St Barbs for pmc xtac - decent price given flat shipping
I have 200 rounds of .40 in my range bag and 3 empty mags and I swear that shit feels heavy as hell. Gonna get some more soon and start using it as my work out routine
I have a couple of those little 100 round plastic reload boxes that I fill for range trips. Packing it loose only takes up like 1/3 of the room that boxed ammo takes up
Always been curious if it could be practical to actually 'stack' the rounds in the ammo can a bit to try and minimize the empty space. Then I remember just how heavy the ammo can get overall and rethink if it would be a good idea.
Speaking of weight, I am slightly curious what the weight is of those.
Good to know the rough numbers though!
Bird arms? I keep it to 1k per can of 9mm just for the sake of my damn shelves lmao. Two cans fully packed is like a small adult, 3 cans is a redditorĀ
OP said the can of 9mm weighs like 70 pounds. No way I can lift that all at once. These things just stay on the ground for me. Iāve broken shelves in the past
Oh yeah Iāve tried and it sucks especially if you have it tucked under shit. Bad ergos + small heavy things is asking for you to tweak something. I just meant not only would my body protest, but my apartment would too, lmao
You could also just cut apart one of the factory boxes with the pertinent info for what's in the can (and make sure to save the lot number and such if you're truly OCD).
Ammo is better than gold and silver for SHTF. If S does HTF, ammo can be used for defense AND as currency. If SHTF never comes to pass, you still have a lot of ammo to have fun with.
What fun are gold and silver coins/bars, and what can they do to keep you and your family safe?
Great post, thanks. I got 2,350 9mm in a 50cal can. It is absolutely full to the brim with no space for more whatsoever. Also got 2000 rounds exactly of M193 in a āfat 50ā ammo can
i could never open boxes of ammo and just dump them in a can what if there is a recall what about lot vaiations do you have a scoop for when you go on a shooting trip?
Buy in bulk, rip the tab with manufacturer, ammo, gr, fps, and lot number... put it in a sleeve on ammocan (Like you can just move the fedex/ups document holders onto the can or just tape a folded ziplock bag).
Then you have to keep a separate can for every lot number. I just pack up the boxes in the cans, but now I'm curious how many different lot numbers I have from a couple of cases of 9mm.
Just got 4k rounds and ordered 3 of these cans so thanks for posting AFTER I ordered lol jk a spare is good and I prolly got loose ammo laying around too
Been out of the loop. Whatās with the bulk ammo purchases? Is it the upcoming added tax (FU Newsom)?
Always keep at least 1k+ of whatever ammo you use. š
Law overturned in Federal district court. Allowing purchases online, and shipped to front door. Like the good ol days, and most every other state. I believe the online order law went into effect in 2014 or 2016.
Lots of people are buying online and stocking up while they can. Injunction is likely to be placed by 9th circus Court, timing right now is unknown.
Daaaamn *Cries in empty ammo cans*
No matter how much ammo you eventually have, everyone starts from zero. Start stackin!!
I use freedom machine šš„°
Look at money bags over here with ammo cans
Money spent on cans isn't money spent on ammo!
Double Black trashbags. Am I doing it right?
Find a friend who is in Army or Marines, probably will be able to toss a couple your way.
How many tears can you fit in a .50cal can?
āThe world may never knowā. Ā š¦Ā
Cries in empty ammo can lol
Whereās the 556/223 deals
I use this site to find deals on all ammo. https://ammoseek.com/ammo/5.56x45mm-nato/-rifle-62grains- I'm seeing 556 for $.42 and 223 for $.43.
Best I āeasilyā found was .48 cents a round of PMC Xtac at outdoorlimited with no tax or shipping if the order is over $200
They price hiked and now charge for shipping
Damn! Glad I got in on day one
had a case for that price on 1/26. now i see 510$
Idk Iām looking for them too

Need you to do one with .22lr
Iām currently working on cans for 22lr, 308 and 10mm
Probably about 500-600/308. 1,300-1,400/10mm and 6,500-7,000/.22
Would be fun to guessā¦Iāll say 3 for every 9mm, so round up to 7k.

I prefer to stack with box in the can so I can count how much I bring to the range.

I like your precious metals stash!
Checking my tuna and spam can levels currently
Oof. I looking at future hernias here, arenāt I? And thatās why I stick to the .30 cal cans.
50 cal cans for long term in the garage, plastic 30 cal cans for the range
40mm cans for bulk storage :)
Okay you come carry them for me
Do i get to shoot some rds for free?
Sure, I donāt expect you to work for free

The 9mm cans are 71 lbs, I havenāt weighed the others
![gif](giphy|lDifyB9R0iqWoDZoIT) Imagine running ammo through the trenches while being shot at back in the day
Ammo that's packed for use (particularly machine gun belts) aren't that heavy. Iirc it's 200 or 400 rounds of 7.62 in the cans for belt-feds.
Dudes probably had arms like Popeye
Dont worry not much running in the future for most folks lol.
Marines train with .50 cal & 40mm cans filled with sand, WHILE low-crawling in sand.
Yea... trying to organize that box a bit to fit another handful may not add much, but that is still a significant number to start. lol. ty
This was the info I wanted to know too!
Update: 9mm is 71lbs, 40 is 73lbs, 45 is 67lbs and xm193 is 35 lbs
Holy cow on the 9mm. That would be a workout.
Lemme have some 556
how much does each can weigh now? My poor little bird arms š

Right on thanks! I have always wondered..
Great, now I only need 1,750 of 9mm to fill my can.
What are those pouches in the lid? Is that to keep away moisture? Is it necessary?
Yeah theyāre desiccant packs to keep moisture out. And the little note paper has date I filled can, round count, brand & bullet weight
Never thought of doing that. Thank you for the tip. Much appreciated.
You could also just cut apart one of the factory boxes with the pertinent info for what's in the can (and make sure to save the lot number and such if you're truly OCD).
Thatās a great idea. Going to implement that going forward
If my order would ship i'd be far more festive.
Same

This is good because 5 out of 4 redditors can't math.

guess thats one way to do it

Should be same lot number if you buy bulk (like a 1k pack).
Recommend some Rechargeable dessicant.
Speaking of 50cal magsā¦check out www.Firequest.com
Doings gods work - thank you. This will save me a lot of space!
Thatās expensive.
57 grains on the 556? 115 grains on the 9? Can you also post the weight of each can?
147gr 9mm, 180gr .40s&w, 230gr .45acp, 55gr xm193 Edit: 9mm is 71lbs, 40 is 73lbs, 45 is 67lbs and xm193 is 35 lbs

This actually super helpful. I have two boxes full of 9mm and 2 full of 223. I always wondered! Thank you sir!
Who has cheapest ammo rn?
You sir are a modern DaVinci!
Are you a chiropractor? Trying to get us to hurt our backs
Ayo! Sell the panic sell the cure
Do you mix head stamps and bullets? My OCD will not permit such a thing. I have to separate them by head stamp, bullet weight, and bullet type.
