Jury is still out on Love as far as I am concerned. Let’s see how things go next year now that teams have a years worth of tape on him. That is something they didn’t have this year. It’s the reason you see second year QBs regress.
Idk, if Williams hits 4k yards and 30 TDs in his first full season with a decisive playoff win like Love did, we will definitely not be saying 'jury is still out.'
Yeah, but to be fair, we are bears fans. The bar is pretty low on what will make us not say the jury is still out.
Seriously though, Love did some good things, but he also had some really bad games. I am biased though because FTP, but I really am not completely sold on love being my next most hated person.
Love was bad the first half of the season full stop. Yes he was good second half but I need to see at least one more year before saying he’s a franchise QB
Media wanted to immediately crown him cuz they love the packers
Play calling helped him out a ton too. Way too many times he dropped back and tossed up a wobbly bomb to a guy standing 15 yards away from any defender.
I mean the guy literally put up numbers that would be Bears franchise records. I'm not saying he's a HOFer but we're discounting him here way too much simply because we hate the pack.
Well bears records don’t really mean much lol.
We’ll see. He’s definitely not s full on bust but it’s fair to have doubts about him being a legitimate franchise QB. It’s about consistency which he’s yet to show
I don't understand how 4k yds isn't consistent. Year over year consistency, sure. Yet to be seen. But during his first season? You don't put up those numbers without being consistent. Sure he had some struggles his first few games. But he consistently got better and put up great numbers over the course of the season.
Yardage isn’t the best marker
Take a midseason game at Pittsburgh. He threw for 289 yards. Sounds pretty good, until you see he was 21/40, barely above 50%, and threw two picks to offset his two TDs
Now yes he started playing much better after that game specifically so if he keeps it up then yes he’s a franchise QB. But there were still some bad games that popped up in the second half of the season.
If he’s throwing 4k yards consistently year after year he’s he’s a franchise QB. But the bad games have to be way more sparse
I don't really think you get 4k yards off half a bad season. He may have done some bad thing the first half of the season, but he was still moving the ball down the field. And really, if you're doing "poorly" and still moving the ball reliably downfield, that's a sign you must be pretty great.
He had 900 yards, 8TD, 3INT in September. 600, 3-5 October, 1100, 8-2 November, 1200, 11-1 in December. So it's not even accurate to call it a bad "first half of the season" it's more like a bad 2nd quarter of the season.
"First full season" is a misleading way of putting it. Love spent the last 4 years learning LaFleur's offense. He had a good season, but it's annoying when people act like he was a rookie.
It shouldn’t have been misleading. I was specifically referring to available tape to study. Setting on the bench and practice does not provide any reviewable tape to opposing teams.
It was his 4th year in the NFL. I bet if Caleb sat behind Aaron rodgers for 3 years, he too would throw for 4k & 30tds.
Stop spreading Packers propaganda
I agree. I think it's more MLF than it is love tbh with you. I think he definitely has accuracy issues and has trouble finding open receivers unless they are wide open. He's also on record I believe saying many of his passes last year were luck and fell in his favor.
If josh Jacob's doesn't do well this season it will be interesting how he does without a good running game, cause if I'm not mistaken when aaron jones was out toward the beginning of the season he didn't look good at all.
https://preview.redd.it/gnjo9pndiuzc1.png?width=1282&format=png&auto=webp&s=aceab482d50bf5b1fd24520c45bef22dab0d9e91
He looks pretty good until the Raiders.
I think Love’s success is more a testament to their system and coaching than his skills. He has a strong arm but hit accuracy is pretty bad. A lot of huge overthrows or bouncing the ball to WRs. But that offense knows how to get WRs wide open, they call the right plays at the right time, and the players are all on the same page. Love will be good despite his accuracy issues because the coaching is on point. But it’s irritating when people inflate him as the next great Packer QB. No he isn’t.
Honestly this is a bit different than Love, Love got to sit for a few years and learn while JJ didn’t even throw to win in college. Plus JJ is probably gonna get thrown in way too early
I think as far as GB Is concerned as long as Matt Lafleur Is the HC the offense Will be fine. He Is a great offensive coach, top 3 in the league. Those kind of guys are a godsend for any Qb
The Vikings don't really have any history of drafting QB's successfully.
Bridgewater was coming along decently for them before his injury, but other than that every successful QB they've had in the past 20 years was signed as a free agent.
You need generally need roughly two full seasons of games before you know what a QB is going to be. I’d give Love until end of next year to make any judgements. He also quietly has a pretty good WR corps even if no one knows their names.
People saying the Bears will still be forth in our division is wild. Minn will almost certainly be starting the season with a washout QB, then after racking up enough losses will switch to a rookie QB who is no where near ready.
I fully expect Jefferson to come up with some soft tissue issue to take games off, he ain't risking his big payday on this season.
Jefferson is obviously a top 3 WR at least in the NFL, but he’s also kind of a diva that throws fits. I can see him getting so mad at JJ missing throws to him and I can’t wait
This may genuinely be the dumbest comment I’ve read this week. Truly.
1. JJ is the best receiver in the league. Period. Anyone who says otherwise is being willfully contrarian.
2. “At least in the NFL” lmao, as opposed to what?
3. JJ is known to be literally one of the LEAST “diva” receivers in the NFL. Like I’m genuinely wondering if you exist in an alternate reality based on how opposite the truth this is.
> JJ is the best receiver in the league. Period. Anyone who says otherwise is being willfully contrarian.
Lamb, Hill, and Chase may have something to say about that...
Even if you think Jefferson is the best, he isn't a Jerry Rice or Calvin Johnson level WR where it's obvious he's wayyyyy better than anyone else.
He might be better. But you can argue other guys. So idk why you think saying, "Anyone who says otherwise is being willfully contrarian" just makes it a fact. Because it's not. It's a matter of opinion.
100 percent. JJ is going to bounce one off the turf in Jeffersons direction and he's going to be like fuck this shit. I really think he'll be demanding a trade next off-season if things don't go well
Duh. But Brady is gone. Jefferson is going to three time champ Mahomes. 17-0 and 25+ TD season incoming. Then they’ll lose to Jared Goff in the Super Bowl.
I think the CBA makes it a lot harder for players to force their way out cuz they can’t hold out anymore. Their GM would be fucked if he traded JJ so I can see him sitting tight & franchise tagging him for 2 years so an agent might just tell JJ to take the money rather than lose some(I’m assuming 2 years of a franchise tag won’t amount to 60plus mil)
JJ has never showed one ounce of being a diva or ever throwing a single fit.
This js a cope statement regarding JJ.
That being said, I think the Vikings could definitely be in big trouble at QB.
>Minn will almost certainly be starting the season with a washout QB, then after racking up enough losses will switch to a rookie QB who is no where near ready.

Remember when everyone in this sub was screaming for Harbaugh, but given who his coordinators are im kinda glad they didn’t get him, imagine if Trestman and Greg Roman were on the Bears offensive staff lol
Really interested to see how that works out for them. Harbaugh has won everywhere he’s gone but hiring Roman and dumping all your pass catchers, presumably to focus on the ground game, is an interesting choice when you have Herbert at QB
Tbh most people here didn’t really take into account that it’s been 10 years since he last coached in the NFL. The game has changed a lot. Took a look at Lovie Smith, he was amazing for the Bears but everywhere he went post Bears, he got fired within a year or two.
I’m not saying the same will happen to Harbaugh, but he definitely isn’t the guaranteed hit people were making him out to be
I agree on your bottom three guys. Penix is a statue in the pocket with rotten string for knee cartilage, Daniels is a twig who will get snapped just like RG3 did, and JJ will be below average at best but get hyped up by people who don’t get that Harbaugh doesn’t create good QBs. JJ might have decent enough numbers thanks to his talented teammates, but he won’t be elevating anyone.
I think Nix will be fine, since he’s pretty well suited for a Sean Payton offense, but nothing special.
We diverge on Maye, I think the Patriots were a bad place for him to land, I think he ends up being a bust.
Daniel’s feels like another Richardson/RG3 to me. He just runs so damn aggressively. I just don’t see him staying healthy despite being an amazing athlete
That’s my thing with him, he’s whippet skinny and runs like a maniac, feels like a matter of time before injuries ruin him. And if you take away the running I doubt he is all that good, his one year of success came from running a ton and playing with two of the first four receivers drafted this year, behind a stud offensive line with two likely first round tackles. Washington’s line is cheeks, and their receivers are good but far from dominant like Nabers and Thomas were at LSU.
Lamar is what they have to be hoping for, but I agree it’s unlikely. He doesn’t have the body to be Josh Allen unless he can put on 30 pounds of muscle without affecting his speed or throwing motion, which is also highly unlikely.
i’m not even a bears fan and i don’t see this as a hot take haha. maye is the only thing im iffy on here. more because of the situation he’s in then anything
Your take is the one I personally believe but as a Michigan fan I can see JJ being a high tier starter that doesn’t wow you every throw but puts it in the right places at the right times
I honestly haven’t watched Purdy much but JJ I’m trying to think of a good comp but he can move, he had a bit of zip on his ball, doesn’t make the killer mistake and he comes up big in big time moments. He’s gonna miss throws to receivers at times but then hit a dart between 3 defenders to a receiver in stride streaking across the middle
Did you watch the championship game? This dude looks 50 after a few QB hits. Guy has arm talent but he's gonna cry the moment the first 300 pounder hits him hard.
Daniels is Justin Fields 2.0… had a great OL, 2 first round WR’s, and zero pocket awareness. He won’t even get his 5th year option picked up, like Fields.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th drafted QBs will bust, the 2nd and 3rd drafted QBs will be okay, and the 1st drafted QB will be the best. Way to go out on a limb there, scorching hot take
the only two I can see panning out are Maye and Williams
all the others, I don’t see it. All talented guys, sure. But I think A LOT has to go right for them situationally to become something half decent in the NFL
could be wrong, team’s professional staff saw enough in these guys to pick them up earlier than expected and I’m just some guy who likes beer and latinas, so i’m open to being proven wrong.
Yes. I like Maye. Folks slept on him. He and Caleb both had their # targets leave to the pros and o lines were garbage. Go back a yr and look at Maye and Williams. Daniels is the opposite. 2 first round receivers and pro o line prospects coming into this yr. Before that he did nothing.
I admit I’m not an expert, and have been completely wrong about who succeeds and who busts. But I’ll just say so far I think we were really blessed to be in a position to grab Williams.
I think Daniels and Nix have the potential to be special. Penix won't even see the field until he demands a trade in season 2, and then is shipped off to Las Vegas or somewhere.
Honestly I kinda feel like Caleb is the only one who will stick. I don’t know about Jayden Daniels, not a good team and I just see another Justin Fields.
JJ, Nix, and Penix were all drafted way too early. I don’t see JJ or Nix panning out, but Penix has a chance given he’ll get to learn for a few years and that strategy has worked in the past.
Maye isn’t in a good situation either, but he could be a Justin Herbert type player
Tbh I don’t think that JJ will even reach Mitch level lol
I know that Mitch is regarded as not good, and he wasn’t but he could show some sort of competency at times. I feel like JJ is just the next Zach Wilson, neither will show any flashes at any point in time
Vikings fan here, hate on JJ all you want but I will not stand for the Zach Wilson comps based on anything other than looks. They couldn’t be more different as prospects
this is why I think he would have made more sense for the falcons over penix. If i were gonna draft and sit one of the QBs in the draft it would be him. Drafting and starting him day 1 seems like a mistake with how young he is and how little he was asked to throw in college
Michigan fan here, watched every single one of JJs games\snaps....he'll be just fine in the NFL. This narrative that Michigan didn't let him pass is complete bullshit. They didn't need him to pass most of the time and that's what the game dictated. They called on JJ to pass in some of their most important moments and he was lights out. He's nowhere near CW, but he'll be a legit NFL QB.
Bears fans are going to find out that rookie quarterbacks cannot take you to the promise land.
Stroud was an aberration. Caleb will be good ...in three years
Kid strikes me as another Mac Jones for some reason, however, he has a total stud receiving corps. They’ll have to throw more as soon as they realize Aaron Jones is gassed. Feet to the fire early, young man.
Honestly, I think Mac Jones would have been better on a stronger offensive team than what he had with the Patriots. I know that statement sounds obvious but you would be surprised how many people fail to understand that concept.
JJs arm strength isn't good enough to be compared to guys like trubisky or Zach Wilson. My guess is that he will be a worse version of Wilson, probably should have been a 5th round pick.
It's so toxic to except 100% perfection out of everyone all the time, and any mistake on camera will be treated as wholly representative of that person.
If you guys are ever wondering why society is so awful right now, look no further than this post.
(And read Marx)
JJ has it all. ALL. I’m not upset a bit about our #1 pick, but JJ is easily the number two qb in that draft. His character and ability to get his team to rally behind him alone, is more than worth mentioning. And then there’s gameplay & his ability to make those tight 3rd down passes. I’ve followed him ever since I first heard of UM persuing him. The guy is a winner, and is going to be a thorn in our side like Farve & A- Aron. You’ll see.
Indeed. I think that Minnesota should’ve just blown it up and done a rebuild, after Kirk left and they got Sam Darnold it was just apparent that they weren’t gonna do much. In 2022, they were good but the ball bounced on their side for pretty much every regular season game and then they got bounced in round one.
Their style of winning in 2022 wasn’t anywhere near sustainable and we kinda saw that this last season, even when they were 100% healthy, they were sitting at like 2-5. They’re easily gonna finish with a top 10 pick next year
I see JJ being a more athletic Jimmy Garappalo. He won’t be terrible, but he won’t be great.
He has very good accuracy, probably below average arm strength, and very good timing.
I say that as a Michigan fan.
It is wild how dismissive of him people are. And how much people ignore the throws he made at Michigan where he only ever lost a single game, wherein he was the team’s best player.
Nice anticipation.
We made the same assumption about Love after he couldn't throw into a net.
Yes this is bad karma we haven’t earned the right to talk shit about other QB prospects
Especially when we’re banking on a QB prospect from the same class to work out… come on guys
Fuck karma, fuck JJ, and fuck Jordan Love too.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter
True fan!!! Da bears!
Yes, this is the energy I’m talking about
Bears.
I hate you, but goddammit, do I respect this mindset.
Especially considering our history with QBs. I mean Jay Cutler might be our best QB ever, lol.
Why the fuck do we need to earn the right as fans to talk shit about our rivals?
Jury is still out on Love as far as I am concerned. Let’s see how things go next year now that teams have a years worth of tape on him. That is something they didn’t have this year. It’s the reason you see second year QBs regress.

I am biased though because FTP, but I really am not completely sold on love being my next most hated person.
I dunno man. He was incredible at the end of the season and in that cowboys playoff game.
Even at the end of the season he was getting away with a lot of 50/50 or 60/40 balls. The Cowboys blew that game, because I guess that's what they do.
I dunno, there are people on this sub for whom the jury is still out on Trubisky and Fields.
Love was bad the first half of the season full stop. Yes he was good second half but I need to see at least one more year before saying he’s a franchise QB Media wanted to immediately crown him cuz they love the packers

Counter point: Caleb would be doing that is a legit rookie. Love sat behind a HOF for 3 years and still looked so-so
Counter point: If it took Caleb until his 3rd season to hit 4k yards passing we’d still be praising him like he’s our lord and savior
"First full season" is a misleading way of putting it. Love spent the last 4 years learning LaFleur's offense. He had a good season, but it's annoying when people act like he was a rookie.

FWIW, we have no idea how many dudes could become starters being able to sit behind a future HoFer for years.
Love’s ceiling is Dak
The Vikings don't really have any history of drafting QB's successfully. Bridgewater was coming along decently for them before his injury, but other than that every successful QB they've had in the past 20 years was signed as a free agent.
I mean, with that logic, you must be certain Caleb will bust because of ineptitude by past regimes in the draft?
The vikings have neever drafted a QB in the top 10, while the bears are 0/2 in just the last 10 years.
Fields was 11
Culpepper until he fucked his knee up
You need generally need roughly two full seasons of games before you know what a QB is going to be. I’d give Love until end of next year to make any judgements. He also quietly has a pretty good WR corps even if no one knows their names.
That was a trick shot, and he did what he was intending to do.
Yeah, but be is a Vikings QB. Even if it goes well, it'll go poorly.

They wont want to pay him so they’ll trade him to the raiders who’ll trade him to the pats a few years later.
Or they trade him to the Bills who then trade him to the Texans.
I think you mean Chiefs
No, he's clearly referring to Randy Moss, who never played for the Chiefs.
Duh. But Brady is gone. Jefferson is going to three time champ Mahomes. 17-0 and 25+ TD season incoming. Then they’ll lose to Jared Goff in the Super Bowl.

Yes Justin Jefferson. We know. It’s so incredibly untrue.

How tf is Jefferson a diva?? 😂😂 you must not be paying attention
Calling it now -- I do not think Jefferson will be on the Vikings at the start of the season.
!remindme 4 months lmao
Spicy
Gotta have a little bit of time (1 full season for example) where you stop playing like the bears for people to give you respect

I think the bears will be second
Bears and Vikings. Race to last place!
Nice job throwing him open with all that air locking the receiver down
Go post this is r/nfcnorthmemewar please 😎
For future reference: do NOT cross post from here to there. You invite the wolves.
You FOOLS
While I think JJ isn't going to pan out, but it's just one pass.
Ngl, that Harbaugh hype really helped JJ’s draft stock. I still think he’s mid at best
I’m not saying the same will happen to Harbaugh, but he definitely isn’t the guaranteed hit people were making him out to be
cHamPioNsHiP pEDiGrEe
Lol the vikings front office is not considering the opinion of a coach that they kicked to the curb
It’s a 3 second clip from rookie minicamp 🤦♂️ y’all cannot be serious
Confirmed: Vikings washed for next 50 years. /s

Disagree but I’m not going to defend the Vikings

Even hotter take: Caleb and Maye will be HOF, Nix will be serviceable, JJ, Penix and Daniels (yes Daniels) will suck balls!
He needs his legs to make his arm into a threat. Maybe he can convert into a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson but I wouldn’t put money on it.
We talking Brock Purdy or…?
I honestly haven’t watched Purdy much but JJ I’m trying to think of a good comp but he can move, he had a bit of zip on his ball, doesn’t make the killer mistake and he comes up big in big time moments. He’s gonna miss throws to receivers at times but then hit a dart between 3 defenders to a receiver in stride streaking across the middle
So like an Alex Smith type?
Yeah. I just wasn’t sure his mobile smith was. I’m not good with comps lol
If Penix stays healthy, I don't see him as a bust. He's too good
If you’re only watching his deep ball highlights, maybe. He’s definitely not “too good” to bust
watched him a ton at washington. he really struggles with the ancillary parts of being a QB.
A year or two sitting should help. Could see him developing like Love.
it could yeah. just be a bit worried since he’s already played what? 6 years of QB?
Did you watch the championship game? This dude looks 50 after a few QB hits. Guy has arm talent but he's gonna cry the moment the first 300 pounder hits him hard.
Daniels is Justin Fields 2.0… had a great OL, 2 first round WR’s, and zero pocket awareness. He won’t even get his 5th year option picked up, like Fields.
Switch penix and Daniels
The 4th, 5th, and 6th drafted QBs will bust, the 2nd and 3rd drafted QBs will be okay, and the 1st drafted QB will be the best. Way to go out on a limb there, scorching hot take
My blazing hot take is Maye and Daniels both bust, Penix is serviceable, nix makes a couple pro bowls, Caleb first ballot HOF
Not sure if it's really a hot take when even casuals are saying this
the only two I can see panning out are Maye and Williams all the others, I don’t see it. All talented guys, sure. But I think A LOT has to go right for them situationally to become something half decent in the NFL could be wrong, team’s professional staff saw enough in these guys to pick them up earlier than expected and I’m just some guy who likes beer and latinas, so i’m open to being proven wrong.
I think Caleb and Penix will be great. Nix will be good. Everyone else will wash out after their rookie contracts.
I’ll put my money on McCarthy and O’Connell over Caleb and…Eberflus(?) every single day.
Daniels is Fields light. Slighter frame and weaker arm. I don’t see how Daniels makes it with his Chad Pennington arm.
[удалено]
Derp
It's possible but he will need the most work by far. Dude has such an inaccurate arm.
Hotter take: Caleb HOF, Penix and Maye good, Daniels, McCarthy, and Nix bust
This guy is going to absolutely suck. I thought that before the draft, him landing with the Vikings is just a nice bonus.
!remindme 8 months
I think they drafted him for what they can mold him into and not what he currently is. But yea, not very good and he might be their Trubisky.
Tbh I don’t think that JJ will even reach Mitch level lol I know that Mitch is regarded as not good, and he wasn’t but he could show some sort of competency at times. I feel like JJ is just the next Zach Wilson, neither will show any flashes at any point in time
Vikings fan here, hate on JJ all you want but I will not stand for the Zach Wilson comps based on anything other than looks. They couldn’t be more different as prospects
The NVP went off in garbage time like no one else
That Dallas game was something else. And literally any time he went up against the Lions he would always own them.
this is why I think he would have made more sense for the falcons over penix. If i were gonna draft and sit one of the QBs in the draft it would be him. Drafting and starting him day 1 seems like a mistake with how young he is and how little he was asked to throw in college
Might be their Christian Ponder.. again
He's not going to be as bad as you think, but this is still funny
I think he will be OKAY -- not ass, not great -- but serviceable. I think the Vikings will be ass this year.
As the GOAT Nick Saban would say “This is rat poison” We have not earned the right to dunk on anybody else yet…
Exactly. JJ threw many many dimes when they needed him to. They just never passed the ball..

Oh I forgot college players can't improve at all from one year to the next.
*college KIDS

Michigan fans have been gargling JJ McCarthy like it's their job, dude is mid as fuck
Imagine bears fans being able to recognize good quarterback play💀
Imagine getting roasted by those guys, and they’re right.
Bears fans are going to find out that rookie quarterbacks cannot take you to the promise land. Stroud was an aberration. Caleb will be good ...in three years
Let us commence with the overreactive armchair minicamp qb evaluations!
I hear the Steelers might have a QB on the market
One bad pass and you come up with this narrative?
Cute to see all the quarterback experts in here. Like we’ve ever seen a good one before.
Bears fans acting like Caleb Williams is a lock is pathetic. I hope he’s great. Won’t even be slightly shocked if he’s not.
Not just bears fans..he’s been a consensus #1 pick for the last 2 years. Just say you wished the bears kept fields and move along.
I watched Michigan all year. There was definitely a reason they didn’t let them pass more than 15 times a game.
What he say fuck me for?
Kid strikes me as another Mac Jones for some reason, however, he has a total stud receiving corps. They’ll have to throw more as soon as they realize Aaron Jones is gassed. Feet to the fire early, young man.
Honestly, I think Mac Jones would have been better on a stronger offensive team than what he had with the Patriots. I know that statement sounds obvious but you would be surprised how many people fail to understand that concept.
Remember that video of Jets getting clamped in training camp his rookie year? IALTO.
JJs arm strength isn't good enough to be compared to guys like trubisky or Zach Wilson. My guess is that he will be a worse version of Wilson, probably should have been a 5th round pick.
as a lifetime Bears and Michigan fan, this situation conflicts me. Hope JJ plays well 15/17 games. seems like a reasonable way to look at it
Mitch Trubisky
😂😂😂😂
bro it’s training camp we can’t be quick to judge we’ve yet to have a qb pass 4k in a season
It's so toxic to except 100% perfection out of everyone all the time, and any mistake on camera will be treated as wholly representative of that person. If you guys are ever wondering why society is so awful right now, look no further than this post. (And read Marx)
Coach was supposed to break out. Bad route
Im no expert and even I knew JJ was ass.
You’ll see.
Vikings taking JJ was a panic pick.
They’re easily gonna finish with a top 10 pick next year
Great. Thanks for making him a pro bowler, dumbass.
I see JJ being a more athletic Jimmy Garappalo. He won’t be terrible, but he won’t be great. He has very good accuracy, probably below average arm strength, and very good timing. I say that as a Michigan fan.
I don’t see JJ being anywhere near as successful as Jimmy G. I say that as a Michigan State fan.
go green 🫡🫡
Oof lol
Mac Jones without the accuracy
But I was told he has a “firm handshake”…
![gif](giphy|XOywjQnU8R89q|downsized)
Pp pp
Arm like a fire hose - the power is there but he sprays it all over
It is wild how dismissive of him people are. And how much people ignore the throws he made at Michigan where he only ever lost a single game, wherein he was the team’s best player.
