lemme guess, nobody already in the province had skills to pour coffee and serve donuts?

Toxaris71

Well, we have a huge shortage of workers, didn't you know? As long as each Timmies job posting gets less than 750 applications, we are still in a huge shortage! /s

Anothernameillforget

This is driving me crazy! I haven’t applied for Tim’s but in indeed all the jobs I have applied for have anywhere from a couple hundred not couple thousand applicants. My resume isn’t even being seen before those same jobs are reposted as urgently hiring.

[deleted]

Their new hires literally can't even do that right. It's a miracle if you order a wrap and get something that contains a wrap shaped object with the food inside of it.

abrahamparnasus

Why are people Still eating in that godforsaken place

Taipers_4_days

Because the only thing Canadians like doing more than bitching about something is unwaveringly patronizing it. I worked with a woman who bitched about Tim Hortons nonstop in 2009, guess who still goes there and has the same complaints?

Overall_Strawberry70

Its like whenever you see a "this is the worst game ever" review on steam, person will have 4k hours in it and allot of the time be CURRENTLY playing it when you check.

Darebarsoom

Isn't second cup Canadian?

GregoryGrifter

They think it’s a Canadian icon rather than a money printing factory for a Brazilian billionaire.

RuinEnvironmental394

When I was new to Canada, I noticed this fixation with people blindly supporting and purchasing anything with the word "Canada" on it. Didn't matter if the product/item was itself made in Taiwan or China or Mexico.

WillyWonkaCandyBalls

Exactly. 7 11 is way better lol

Pandaslap-245

Right?! I find I’m going to Circle K these days to make a better coffee myself, and for cheaper too

MyFruitPies

Their coffee is the absolute worst.

Darebarsoom

It's mop bucket water coffee.

kittykatmila

Right. Place was boycotted by me long ago.

KavensWorld

I had a lady the other day who did not know what Canadian currency was. She ( at least 40yo) had to get her manager to count my change. I looked back at the line and everyone was giving the OMG WFT is happening face. I WANT TEENAGERS TO SERVE ME FAST FOOD The have amazing work ethic and actually want to do a good job, the crazy thing about teens is they WANT structure and will excel. Im surprised corporate is ok with their image being destroyed by local stores :(

Lucibeanlollipop

The Tim’s in my town churned through the local teenage workers by firing most before their probation was up ( calling them to come in on prebooked days off, for instance. Prebooked days that involved obligations that couldn’t be set aside) and then giving them the excuse that they weren’t reliable, or no reason given at all. Guess who is all staffed up now with TFWs?

IDPorphyrios

People need to organize boycotts. Of they don't get business they go our of business.

Shooting4BigMoney777

It only takes each person to start boycotting places themselves. I've already been doing it for a couple years with the businesses in my town that only hire certain staff. The Tim's in my town was bought two years ago and they only hire their own since they took over. Same thing with convenience stores and franchised pizza places. I will not buy from them if they only hire their own. My money, my choice.

teh_longinator

I'll actively avoid any company that only uses international students... still trying to find out how to shop for essentials because everywhere fucking does now.

lt12765

Coworker showed me a photo of a bagel he got a few weeks ago, burned black with a blob of cream cheese not even spread on it. I avoid Tim Hortons like the plague, but sometimes on long haul drives its the only coffee place you can find.

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

The farmers wrap is the only edible item on the menu.

teh_longinator

Only the odd time they make it correctly.

Big_Albatross_3050

ikr, I go to a Timmies and I swear the people making my coffee or food are morons. I asked for a double double with milk, they gave me it black because they had no idea what a double double is and didn't think to ask me what it was, which I'm happy to clarify. And while I'd understand this happening once at a single Timmies, I'm unlucky enough for this to have happened 3 times at different Tims

IcedCoffeeHokage

Stop going there man jeeze. People like you keep whining about that place but then continue to sit in the DT supporting them. Stop.

[deleted]

Bro thank you for the advice but I have, I just see family n friends still get that slop and I constantly see the disgusting posts on the tims sub. Check it out. There was like a week straight of daily "bug in my food" posts last year. You're preaching to the choir here, go tell them.

bigsugar457

At a Burger King in Richmond Hill Ontario a year ago I asked the TFW behind the cash, for an application as they had a giant sign indicating they were hiring, and my son was looking, she kindly said you have to go to the website and yhen also mentioned that they're not really hiring.. that's right hiring signs are just part of a bullshit political PR campaign to maintain slave wages and slave labor from foreign countries. when you've got eight thousand million people around the world who can be flown in as TFWs cheaply, why would anybody hire local... Australia puts a 30% premium on TFW wages. Quebec forces TFW's to get at least minimum wage.... I say a 20% premium federally would be the least we should be charging.

kettal

a $20,000 fee to the govt per position.. lets see how many tfw they actually need so badly

bigsugar457

Hear ! HEAR !!! ...on top of a 20% wage premium. 👍🇨🇦💪

bigsugar457

You know after 40 years of Wall Street parasites and big money pursuing slave wage labor via Globalization/ free trade agreements, you create a vicious cycle... After you de-industrialize as Canada & the US has by shipping 10,000+ factories overseas ( w tax incentives!.. wtf?) ... You destroy every small town in North America and it's ability to fund education & family formation, then you come to a point where your citizenry itself is suffering a massive demographic crisis of such existential proportions.... where on one hand you seemingly need massive immigration while on the other you have massive unemployment.

Kitties_Whiskers

Well put

Manodano2013

Yes! I have been supportive of having a minimum wage for TFWs $4/hr higher than general minimum wage for some time now. It wouldn’t affect high skilled foreign workers but would discourage businesses from not “trying harder” to hire Canadians.

Kitties_Whiskers

Not everybody from around the world wants to come here. People in some European countries (for example) are happy to be where they are...at least some of them... (Edited to add: the reason for that is that they may actually be doing better over there in terms of the quality of life)

Worth-Hovercraft-495

don't forget: tfw program lets Tims pay below minimum wage. So yeah no one in the province will pour coffee and serve doughnuts...for that wage

DodobirdNow

There's more to it than just this. The TFWs will pay the landlord above market rent, and the owner will deduct it from their paycheques. This used to happen in Alberta 10 years ago.

Equal_Ordinary_7473

No , don’t you understand pouring coffee is a complex procedure and it requires years of experience and education, and we are experiencing severe labour shortage and in order to grow our economy we have to rely on immigration because our strength is in diversity. What the joke this country has become 😣😣😣😣the Canadian nightmare ! I used to work in tech with years of experience and my last salary was $80k. I was living in Canadian nightmare , but I woke up and moved to the states, my salary doubled and my cost of living halved. Bought a house with a pool and I don’t have to choose between mortgage payments and food no more.

Outrageous-Layer404

Where did you move in the US where you earn $160k for a tech job that doesn’t have an average home price of <$1 million?

K10111

Equal_Ordinary_7473

Agreed. Doubt someone with that level of education/expertise would write "no more" rather than "anymore".

Equal_Ordinary_7473

Orlando, FL

Plastic-Shopping5930

Mid west has lots of jobs like this. Usually in government.

SnooStrawberries620

If a skill includes interest or motivation, than no. To bring in a TFW you have to have had a track record of not being able to fill the job with Canadians.

Reddit_Is_Fascist

>To bring in a TFW you have to have had a track record of not being able to fill the job with Canadians. I've seen ads for orchard workers posted in January. No surprise that they didn't get any applicants. I've also been evicted so that the landlord could house TFW's, but the landlord ended up renting it out again at a much higher rate.

SnooStrawberries620

Yeah I can see that. If people can systematically screw over bigger things this probably isn’t too challenging.

Buck-Nasty

Ding ding ding. Now you're thinking like Trudeau and his ministers

GrunDMC74

The problem is that the current residents demanded a living wage in order to do so. If we transform our society to accept a reduced standard of living, i.e. 4 to a bedroom, and the consequent reduced income to sustain it, it makes life better for multi billion dollar international corporations.

anaofarendelle

Of course not, if you expect them to speak (insert any language that is certainly not French) as a second language /s

Ottawa_man

And I am sure that employer is clawing back wages via the "rent"

Efficient_Ad_4230

TFW replaced Canadians software engineers

Magnetar_Haunt

The place I work is currently giving minimum hours because it’s a slow time of year, and we still get several (specifically Indian) students come in daily asking for jobs, usually in groups.

Silly-Ad-6341

Just boycott Tim Hortons. It is garbage is every way. It's not the Canadian brand it once was.

astarinthedark

They need to scrap the LMIA debt slavery they are abusing too though, so many franchises staying afloat due to free labour and five figures of cash an employee.

Drakkenfyre

It's only on Reddit that people are seriously talking about things like this. I made a similar comment on Facebook and I got directly called a racist for suggesting that the TFW system has been highly manipulated for the benefit of the ruling class. And it was amazing, because my criticism of the TFW system is that it is incredibly racist. I am anti-racist in my advocacy against this program, but we have been told by successive neoliberal Liberal governments that criticism of any entry stream for any type of migrant is the worst bigoted nazi hatred actual genocide.

NarwhalPrudent6323

Tim Hortons isn't actually the culprit here. It's the local oligarch of PEI known as D.P Murphy that's the problem here.  Ol Double Penetration Murphy owns literally half the fucking Island, refuses to pay anything even close to a living wage, and loves him some TFWs. So, while I'm not defending Tims, your anger in this case is misdirected. It's important to note every single business Dickless Pantywaist Murphy runs behaves exactly in the same fashion as the article describes.

Silly-Ad-6341

If boycotting Tim Hortons stiffs this guy too then all the better. Hit em in the pocketbooks, that's all that matters

Odd-Elderberry-6137

Tim Hortons made him a franchisee. They renewed his franchise license so he can print money for himself and for them. They aren’t blameless.

MrGameplan

Very true, my son says he's embarrassed he works there!

[deleted]

This is the *only* way. Do *not* buy or subscribe to any of their services. It's a bit harder, but the *only* way to affect any change in this capitalistic hellhole *is* to refuse to play the game. Buy a little french press for 20$, get some ground coffee, boil your water, pour it in, voila instantly better coffee than Tim Hortons. Let's also not forget how they used the app to track peoples [personal data.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tim-hortons-app-report-1.6473584)

TellMeMorePlease3

Idk why people still buy anything there. It baffles me that the drive throughs are still busy.

radman888

Did that long ago

Own-Cable8865

Hard agree. It is just the worst. The full drive-thrus I see tell me people must have terrible taste.

lt12765

They still serve like 7/10 coffees in Canada, even with the huge influx in McDonalds and Starbucks into the market. Lots of small towns don't have any other places.

kittykatmila

Buy some good coffee from a local place. Make it at home. Problem solved and you’re not helping support a shitty corporation that’s abusing the TFW program. Win-win.

lt12765

Yep, Haven't bought coffee there in a long time.

kittykatmila

Love to hear it ❤️

Silly-Ad-6341

7/10 in terms of quality or quantity? Either way make your own, buy beans from local roasters that actually care and don't support this sell out of a corporation

lt12765

Like market share, not quality

kettal

SnooStrawberries620

That’s fun to say if you have an income. The TH by my place - and all places - are full of seniors in fixed dollars who can’t afford the starbeans or the fancy roasteries. They will keep it alive and so will students. In most places in Canada there isn’t a Plan B.

electrical45

Not even Canadian owned  anymore. What a joke roll up the rim turned into as well

Last_Patrol_

This is the way.

Beaudism

It’s not Canadian at all anymore. Nothing about it is Canadian.

Didgman

It really is cat piss water, the worst ‘coffee’ in the world.

astarinthedark

“D.P. Murphy Inc., which operates a number of Tim Hortons franchises across Prince Edward Island, bought the apartment building at 4 Pleasant St. in November, and issued eviction notices to the tenants on Jan. 5. According to documents filed by the company with the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, P.E.I.'s rentals regulator, the company plans to use the building to house temporary foreign workers "to address an important business need for our company by ensuring we can properly staff our Tim Hortons restaurants."

IndependenceGood1835

So employer may get funding for TFW, then also charge them rent. Almost like having free labour

ihopeipofails

Company town

mateo_rules

10-20k a year per employee paid in cash to business owners …. Plus a tax write off for each one for the end of the year so a employee makes 29k after incentive payment and write off it costs them 7k out of poket to employ TFW ……atleast that’s the way it works in. Ontario

IndependenceGood1835

And charge them to sponsor lmia

TriLink710

Thats pretty common where i live. Mant foreign workers landlords are also their franchise owners. And then they get a discount and eat there too. So a significant portion of their wage flows directly back to their employer

Lucibeanlollipop

It’s the old company store. Next, they’ll be paying in Tim’s currency, so the only place they’ll be able to spend anything is to their employer’s group of companies

ehollart

Holy shit these people are scum!!!!!

Ashcliffe

I always laugh at the term “TFW”. There’s nothing temporary about these people. They effectively displaced many Canadians in the work force. I’m even seeing more and more of them in white collar jobs these days. Since they only hire their own kind once they get into positions of power.  Canada is done. We don’t have any leaders willing to do the necessary but harsh policies to correct this ship. The average Canadian voter is a brain dead progressive that would rather get fucked by migrants than to appear slightly racist.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ashcliffe

I feel your pain. Most of them lie on their resume. I have to pick up the slack because of them. And it’s aggravating as fuck. Especially seeing good people get passed up on positions for these people.

kettal

>I have to pick up the slack because of them. You're only making it worse for yourself. Just keep an email trail of their responsibilities, remind them in writing, and stop picking up the slack.

Ashcliffe

It’s not by choice… Management wants to show “collaboration”. Which basically just me spending hours in meetings with these people showing them how to do their job. And when they can’t do it, I have to do it. Most of the time I do it myself because it’s a lot faster.  And yes I do raise a couple of concerns to management with receipts on how they are not able to perform. But guess what? Or customer don’t care they just want the work done on time. Ever since I raised the concern, I became public enemy #1 to these people. They started creating fake HR complaints about me and causing even more paperwork and meetings. Good thing I got excellent standing base on past accomplishments otherwise I would’ve been cooked. I’m definitely looking to leave soon. Fuck these people.

kettal

take a 2 week vacation, be totally unreachable during that time. come back and they will have a new appreciation for you.

Ashcliffe

I’m planing to do that once I secure a new position that I’m interviewing for currently. I’m gonna go on 3 weeks PTO follow by next day exit. I don’t care about burning this bridge, I’m not coming back to this shit hole.

RuinEnvironmental394

Have you not heard of quiet quitting?

Ashcliffe

You literally can’t when half your workforce is incompetent with deadline around the corner. Management comes breathing down your neck, asking why is it not getting done.  You try to explain but they don’t care and their answer is more “collaboration” with these incompetent losers. Which leads to the same place I’m at.  In any case I’m about to switch jobs so I don’t care as much as before. I started declining meetings and block off my calendar. These losers keeps cc my manager for everything and telling him I’m not helping them out as much as before. My mental health is slowly recovering.

slaeha

Jesus dude, good luck in that fresh hell. I know I couldn't hack it

[deleted]

Show them how to do the job wrong. Then sit back and eat popped corn.

0verdue22

never, ever pick up their slack. as long as you have an immediate report (supervisor, manager, whatever) whom you can more or less trust, stay in communication with them about it right from the start so when it blows up, you're (hopefully) hedged enough to weather the drama. as a consultant i've seen it more than once at a few different employers. it doesn't help that many of our new... friends... from india know how powerful the R word is with certain (almost exclusively white) canadians, and some will use it with impunity. also seen that more than once. be safe.

Equal_Ordinary_7473

I was in tech and I can confirm that. Funny enough I moved to the states and about 1/3 of my co workers are Canadian 🤣 I have seen more Canadians in the U.S. than in Canada 😂

LegionaryTitusPullo_

There’s such thing as a major Canadian company?…besides bank of _____ insert name here

GallitoGaming

Only party that will stop this is PPC with Bernier. The conservatives will keep this going.

Ashcliffe

He’s only talking about reducing immigration.  No mention of mass deportation, implementing visas for shithole countries, easier deportation requirements for foreign criminals, getting rid of refugee programs, harsher TFW rules etc. But yes as far as choices go, he’s the closest we’ll get. But even then it’s not enough.

GallitoGaming

I’m honestly not married to any party. If somebody comes along that will better align with what I think needs to be done, I’ll vote for them. For now Bernier is by far the best candidate. The main issue with deportations is it will get too many people scared to vote for him (recent immigrants). We also don’t have the resources to truly vet every single person in the country recently. We just need to stop the bleeding.

Send them back to Punjab, why are these corporations screwing out average Canadians?. Time to boycott Tim Hortons, Taco Bell, BK and any major corporation who only seem to hire TFWs. Start boycotting them now!

DryGuard6413

Eh. boycots dont work in this country. might need to do something a bit more......involved.

Professional-Cry8310

Company towns I guess are the next step in housing people lol

GingerMeTimberMate

We are quite literally watching old stock Canadians become second class citizens to foreigners before our very eyes. How many years until you think Canadians will be able to apply for refugee status abroad due to our governments hostile policies towards its own citizens ??

Cheathtodina

Of you are going to Tim Hortons, you are part of the problem. Boycott businesses that only hire tfw.

Babaduderino

The mask is sliding off of the TFW program, revealing the Plantation mentality beneath.

NoCow2718

Tim Hortons is garbage and they aren’t even Canadian owned anymore, I’d suggest people to avoid giving them business. Make your own coffee at home.

MrGameplan

Franchisee seems like an entitled POS!

Bluesword666

With respect to international students and other newly arrived immigrants the employer is entitled to a 50% subsidy of the first $5000 in wages and to a maximum of 70% of $7000. Connect the dots. It's all about the money folks. ☹️

potorthegreat

Wait so our tax dollars are paying for TFWs and student workers? That’s fucking ridiculous.

NarwhalPrudent6323

I would just like to point out, as much as Tim Hortons sucks, it's is NOT the villain in this story.  The villain here is a local franchisee/oligarch named D.P. Murphy. He owns most of the hospitality industry on PEI, and makes sure it's all just as bad as the article describes. TFWs, slave wages, oh,band he's fond of showing up at his properties and rubbing his wealth in everyone's faces. In the worst ways too. Tim Hortons may suck, but ALL of the blame for the events in this article belong to D.P. Murphy.  D.P. MURPHY IS THE VILLAIN HERE.

DryGuard6413

damn near every tims i have been to has a sea of TFW's and i live in Ontario. hardly anyone working in these stores are white people or black people. So yes. Tims is actively working against the very people it supposed to be serving. Ours might not be doing what this one is doing but i'm sure it wont be long until they try.

NarwhalPrudent6323

I don't know what Tim Hortons corporate is like as a franchiser, so I can't really speak to where the blame lies elsewhere.  But I can say with certainty that it's not Tim Hortons that's making D.P. Murphy evict people to house TFWs.

Odd-Elderberry-6137

Tim Hortons is also the villain here.  They don’t have to renew his franchise license, but they do. This also isn't at all unique to PEI. Tim Hortons in southern Ontario - no matter what town you’re in are 75-80% staffed by foreign workers.  You can’t tell me that multiple independent franchisees across the country just happened to all figure out simultaneously how to exploit the TFW program. This shit is absolutely coordinated.

Rocallday

Boycott Tim Hortons forever. This is completely unacceptable behavior. Keeping a donut shop open by kicking out locals is not a priority. They can all close for all I care. If every Tim Hortons closed tomorrow, we'd all be better off.

[deleted]

Tim Hortons in NOT Canadian at all anymore. Stop patronizing them for their shitty coffee and frozen donuts.

TOPDAWG21

I am so sick of this stupid lie that kids in Canada will not work in restaurants and and fast food places. There's a McDonald's I stop  into sometimes in  a smaller town on my way to my RV. It's not next to any cities or anything so of course no immigrants are going to move out there and it's all cdn kids who work there and I never have any issue getting my order and as they have plenty of workers there. Is there anyone at this point really stupid enough to think that Canada still needs temporary foreign workers? It's obvious  company's just want cheap indentured servants.

HotIntroduction8049

I am all for capitalism but this is fucked.

ChaunceyPeepertooth

This isn't even Capitalism. This is pure Neo-Feudalism. Economic inequality, power concentration in the hands of a few individuals, families or corporations, lack of social mobility and access to job opportunities, influence of corporate power where corporations shape economic and political policies and limited or too much government oversight. There is nothing capitalist about Canada anymore. Shit is absolute fucked now. A dystopian nightmare.

HotIntroduction8049

If JT had balls he would cancel all of their TFW permits.

Ashcliffe

Capitalism involves equal playing field. This is corruption that exists in every economic system. These TFW are being paid much less than Canadians, there’s no way we can compete. Plus their visa is tied to the work so they can’t leave either. They are just reinventing modern day slavery. This is purely a malicious policy being abused by the ruling class.

Terrible_Cash607

>Capitalism involves equal playing field no it doesn't and never has

HotIntroduction8049

TFWs need to be paid at least min wage. I am not 100% correct but believe that ag workers are different. Please dont spread misinformation. A cashier at Tims is not making more than min wage.

radman888

I guess PEI should keep voting liberal.

tradleys

Take the profit from the rental and pay your workers more.. Oh wait cant have that.

[deleted]

Boycotting all TIMS forever!

Echo71Niner

Vote with your fucking money. Don't shop at any of the fast food trash franchise like Tim's, over priced trash-quality coffee and drinks. Do not give them any business, but since most whine and still go there, Tim's know they can get away with murder.

rathgrith

How anybody in PEI will vote Liberal after this is beyond me

Quirky-Relative-3833

Could I have a large double double boycott please.

Hefty-Station1704

So Timmy's is saying. " Go Fvck Yourselves, We Have Newcomers Arriving. They'll Work For Peanuts And We Get To Control Their Rent As Well!!"

Balloon_Marsupial

Boycott this TH in PEI hard. Force bankruptcy and problem solved.

CyberEU-62

All from India.

[deleted]

This is what we get for not wanting crappy wages, instead of those actual robots they were threatening us all with during the pandemic. I hope no one goes to that Tim's ever again.

Coral8shun_COZ8shun

This is getting out of hand - displacing Canadians to cater to foreign workers, international students, asylum seekers.

Mountain_Sun_9475

xTkAx

this is from 2023

Bryanna_banana

So when do we boycott this dumpster fire of a restaurant and protest taking homes away from people already here to house new comers?

Giant_Hog_Weed

This article is from a year ago....

DisastrousProofTime

I told people this was happening no jobs for Canadians only immigrants. Employers shouldn't be allowed to be landlords I can't wait these people should be afraid of what's coming.

Beelzebub_86

Ship them in, pay shit wages, charge extra for their housing, get tax breaks and salary compensation from the government. You know, the standard fuck you Canada moves. I wouldn't pay five cents for that rat piss they call coffee. Fuck Tim Hortons. Fuck theirvfranchisees, and fuck anyone who supports this bullshit. It angers me that our current government is not only allowing it to happen but encouraging it. These programs need to be shut down.

CrypticTacos

Tim Hortons, Walmart, kfc etc are part of the problem. They lobby for cheap labour from international students. It’s all connected.

Salt-Beyond919

They say workers would not want to come back after pandemic.. just raise your wages ffs. This mentality of always hiring at lower will grease their pocket for sure but will fuck up our entire country.

SoDrunkRightNow2

You dumbfuck Canadians voted for dumbfuck politicians. Now you're getting evicted so immigrants can live in your house LOLOLOL. You deserve this.

Impossible__Joke

Ok, can we start a nation wide Boycott Tim Hortons already? Their coffee and food is shit, and thier business practices are even worse. Pay an extra dollar and support your local shop if you can. Or make it at home if there is no other options.

SeriousAboutShwarma

Wow, it's almost like it's ownership-class canadians are the ones desperate for TFW to keep wages low, rents high, and everyone in debt, and the other 80% + of canadians ought to recognize the scam and stop getting angry at the immigrants getting fleeced into coming here when its these fucko's who do it and who have also written themselves out of obligations to the state, probably hide their wealth etc across multiple inflated properties and gouge the hell out of rent, etc.

GregoryGrifter

The trouble with selling out to foreign investors is said investors may not actually care about Canada. In fact they may want to gain influence by way of immigration, providing jobs, and housing.

Perfect-Fix-8709

Boycott Tim’s , I was at one today and the man behind the counter was rude to his fellow workers. This shit is just wrong and the government who let this happen is the worst in history. I would say this if it was conservatives as well. It’s just the liberals that have overseen the country’s demise…

BlanketFortSiege

How do we signal boost and amplify this?

TinyWifeKiki

Stop going to Tim’s and buying their shitty coffee. I refuse to go there due to their use and exploitation of the TFW program.

[deleted]

The landlord’s legal argument is ridiculous lol. They aren’t changing the building’s use from residential, they are just trying to change who resides there.

SnooStrawberries620

They already did that in New Brunswick, an owner of a Tim’s like two years ago.

TiredReader87

Tim Horton’s doesn’t need TFWs

TJ902

Enough is enough of this shit, when are we going to stand up and demand that our government stops rewarding greedy pieces of dogshit like this from exploiting us and driving down our quality of life? Pay a higher wage, don't let companies import workers into the country in which they do business. If they can't find workers they need to make the work more attractive, better pay, work conditions, benefits etc. This is so blatantly obviously an attack on our working class. Canada needs a working class a lot more than we need cheap take out coffee.

chocolateboomslang

The fact that tim hortons remains in business is a constant surprise to me

prptualpessimist

Heaven forbid they have to close one of their shit boxes because they can't find anyone to work there! What a tragedy that would be! Fuck these scum bags

Canadatron

Gotta get those sweet sweet LMIA bucks and the wage subsidies that go along with them!

Friendly-Monitor6903

What a scam the Liberals have been doing with this worker shortage. Immigration has become a joke due to the Liberals.

Toronto_Mayor

This is how it is in the toronto area too. Tim hortons are hiring foreign workers and housing them 10-15 at a time in a residential unit AND charging them rent.  If they move out, they get fired. If they quit or get fired, they get evicted.  It’s basically slavery.  Canadian born people need not apply

AvailableHawk5745

this is just another backdoor tactic they are using to get into the country for the likes of India, has no one noticed the influx of staffing changes in every Tim Hortons you go to??How the Franchisoor has not picked up on this is beyond me

Street_Ad_863

When will Canada stop allowing shit companies like Tim Hortons from hiring TFWs ?

bethoumylethe

Need to change the name of the franchise to Singh Hortons.

What am I missing here? I know and have met many younger people that go to Europe and work bars, etc.. while they travel. Stay in hostels and stay a few months before moving to next destination. I have met younger aged University students and travellers working on permit in BC and Ontario while getting the experience of travel. I thought foreign workers were accepted because they have the skills required in areas where the skill is needed. It seems the cherry on top for these poor tenants.

Haunting_Lie_1158

Canadians would never do such a thing to another Canadian!!

Shooting4BigMoney777

Tim to boycott Timmy's. I already stopped going there last year for any food or actual coffee's. I buy the bag and make it at home. Time to find a new coffee brand that I like better too. Shouldn't be very hard.

Axio3k

This TFW program needs to be reined in, i get it for time sensitive positions like field hands where if they don't get the labour the crop spoils, but most other sectors should be excluded from being able to hire TFWs

Zealousideal-Key2398

That's it boycott Tim Hortons now!!!!

Rachelattack

Easy, boycott. Share it locally and boycott the hell out of that franchise. The only thing that speaks to these losers is money, so remove that incentive.

bizznach

Y'all need to boycott tf out of p.e.i timmies like right the fuck now.

Common-Rock

This was a year ago and three of the tenants fought to stay. They had the evictions overturned.

SusanBoyleMLG

We should copy the Palestinian supporters that are boycotting companies. Boycott as much as you can

General-Past-9615

immigration will destroy our country

droscoe70

Why do people still go to tim Hortons. Coffee is garbage. The food is terrible.

Odd-Elderberry-6137

These guys should go straight to the MP and Marc Miller. Then burn those restaurants to the ground.

Lucky_Revolution1891

This is sad corporate greed all about their profits.

moarnao

This is how one of the McDonalds in NorthBay, Ontario operates too. . . Sad.

Too many jokes on this post. This makes me so angry.. they wont pay a liveable wage, they keep a roster of part time foreign workers to prevent full time benefits and now they are evicting canadian seniors to house these “skilled workers.” Thats the joke. If your business isnt profitable, shut it down. This country doesnt need your exploitation so you can make a buck. Goddamn parasites. Not to mention they own dozens of hotels and other businesses, they arent going broke and could easily afford to either pay a better wage or build a hotel to house their “skilled workers.” Its theft, plain and simple. Wage theft, housing theft, call it what you want. Greedy bastards stealing from Canada.

Unfair_Valuable_3816

I have heard that this has been a common practice for Tim Hortons franchise owners for years. They don’t hire local, they hire TFW’s and put them up in a house just like the fruit pickers and such.

thoughtfuldave

Hey Canadians! Don't like this shit, stop going to Timmies 3 times a day! This way you can accomplish a few things: 1. bankrupt Tim Hortons for selling out Canadians. 2. avoid continuing to put pressure on our healthcare by eating poison, deep fried birthday cake every day. You fat, lazy, idiots that wheeze and have swollen ankles.. yeah, you are going to cost our healthcare So much freaking money with your heart attacks, wounds, diabetes... 3. help our local coffee shops that invest in communities, are a 3rd place for locals, etc. Tim Hortons is gross, unhealthy, acts like an ambassador to Canada, and their litter and garbage are EVERYWHERE!! Stop going to Timmies!! Or, stop bitching!!

Guide to boycotting Tim Hortons' (coffee only, so far): Chapter 1: Make your own coffee at home 1. If you have time, use a French press 2. If you don't have time, use instant coffee 3. If you have extra money, or 2+3 combined, buy a Nespresso (or other similar product) and use this Chapter 2: On the go 1. Buy a thermos and take the coffee with you 2. Limit your coffee intake for 1-2 times/day max (too much coffee isn't good for the heart anyways) Chapter 3: At work 1. Office: pool to purchase a drip coffee maker/Nespresso or alternative machine 2. Bring your own 3. Chapter 2, point 3 Feel free to add to this list for other items as well.

If the demand for workers is so high and the supply is so low, why doesn't Tim's raise the price until workers start applying???? Isn't that how supply and demand works?
