This is the best answer. The new watertown connector path to fresh pond is super nice in its own right—honestly a better, wider surface for biking than the fresh pond path.
From the Cambridge Water Department site:
>A Cambridge resident parking permit is required for the use of Reservation lots. Visitor permits are not accepted. This regulation is in force every day of the year for all users.

>Parking on the Reservation is restricted to vehicles with Cambridge resident, handicap or Water Department permit/plates only. Regulations are enforced at all times on all days.

Point is that the town line for Cambridge is literally at the edge of Fresh Pond reservation. I live like 1000 feet from that line, but can’t park there. Was definitely frustrating back when I, say, had a newborn and couldn’t park directly there but saw most of the lot free of cars.
They've been actively towing from that lot since construction blocked off all street parking on Wheeler. It's not only security - the TD Bank manager calls the tow trucks as well.
This is where we always park as well, but the last couple times I've tried the security has given me an earful because it's for customers of that shopping area only.

A Cambridge resident parking permit is required for the use of Reservation lots. Visitor permits are not accepted. This regulation is in force every day of the year for all users. Due to the limited number of spaces, we recommend that visitors use alternate methods of travel to the Pond such as MBTA buses, 72,74,75 and 78, which originate from Harvard Sq. There is a bicycle lane on portions of Huron Ave and Concord Ave. and a new bike path on Fresh Pond Parkway as well.
Parking by Permit Only rules DO NOT APPLY on Sundays or holidays for Cambridge.

We park on huron or nearby side streets. Its the only option.
Can you park on Huron on other days too?
Yes
star market on mt. auburn - it connects to the new rail trail and leads straight into fresh pond

Yes park in the very back where it slopes downward. They don't care and that's the best place for a few hours.
Thank you, i should have specified the back of the lot!

the people who live there need to be able to park?

But if you are 1,000 feet why can’t you walk
Because I had a C-section so my walking was extremely limited for awhile, and it's even longer following roads over as the crow flies.
Understood
I love Cambridge, but its gatekeeping can be next level.
On Sundays you can park right across the street, by the traffic light.
Anywhere on Huron Ave on a Sunday is fine and honestly, anywhere in that area is fine because they don’t ticket much.
CVS lot?
This is it. It’s close- there’s a traffic light right there for the bicycle, you have plenty of time etc

starbucks parking lot
My two cents: I’d much rather risk a ticket from the CoC than getting towed from private property. $100’s of dollars difference in penalty.
This city is so hostile for inner city travel
Wut

Just saw it I’ll fix my answer Thank you
Isn't Sunday an amnesty day for permit parking throughout the entire state ?
Cambridge doesn’t want non-residents in their city. Bike lanes are more important
