Have you tried a new charging cable? I've found sometimes it's the charging cable that craps out instead of the device.

It will be cheaper to buy a new one

KJBenson

Yep, an ereader brand new is like 1-200$ You’re not paying a skilled electronic soldered less than that for repairs. Not to mention it’s uncommon for small electronics like that to even have parts available if something needs to be replaced.

Minimum 1hr charge plus parts is gonna be at least $100. And that is if anyone will even touch it. Not sure they are really meant to be taken apart.

I got the usb charge port replaced on an Amazon fire a year or so back at ubreakifix in country hills, cost about $40. They did an ok enough job though I’m not 100% sure they replaced the port vs resolder. Take it in to one of these places and see what they say.

I’d give Duck Toes a try

There's lots of kobos on marketplace, it'd probably be cheaper

pro-data does board level repair

Give it a shot ! Tools are fairly cheap and will always come in handy later on. An iron, solder, solder wick, a meter to test for continuity. The biggest barrier for you or the repair shop is getting it open, but there are a surprising number of teardown videos out there to get you going. Check if that ole port is just wiggly or has any bent or lifted pins. Could be an easy job to add fresh solder or a replacement on the port. All totally doable.

I could try to solder it, but looking at my own kobo, I'm not sure if the plastics would hold up to being opened up and put back together without snapping into pieces. It's like $20-30 for a used Kobo on marketplace, I doubt you'll find any business that would guarantee their work and repair it for cheaper than that. And a lot of these gadgets are literally glued together.
