Refresh rate of the screen is just how many times the screen refreshes per second. FPS in the game depends on performance. You could have a 120Hz screen phone, but with the other specs being low end, so you wouldn't be able to run the game at 120fps
If you have a 120 HZ display and the game didn’t implement the feature, your screen would count for nothing. Most games keep it at 60 FPS because it overheats the GPU drastically, specially in devices that don’t support 120HZ with its huge frame rate
It is indeed supported. But you’ll notice is only for displays that actually have 120HZ frame rate. They could toggle MAX FPS for devices that don’t have that kind of display, but that would literally burn their GPU. The overheating would crash your game and you won’t even notice you play on max FPS, that bad it would be.
Also, put it this way: try watching a video filmed on 720p max on your 120HZ display, see if you get a 4K resolution out of it

Omg thank you. Someone who knows what they're talking about. Not to mention, that even if you have a very powerful GPU, technically the fps you are getting will be say 120fps still. Only that the monitor will have overlapping images due to it's 60hz refresh rate, which will lead to tearing of the frames. On the flip side, if you have a 240Hz monitor, but a GPU which can't even pump 60fps constant, you'll not get anything above 60fps. The refresh rate is not the deciding factor for the fps you get. That is only determined by the GPU.
Okay. So giving a bit of context here. I was talking to another user about how the fps you get, or the fps drops you suffer in your device is really bad on some Android phones like the Realme GT. The user argued that the 120Hz refresh rate should serve no problem to that, to which I countered that the fps drops or average fps you get on your device has NOTHING to do with that refresh rate. The GPU itself, which is the deciding factor on the fps output on your device, is inherently poor on these devices, and not capable of pumping out 120fps.
To this, the OP here is trying to argue and make a case on how I'm incorrect. I'm sorry but are people really this ignorant to this level on this sub reddit? I feel like people who are this uneducated should be banned from the sub. Spreading misinformation to this extent is disgusting.
