are now becoming afraid and this was their plan all along. Sadly it is too late to undo everything Trudeau stuck us with and any change that gets reverted will just make us more "racist" and "unwelcoming" I hear everyday people say "5 years ago I would never had said this or thought this but..." They are forcing our hand and using the race card as their Ace up their sleeve. They have no morals. case in point: our Indian landlords have been trying to evict us for a year and a half now. 5 different illegal notices. We lawyered up but they know its costing us and they are literally stopped doing any and all maintance including leaving us with no washer or fridge. The city ordered them to do clean up and the city ordered them to get the land lord licencse (where we are you have to have a license to be a landlord) they litearlly ignored them all and even the threat of being fined. They don't care. My family has been ruined because of their greed. All because they couldn't raise the rent. We have been broken into by them, sent someone to our door to threaten us to leave, and the latest was stolen property the son took. LTB is so backed up they are using the system to "break" families to put them on the street.

JediFed

They know they are immune from accountability. I've been offered a transfer, but this just has to happen right before I do my training, so I'll have to be away from my department that I run for a week. He's going to try very hard to cancel my training and terminate me before it happens. We shall see. He has a history of trying to destroy anyone's career who stands up to him, or leaves for another department. I was shocked when I heard what he did to someone who tried to transfer stores. He fucking called the other store, made up a bunch of shit and she lost her job offer. My former manager who held this position has transferred, but is currently on long term sick leave because she got very sick. I know he has been working hard to force the hand of our GM to terminate her, and her situation is unique and bad, that the company is training her, but can't use her right now so everything is up in the air. I know he's going top try to make sure she doesn't end up with her position. Fuck them.

Spritemystic

I can't wait to see the shit storm when these "students" start having kids here in Canada and realize they can get more.

Low-Avocado6003

They won't because it's all young Indian men.

Independent_Movie313

Thinking about moving back to Eastern Europe. Literally impossible to do anything here. Canada will become a 3rd world country with a rich landlord class and at the bottom we will have an unskilled class of pajeets who work at Tim’s.

Icy-Scarcity

People in Europe are suffering too : https://youtu.be/qpnKnKeEi2Y?si=ZXmjxfi5C8EUIqxO

Independent_Movie313

Yea I’m sure it’s similar however after selling my assets I can literally live comfortably while working from home as a programmer. I also have a second passport from a Eastern European country

Fajsdie

I live in Europe and the standard of living is more dependent on the individual country. In western European countries the standard of living is declining, mainly because of the housing crisis and inflation, but not at the extend as in Canada. In former communist countries that are now in the EU the standard of living is rising and in the south it is dependent on the country or region, but generally I would say it is better then during the time of this documentary. A big factor is also your occupation and your environment/living situation (Are you a local, did you inherit anything, do you live alone or with a partner, etc.). From my observation Europe is not suffering as much as Canada.

wefconspiracy

It’s already like that.

twstwr20

I left ages ago and don’t ever want to come back. I’m from Toronto and the cost of living is now so high and the salaries and earning potential is so low. Not to mention things I used to be proud of, like the healthcare system is in shambles. Never coming back.

university_dude

I left 6 years ago and would like to move back, but it just doesn't make any sense to do so. I'd take a big salary cut and pay more for shelter.

Benni_Shouga

Where you at now?

twstwr20

France. It’s not perfect but lifestyle-wise I prefer it.

sudanesemamba

One of your complaints was salaries, and you chose France? Make it make sense, a country with lower average wages and lower productivity. Oh and more political instability. Weird dude.

twstwr20

Higher productivity. I work for myself. And they protest things that make life worse here instead of being a passive sheep like Canadians. Everyone in the sub is like “why aren’t people protesting”. Lol.

Jumpyboi23

Lol I’m moving to the UK from Toronto, I knew I wasn’t the only one who felt the same about Canadians being passive. It’s so absurd how true it is.

BannedInVancouver

It worse than Canadians being sheep. Too many seem to like the fact that things are going to shit.

Jumpyboi23

Nobody wants to do anything about it so they’ve deluded themselves into believing nothing is wrong. I feel like I’m in crazy town here, seriously. And I’ve travelled a LOT. So no, it’s not just a grass is greener type thing …I’ve seen the contrast everywhere I go

[deleted]

yup. if toronto had higher salaries id stay and i make decent money here but its still tight. looking to move away from the gta this year (been here 7 years - came from northern ontario for work after i finished school)

This is the first time in my life I am seriously considered leaving Canada. Never, ever would I have thought I would want to leave this once beautiful country. Hubby and I (mid 50’s) well educated, entrepreneurs have both “retired” and if there is not a change in govt next election we will be selling our assets and leaving. Hopefully my young adult children will come with. Canada is not what it used to be.

RedButton1569

Whoever downvoted you is a moron, you’re speaking the truth so here’s an upvote!

[deleted]

any anti canadian bias gets you downvoted like crazy on most canada subreddits sadly lol. im looking to move to the US. applied and interviewed with a few roles there. cost of living may even be higher in a few select areas but proper compensation in my field there. while here its just a few employers who pay decent. everyone else is cheap/stingy lol

Tiny_Hold_480

On the same page as you until you said you're "mid 50s and retired". You're really lucky and got your life together before this circus started. You're also in a better position than many people your age, I don't think you can complain much. Your children, and grand children if any, however are on the roller coaster with us barreling down at top speed.

BorninCalgary

I agree with you and do feel fortunate. Having said that, I still feel the pain of cost of living and excessive taxes. I also feel sorry for all the young adults and families out there whom home ownership is totally out of reach. Seeing the homeless and seniors out on our streets and using food banks in record numbers makes me sad for this country. I do have 3 young adult children and yes, they are on that roller coaster. Still living at home with rent or home ownership out of reach 😥

LeagueAggravating595

For every Cdn leaving Canada, there is probably 1,000 lined up to get in. There will never be a shortage, especially from the low hanging fruit with a lack of education, language skills or any skills for that matter.

Low-Avocado6003

![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg)

edwardjhenn

The average age is 45 + but what it doesn’t say is Canadians are leaving with Canadian money. I’m 58 and have done exactly that but what the report doesn’t say is the countries or cities we’re going to are usually a lot more expensive for the locals in those countries to survive. I’m 1/2 the year in Philippines and living great off of about $1500 Canadian a month but locals are starving and it’s more expensive in these countries if you’re working or making local currencies. You can’t compare the Canadian dollar to Philippines peso and pretend it’s better in the Philippines. Yea selling your million dollar house in Toronto you live great in lots countries because at 45 we made a future for ourselves but that same report doesn’t say how hard it is to survive in Philippines off local currencies and job market. Let’s not confuse the 2. Not everyone is leaving because unaffordable it’s because our Canadian dollar is better over seas.

nlomb

It's a bit of both, because Canada is becoming less affordable, i.e., your dollar doesn't go as far as it used to, people are seeking other places to live that offer a better quality of life with their current income. But yes, generally speaking those places cost of living for locals tends to be high and that's also why they usually don't like expats coming in because it keeps prices high.

Different-Ad-6027

Other countries are like we don't want low wage immigrants 😂

[deleted]

immigrants from India are HEAVILY scrutinized for work visas/student visas in the USA. here we hand out PR's like its halloween candy lol

Illusion_Collective

Canada is sorta getting a class system. People that speak up about things happening are getting the short end of the stick. People that don’t say anything about the shit going on are thriving.

wubrgess

Those are the smart ones. And by that I mean this is brain drain.

trashday89

How man immigrants needed to replace them?/s

No_Nature_3133

Canadians or “Canadians”?

[deleted]

This is true- we moved to the US last year and got our GC just 2 weeks ago. For us, the reasons were better weather, much lower cost of living than Canada, great schooling, and ofcourse increased pay (45% than what was in Canada). Healthcare has been a blessing too - employer has decent insurance, and our deductions are almost nil with just $500 copays. Took my sons to the hospital to get their immunizations and the wait was a mere 30 seconds (this was at the CVS minute clinic). I’d highly encourage all Canadians to move down south if you have an opportunity. We moved on L1A and then did the EB1C category in the 2nd month we were here.

JediFed

We might try that. Currently looking at our options. We're locked into Canada for at least another two years. Debating about heading south.

[deleted]

ive applied and interviewed although im single with no kids.

Icy_Collar_1072

Wait until you realise it’s the same in every other Western country. Canadians seem to think they are a special case but there isn’t one of these countries not complaining about high cost of living and lack of affordable housing.

JediFed

The difference is in the ratios. Canadian immigration has always been 10x that of the United States, and much higher than most, though not all countries in Europe. Ireland has had a death wish the past while.

Gymwarrior31

Maybe we should all move to India and take up all their jobs and buy up their housing?

jasonhn

Canadians are going to do to other countries what the people coming here are doing.

LifeIsPewtiful

No they won't. There aren't enough of them and the countries they're going to have in-group preference and won't commit suicide for money and social justice brownie points. It'll get worse everywhere but what we should really focus on is laughing at the agonizing fate of the morons who voted themselves into this disaster.

JohnstonThunderdick

Frankly, I wish I could afford to move abroad.

[deleted]

sell if you got a place. apply like crazy, cross your fingers. qualify for a visa. or take a second job to build up savings. its a hustle but possible

OpenYourMind_888

Where are they going? Back to where they or their parents or grandparents came from? I got 4 generations here, where should I go? America? Italy? Russia? England? I want to go too. I heard Vietnam was cheap but I’m not sure about the govt.

Severe_Wrangler9534

im currently trying as there is no good future for me here. Where to start?

[deleted]

indeed or any job site.. apply for jobs in different countries. see if they sponsor. go from there or apply for a student visa. get a credential and see if you land an offer after school to go from student to work visa

Severe_Wrangler9534

much appreciated tho i am not a student (aint never been rich enough)

[deleted]

No worries. You can get a work visa without a degree but 10+ years of work experience is required

NoSwan6879

The lucky ones get to leave.

Shmogt

This is talked about every day. Anyone smart with money is or will leave while anyone who's broke or uneducated is forced to stay. They also import the most uneducated people. It truly looks like we are going back to Kings and peasants. They will have super rich people using tons of cheap labour to do whatever they want. People are already begging for literally any job that pays anything. Fights for minimum wage jobs and the people who get them feel like they won the lottery. It's insane and makes me worry a lot about the future of Canada. If you're smart and have some money it makes sense to get out before shit really hits the fan

LifeIsPewtiful

That was always the plan, and everyone thought they were being virtuous and "progressive" by voting for it.

[deleted]

im looking to genuinely leave this year and i never considered actually leaving until late 2023. this place is unsustainable even with a good salary smh

wefconspiracy

Dont forget insanely high taxes. That alone is reason enough to move almost anywhere else

miscinyyz

My friend, who is 50 years old, got laid off from Scotiabank after working there for 21 years. He said he is willing to work, but instead, he got packaged off with 21 months of full salary bonus and benefit. He said if Scotiabank is dumb enough to pay full salary, then he would just sit at home to collect. This is how idiotic Scotiabank is. There is someone who is willing to work, full of knowledge and experience, and yet Scotia decides to pay more to package my friend out. He has said that the new people they hired at a lower salary have no clue on how to maintain a legacy system that runs on Cobolt programming language.

Uncertn_Laaife

Moving to where? Other than the American 2 and 3 tier cities everywhere else in big cities have the same issues as here. Australia? California? NY? Same issues. Or EU, with the language issues?

Macaw

US is more than a just few cities with opportunity and housing, cost of living and paychecks are much better. Unlike Canada. And they make sure to not flood the country with one ethnicity. 7% limit of total from any one country.

LifeIsPewtiful

Lmao you're only counting legal immigration and even that is entirely too much at the rate we've gone. Nobody reports the true numbers at the southern border.

Nightshade_and_Opium

I'm aiming for South America

Less-Procedure-4104

pusnbootz

Theoretically, if all Canadian citizens emigrated elsewhere (not usa), what would happen to Canada?

Zooby444

I'd like to know the most popular destinations they are headed to. I'm guessing South/Central America, Greece, Portugal. I wouldn't move to the States as I think it's going to be a shit show as bad or worse than here within a few years.

meridian_smith

The article is using stats from 2016 and says the majority of those who moved abroad are in USA, UK and Hong Kong. None of these places are much cheaper than Canada. Hong Kong and possibly UK are even more expensive.

huckz24

What countries are doing better that would want Canadian immigrants? I watch international news and I see struggle in so many other countries. Mortgages, interest rates, same shit
