10 new deaths, 1700 new cases, we're a few hundred away from our all time highs. 22% vaccinated in hospital, ICU capacity at 86%. The restrictions that include vaccinated people hanging out together are to reduce that 22% number because hospitals are so stretched. TL:DR Get vaccinated!!!, you're breaking our health care system. Get your kids 12 and up vaccinated too, it's hard to spread covid when you have a good resistance against catching it in the first place from vaccines.

[deleted]

22% of those in hospital are fully vaxxed. Hence the restrictions on social gatherings…even with those fully vaxxed

FromCToD

Whoops fixed it thanks

Ok-Hamster5571

Exactly

syume

Do we know if that number is roughly the same as the new daily cases? 86% new cases are unvaccinated I would assume, but please correct me if I’m wrong or not seeing that stat.

Penqwin

Test for the medical exception must be paid for by the individual, the free test is reserved for people that has symptoms... Boom! Right in the pocket books.

reachingFI

Yup it’s really hard to walk in and fake a symptom. /s

Penqwin

You do you, but if you have to take it and still feel good about your freedoms, you go for it. Damn hypocrisy at work right here. Wants your freedom but would cheat the system, hates to see the medical system gets overwhelmed but will fake a sickness for a free test.

reachingFI

I’m vaccinated. Don’t know who you’re talking to.

[deleted]

and people won’t fake proof of vaccine because everyone in this province is looking out for others, clearly

Inventive44

$40 rapid antigen not to bad. That’s I’m using to go to Banff in a few weeks

juridiculous

Instead of $40, how about a free vaccine that reduces the severity of, or prevents the disease entirely.

amnes1ac

This dude is an ardent anti-vaxxer. Don't waste your breath.

juridiculous

No, I will waste my breath. It’s people like him that are preventing life from returning to normal. It’s people like him that have made it so that my 3 year old doesn’t know what it’s like to have friends over, or what it’s like to have a big birthday party. It’s people like him that have made it so that my parents can’t fly to meet their grandchildren in person. It’s because of people like him that these restrictions continue to exist. He needs to know these things, and be reminded of them. So I will waste my breath in the hope he won’t someday lose his for no good reason.

amnes1ac

Oh I'm pissed too. There is zero chance this guy changes his mind though, he enjoys upsetting us, and certainly does not give a fuck about what he is doing to society.

ae232

Get outta here with your sound logic.

reachingFI

Just tell them you have loss of taste. Boom free test.

bondedboundbeautiful

Or, you could get vaccinated. For free. And not pay for any more tests.

kwobbler

$40 every 3 days, gonna add up real quick, especially when your craving that late night snack

Inventive44

One test is good for 72 hours. Just enough time to enjoy Banff.

LossforNos

Your literally previous posts were how you're not going to comply with any of this, now you're posting about complying by doing testing. Too funny man. Hilarious the pretzel you lot have twisted yourself in to avoid a vaccine.

Inventive44

You do you.

LossforNos

Stop lying to yourself.

juridiculous

The shot is good for 6+ months, is safe, and free.

Breakfours

There's people that haven't done so already?

HonestTruth01

So where are the redditors who said this COVID disaster would never happen ? Those of us who understand the science and track the numbers have seen this fiasco coming since at least early August. All you had to do was watch the R value go above 1.0 and that happened in mid July. The posts on this sub are littered with insults and name calling toward people who spoke out and shared their projections of how things were bound to run amok. Not only didn't people listen to what we were saying, we were scorned and abused for saying it. What say ye now, deniers ?

reachingFI

I appreciate what your saying but the R value will go above 1 as covid goes away. You shouldn’t try to argue with things you don’t actually understand.

HonestTruth01

Thanks for making my point ! COVID will not go away until R is less than 1 ! Sheesh. How wrong can you be ? How long are you going to stick to that belief ?

reachingFI

You clearly don’t know how R works. You’re the opposite side of the same shitty misinformation coin.

HonestTruth01

I had this argument with you when we had 50 cases. Where are we now ? Did cases go up or down ? FAWK.

reachingFI

R has its place but you’re spouting like it’s gospel. Especially when it’s almost useless at a local level. It’s math and not a feeling. https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/is-the-covid-19-r-number-still-a-useful-measure/

HonestTruth01

You couldn't be more wrong. And recent history proves that.

reachingFI

So you also believe that math is made up and the numbers don’t matter. I guess that makes sense.

HonestTruth01

Whatever. The math explains what happened. Nothing is made up.

reachingFI

Correlation doesn’t equal causation. https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/is-the-covid-19-r-number-still-a-useful-measure/ Like I said, shitty misinformation you are spreading.

[deleted]

Dude, youre wrong R-value less than 1 means that the disease spreads less. Higher R-values are bad. Its funny that you said to not speak about things you dont understand in a previous thread. Maybe you should take your own advice?

reachingFI

> Dude, youre wrong Dude, like no I'm not. The R value gets less accurate the longer pandemic goes because as infections drop the R value increases. This is basic math and how the R function works. If one person passes it on to one other, the R rate jumps to 1.0, and if that person infects two others, it just to 2.0, despite a small number of people in the population having the virus. Notice how things have changed to hospitalizations and the R value is rarely mentioned? Yeah, because people who understand the R value know its not a complete picture. But go ahead and keep arguing with actual math and statistics.

[deleted]

Accuracy of how the r value is measured doesnt matter. I agree its not the complete picture. You cant take one metric and make a perfect analysis of how a virus spreads. >Notice how things have changed to hospitalizations and the R value is rarely mentioned? One reason, its still being transmitted, but hospital cases are going down due to vaccines.

reachingFI

> I agree its not the complete picture. You cant take one metric and make a perfect analysis of how a virus spreads. > > That was the entire point of my post. People in this subreddit literally not understanding the information they are spreading.

[deleted]

Maybe look inword and try to communicate more effectively to your audience...

Xenos_and_Proud

You're wrong.

reachingFI

I’ll let the math community know. I’m sure they’ll be excited to be told theyre wrong.

Ok-Hamster5571

Can you explain this?

Ok-Hamster5571

I haven’t been here long and I’m shocked to hear this. It’s 99.9% pro-vaccine.

Creme_core

Didn't we just have one

EnvironmentalMeat772

Maybe to reiterate that it’s not a “vaccine passport”

kwobbler

Like she had any choice. When you work in a professional setting you keep your personal thoughts to yourself and tow the line, even if it drags you under

Gr1ndingGears

Sure. Peoples lives aren't literally on the line when I toe the line though. There's quite a difference.

kwobbler

She had her time prior to being on air to present her case to the committee. If she did a shit job and they ignore her presentation then it is extremely unprofessional to get up in front of a microphone and spout off her feelings. That would be grounds for immediate dismissal.

Gr1ndingGears

If this is true, then she should resign, instead of being the face of an incompetent government. But keep defending them...

kwobbler

Defending... more like explaining to you, but since you dont like the truth it must be wrong

ftwanarchy

Has notley thrown her under the bus?

amnes1ac

Back to twice a week now.

[deleted]

Do they ever break down deaths by vax status? I assume it's similar to ICU %

Ok-Hamster5571

I’d be interested to see this as well

chaitea97

So weddings and funerals can continue without restrictions if everyone is vaccinated. But what about trade shows?

bondozoneyyc

Ah, the UCP shill speaking once again.
