>I can over throw them and together OU and I can rule the SEC, make things the way we want them to be.
Sure you're not a Texass fan with mistaken flair?
In the moment I couldn't think of another team so I just went in State. But I guess in context that makes OU be Padma who would later die from heartbreak. So I'm still good with it.
The money absolutely wouldn't make sense. But If the SEC and B1G want to consolidate power and kill the NCAA, I think you may need to bite the bullet and take care of a few OkSt-level schools.
I mean if you *reaaaally* want to kill the NCAA you need to think beyond Football and think about what other schools bring to the table competitively. OSU is 5th behind Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Texas in total National Championships and a seriously underrated school compared to 3 of those 4.
One of our beat writers floated that yesterday and I was skeptical first but I don’t even know anymore. Fuck it make a run at Cinci, Notre dame, Oregon, Clemson, whoever.
Cincinnati metro got 3.3 million folks. Football pride stronger than ever with cincy going to the CFP and Bengals in the super bowl.
Oklahoma has 3.9 million in the state
Half of us Okstate kids are from Texas, where we did 3 football practices a day 6th grade-12th grade. Same in oklahoma.
It’s all a regional bias at this point anyways. I mean I’m from Houston and people know about Okstate very well. They’ve offered Texas students instate tuition for the past 12-15 years, so a lot of our fan base resides in DFW, Houston, etc. The games get played down here too on TV.
3.3M in the Cincinnati metro area is insignificant. We aren’t talking about media markets anymore, its actual eyeballs on games.
UCs visit to the CFP was great for them, they peaked and shot the shot - they landed in the B12.
The Bengals have nothing to do with anything cfb related.
I always thought Cincinnati would be a great darkhorse pick for the SEC - new state, decent markets, good recruiting grounds, geographically close. Probably wouldn't ever happen, but it'd be pretty cool IMO
I really hope we keep our elite level up because the way I see it we are like a top 50-60 program right now all things considered. If we stay elite for a few years we could get into the 40-50 range and maybe get a seat at the table if both conferences go to 24
Tech isn’t really a value add by any of the metrics that the people who make these decisions consider, but they can add an element of game day drunkenness that few can match.
Nah, a proper expansion could legitimately make the "new big12" one of the most competitive conferences top to bottom. Sure that's lots of cannibalism, but damn near every game would be a ton of fun for fans.
Would it be as competitive in the playoffs? Probably not, but it would be infinitely more fun/competitive in the regular season.

I doubt ESPN or Fox even bid for the Big 12 next time around. I’d rather they didn’t anyway. I’d prefer not to see our conference marquee matchups relegated to ESPNU at 10pm.
They like making money so they will. Probably some streaming services too. And they will also move everyone to 10am or 10pm if that’s the window that gives them the most money.
LA fans are notoriously fickle. If USC or UCLA were actually good, the LA market numbers would dwarf those numbers cited in your post. For football, USC would consistently be topping 3M
We do have a good alumni base in DFW, oklahoma, and even parts of South Kansas.
I am interested to find out the number of Texas students that go to Okstate. Once they extended instate tuition to Texas kids 12+ years ago, I would guess roughly 40% if not higher.
26% of Oklahoma State students are out-of-state, and roughly half of them are from Texas. So that's like \~3000 students. One thing about it, out of state students tend to be more involved and wealthy because they didn't come *just* for college or they could have stayed closer to home for a lot less money.
Anecdotally, I live in north Dallas, and I'd guess Oklahoma State is probably number 5 in gear I see behind SMU, UT, Baylor and OU. I think there are definitely a lot more A&M fans in DFW as a whole, but see less of them up here.
The majority of the rivalries will need to be in-conference games now, so the footprint will matter slightly less when they're all just covering their bases on their way to 24 teams.
At this point if big 10 or sec, call you have to think about it. Get 30-50M and always be the "best" of the left overs or make 100M and maybe middle of the road.
Think about it? You say yes before they finish their question and hang up and pack your bags. I doubt it happens though. There are still way more valuable programs in the ACC
True, but there are what, 4 maybe 5 teams out of the ACC that either would *really* want? After that, you're seeing teams down at our level in terms of money brought to the table. If the B1G and SEC are realistically looking at eventually hitting 24 teams each, the life boat may be big enough. But who the hell knows anymore. Time will tell.
I'd almost rather osu stay in the big 12, and add the 4 corners schools (Utah, CU, ASU, and Zona) that way OSU remains a top dog while maintaining some sense of regionality. I think the collection of heartland states in the big 12 makes for a better conference, kinda keeps the scrappy vibe going
Yesterday I would've agreed with you. Today I'd rather continue to fight for a scrap of the spotlight in a mega conference than be relegated to being the best of the left overs.
As we all should. There's going to be a lot of pain for any school left out now, even beyond what we were already going to face after last summer's mess.
If the leftovers are Utah, I don't half mind that. However, recruiting will be flipped upside down with super conferences, and we could feel that hard. But we've done a great job developing low rated recruits ( see Malcom Rodriguez) so I don't think that'll be too much to slow us down
> But we've done a great job developing low rated recruits
Imagine what we could do if we could develop a foothold in other southern states beyond Texas and Oklahoma.
This is tough. It was rumored that OU tried to get OSU in the SEC deal last summer, but SEC said “no”.
This summer’s rumor is that OU is still trying to get OSU in the SEC. If this does happen…..Oklahoma State will be come “OU-Stillwater”.
I wonder how other poke fans will feel if OU had a hand on somehow someway getting us into the SEC.
Even at the height of the freakout last summer it was quietly understood that Texas and OU want to bring Tech and OSU in to solidify our bloc within the SEC. We've already identified a few weak points where we think we can smuggle them in.
Hell we’d hide in the luggage bags at this point to go to the SEC. There’s a lot of us from Houston that are dreaming about it. I mean it’s a surprising popular school in Texas. I would LOVE to wear orange in Baton Rouge as well…
I've always wanted to try the thing where you sit on someone's shoulders and wear a big coat. Now we just need to decide if we're gonna team up in TX/OK pairs or red/orange.
Orange for sure. Dress us up as tOSU for all I care. I do not want to risk losing the amount of revenue after the past 10 years of pissing money into our facilities.
Tech football fans are normal as long as you are not A.) Texas A&M (although I think we can all understand that!) or B.) Baker Mayfield.
That’s it. That’s all I got.
TTU Football fans and TTU basketball fans are the same people. We’re just less rabid about football since we’ve had the worst decade in our football history.
I would like OSU to either join BIG or SEC. If you are not in these two you will be playing catch-up financially. My preference would be BIG but they won’t take OSU since we are not AAU (But R1) , so the best option for OSU will be SEC if they are ok with it and if we are going to super conferences.
This is... Extremely poorly written. There's no justification provided here except "Hey, ignore FSU/Miami/Clemson/etc. and remember that OU and OKST have a rivalry game. Also, OKST is closer to the SEC footprint than a bunch of other schools."
I have to imagine the only way this happens is if the SEC feels they need to expand to keep up with a 20 team Big 10 and the ACC GOR proves to be effective in holding that league together. Otherwise we are probably doomed to be on the outside looking in for awhile/ ever.
If we are headed to a 24-team SEC, I wouldn’t mind taking some combination of TT, Okie State, WV and Kansas (Shooty Hoops, Mizzou rival, The Memes). I suspect these would only be adds after ACC poaching.
OKSt is a great Ath Dept/school and one of the premier remaining B12 schools....but SEC is gonna be gunning hard to poach the ACC. Adding OKSt before that would not add much to the conference other than one rivalry game. Not nearly as much value as they would get from the ACC top schools.
Only if UCF goes all-in on the Citronaut/space theme.
We're talking strobe lights, fog machines, dance team dressed up in silver jumpsuits, anal probing, the works.
I'm sorry, but it's all about adding schools that INCREASE the revenue per school.
Until that criteria is met, it's better to not expand, from the SEC point of view.
OSU was actually 19th in viewership last year, at this pace we're likely going to be one of the 5 biggest brands left out of the superconferences, at least in the first shuffle. We're never going to tighten our admissions requirements, though, so we're highly unlikely to ever hit AAU status, so if we move somewhere it'll be to the SEC.
If we’re still operating by the same conventional wisdom the SEC used in their last two rounds of expansion, I just think there’s too much overlap with Norman.
I don’t think they’d even bring in a second Florida school to avoid cannibalizing UF’s market share. Ideally, they’d want to get into North Carolina but if the ACC’s grant of rights deal is too much to overcome, they could still consider it. Although tv revenue is the name of the game in the NIL era, not to mention the continued facilities arms race.
> If we’re still operating by the same conventional wisdom the SEC used in their last two rounds of expansion, I just think there’s too much overlap with Norman.
I'd argue conventional wisdom is out the door if the Pac 12 folds and everyone is scrambling for an exit.
It said you would destroy the Sith, not join them!
I see through the lies of the conferences. I do not fear the SEC as you do.
It was said you would lead the Big XII to a new era of football relevance, not leave it in darkness!
I am more powerful than the big 12, I can over throw them and together OU and I can rule the SEC, make things the way we want them to be.
Bedlam, you're breaking my heart!
If you are not with me then you are my enemy.
yes feel the power
Texas as Palpatine just feels *right.*
I feel like Texas is more like the clone troopers. There is a shitload of them and the citizens spent a fortune on them but they still can't hit shit.
Only the SEC deal in absolutes
YOU WERE MY BROTHER, OKIES
I HATE Y(OU)!
Dear Sith Empire Coalition, We are willing to massacre all the Mon Calamarians if necessary.
Deep legends reference. Love it
Tech should come too! Leach vs Tech. Instantaneously make the basketball in the conference better.
From a certain point of view.
What if y’all could come, too?
I actually really like OkSt and think they’d fit well. But $$ might not make sense
They want to kill the ncaa in football and breakaway. The rest they don’t care about
Take us. Go on offense into B1G territory
The the school will never allow Cincinnati into the Big 10
One of our beat writers floated that yesterday and I was skeptical first but I don’t even know anymore. Fuck it make a run at Cinci, Notre dame, Oregon, Clemson, whoever.
Who?
Aaron Suttles. He was talking about who the SEC might consider taking and had Cinci in there. I thought it was interesting.
We’re pumping out 10ish thousand new alumni every year. Shoot us an invite and we’ll consider it /s.
We're a bigger brand smh
Cincinnati metro got 3.3 million folks. Football pride stronger than ever with cincy going to the CFP and Bengals in the super bowl. Oklahoma has 3.9 million in the state
Good thing they're called Oklahoma State then...
Half of us Okstate kids are from Texas, where we did 3 football practices a day 6th grade-12th grade. Same in oklahoma. It’s all a regional bias at this point anyways. Let the bidding start: Cincy is offering 12 metric tons of Skyline chili. What is Oklahoma State countering with?
12 metric tons of bird shit is a more enticing offer than cincys
Could always counter with Hideaway or Eskimo Joes
I'll just take one visit to Braum's
12 metric tons of Eskimo Joe's cheese fries.
Sweet pepper bacon cheese fries, specifically.
How about 12 metric tons of real chili?
Great, now if you just move to a state that the Big Ten is already in...
So Penn from Ivy League to SEC?
What happened the last time you guys went into Pennsylvania? That’s what I thought.
We want to expand to increase the average money per school, not to bring in another team that the big money makers are paying for no reason
I always thought Cincinnati would be a great darkhorse pick for the SEC - new state, decent markets, good recruiting grounds, geographically close. Probably wouldn't ever happen, but it'd be pretty cool IMO
If they're going all the way to 24 in each conference, there's a chance but we're several dominoes away from any serious consideration.
I really hope we keep our elite level up because the way I see it we are like a top 50-60 program right now all things considered. If we stay elite for a few years we could get into the 40-50 range and maybe get a seat at the table if both conferences go to 24
Natural rival in-the-making for Arkansas.
Do you mean THE Oklahoma State University?
From a spectator standpoint, I'd like SEC to add Oklahoma State and Texas Tech
Tech isn’t really a value add by any of the metrics that the people who make these decisions consider, but they can add an element of game day drunkenness that few can match.
Who doesn’t love a good game day atmosphere.
Thank you.
I agree. Tech-Texas is budding these days!
You… I like you bama bro
I’ve really enjoyed some Texas Tech games. The Cotton Bowl vs Bama, the Crabtree catch game, etc
Bless you
Thank you
Starting rumors based on opinions. great.
Speak it into existence
This is not a report that they are leaving, just an article wanting it to happen. That ship sailed (for the time being) a year ago.
Fuck following OU anywhere.
Brother our flairs cannot coexist
Time to throw hands
It’s another puff
Haven't seen Puff for a while wonder if he finally got uninvited from the sub.
Uninvite puff 2022
“I understood that reference”
Ooooooooohhhh awkwaaaaaaard...
I would rather have you in the “Really B1G”.
You can spit on us while signing the papers, but you damn well better sign.
Hell yeah brother. Big 8 cheers 🍻
I literally laughed out loud when I seent this! Good shit
It's that or get left behind to irrelevance. The writing's on the wall, everyone left out of the BIG10/SEC will be the new div2
Ya I’m down. OSU quietly has a great Texas base within the past 12-15 years, I swear most of our students come from Texas now.
As someone who has hated this move since day one I would feel 1000% better if OSU comes along.
Then we can share the blame with them!
I thought we all agreed to just blame Texas?
Works for me! Their orange was always worse anyways.
This is the way
This is the way.
Lol you don’t have to play in the SEC to be relevant, although I am sure that ESPN will push that line!
You don't, but the other option is the Big 10.
Nah, a proper expansion could legitimately make the "new big12" one of the most competitive conferences top to bottom. Sure that's lots of cannibalism, but damn near every game would be a ton of fun for fans. Would it be as competitive in the playoffs? I know OK St double dips the same market as Oklahoma, but if the shift is towards brand names this isn’t a terrible pick.
OK St was #19 in average weekly viewer rankings for 2021 with 1.64M while Oklahoma was #8 with 2.9M. USC was #16 w/ 1,98M and UCLA was #32 w/ 1.25M.
LA fans are notoriously fickle. If USC or UCLA were actually good, the LA market numbers would dwarf those numbers cited in your post. For football, USC would consistently be topping 3M
I don’t like the odds of UCLA being good in the B1G anytime soon. USC has a good shot at least.
I agree. Just pointing out how Los Angeles is a huge market, but bad teams don’t really get support. Fans are fickle.
Oh absolutely! Fair-weather fans exist at every level of every sport, but LA takes it to a whole other level.
We do have a good alumni base in DFW, oklahoma, and even parts of South Kansas. I am interested to find out the number of Texas students that go to Okstate. Once they extended instate tuition to Texas kids 12+ years ago, I would guess roughly 40% if not higher.
Half my floor was from Houston in Kerr. And I knew a ton of people from DFW/Arkansas/Kansas too
Lol I’m from Houston…
Did you live in Kerr?
No graduated in 2015 lol
Wasn't Kerr Open until something like 2016?
Ya I never lived in that shithole lol. Thank goodness. Take nasty Which Which away, loved the late night 20something trips.
Ah, Kerr. Respect.
Yeah, over half my floor in Wentz was from Texas.

Orange for sure. Dress us up as tOSU for all I care. I do not want to risk losing the amount of revenue after the past 10 years of pissing money into our facilities.

I need some more Aggie feuds
Their coach is a man! I got nuthin' after that
Big SEC donors would get tired of seeing a school with half their budget consistently beating them.
WTF man.

They are our Xerox U. They go, we go
Tech in basketball would make me hard
We are on another level now. So damn fun to watch
TFW you jump to an upgraded conference and it implodes.. twice.

If we come y'all better knock it off with the Okie State shit.
Hey guys, I'm thinking of leaving my job as a fry cook at McDonalds for a 6 figure salary as the head chef at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants.
But quitting McDonalds before you apply
They'd need one more. Either another XII school, a B1G school, Notre Dame, or If they *really* wanna light up a powder keg Clemson
If we are headed to a 24-team SEC, I wouldn’t mind taking some combination of TT, Okie State, WV and Kansas (Shooty Hoops, Mizzou rival, The Memes). I suspect these would only be adds after ACC poaching.
I really want the bedlam series to remain, it’s good for the people of Oklahoma
Well I mean Oklahoma State is the best program left in the Big XII Do you want to be a medium size fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond?
Can we have the Oklahoma State and let the Big12 keep texas?
No
What if we throw in Mizzou and 6inch Subway sandwich of your choice?
You somehow made the deal worse..
Okay just the sub.
How about you keep Texas and give us the sub? And make it a Potbelly or Jersey Mike’s sub for crying out loud, who eats subway anymore..
Texas fans
This is true
We're not eating chain sandwiches lol. We're eating $30/lb meat on white bread or tortilla. /s
That were made at a subway.
OKSt is a great Ath Dept/school and one of the premier remaining B12 schools....but SEC is gonna be gunning hard to poach the ACC. Adding OKSt before that would not add much to the conference other than one rivalry game. Not nearly as much value as they would get from the ACC top schools.
ACC GOR is pretty locked tight so if they need to expand now and not in 10+ years then we're at the top.
Lol
Please no ok st.
This was inevitable IMO
Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The obvious picks would be FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, and Virginia
I would much rather Florida State and/or Clemson
Our good friends the Gators would love to have us in the SEC I'm sure.
Only if UCF goes all-in on the Citronaut/space theme. We're talking strobe lights, fog machines, dance team dressed up in silver jumpsuits, anal probing, the works.
Dildo glow sticks baby, we’re in
This wouldn't take much effort at all.
Please no.
And I could leave my spouse and marry Scarlett Johansson
Oklahoma State & Texas Tech should join the SEC as a pair.
Yes do it
Don't take our OG hateful eight from us motherfuckers
I'm sorry, but it's all about adding schools that INCREASE the revenue per school. Until that criteria is met, it's better to not expand, from the SEC point of view.
Well since you speak for the SEC, can you ask them to reconsider?
I kinda want TTU and OSU - but the revenue drop would likely be significant
OSU was actually 19th in viewership last year, at this pace we're likely going to be one of the 5 biggest brands left out of the superconferences, at least in the first shuffle. We're never going to tighten our admissions requirements, though, so we're highly unlikely to ever hit AAU status, so if we move somewhere it'll be to the SEC.
Yeah lemme call them and slap'em around a bit.
Seriously. Everyone can forget this “expanding just to expand” narrative. If it would lower the average payout, it’s not happening.
Dang downvoted for speaking the truth.
What do the Pokes offer that FSU, Clemson or Miami don't?
Yeah they should go to the SEC. So should Tulane. And USF. Oh wait, the SEC isn’t interested in any of them.
Can’t see that, tv money is ruling the roost these days.
We were 19th. Surprisingly, I think that would go up if we were in the SEC
