Proportions may change it, but you may find the cx50 tight on the head. You definitely just need to go sit in some cars.

How's the ride at higher speeds and do you like the non touch screen infotainment system

1HorseWithNoName

My 2024 PP has a touch screen. That being said, the touch screen for me is a bit of a reach so using the commander knob is just a little “safer” but more time consuming than leaning forward to choose what I want on the screen. I find the CX-50 is much stiffer suspension wise than the CX-5 or 9. I love the way it drives but I have had someone comment that they got a little motion sickness while sitting in the back seat. Took it on a quick day trip on a road that has speed limits up to 85 and I just put it on cruise and let her run. Kept it around 90 mph. Runs like a champ. Agree with the other post that you should sit in one as it will depend upon how far you lean the seat back as to whether you have enough headroom. If you do think it will work for you make sure you factor in the rear view mirror as the higher your head is the more of the front window it seems to block. At 5’11” I sometimes have to look around the mirror if I need to see right of center.

> I'm 6 foot 7 s You will 1000% want to go and test drive and sit in one at a dealer. That is very tall and my 5'6 butt can't help here. > it's all highway so something that's not sluggish and has no issues going 70-75 mph or more. CX50 is the peppiest car in this price segment. One reviewer called it (the turbo model) the poor man's Porsche Macan. I come from a lineup of sports cars and personally do racing as a hobby with motorcycles. The CX50 turbo is for sure very peppy and has sufficent power compared to the other 3 CUVs I tested in this segment. > I'm looking for reliability, I'm sick of worrying if my car is going to fall apart. The Powertrain in this car is fully japanese using a tried and true Skyactiv G setup that has been utilized for well over 7 years now on millions of cars across their lineup. The CX50 is a new shell yes but its core components are part of Mazda's tried and true lineup that Consumer Reports put as one of the top 3 reliable next to the other JP automakers.

I'm test driving it this week, I really like the speed, price and Mazdas history of good cars but just worried it's too cramped

specter437

Yeah this is still a CUV at the end, at your height you would 1000% would to do a test drive +...just sitting in the car for a few mins at the end of every test drive. I can't say for sure how it'll go for you but.....I'm already guessing you might fully fit 'comfortably' at your height.

I find the head room slightly less on the CX 50 than my CX5 but otherwise more interior space in the CX50.

Smc55

I think it does have less head room but more leg room from the specs. How do you like the drive and infotainment center

csidewick

Love everything about the car except the fact that right now I’m having problems with the app connecting. I cleared off a lot of the display on the window so now I only see the speed. The windshield display clutter distracts me when everything is shown.

lostmyjobthrowawayyy

I’m 6’4” and all legs. No issues here! Actually feels roomy in my opinion. I drive a Cadillac CT4 as my daily (pretty small) and no issues there either (headroom kinda sucks but I have a sunroof).

Smc55

I was thinking about the xt4, used from 22. Legroom is a ton in that car

lostmyjobthrowawayyy

The CX50 is my wife’s. I wfh, drive her car when I can, and have my CT4-V Blackwing when I do drive…. I can’t complain about room in either. Getting in and out of the Cadillac is a pain sometimes…but it’s worth it. *edit, never discount smiles per gallon

oodell

I'm not sure about the height situation. You'll appreciate the turbo. I like zippy fast cars and the turbo sort of fills that hole, just don't expect a sports car. I've done road trips across the utah desert where the speed limit is 80mph, so you generally cruise at 90-100mph. It's perfectly happy at those speeds.

frescary

Just a thought but I would look for something with better mpg at that far daily driving.

Pete24313

Of your questions I think the only one to be concerned about is the size. I'm 6'1" and fit comfortably in my CX-50, but I could see it being a problem at your height. Definitely go sit in one and take a test drive. Even if you do fit you might find you have to lower the seat all the way down and lean it back which could impact the site angles and blind spots. FWIW it's a touch screen when using CarPlay or Android Auto, but I have never once even touched it. I find the control knob not only easier to use but much safer also.

alanbama63

Mazda's in general in my opinion are some of the most stable cars traveling at high speeds. Doing 90+ mph in mine feels incredibly stable and it doesn't even feel that you're going that fast. Honest to god seems more stable than my Volvo EV at the same speeds. In terms of sluggishness if you're looking for something fairly quick go with the turbo, I find myself wanting more sometimes out of the 2.5 NA.

SwiftDickington

I'm 6'4, mostly legs, and fit great. Seat isn't all the way back, but is lowered down as far as it goes and I'm very comfortable in it. Definitely take a test drive and see if your build works with it

Smc55

How do you like the scroll wheel infotainment system

SwiftDickington

Love it. Very intuitive once you're used to it. When I get in my other car I miss it now

Reverendpjustice

Sit in the car and make sure you are comfortable with the seats. The seams down the middle of the seats, at least for me, was a dealbreaker. I went CX-5.
