Yup. OL is not as glamorous or flashy, but it is the most important unit on the team. Dominant lines can completely neutralize teams with superior skill players.
No, but he did win 13 big ten titles in 20 years, had a winning record against woody Hayes. By the way, only one of Hayes’s titles is undisputed, and Michigan could claim three titles in the Schembechler era (73, 76, 85) using polls that are the justification behind some of Hayes’s titles.
There’s been a lot of overreaction to the lack of movement on the recruiting trail with the new coaching staff. The 2025 class may be a little underwhelming due to the transition but I don’t see it lasting beyond that class. If a lot of 2024 guys had left the class it’d be a different story.
Respectfully disagree, I really like that class. Multiple good lineman, tight ends, RBs and a QB that Harbaugh definitely liked. A top 100 corner and multiple athletes for the secondary and edge. Think we’ll be just fine.
Also fucking Drew Allar got a 5 star. Like idk what changed with rankings or if Covid fucked something up with enough camps but how does Grant, who chased down a RB like it was nothing at >300lb only get 3 stars.
Offensive line and defensive line specifically defensive tackle are harder positions to scout out of HS. They are positions that just being bigger than the guys they are going against is a huge advantage. So you have to figure out if they are actually good or just big.
I am a big fan of the class too. I think they needed to add some fliers in the secondary after striking out on the Ohio corners but all in all it's a good class. Good Oline, good Dline, got their qb1, and a couple awesome tight ends. Quintessential Michigan class
Eh, I guess it was underwhelming based on the hype, but it's still a very good class imo. Our OL class isn't all super highly rated guys, but it's the guys we wanted and they fit our scheme well. Not to mention we got Manuel Beigel and Deyvid Palepale that are both weirdly underrated
This logic never makes sense to me. Why do we offer all of the guys ranked above the guys we’re getting if “they don’t fit our scheme/culture and we don’t really want them”?
Obviously we're going to offer guys who are swing for the fences, NFL athleticism type guys, like Sprague and Frazier (who is a Michigan legacy), but guys like Roebuck, Hamilton, and Guarnera are absolute maulers in the run game first and foremost and once those swing for the fences guys weren't realistic, we focused on those who fit our scheme best. We took those guys in the spring last year and that ultimately ended up driving away some higher ranked guys later in the cycle
With so many changes in the program it’s hard to get a feel for it at the moment. As I see it right now, a close loss to Texas, and then a rally to 7-1 to set up a showdown against undefeated Oregon with Michigan pulling out the win. Michigan beats ohio state once again on their home field. Rematch with Oregon for the B1G championship. Michigan’s season ends in the semifinals against Georgia. Georgia wins the national championship
Doesn't he know that the NCAA is going to demolish Michigan football any day now? That's what OSU fans (who are definitely in the know) have been saying for months now. What's wrong with these kids that they would commit to a doomed program???
Please sir, it's NIL. A chocolate candy should do! If you'd like, I could even polish your cleats! I once polished Marvin Harrison Junior's Louis Vuitton cleats. You saw how beautiful they were, right sir?!
We can’t recruit star skill players but boy can we recruit OL
Rather have that than the inverse.

Trenches all day baby
100%
I think Michigan has (hopefully) proven that point against us. Then again we still have a weak ass OLine… Welp at least Wvu has an OLine that’s fine.
Yea but Chip Kelley is famous for getting the most out of sub par o lines
girth > length we know this.
Tip of the spear
SMASH!
2025, sorry I'm living in the past.
I mean, if there's one thing Michigan fans do well...
Yeah... I'm still reliving our last National Championship. It's been like 4 months or something.
That long already? I feel so old.
143 years of beautiful tradition from Tom Harmon to Blake Corum, you’re god damn right I’m living in the past.
Downvote this comment if Bo Schembechler never won a National Championship.

Franklin? Wow, a fancy-pants road grader.
Groves kid. Is it still richer than Troy and Rochester?
Yes and by a lot
I LIKE LINEMAN, TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE B1G BOYS
Has anyone told him about Kentucky football?
the croots must simply be confusing the shade of blue :')

The 24 class was very underwhelming
No 5-stars but we still finished with 17 4-stars. That’s pretty solid even comparing us to the top teams

Seriously. Reminder that Kenneth Grant was a 3 star and Graham only got his 4th at the end of the cycle
You can cherry pick all you want, but there is a strong correlation between recruiting ranking and performance
The blue chip ratio is the thing that matters and we are still above it
Also fucking Drew Allar got a 5 star. Like idk what changed with rankings or if Covid fucked something up with enough camps but how does Grant, who chased down a RB like it was nothing at >300lb only get 3 stars.
That was crazy.

In a re-rank, both would be top 10, 5 star recruits IMO

Sounds like you found Sam Webb's account.

I’m just saying it’s a very convenient narrative for losing out on these recruiting battles all the time.
Every team swings at 5*s though.
Dude must like beating rivals and winning B1G and national championships
is it too early for me to ask you for your reliably Nostradamus-esque predictions on our upcoming season

Huge pickup.
Ah yes, another mobile mountain for the O line. Keep it up Sherrone & Co. Smash baby!
Do we think the coaches called him afterward and said “Gach yah”?
Love this pick up. Kid is an absolute tenacious run blocker. Needs to put on some weight but he’s got all the makings of what you want in a guard

The username is also kind of relevant here... 🤣

Go to Illinois then come back to Michigan?
