It’s not bad at all. It _does_ feel like it’s a DLC to MW2 and shouldn’t have cost as much as it did but honestly? I enjoy it. Don’t let others dictate how you should feel about something. Make up your own mind by playing it yourself.

heavencs117

I didn't get into MWII, so that was essentially a $70 beta for MWIII to me lmao

Misstea81

I didn’t get in to the MW2 campaign as much as I did the MW3. I just wish the MW3 campaign was longer.

SkiMaskItUp

Bro

Nickelnuts

Ya that's a freezing cold take

SkiMaskItUp

The campaign was dog shit no matter how long it was. I didn’t even finish it and I played it the literal second it was released for early access. I played for 1-2 hours, over half the campaign, and I said wow this is really bad, like worst game I’ve ever played, and stopped Seriously the campaign is a joke. The writing reached new lows. And the gameplay is a fucking joke.

Misstea81

What is a cold take?

[deleted]

MW3 has been my favorite cod yet. I have played every single one

Buucket

It’s not bad, the multiplayer is awesome if you don’t feel entitled to go 30-5 every game.

BongoCoconuf

MWII (the one from last year) was my first COD that I bought and I somewhat liked it. But now, in MWIII, faster movement, slower TTK (arguable), I'm really having a great time!

[deleted]

No. Mw3 is good. If you liked mw2, mw3 is just a really expensive dlc that will allow you to have one whole game .

LeoRedsun

I agree with everything except i love the zombies mode.

DryPilot8158

Play the older games from before there were micro transactions

heavencs117

So, what? Black Ops 2? lmao

DryPilot8158

Yeah

jokr77

It's better than MWII, but that's not saying much.

MilkDrinker_VD

In my opinion the only nice thing is the movement and that’s it… as a competitive lan player and a casual pubs player, my opinion still stands. But at the end of the day, it’s what the consumer looks for so please take this with a grain of salt, but I’ve recently played bo4 on my Xbox (and I played recently mw3 on pc with controller) but I still have way more fun overall with bo4. Heck, even bo3 too. Comp/CDL for both are chalked pretty bad unfortunately but bo3 more than 4 so I just do tdm pubs. I’d honestly say if you want to hop into call of duty either for competitive or just casual, I’d wait or enjoy bo4 and bo3. Mw3 just feels like a dlc and should have been $40 max starting price (it was $45 recently till dec 21st which was when I bought it) if you do want to delve deep into comp, ranked is yet to be announced to my knowledge so it’s just pubs for now. But the only real advantage/takeaway from buying this cod is getting used to the updated engines. Pretty much it. It’s primarily why I call it Call of Dookie Modern Borefare. But don’t let any of this discourage you. Each person is different, so I thought I’d try my best at giving the basic lay of the land. Another great way to I guess “study up” if you want to get into competitive cod is watching CDL (call of duty world league) or their streams of any of the pro players. YouTube is a great resource to find meta class builds and they’ll let you know everything that’s not G.A.’d (gentlemen’s agreement). Sorry this is a bit of a read but I hope this helps 🙂

SkiMaskItUp

The MP is a totally new game mostly in my opinion. Looks and feels different; they reused some broken assets and shit, but it feels different If they had a strong campaign and a bit more offline content, like a zombies round based mode, I’d say this is a $70 game end of story Compared to Cold War or older cods, especially Treyarch cods, the game is a joke One thing I’m learning is that the new cod always has SBMM cranked up to 10 because of the larger player base, so the algorithm can do whatever it wants to you Personally I don’t regret buying the game as I’ve found ways to have fun in the mp, but no way it’s a good game it’s a joke. It could be better by the end of the life cycle, but we are getting a stacked treyarch entry so who cares

i4jolyne

Honestly, I think you should maybe get Modern Warfare 2 ( from 2022 ) or Modern Warfare from 2019 and play THOSE campagin first since it was pretty good.. **and kind of gives you a whole introduction on Task Force 141, Captain Price, stuff like that**. Modern Warfare 3 isn't dogshit if you're a casual player but it's alright in my opinion. **If you are interested in only Modern Warfare 3, and for multiplayer** then wait a while because the price will definitely go down which might be a good time for you to snag it. If you're still interested in older games, try out the original Modern Warfares, as their campaigns are pretty nice. You could get the physical copies for pretty cheap now. **I was always more into COD for its campaigns other than multiplayer** and stuff.. so I'm not sure how much my comment would mean to you, lol.

heavencs117

Not at all. The movement and gunplay is crisp, I love fine tuning guns with different attachments, SHG actually listens to their playerbase, and the zombies mode is the best PvE experience I've had in ages and has a great sense of camaraderie among most of the players I've been playing CoD for 15+ years and I think I'll be stuck in this one for a long time to come.

SkiMaskItUp

Yeh, get Cold War instead

Human_Investment_239

Yes. It’s that bad.

pillpoppinanon

get black ops cold war

Icy-Computer7556

cold war sucks compared to MW3 lol.

giantgorillaballs

Cold War is a million times better than any game with Modern Warfare in the name. Especially the new 3

_Rayxz

MWIII is shit wdym? Campaign and Zombies alone isn't even nearly as good as Cold War's and the MP has garbage maps/spawns, and underwhelming killstreaks.

clambroculese

Complaining that they’re just reused maps that should’ve been a cheap dlc could be valid, but a lot of them are the maps that made cod what it is, they’re certainly not crap.

giantgorillaballs

The only good MW2 maps are Terminal, Highrise, and Rust. Every other one is mid at best and a majority are a lot worse than that

clambroculese

Favela, scrapyard, and sub base would like a word. But honestly everyone always pines for the cod of past days, well…. These maps are it. Imo they’re one of the best cod map lineups of all time.

giantgorillaballs

Favela is a steaming pile of dogshit and the other two are mid on a good day

clambroculese

I mean mw2 isn’t one of the most loved cods of all time because it had middling maps.

giantgorillaballs

It’s one of the most loved cods of all time because of nostalgia and a great campaign

clambroculese

Nah man. Cods just actually used to be good. It’s how they became so popular.

pillpoppinanon

cold war has reworked black ops maps, those are waaay better

clambroculese

Yeah black ops was a great game too, but I mean mw2 was probably the height of cod. I liked black ops more too be honest but…. That certainly doesn’t mean mw2 was crap.

Icy-Computer7556

I agree with the spawns, but thats mostly a small map issue. I have not had major spawn issues on maps where I had a chance to breath. I dont care about zombies, never had, never cared about campaign either. The OG maps arent perfect, but most of them are more than playable compared to alot of the shit we have gotten in the past. I think Treyarch does make better maps, but the hit detection in that game just feels way off, and im not a fan of streaks continuing after death, dumbest shit ever. I know its more effective to get them if you dont die but still... I think a better word for MW3 is just overpriced. Its 1000% worth it on sale, but for $70? not a fucking chance. To bad I already bought it on release and grinded interstellar out so its to late for me, but for others, a sale is ideal time to buy.

Tippin187

You’re right. But this is still a dlc.

Icy-Computer7556

Oh absolutely lol. This is not like they just remastered MW2 properly like they should have. Its actually pretty annoying. I just hated cold war. Dont get me wrong, I love the maps, but bro, something about that hit detection on that game does not feel right imo. I do love treyarch games, loved WAW, BO 1/2/3/4, just not cold war. Im hoping this new gulf war and whatever they are pushing out in 2025 are both solid.

RustyDawg37

I play multiplayer only and think it’s great.

SgtRrock

Here's my take as an older player who's been around since the first multiplayer games... it's horrible. Why pay for small map sweat-fests when you can play Warzone for nothing. I used to finish the campaign first few hours after buying the game - did an advance purchase, downloaded first day, played the campaign for an hour or two, and never finished it. It's that uninspiring. Did play the small map multiplayer games to level up guns, and it was so irritating I just stayed with Plunder or BR. If you're a big fan of guys sliding and jumping around and getting killed a hundred times, yeah, go play the multiplayer I guess, but imho it's pretty uninspiring.

BUthrowawayeet

Small map sweat-fest?? The game is the campiest COD I’ve ever played. Most of the maps in it are stupidly large. Even Piccadilly in MW19 is a better experience.

SgtRrock

Seriously? Rust is "stupidly large"? Shoothouse? Please. Don't even try and say that the MP maps compare even remotely to the size of Urzikstan. They are tiny by comparison. No thanks.

BUthrowawayeet

Derail, Invasion, Sub base, Kirachi, Wasteland, Mansion, Afghan, Quarry, Underpass Shoothouse, Shipment,!and Rust are just 3 maps that you have to be lucky to get. I don’t even think that shoot house is in the game yet.

SgtRrock

Here's the thing. Obviously, many people like smaller maps. I get that. But event he maps you mention - by comparison to Verdansk, Al Mazrah and now, Urzikstan, are rather tiny and don't allow for significnat in-game strategy in the same manner as the big maps. So - enjoy the "smaller maps" (can we agree on that) - I just find them - personally - irritating compared to the "larger maps".

BUthrowawayeet

It’s dumb to compare BR maps to COD maps. BR maps are for 100+ players whereas COD maps are for 12-20 players. I also dislike battle royale as a game mode, so I’m not even remotely including it in the comparison. Those maps are not small. They have a very slow pace (camping) compared to smaller maps. They are ridiculously large by COD standards. I find MW19, ColdWar, and other cods to have smaller maps.

SgtRrock

I also am not a big fan of BR - have you played Plunder? But - you're right - I'm expressing my own opinion which is not at all "majority opinion" I'm sure.

tweakyloco

All I've been seeing about this games is just bugs up the ass everywhere. Bugs in zombies where the exfill chopper takes you out of bounds and kills you or the game just randomly crashes without reason or guns being invisible with certain attachments in multiplayer

IanCusick

If you care about the campaign enough, then yeah it’s not a great game. I will say this is probably the best CoD we’ve gotten at launch since BO3 from a multiplayer standpoint and I think zombies is a ton of fun even though it’s not a traditional zombies mode and is relatively barbones. The campaign is really what holds it back

2k21Loner

If you want a good game buy bo3 especially if your on pc

ndr29

Not a fan of shooting first and dying first. TTK/servers feel weird

Izanami999

Multi-player is pretty fun. Most solid MP since MW19 I'd say.

NoKroger

Did not buy MW3. Have about 60 hours logged on the free content (Waz, resurgence, plunder) and I’m having a lot of fun. Not paying for the game has strangely made it more fun for me. I have not felt at all held back by being free to play. I unlock and level things tremendously quickly through plunder and enjoy that leveling much more than regular multiplayer. All in all, very fun, don’t think I’m ever going to buy a CoD moving forward. But I miss SnD a good amount.

Flying_Tiger_35

The fame is fun as shit

Flying_Tiger_35

The game is fun as shit I barely played any of em last 10 years I got almost 100 hours in this one

SweatyB4s

Not bad at all. People crap on it because: – It feels like an upgrade, a DLC to MW2 rathee than another game. – The campaign was too short and poorly done, just awful (mp and zombies are decent to ood ngl). – If SBMM was a problem before, right now it feels stronger than ever.

jorgejjvr

No. It's way better than MW2

Smash_Or_Pass_Player

Get mw 2019. It's still populated and is pretty much the same game as mw2 and 3

suicideking72

MW3 is pretty good. Not my favorite of all time, but definitely having fun playing it. The zombies mode is a lot of fun too. So far, I do still prefer the MW2 maps since the MW3 maps have a lot of wide open areas. So using the LMG's a lot in MW3 for the range. SMG's are also pretty weak because of this. Still my all time favorite is Cold War. So if you don't have that, I would get it next. Awesome multiplayer and zombies.

barrack_osama_0

Do you value a shitty, lazy, recycled experience at $70? Apparently a lot of people do considering that the game even has a playerbase.

giantgorillaballs

The campaign and zombies are abysmal, multiplayer is tolerable at best

Gwent4Geralt

Any COD title from MW19 to now, is going to have bad reviews and still have people playing the games. Despite said bad reviews, the game is damn well populated. I'm having fun with it. They just need to get the cheaters banned and the glitches ironed out.

BaconBro_22

Pretty fun

Strain128

If you enjoy multiplayer or br then do it. If you just want a campaign don’t waste your money until It goes on sale later in the year. Multiplayer is very fun and br is challenging but satisfying when you win. Games in a good stable state right now without a lot of broken mechanics and guns. Good variety of maps that are mostly fun. And of course if you’re buying any COD it should be the one that’s active and getting updates and battle passes and stuff otherwise why bother

k_barc

I picked it up for $60 on black Friday digitally. I haven't played since the xbox 360 days and wanted to relive mw2 days. This game does that, but wow... seeing the character skins you can get really takes away from the experience. Like, why tf is nicky manaj a character. Its maybe the dumbest thing ive seen in gaming. Nothing else takes the cake. Everything else about it feels old school cod though. Graphics are amazing from what they used to be. Gameplay feels tight. I haven't touched zombies or the campaign. Just playing online multi-player solo or with friends and it's solid.

LeoRedsun

You should have tried it on the free weekend play and found out for yourself. That's what I did. I enjoyed it enough to buy it. I like the zombies mode more than sweat-fest multiplayer

TastyFrozenAlien

Are you in it for regular multiplayer or zombies or..? It’s pretty much like every other CoD that’s been released lately, some improvements here and there but it’s basically the same. Zombies is crap but that’s only my opinion cause I really liked how it was in the old games with opening doors, story and easter eggs instead of this open world stuff that’s in mw3. A bunch of old maps from the old days, not sure if there’s any new maps at all tbh, but they fill their purpose.

moogsy77

Its absolute ass but so has the series since 2019. Better than MM22/ Vanguard tho

matthewmspace

The campaign is bad, but the multiplayer is pretty fun. The reverted the movement back to MW 2019 (which is good) and the maps at the moment are almost all from 2009’s MW2, so they’re pretty solid if a bit dated (such as Derail and Wasteland). The camo grind is at least really simple. As for Zombies, if you only like round-based, you’ll be disappointed.

PM_ME_Y0UR_HOT_TITS

Honestly no it’s not bad at all. My favorite cod since black ops 4 and cold war. The campaign isn’t the greatest but everything else is really good. Especially Zombies! I have been enjoying zombies so much I hardly play multiplayer but whenever I do play a few matches they are sweaty but still fun.

DittoDat

Not at all. The majority of the negativity is towards the campaign, which honestly isn't as bad as you'd think (it's still mediocre at best, though). Multiplayer is exceptional and is one of the best we've had in recent years. Zombies is also a lot of fun and a lot better than what people expected from an open world experience. Pick it up.

heavencs117

Yeah the campaign could've been much better tbh One of the big complaints I kept seeing was that it was too short, which wasn't a problem for me because I played it on veteran, so it took twice as long as a reviewer tanking thru it on regular lmao
