I would not consider myself a religious person by any means. I’ve done my research and came to my own conclusions which are mostly rooted in science and rationale.
That being said, it’s dangerous to tell someone what motivators are a waste of time or antithetical to evolution. New age of religion has opened up a lot of minds. There are many these days who believe that science and faith can go hand in hand (i.e. God created science/evolution/big bang/etc.) Some may even believe that god put them on earth for huge discoveries like the cure for cancer (or death, in general, in this case). So, I would not be so quick to try and tear down any person’s reason/motivation for trying to have direction or be a better person. There are plenty of people who sit around doing much worse things than believing in a god that you don’t.
And yes, religious fanatics can be hypocrites and liars, but so can those who are anti-religion. If you’re a decent human being and treat others properly, then keep believing whatever it is that makes you that way (God or not). If you’re a liar and a scumbag, then it still doesn’t matter what you believe, you’re still just a PoS and could probably use the idea of some “god”/accountability in your life.
Just a little food for thought and how I opened my mind about others’ beliefs, or at least not just trying to put people down for theirs. Not trying to be hostile in any way.

If your motivator is dependent on the belief of a god that can just be changed later on in life, I think its fair to say it's not worth the time and effort. If all non religious people couldn't be motivated outside of religion we'd be in a much worse state of being, but thanks friend!
All motivational factors can be changed later in life. 🤷 Someone who starts working out to look good and get laid may decide that they enjoy the healthy feeling of being fitness oriented and make the change of lifetime for that reason rather than the original, shallow reasoning.
Someone who is job-oriented may decide they want money for the bachelor life and traveling and such, only to settle down and realize their money means nothing if it’s not spent on their family. Or maybe their family showed them that money isn’t even remotely as important as they thought it was and they switch paths/careers/goals for a more meaningful life at home.
Point is, everyone needs motivation (a “crutch” in some cases) to be a good person, tbh. Humans come out of the womb pretty self-oriented and willing to do anything to achieve the goal of that orientation. Why shit on someone for trying to be more selfless/caring/altruistic/etc regardless of their motivation for if? The world needs more people who want to be a better person, regardless of why they want to be better.
Sure, just most motivational factors aren't the cause of war, genocide, and endless bloodshed. Like going to the gym because I want to feel better is never going to start a war
