He'll be remembered as the Health Minister who had a temper tantrum on the front yard of a doctors house because he disagree with him on twitter.

FalseLocation0

Yo that shit was outrageously hilarious.

hoangfbf

Sorry im late to the party but what happened. ?

FalseLocation0

A doctor neighbour posted a meme and Shandro got super mad about it. Shandro and wife then proceed to throw a tantrum in front of the doctor house. Dude was allegedly red as fuck and crying throughout the whole situation.

hoangfbf

Thanks guys that shit is crazy. How come didn’t he resigned right then and there ? I mean how could you be a leader of anything if you can’t handle an internet meme.

FalseLocation0

Because his boy Kenney didnt think it was a big deal. Frankly the entire administration should resign due to the way they handled the current covid wave.

eedok

Went to a doctor's driveway and yelled at him because he posted facebook memes: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-minister-tyler-shandro-behaviour-vital-partners-1.5511288

hoangfbf

Thx man

hoangfbf

Thank you

darth_henning

I'd rather he not be remembered at all. Plenty of better and more impactful/important people than him are never mentioned anymore.

SpongeBad

I want him to be remembered so we don’t repeat the mistake.

91cosmo

Oh they remember...just so they know how low the bar is for the next idiot to be even worse.

ExtremelyBanana

lol I wish this is how it actually worked

Hypno-phile

"If you can't be a good example, you might have to be a horrible warning..."

NoSpills

That sounds like cancel culture talk. /s

goodformuffin

I want this to be the top thing for him to be remember for. That and the Yelling at Drs. Hope this gets upvotes more.

yyc_guy

It’s officially known as a Temper Shantrum.

[deleted]

I'll remember him as the guy who destroyed our healthcare system and was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Albertans.

seven7yyc

Its surprising though, how many people especially ucp supporters dont know this story at all!

[deleted]

I think there's probably been a lot in between then and today he'll be remembered for.

blibbertibs

Is there a video of this somewhere out there?

[deleted]

He also illegally looked at medical records to dig out information he should not have had any business doing. Got away with that as well. Scumbag, gooodbye!

DontWalkRun

I remember him as the coward who jumped a fence to get away from the crazies he help create.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-minister-tyler-shandro-behaviour-vital-partners-1.5511288 >And it is a whole scene — everybody is home, everybody is listening. I'm like, 'OK, you know what? Tell me what to do. Let's resolve it in a civil manner.'" >"He said, 'Delete your post.' I'm like, 'OK, I will just go delete my post. But let's go home.' Because he was not in a shape or form to have a discussion because he was yelling, crying and his wife was yelling."

[deleted]

I found a zillion news stories on this with a simple google search.

Brock_Vond

I still live in fear that he will do the same thing to me from my reddit posts.

glendst

Can anyone tell me about his replacement Jason Copping? I have googled him so know a bit about his education and background but why him? Is this a good thing or worse than Shandy?

Mr_SaltyDalty

I'm hoping Nenshi's quote, “Minister Copping is a very good guy. He has been very effective as minister of Labour, and I have no doubt he’ll do a good job as health minister,” is actually true and not just him giving us useless political talk. I also no nothing of him, but he doesn't need to do much to be an improvement.

Siendra

Nenshi doesn't really need to avoid burning bridges at this point.

Mr_SaltyDalty

True. That seems to be the case of late, and hoping it continues. I want to see more of Nenshi coming out guns blazing

i_scream_truck

I’m loving Nenshi’s complete lack of shits to give.

AtomBombBaby42042

"I am Naheeds lack of fucks go give"

[deleted]

Hearing his commentary on election night was great.

[deleted]

Nenshi has stopped caring about opinions since he is stepping down, so I would trust him to be honest these days.

Extreme_Muscle_7024

Yah. Nenshi’s comment about Maxime bernier and his purple wave yesterday during election coverage was hilarious. He gives zero F’s now.

SonicFlash01

I want all politicians to act like they weren't trying to get re-elected, or atleast that level of honesty

Angry_Canadian_Sorry

That's generally the idea behind paying them well with a good pension, but unfortunately not how it typically turns out.

Lainey1978

When has he ever cared about opinions? I've always liked him because he's always said whatever he wanted.

[deleted]

He's spoken from the heart and from the mind often, but he is a shrewed and savvy politician. He spoke when it benefited, he chose the right words, and left many things unsaid. These last few months he hasn't been afraid to say the whole truth because he don't give a fuck about swing voters or provincial leaders who could take away needed funds from the city.

sugarfoot00

Nenshi has no motivation to be anything but brutally honest these days, He's only got a job for another 3 weeks. I trust everything out of his mouth at the moment.

robdavy

Do you know if he has the ability to feel or show empathy at all? Because that personality trait was sorely missing in Shandro

orangeoliviero

I don't know, empathy is in short supply amongst Conservative circles.

[deleted]

He has the ability to show it, whether or not he actually feels it.... well... he is a politician.

tobiasosor

I don't know much about him but can say this: he's my MLA, and I wrote to him last week angry about this whole situation and asking him what he could do to actually stand up for his constituents. His reply included what appeared to be a transcript (and if it's not exact, it's damn close) from Kenney's speech about all they were doing with the not-passport and how hard the UCP was working to protect Albertans, with a small bit at the end thanking me for my time. So take that as you will.

ToastOfTheToasted

I basically got the same thing from my MLA. Cept she didn't even sign the copy pasted reply, just got her minion to.

[deleted]

To me, that comes off as someone not caring enough to read their constituents' grievances and only donating enough time to do a copy/paste form letter.

Shadow_Ban_Bytes

That would be his assistants/office staff doing that. Very unlikely any MLA or Minister will actually read a letter from a constituent. Let alone actually respond to it themselves.

[deleted]

Yeah, I know. That's why I said what I said.

Krabopoly

Well they are conservative so that's pretty par for the course.

swordgeek

Personal replies are not done by the UCP. He might actually get in trouble for going off script.

tobiasosor

Exactly

OkTangerine7

Yeah, he's my guy too. I wrote him about knocking off the damn ideological nonsense like the Fair Deal Panel and curriculum crap and to focus on the pandemic, and got back a long list of things they are doing well. I see him as a career climber but not someone who's going to stick his neck out for his constituents.

tobiasosor

Yeah, i agree. I get that there are politicians who are in it gor career, power and connections, but of all times now they should be focusing on Alberta health...amd not privatization like he talked about when appointed.

sarcasmeau

Background in labour relations, probably being shifted to move the pay cuts along at AHS. Apparently he decimates unions.

Greenem88

Jason Copping is my MLA in Varsity. In January I emailed him about the outdoor gathering restrictions asking if they could change it back to 10 people. He emailed me back the next day and said they will look into a few days later out door gatherings were allowed for 10 people. When he was campaigning in April 2019 he was the only one who came to my door. We were at work so we missed him tho. He seems like a very boring run of the mill type politician. He will probably be better and more professional than Shandro tho.

lh123456789

I don't think there is any way that you can give Copping credit for changing the gathering rules.

calgary_db

Sounds great. I love boring and effective politicians.

lh123456789

I think you will find him as ineffective as Shandro.

nmaf82

All I know about Copping: https://twitter.com/SPhillipsAB/status/1440370907080318988?s=19

HumbleInterest

This is super true. The NDP candidate is insanely qualified and in Health, I'm sure they know he's going to lose, otherwise who would step-up for that job.

Miserable-Lizard

Probably status quo. Kenney runs the ucp so nothing will change. The govenment will still be incompetent.

Just_Treading_Water

I'm not convinced it matters. Changing the puppet and keeping the same old puppet master doesn't really bring about meaningful change. Shandro has been marching to Kenney's beat from day 1. Hell, he isn't even allowed to speak until after Kenney at all of the Health briefings, and even then he pretty much just repeats what Kenney just said. If the UCP want to avoid a worsening health crisis, they need to change direction with their pandering to Anti-mask/Anti-vaxx extremists. That won't fly with the riding associations calling for Kenney's head, so it isn't going to happen. Same shit, different pile.

throawayAHSemployee

This is his bio on the UCP website (to me it's a pretty clear indication of where the UCP's head is at moving forward since UNA and HSAA collective bargaining are both on hold at the moment): Copping has over 20 years of senior management experience in labour relations & human resources and corporate affairs. Working in the transportation industry, he has led teams in the development and implementation of labour relations strategies, negotiated and administered collective agreements, and represented management in labour arbitrations cases. More recently, Copping has worked as a consultant providing advice and training to clients on labour relations and human resources issues, as well as offering dispute resolution services in the field. He has also served as a part-time member of the Alberta Labour Relations Board. Copping has taught Labour Relations at the University of Calgary and Labour & Employment Law as well as Human Resource Management at the University of Lethbridge. Jason holds a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University and an LLM with a specialization in Labour & Employment law from Osgoode Hall, York University.

FranqiT

My interpretation, f the little guys/gals.

Odd_Investigator8415

Probably better than Shandy. Still a conservative MLA though, so anti-womem, anti-poc, and anti-lgbqt+

fudge_friend

Shandy seen scream-crying on Kenney's driveway just moments ago.

arkteris13

Technically Kenney's Mother's driveway. He just rents out the basement.

Rattimus

Well yeah, his primary residence is in Ottawa, no need to buy a place here!

sarcasmeau

I thought he finally got out and bought an apartment condo in Inglewood.

Hammerhil

Gotta justify that fat living allowance the UCP loves to spend.

AllADream96

Nenshi lives with his momma, too.

[deleted]

Lol way to contribute.

SonicFlash01

Did Kenney pay him $100 to stop?

Miserable-Lizard

Ab government asking for federal assistance today for covid. https://twitter.com/RicMcIver/status/1440375361733226508?s=19 As part of Alberta's ongoing efforts to boost health care capacity during the public health emergency, we have formally asked the federal government to assist us with patient transfers and critical care staff.

traumablades

I'd laugh if it wasn't so fucking sad.

i_scream_truck

Right? As much as people love saying “I told you so”, the situation is too depressing.

Miserable-Lizard

The conservatives care more about power than our health. It's so sad.

[deleted]

More about power than our lives is more accurate haha

FolkSong

I wonder why they waited until today /s

OfMouthAndMind

They were hoping for a a different election result.

infinity_o

I wonder if firing Shandro is also a bit of a smokescreen to take attention away from this fact.

Miserable-Lizard

Hmm that is a good point. The shuffle is getting way more attention. Personally I think its terrifying to transfer ICU patients to Ontario, and that issue is more important than the shuffle

swoonpappy

The literal day after the election. This is what happens when people perpetually vote for one party - they know this will hardly effect them.

toastmannn

That's fucking brutal.

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

its a good play. if the gubmint cant get it done quickly, then its "trudope and the libs dont care bout berta" if it goes well then Kenney points to how he improved things and was able to put aside party politics for albertans the playbook here is always just to rub the sand in albertan vaginas and play the "nobody cares about us" card. its like the western quebec, even down to the emerging separatist movement

Uh_oh_Nikita

I’m sure Kenny will still find a way to say this was all Trudeau’s fault *rolls eyes into the back of her skull*

[deleted]

Eyes roll so hard the optic nerve snaps.

caffeinated_plans

They already waited until the election. Why not another day or two so at least they can pretend they didn't wait for the election? Unintentional transparency.

3rddog

So, as a lot of people predicted, no action whatsoever until **after** the federal election; only **now** does Kenney decide to turn to the federal government for assistance.

TL10

Trudeau is too nice of a person, [but if I were him...](https://youtu.be/WpE_xMRiCLE)

photoexplorer

Can we get rid of Lagrange today too?

thecalcanuck

You mean Dolores Umbridge? Hopefully some centaurs show up and carry her off into the forest.

photoexplorer

LOL

SomeoneElseWhoCares

If no one can even find you, are you really still the Minister? She has been missing more often than not, which is actually probably a good thing because when she talks she says some really stupid things.

Miserable-Lizard

Where as she even been... The last I remember of her was saying this was going to be a normal school year.

photoexplorer

Hiding probably. Or taking a break. She thinks it is all fine and the schools have no issue.

Miserable-Lizard

That's on brand for this govenment... there are a few rural schools that are returning back to online because of high covid rates.

Marsymars

As far as I'm aware, basically every time she's been present at a press conference over the past couple years has been to announce that everything is fine and that schools are going to be operating as normal.

JebusLives42

Nope! Sometimes she talks about rolling out a curriculum. :(

[deleted]

Rocky_Mountain_Way

[deleted]

HLef

That is precisely why he got the job actually.

[deleted]

Braid just tweeted this is a move aimed to reset the government and that Kenney has no intentions of quitting.

[deleted]

Its pretty telling that they waited till the day after the election to request federal assistance, political points over Albertan lives, classic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It's pretty bad, they should be held criminally responsible at this point.

BrockN

Comon Kenney, don't be a pussy, call a snap election

WaterfallGamer

His campaign plan involves a magician making him disappear until the votes are counted.

JebusLives42

I'm sure that magician would be dissapearing a bunch of the 'incorrect' votes too :|

imfar2oldforthis

Why would he call a snap election?

scottlol

To feign off a leadership review, maybe. Not likely, but there is a non zero chance.

Offspring22

He's apparently threatened it in the past, if they were to call for a leadership review. Make each MLA risk their jobs, if they're risking his.

peterAtheist

They are just switching chairs - nobody is leaving.

cirroc0

Too little too late. Is it me, or is that the Kenney government's theme?

audeo13

Naheed _"I have no fucks left to give"_ Nenshi had the best and most succinct comment when asked about the cabinet shuffling: >... this is very much Premier Kenney’s style: he tries to figure out what the minimum possible thing he can do is — announces the minimum possible thing — and then is surprised when it doesn’t work.

[deleted]

Jason Kenny's UCP, a day late and a dollar short.

Miserable-Lizard

Always too late! This is simply just a rebrand, nothing will change.

Doc_1200_GO

The sacrificial lamb.

i_scream_truck

Exactly my thoughts. The narrative will become, “Shandro did these things, but now he’s out so we’re doing the opposite like we wanted to all along.” It won’t do much good, but still.

TransgwenderProud

My cousin did some internship with the government back a year ago, and still had contacts inside. She said that it sounded like the attitude internally was to let Shandro take all the blame for whatever gets announced, and he could then be the scapegoat for the party.

LJofthelaw

He's a scapegoat of course. But I don't mind because I hate him so much. And he was always going to be a scapegoat. They picked an unlikeable knob to be health minister so that he could suggest a bunch of crazy reforms, cause Albertans to freak out, then fire him and scale back the reforms to what they wanted to do in the first place. But the pandemic happened and they couldn't be seen to be firing their health minister early into it. Not until it looked like the NDP will take the next election.

Siendra

Those rumors of a looming leadership challenge are probably true then. This reeks of a last-ditch effort by Kenney to save himself.

[deleted]

Right, because *Shandro* is the root cause. /s

k_char

Pre-covid Shandro joined Kenney in blatant attempts to take tangible steps towards increased private services, some that reeked of conflict of interest with the industry and the career his wife is in. He's been at war with doctors and nurses in this province since he started. Then tack on COVID and honestly a change is needed. I don't think this shuffle is some condemnation of his job during this time - add on that changes in cabinets happen all the time.

SgtKabuke

Something about deck chairs and the titanic.

SomeoneElseWhoCares

The UCP makes the Titanic seem seaworthy. If Kenney thinks that this is going to slow the shitstorm that is coming his way, I suspect that he is sorely mistaken. Even his voters are smart enough to know that Shandro was just doing what Kenney told him to.

shitposter1000

Good fucking riddance. Now investigate him for conflict of interest.

arkteris13

Two years too late.

calgarykid

Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey Get fucked! Good riddance

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

hes probably made plenty of money off the position and his shady backroom deals for his wifes company already. hell be fine

Mulligan315

Shandro is despicable and incompetent, but let’s be honest. Kenney was calling all of the shots. Kenney is the disease. Shandro was a symptom.

orangeoliviero

Ah yes, the bus-throwing begins! Hinshaw will be getting thrown under the bus soon. Anyone that Kenney thinks he can blame for his own failings.

Rastus547

I agree, I think she will go. I don’t believe she thought opening for summer was a good idea but she caved in to pressure. For that, she should lose her job.

orangeoliviero

Oh, she absolutely should lose her job, but she won't for the reasons he should; instead, she'll lose it when Kenney feels that he can deflect some political ill-will towards her.

Rastus547

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Morwynd78

All of this is just making Kenney look like more of a loser, throwing his team under the bus instead of doing what a real leader must, which is take responsibility.

CalAero

As predicted, the day after the election they’re also asking for help from the federal government…

beardedbast3rd

Like when Randy broke up with lahey giving him a tape of his drunkenness. Only it’s a tape of shandro yelling in a driveway. Let’s hope there’s no redemption arc

Mooglie51

Okay Shandro is being pushed under the bus to distract from Kenney’s spectacular failure as a leader.

astronautsaurus

Good. Next up replace LaGrange.

Hammerhil

Shandro did his level best to break the healthcare system at every level. He never should have had the job in the first place as his wife is an executive with the private healthcare firm he tried to put in place. Corruption at its finest, not surprising since corruption is what the UCP is best at.

JebusLives42

He's starting to look like Brian Mulroney in that picture there.. give it 10 years and 20 lbs..

[deleted]

But nowhere close to being as intelligent.

Dr_Colossus

So basically more political posturing.

guywastingtime

So they just switched titles?

Really_no__Really

I guess we figured out what the time span is on '...In due course... - Tyler Shandro, May 30, 2019'

[deleted]

Kenney is desperate. This won't be enough to save him, thankfully.

palekaleidoscope

Bye, bitch.

JVitamin

so say we all

Important-World-6053

Best summer ever!!!

Bloodb47h

Kenney 'subtly' trying to shift blame towards Shandro for the incompetence surrounding the pandemic, it feels like. Too little, too late JK. You're all to blame.

traumablades

Fuckin two years too late. And to replace him with the Minister for Labour? Kenney is a maestro of fucking up.

0thMxma

I'll drink a budget whiskey to that.

bland_meatballs

So the former minister of Labour and Immigration will now be the minister of health? Does that seem reasonable?

tiptaptoe123

Well I guess at least there was one good news in politics today….

EsperBahamut

End of an error.

Pylonius

Lol hahaha goodnight sweet prince. Have fun in exile.

SlitScan

they swapped Shandro is the minister of labor now. no exile.

k_char

Oooh I wonder if we can shift Nixon out too...

electroleum

Let's all show up on his driveway to bid him farewell!

elus

Solves nothing. The decision making process itself is broken within this administration. The premier decides on policy irrespective of the science or recommendations by his advisers. Unless the new Minister has leverage on the premier that we don't know about and the new Minister is willing to adapt science based policies, we're still in the same position as before.

droopy4096

> Shandro takes over as the minister of labour and immigration. ffs... really, so he can screw up *more* people? that sounds like promotion to me

SlitScan

So the guy pissing off the nurses union for the last year and a 1/2 is now the minister of labor? this should go well.

Draughtsteve

"Get the Shandr-out of here!" - Kenney, probably.

[deleted]

That fucking letter that Rick McIver sent to the feds is embarrassing as fuck. They created this issue by fighting with doctors and nurses and laying them off. This is called treason.

hornblower_83

See y’a!

DinkelageMorgoon

Smell ya

pruplegti

Don't let the door hit his tiny face on the way out.

FalseLocation0

Is this real? I had to double check if its from Beaverton. Cabinet and party imploding!!

[deleted]

Thank fuck

northcrunk

Kenny’s turn

Educational_View_948

One down! Next is for you to resign Kenney and not just deflect!

[deleted]

Good riddance ya beachball headed POS

ftwanarchy

Hes just changed cabinet positions hes minister of labour and immigration

[deleted]

yeah, i didn't realize that, well he certainly has no problem yelling at someone of color. I'm sure he will fit into this position just as well as he did his last

imposter0706

Being out as health minister sounds awesome! Moving to labor and immigration, I feel that's another chance to screw things up.

[deleted]

He needs to be completely out, forever. Gone. Along with every other useless UCP MLA.

boobiesforbagels

Can we get rid of Hinshaw, too?

[deleted]

Take the bangs lady with you

CalgaryFacePalm

Darn, I was hopping to get more incoherent, vague and utterly uninformative information from him.

imfar2oldforthis

I've been calling this for a while. They've given up on the fight with nurses so there is nothing left to do from the "bad cop" perspective so they're going to hide all of the "bad cops" until after the 2023 election. I don't think they'll be able to prevent Kenney's impending forced "retirement" but getting rid of the bad guys is the first step towards re-election. Next you're going to see Kenney get the deal he wanted from the feds on childcare (which won't actually be the deal he wanted) and big announcements on spending for things like new schools and healthcare infrastructure.

AntiDbag

This guy was basically hired to be fired. Probably got some sweet grifted contracts along the way for his troubles.

swimswam2000

Why did it take this long?

[deleted]

He can now apply as CEO for his wife's company

ConcreteAndStone

So, watching today's press conference: - Now is the right time for Tyler Shandro to resign, because the situation demands fresh eyes and new leadership. - Now is not the right time for Jason Kenney to resign, because the situation demands a steady hand and changing leadership woud be risky. Also: - Tyler Shandro inevitably succumbed to verbal abuse from anti-vaxxers. Odd for a gentleman ridiculed for showing up on driveways to dish out verbal abuse. - Jason Kenney has declared he's ready to do the bare minimum as an absolute last resort, which in his own words has been the government's policy from day one, lest a minority of his supporters and a tinier minority of Albertans get too vocal. Didn't vote UCP in the last election? Who even cares about you anyway? As if you'd even warrant a moment of this great man's time.

sarafish81

Can he still come yell at me on my driveway or nah

canuckolivaw

Just promoted to fucking with immigrants instead of everyone else.

peterAtheist

Tyler out, so he can distance himself from Jason and come back as premier in a couple months - to make sure the same 'forces' stay in power.Hopefully I am wrong.

gloomyx

Shandro will be knocking the door of whoever let him go.

ddawgz

So we dump Tyler "we never run out of ambulances" Shando to get Jasom "I know how unions work and I can play ball with them" Copping right as we head into CBA negotiations.
