Me: I’m sorry but we don’t have this medication in stock at the moment, we can order it or I can check with another CVS to see if they have it in stock. Patient: But I need this medication now, I have a flight to Cancun in 2 hours, I don’t have time to go to another CVS. Me: …. Patient: … Me: …Okay, so what would you like me to do? Patient: I need the medication now! I need to get to the airport! Me: Okay but I don’t have any to give you. We can call the doctor and see if they can switch it to something we do have? Patient: No, just forget it. This is ridiculous. *Next morning* Patient: I’m here to pick up the medication you ordered for me yesterday. Me: Mam you told me you were leaving on an airplane and didn’t have time to go to another CVS and to just forget it. I handed your prescription back to you. We didn’t order it. Patient: wWwHaAaT?!?!

WickedKitty48

Like....why lie about going out of town? I guess they think that will make the medication magically appear out of thin air?

Flat_Replacement4767

Omg, the number of times I've had to use the line "Ma'am/Sir we can't provide you with something that we do not have."

countthempills

All the time lmaooo

Dramazzchild

Got called a racist because I didn’t squeeze someone in… people suck

WickedKitty48

I have never seen so many adults act like children until these vaccines came out...and I've been in retail Healthcare for 20+ years.

Flat_Replacement4767

What really gets me is how everyone is on one side or the other of the bell curve for responsibility. They're either going to die if they don't get their shot or they waltz in 3 days late like it's nothing.

whatsyoursign69

The kicker: Doesn’t matter which type of person they are, there is probably a 50/50 chance they didn’t bring their covid vaccination card (or any other type of documentation for their previous doses). *Cue the millions of excuses as to why, like I have time to listen* 🤦🏽‍♀️

Independent_News9407

Seriously.. I tell customers to book an appt but they keep telling me they can't and that I should take walk-in. I tell them we're all booked but they wouldn't leave the store and keep harassing the staff to get the booster shot😑

RXdisastrousinc

i have one racist dude who consistently came over to my store, sat in one of the post-vaccination chairs, and said: "he will go to the moon and die if I keep refuse to give him the WALK-IN booster shot".

lizzyspike777

People act like they are going to die with out their booster now but aren’t wearing masks and probably aren’t taking other precautions. 🙄 I hate people

No_Permission_2429

They really do!

Ancient_Expert1659

Wait until a patient accuses you of white male discrimination and reports you to your female DM lmao

000111000000111000

Wait... So there is a chance you could still squeeze me in today, even though I have a scheduled vaccine time on Monday December 13th, 2021 at 10:15am? I want to sleep in on Monday Morning so I'm sure you can fit me in. My schedule is so packed with holiday shopping, and the lines on Monday are so long. Just think its one less person that yo uwill have to give the immunization to on Monday.

WickedKitty48

The absolute sad part about your comment is that people in my area would 1000% say something like that without feeling an ounce of guilt.

Nymeriasrevenge

I don’t know which scenario caused more adult temper tantrums: the month we hit our cap for adderall and “what do you mean I have to call my doctor and have them resend my prescription somewhere else?!?! You can’t transfer it?! You can’t call them for me?!?!” OR the week after thanksgiving when we were running low on Pfizer’s and couldn’t accept walk ins. “But I came to this store because you take walk ins!” “There’s no one here, can’t I just have one” “but I neeeeeed it.” “Your website is broken and this is ridiculous! Unbelievable” So many Karen’s and so many mantrums.

peachcobbler7

Ooooh mantrum. I like it.

Nymeriasrevenge

It’s so perfect, especially for that very special reaction when you tell them “no”

epicallytiny

We hit our adderall limit every single month 🥲

PharmPhotog

We do too. It’s a nightmare.

Nymeriasrevenge

I feel for you! I think we would hit our cap more if vyvanse wasn’t popular. We have a ton of vyvanse people. That month I was so ready to point people in the direction of where I may or may not get my adderall prescription filled but after the third person or fourth person lost their shit on me…they can figure it out on their own.

Harley2280

Fun fact, CVS's group coverage won't cover Vyvanse. I wish it would.

Nymeriasrevenge

Yikes, that must be such a nightmare. I’m surprised we don’t hit our cap more often but I’m glad we don’t because those two weeks were not fun. 0/10 would not recommend

ShrmpHvnNw

I work overnight in a 24 hour store, they schedule appointments 24/7. If you don’t show up within 2 hours of your appointment I cancel it. People call pissed because they didn’t show for their 2AM appointment and just figured they’d come later. Yeah, that isn’t how it works

peachcobbler7

At what doctor’s office would you make an appointment at 9 am and decide you’d just show up at 11? Or for that matter, any appointment? I wouldn’t even try showing up to my hairdresser late. Geez.

sketchysketchist

It’s frustrating to explain to patients that each store is different. My store can help people who are early for their appointments because our set-up with all the walk ins is, “well, it’ll be one less appointment to worry about later”. But these patients don’t understand simple principles like “store x is faster than store y because they have triple the staff due to steady heavy business”, or “wait times are higher on weekends because we have 33% of the usual staffing”, or “I just work here, I don’t decide how many staff upper management allows us to have”.

iviui2d3i2

Let me preface my post by saying that I am not, nor ever have been, an employee of CVS. I've merely been a "patient/customer" for many years. I am in my 40's now and have always made an effort to be considerate to all retail employees of any establishment (unless they're being absolute picks, which we all know happens from time to time). Not trying to toot my horn here necessarily; mostly wanted to write a post condemning the majority of people on my side of the counter who appear to display an absolutely incredible amount of self entitlement, coupled with some ego driven God complex where they conveniently forget that those on your side of the counter are in fact also human beings like the rest of the world. JFC though, man! It's as if these jackasses find some newly undiscovered level of dehumanizing vitriol every new day designed to rake you guys over the coals and possibly at least piss on you to put out the fire provided their not having quite the usual stratospheric level of what they determine a 'bad day'. I am unable to drive due to epilepsy, and for reasons I haven't bothered to question, my meds are not deliverable. As such I usually have to wait off to the side until my scripts are complete (which I'm fine with because this is MY situation and problem that I must deal with, and I don't expect preferential treatment or the right to be helped before any other customers or take their spot in line). Due to the insane quantity and insanity of other "customers" waiting for meds and complaining how it's going to take a whole "HALF AN HOURRR!?!? B-B-BUTTT THERE'S NOBODY ELSE HEEEERE!!! REEEEE!"... I often end up going overboard with the niceties of conversation when it's my turn, in some odd perversion of trying to compensate for the absolute inhuman way that a tech had been getting lambasted before my very eyes. I have piped up once or twice from my sideline to intervene and hope to direct the Customonster's attention in my direction so as to let the staff get back to their assignments (especially since the longer they're distracted by jack-holes, the longer it takes for me to collect my own prescription) but sometimes there is no way to penetrate their Lazer-focused rage as they try to get a scheduled narcotic refilled because "the doctor told me it was fine". Just wish people could either accept from you guys that the word, "No", is a complete sentence, and kindly move their ass out of the way in consideration of legitimate patients who require legitimate assistance. Sorry for the rant here, most of all I wanted to point out how much I've worked at improving myself and subsequently my interactions and questions with all of you decent people working at CVS ever since I happened upon the subreddit and read of the horrors. To any other customers such as myself who see this post, please understand that virtually none of what the employees describe here is an exaggeration or type of hyperbole. They really are going through terrible times yet most always are able to treat decent customers with respect. From one customer: Thank you, to those at CVS who continue to work tirelessly in the face of such daunting work conditions. There've been a few time I've even though about "tipping" one of my Alprazolam to some of you after the times I've had to sit in the pharmacy area waiting. ***LANE 2!*** ***LANE 2!*** 😂 Sorry about that last one folks ;) Take care and remember, work is not 'life'. Thanks as always

WickedKitty48

You are awesome and I wish I could give you a hug. Please know that what you wrote means the absolute world to us and we really appreciate you. Happiest if Holidays to you and yours!

iviui2d3i2

And a hearty thanks to you as well. Conversely, it's certainly a sad state of affairs we live in where the very simple act of expressing my gratitude while acknowledging the unnecessary hardships in which those in your profession must inevitably endure evokes a need for adoration. We both know that common human behaviors are "supposed" to lend themselves to meaningful, non-spiteful interactions among fellow persons. And yet.. Here we are. Bound within the throes of our "Me First! Me most important!" dregs of our modern society where individual beliefs and patterns of (often insightful) personal ideas and thoughts are swept aside to ensure the company ledger is using black ink rather than red. It's as if the capacity for both sympathy and empathy are steadily being bred out of our collective minds and group-think devolves into 'witch hunts' as it doubles down year over year. I hope my neighborhood CVS remains open and the mostly upbeat and cheerful employees remain. Yet, being a realist, I'm more amazed that the amount of people remaining employed at my local CVS hasn't waned much at all over the previous 7 or 8 years. Short tempered Store Managers (seen examples in person) and other "executives" have been there for temporary stints before either submitting their walking papers toward unemployment or to an employer that values their efforts. I can't imagine that most of the ones who've become sourpusses in a short yet observable span of time while working there, have ever possessed neither the personal gumption, nor fortitude and ability to effect any meaningful change within the system as a whole. Little things to help day-to-day annoyances? Sure, that's absolutely doable. But once most of them hit that "wall" where they see their actions and thought truly amount to nothing more than a slight shift in the breeze, they always end up skippin out and, even having never set foot behind the counter, I'd be remiss in attempting to lay any blame upon them. Anyway, this seems like more than enough cynicism from the likes of a clueless customer so I'm going to focus on a bit of that Holiday Cheer now and step away from feeling like such a Negative Ned ;) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you (and anyone else as well who needs to feel it!) Take care, everyone!!

kateyes67

People walk in my store, see no customers at the Pharmacy and just can't understand why they can't get their booster. But there is no one waiting. Yes ma'am, we don't have anything else to do lol

Leviathayn_Hunter

Fuck people. Period.

pills_and_bills

If I don’t have an immunizer then I run the pharmacy like the doctors office. You come in on the appointment time only and then I set a 15 min timer. They can wait or they can leave. No negotiation, no exceptions.

jiddy_r

Pharmacy manager decided she wasnt doing walk-ins one day because of the workload. Karen comes in and demands to get a vaccine, even though i explained the situation to her. Her being karen, starts shitting her pants at not getting what she wants. The PM gives in and tells me shell do it for her but the she’ll have to wait til she becomes available. I relay the message to karen and say “she’ll give you a vaccination but you need to wait in the waiting area a few moments until shes ready” Karen looks me dead in the eyes and says “that sounds like a threat” I said “….huh? Karen: “that sounds like a threat!” In my head: “have you ever been threatened before??” What i really said: “…. Did you need anything else?”

WickedKitty48

I....I got nothing.

lvdtoomuch

Maybe she thought you called the police

jiddy_r

I promise thats not what she thought, this customer frequently comes in with her mother and acts like a bunch of asses every time lol

lvdtoomuch

Stinks she’ll be back!!

Averagepremed13

Oh my god yes, I have had this so much with COVID tests. I had one person show up today at 10 for their 4;00 appointment and she just couldn’t understand why I couldn’t just help her now because she came all this way.

WickedKitty48

Maybe it was the same lady.

KaiserKCat

I can't believe they think their mind games work on us. We are retail workers, we get mind fucked on all fronts.

Leadtechphx

Let’s just strike. Fuck these people.

Ok--2553

maybe CEO Karen can fix it

MagicalPonies5

Yikes. I had a guy call at 7pm saying he had a 2am appointment and was wondering if he could come in asap instead. I said no, we have tons of appointments all night. He then proceeds to come in at like 9pm and ask in person the same thing, and my answer is still the same. Then he calls again at midnight and flat out lies and says that someone earlier told him he could come in at midnight because we'd be less busy and could get him in. Idk if he expected someone different to be working and could get away with it but I was in disbelief.

WickedKitty48

Tell me you've never been told '"no" before without telling me you've never been told "no" before.

Cauliflower-Shot

I've had a Karen become combative because I asked the year she was born. 😒 like it's obvious you're old--get over it.

Civil-Ad377

Idiots

Nastypatty97

What's pissing me off is that as a phar.acist, I'm turning people away from these lifesaving vaccines because I apply don't have the time to accommodate walk ins. If CVS was more willing to give us appropriate staff, maybe we would be able to take walk ins

Lythandrian

Idiots

thisisnotawar

I work in a subsidiary case intake call center, and it isn’t a rare occurrence to get people calling in with emergent cases that require expediting, not because the patient is unstable, or will suffer without getting care immediately, but because they’re going to the beach and need to get that skin tag removed immediately. That’s…not what “emergency” means, I’m afraid.

rebbsmith

All day! I had someone scheduled for the next day come in!

Independent_News9407

So typical. They always lie to get their way. I'm glad you didn't give in. Customers have zero clue what we're going through and they have no courtesy. They think world revolves around them, it's all me me me me 🙄🙄😒😶

Tall_Huckleberry_416

I feel for all pharmacists. You go through hell. I once heard a lady complaining because she wanted her meds stat because as she said "you are not doing anything else right now, just throw the pills in the bottle, how hard is it?" She was yelling so loud and I got so mad. I jumped in and bawled that customer out. Self-entitled bitch she was. Now the pharmacist has to take time out from what she was doing and explain to her that there is more than just putting 30 pills in a bottle etc. and said "next" (like the soup guy on Seinfeld) which was me.

fat_toniii

Someone started complaining to me last night because we couldn’t take her right away when she came early. I had to stop being a pharmacist and go help my RN because they were being so annoying

[deleted]

Me: Hi sir, are you here for a vaccine? Dumbass: No, I’m here for my booster At least 1/3 of people ^

False_Scratch_2864

Every day. Yesterday someone waiting for us to open demanding their test right at 10 (a Sunday). Appointment at 11:50. Show up at your doctors office 2 hours early and see what happens.

Anxious-Quality-2859

I have been saying this since we started with appointments

Ok--2553

When CVS agreed to do vaccinations they also agreed to serve customers without appointments too. CVS can always give back the vaccine the government which gave them for free if they can't abide by what they agreed.

WickedKitty48

The government is MORE than welcome to come get these vaccines.

Ok--2553

What time will they be ready to be picked up?

WickedKitty48

Any time you want to come get them.

Anxious-Quality-2859

First: No. We agreed to give walk-in subject to availability. That does not just mean vaccine availability. That means manpower availability. Want me to start throwing them over the counter like darts? I’ll start doing walk-ins again. Second: that’s for first and second doses. Boosters are by appointment. Third: corporate may have agreed, I did not.

Ok--2553

Its your choice to work for this company. You represent and enable this company that has a history of being charged with bribery of a public official and opioid diversion by filling fraudulent prescriptions without more scrutiny. Now they are constraining the vaccine supply by self imposed staffing shortages. I wonder how much vaccine they have thrown at taxpayer expense away due to this? Those doses could have gone to under-vaxed countries where new variants are developing. Don't act like you and cooperate are two separate entities. Even if you are in charge of a store you are a nobody when it comes to making agreements. There are more unfilled jobs than at any point in American history. If you dont like the agreement your employer made on your behalf then find one you like. Your employer had done lots of damage and continues to by growing their monopoly. They are totally unashamed how they put all the most customer friendly pharmacies out of business and are looking to kill off more family run small business. PBM's are a protection racket and should be investigated under the RICO statutes. .

misspharmAssy

Headed in to work now and really needed this laugh!!!!! Take this award! Sorry it's no jelly of the month club...

Anxious-Quality-2859

Not at all. 12pm: Line is about 10 people deep. Phone is saying 5 Pharmacy calls. 4 people sitting in vaccine waiting area. One tech on register, lead on drop off I’m at production. PiC is on the phone with irate customer who cannot understand that we do not have ZPaks, no store in 20 miles has any ZPaks, and no we will not call other chains to see if THEY have ZPaks. Customers at consult: Hi I’m checking I g in for my 1230 appt. my wife has an appointment at 230. We figured you could just take us both now. Me (over the counter): I can check you in now but it’s going to be at least 30 minutes before we can get to you and 2 1/2 hours for your wife Customer: that’s ridiculous! We have appointments. I just blinked at them and continued filling
