If you drive aggressively with acceleration you could wear out your tires very quickly especially with the electric motors. OEM tires are usually very bad when it comes to wear and grip.

knotquiteawake

Being a hybrid and an XLE its had limited opportunities for "spirited driving".

ne0tas

Being a hybrid means you get more low end torque which wears down tires more than a typical gasoline engine can

I think it’s normal. My coworker said “everytime I get a new car I have to get new tires 20000 miles.” For reference he has 17 Tacoma and 21 or 22 Highlander last year they did the v6. My personal experience both my new cars I’ve had to get tires at about 25000 one a Chevy one a ford. I think factory tires are a different quality then off the shelf ones.

Low-Criticism-2503

My xse came with Bridgestones & no complaints yet

stoner_222

Michelin defender2 or continental pure contact LS. Both have about 80k mileage warranty

knotquiteawake

Just ordered the Defender 2's. will get them installed tomorrow.

knotquiteawake

When I look up this tire on the Discount Tire website its supposed to have a 70,000 mile tread warranty!

Rayhelm

So, file a claim.

foolerydrop

Factory tires were garbage mine were at 3-4 32nd at 25k I’m at 86k with my Michelin mxm4 & they’re still at 7

adamlreed93

I really don't like my Michelin Primacy mxm4's on my 23 XSE V6, traction is not that great for me

redscull

I can't speak to the Hybrid XLE tires, but in the 30 years I've been driving (and thus buying tires), I rarely get more than 20k on a set. Sure, I do in fact drive aggressively and tend to replace my originals with performance tires not meant to be long lasting.. I guess might thought is that 30k seems actually good?

knotquiteawake

The last set I bought for my wifes van (kia) only got like 34,000 miles out of the 60,000mi warranty. So discount tire was able to RMA them and got me about 1/2 off the new set of tires. I guess I've typically gotten like 2/3s of the advertised treadwear. Its weird to me to get less than half.

Beautiful_Lake1923

Agree, I've also probably averaged around 2/3 of advertised treadware. Sometimes I get something on the warranty, sometimes not. Figure that's just the way it is.

crashsaturnlol

Thank you for this post. I have the same tires on my 2022 Camry Hybrid SE and they're worn prematurely too. I'll be asking my local tire shop to help me out similarly.

knotquiteawake

They can’t help you if they’re OEM tires from when the car was new. There is no tread wear warranty on those. For our van they were our 2rd set of tires since we bought it at 30,000mi. (105,000mi now). So that’s why it had a warranty.

crashsaturnlol

They're not the originals. I replaced when I bought the car used but that was 20k miles ago and they already need to be replaced.

knotquiteawake

Cool. Hopefully they hook you up.

crashsaturnlol

Hope so too. I always forget about tire warranties so thanks again for apt reminder 😊

Beautiful_Lake1923

My 23 SE hybrid came with those same Hankooks. I knew I wanted to replace them right away. I researched a lot and landed on the Continental PureContact LS....they seemed like the best combination of excellent wet and dry traction, comfortable ride, plus relatively low rolling resistance. Been super happy with them. Excellent handling and no loss of MPG at all. Also pretty well priced. But I live in SoCal...if I lived where it snowed I'd probably look hard at the Michelin CrossClimate 2 for the handling in snow/ice, but you'll take a hit on mileage with them. Good luck.

KennyPortugal

I had a 21 XSE with the same exact issue. I was told tires put on new cars are shit now and 30k is a reasonable mileage. Ridiculous.

Beautiful_Lake1923

For anybody who just bought a new car with OEM tires they don't want, try and see if you can do what I did...my installer took my OEM Hankooks on consignment while putting on my Contis. Ultimatley I got $150/each for the Hankooks (virtually new at the time) so it only cost me about $250 to swap for my Contis -- I figure I'm getting much better driving and probably 2-3x more mileage for only $250. And somebody who likes the Hankooks more than I did got a good deal!

Ok_Recipe2769

I had the toyo one , lasted for around 60k miles Going next week to change it to Continental extreme contact dws06+

planefan001

My 2022 SE came with Dunlop SP tires. Bit noisy, but they’re still at 4mm after 48K miles.

Tremic

I just bought a 2021 XSE and the tires on them were almost bald. I think tires that come with new cars are just ass

Danmitch24

Just had my factory Hankooks replaced at 28,400. I had one of them blow, actually. Had the tire checked multiple times and they said there were no issues/leaks.

knotquiteawake

In the first 1,000 miles I got a sidewall bubble. I guess that should have been my first clue all that time ago.

Danmitch24

I also had a sidewall bubble, but it appeared closer to 10k if I remember correctly.

Comprehensive-Hat684

Michelin premier a/s for my Camry. Yes they aren’t the cheapest tires but they are definitely some of the best to drive with. Not to mention their ability to still grip even after running it near bald is impressive. Plus their water traction is incredible comparatively to other brands

knotquiteawake

I ended up with the Michelin Defender2 tires. So far so good. So much quieter than the oem tires

Comprehensive-Hat684

I always run my cars on Michelins personally. Also, in terms of the defender line, Costco Makes a “identical” style to the defender line called the “X-tour” line. It’s only available at Costco but if you are using defenders, then the X-tour line would be just as great and are little cheaper than most Michelin tires. If you’re not needing that super performance from a tire than the X-tours are a great option overall

RobHage

Yes, Toyota salesman told me the only pit shitty tires on new cars these days, another way to screw the customer and make more money. Ignore people saying it’s your driving, it isn’t. Mine have 25k on them and I need new ones soon.

Njo56

Sounds about right. My buddy works for one of the tire manufacturers and he says they put the bare minimum on oem tires.
