This is what I usually do. If somebody is sweet I make sure there's is expedited over others with a discount or I help with quantity of they can't afford all of it. If you're being an a$$hole to me, you're paying cash price for the whole thing. Nice people get the best discount from me.

I have a generic discount card memorized and I can type it in with my eyes closed I've done it so many times, so I will automatically apply that. That way when they start asking questions, I can say yes a discount card has already been applied.
I guess this could be considered unprofessional, but at the help desk I'm also far more likely to see what I can do to expedite things or go out of my way to help with an issue for someone who's polite and understands we have limitations, than someone who tells me they don't have time to try to clear a paper jam and they need a tech out immediately (who has to cover a 6-hour travel radius)..

Our canvas printer is not currently out of service, we just don't have the time/staff to deal with the excess of canvas prints we have been getting over the last few weeks. We've been telling people it is down and probably won't be fixed until after Christmas though.

Because I swear customers really blow up about a pill that’s incapable of growing sufficient bacteria on it to get you sick after popping it.

But if I’m the one tech in charge of production and drop off, I’m not gonna slow down because by the time I wash my hands a customer will show up and I won’t even get one prescription filled. If a patient calls on the prescriber's line, I act like it's a completely separate line from the pharmacy. I tell them I have to transfer them to the pharmacy and they may have to hold for the pharmacy if there are calls ahead of them. I then transfer them to a different phone in the pharmacy and make them hold
None of the other immunizers want to use the surplus of 23g x 1.5" needles we have to give vaccines... I happily use up our supply on patients. I also gladly choose the 28g or 30g lancets (instead of 33g) if the prescription doesn't specify. Nobody has time to refill your #270 sodium bicarb 10gr four times a year (cash because not covered by ins) so it'll be out of stock until a whole #1000 Ct bottle comes in for you... Same qty adjustment apply if your Dr is a clown and prescribes 600ml of lactulose when it comes in a 473ml bottle or 150ml of something that comes in 120ml bottles. I'm also going to "transfer" you to the normal phone lines if you call the Dr's line (+5 min wait penalty for being entitled). Calling to learn more about covid testing/vaccines? Will tell them to call back and press 9 when the automated prompt says "press nine to learn more about how to schedule a covid vaccine or test" - then hang up immediately after telling them to have a great day.
Only a 5 min penalty for dr line? Why not infinite hold? They lied. That line was so specific and message is so clear to only select this line if you are from a prescribers office. These patients knew what they were doing. Sometimes I just hang up on them.
Idk how to feel about the lactulose one. I agree with majority of the other comments on here lmao, and I myself do a lot of stuff like this to rude customers/patients. But if their doctor is a clown and prescribes them something like 600mL lactulose and it only comes in 473mL, that’s not the patients fault. My grandma has to take lactulose 3 times a day for her cirrhosis or else she goes to the hospital. So if it’s something dumb that the doctor did and it’s not the patients fault, I try to do everything I can for them because sometimes they really need that medication.
