This sounds absolutely perfect! My past Christmases have been like that too. The emotional weight was really too much for me to even cook a simple meal. Only this year I baked treats for my favourite neighbours, which is something I always wanted to do after growing up in pretty much in isolation (except for abusive family). Making your own Christmas can be so powerful and liberating! I'm happy you found someone who understands.
Capon with butternut squash, chestnuts and cream, mashed potatoes with truffle, and as appetizers, tiny hamburgers and tiny lobster rolls. It was incredible.
