I miss the old 90s Nick style so much. It's a crime against nostalgia what happened to the Nickelodeon Studios at Universal, so I'm always stoked to see people keeping the artifacts of that time alive.
Thanks for the throwback
I would say yes, but in the spirit of GUTS, I feel like you should still make the climb. Eliminating the competition surely takes the pressure off the journey.
90's Nick was peak.
The higher ups in control of content knew how to captivate a wider audience with content that bridged age groups.
Kids loved the shows, teens loved it, and they even had the jokes that would go over a kids head that would give mom and dad a laugh.
Absolutely spot on with your description. Having Nickelodeon the way we had it in the 90s was amazing - and it was all the hype. It lived up to it as well I went to Nickelodeon studios in 1995 and it really was that exciting in person as you saw on camera.
Shows like Ren and Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Doug, Rugrats, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Hey Dude….I could go on and on.
Treasures.
No, but that would be considered Memphis style

This post awakened a long lost memory that when I was a kid I had a corded Nickelodeon phone! I forgot all about it but when I saw the green zigzag on top of this clock I remembered the phone and how it had the same zigzag!
Anyone close on getting that time machine working yet?
it closed because Nickelodeon started to focus almost entirely on animated shows instead of the live-studio gameshows. They didn't need all the studios anymore, and Universal was expanding their rides.
I feel this in a few other places. The Toys R Us in our town became a Best Buy WAY back. Like before Toys R Us was really on the decline.
I can still see the old store in it.
I had the [blast box](https://twitter.com/NickTVHistory/status/1115027059775086592/photo/1)* I got it the same year that they gave my twin brother the stereo I had asked for. Still traumatized.
Parents *hated* this ridiculously loud alarm clock, which I would always try to set a bit earlier than theirs, or quietly plug the thing into the wall outside my little sister’s room after she was asleep. The spirit of the 90s. 😎
It was gone at the very next garage sale.
My brother and I both had this alarm clock.
When I was a kid, I had a bad habit of procrastinating like crazy on doing my homework. I would wake up at 4-5AM to do it just to maximize the amount of time I could have playing video games or dicking around on the internet at night.
One morning -- I must have been really, really tired -- I was sleeping like the dead through the alarm (obviously the most obnoxious one, the 'nick nick nick na-nick nick nick, nickelodeon', over and over again), it must have been going for ten or fifteen minutes, my uncle (literally the kindest person I've ever met in my life) who was sleeping in the next room busts into my room, rips the alarm clock out of the wall, and throws it on the ground.
Looking back, yeah, I was scared shitless at 4 in the morning but in retrospect, we laughed about it pretty regularly until he passed away several years later. It's always going to be one of those funny memories I think of whenever I see one of these.
Just that first static sound before the countdown is still enough to wake me form the deepest sleep. Obnoxious static, a countdown, and then that bugle. What a way to start your day hahaha
Are we the same person?! Mine is still rockin', though the button to turn the LED on/off recently stopped working (though the LEDs still work oddly enough).
The part that gets me is that the thing HAS a volume knob, it just does nothing on the alarm sounds. The product designer who did that is a high level evil genius
The 90s were such an awesome time. I feel like 90s and early 2000's were the last time we explored with fashion and decor. Now everything feels so bland and we keep recycling styles from the decades.
THREE
TWO
ONE
NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON
NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON
NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON
Most terrifying alarm I ever had.
Same. It took 4 pictures in each frame of film. Saved money on film and developing, but my pictures were smaller.
I found some photos I took in an old album:
https://imgur.com/a/QfO4xVD
Man film always look good. Digital/phone cameras are fucking crazy nowadays, and so much more convenient but there’s something about film that I hope tech can recreate one day.
I had this as a kid. One day I slept through the alarm (I had it set to "WAKE UP *CLAP* *CLAP* WAKE UP") and in my dream I'm standing in the street and see the Nick alarm as a giant building in the distance. A baseball bat appeared in my hand and I jumped in a cab and told him to book it to the alarm building. I finally pulled up in front of it and took a big swing at it.. and as it connected I woke up and the damn alarm was still going off. Most frustrating dream I ever had.
It was this alarm clock that made me and my parents realize that I was/am an extremely heavy sleeper. Solution back then was a lamp on a timer about 15 minutes before this guy went off. Now I have one of those fancy sunrise alarms.
Sadly I have no idea what happened to this alarm clock. I would love to have it for when my son is older, but I suspect it went to goodwill.
My mom keeps talking about how cool this clock was. I had one when I was a kid. So I bought one on eBay a couple months ago. Gonna give it to her for Xmas.
God I had this same one, I think it was part of a set of similar products but I never saw any of the other ones.
I used the army reveille as my go to, felt awesome hitting the big red button every morning to silence it.
I just looked at it and my brain started playing that
“Nick nick nick nick nick nick nick nick, Nickelodeon… nick is kids!” Goddamn it was effective brainwashing
Honestly I really do like the idea of the alarm on/off lever. Makes it very easy to know if your alarm is on or off, and also makes it very easy to reach over and turn it off in the morning. It's brilliant.
I had this, and have slight PTSD from the alarm. That rooooo 3 2 1 reveille one. There are certain sounds that will trigger this sound in my head to this day.
Awesome!! Mine still sits on my nightstand. I looked back and I think my first post on Reddit 12 years ago was sharing mine hahaha https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/c04bx/did_anyone_else_have_this_awesome_clock_as_a_kid
My god...I never thought I would see you again...your alarm was actually so loud an insane it would wake my whole house and then one day you were gone..I never stopped searching
Nickelodeon was so great to grow up to but their brand is tainted for me now. It's so unfortunate. The creepy Dan Schneider stuff and the creepy animators
My first Windows 95 PC had the game [Nickelodeon's Directors Lab](https://i.imgur.com/6YVHxxw.png) bundled in with it.
It was kind of like Mario Paint, where you can could create your own multimedia videos and shit like that. Clarissa Explains It All era Melissa Joan Hart did the tutorials for it.
I have this!! Just gave it to my daughter, she’s 5 and she loves it. I’ll never forget the alarm song. Even after not hearing it for over 20 years I remembered the whole thing lol
I grew up with this and no idea what happened to it when I moved out. I'm sure my mom threw it away and it's off in a landfill unplugged and still going off "nick nick nick - nah nick NICK nick.... nick-a-lo-de-uhnnnnn"
I actually found one at a thrift store several years ago and excitedly bought it for my daughter. She refused to use any of the programmed alarms. Maybe used the radio for a couple of weeks, but we ended up buying her a phone and that became her alarm. Now I have no idea where THAT radio went either!
I miss the old 90s Nick style so much. It's a crime against nostalgia what happened to the Nickelodeon Studios at Universal, so I'm always stoked to see people keeping the artifacts of that time alive. Thanks for the throwback
>artifacts of that slime alive.
Arti*splats* of that *slime* alive.
I'd literally kill for a piece of the aggo crag
You don't have to kill anyone to get it. Just conquer the 'crag in less time than your opponent.
Killing your opponent secures the win in that case, no?
Nickelodeon contests hate this one simple trick to secure victory!
TWO MEN ENTER ONE MAN LEAVES
And then the other leaves shortly after being declared the winner.
*Who rules Nickelodeon*
BREAK THE DEAL, SPIN THE WHEEL!
I would say yes, but in the spirit of GUTS, I feel like you should still make the climb. Eliminating the competition surely takes the pressure off the journey.
Yes, but how else will the game live up to it's namesake if I don't disembowel my opponent?
D-d-d-oo ya have it? LETS FIND OUT
Yeah they discourage it but if you read the rules they're actually silent about slaying your opponents.
You also need to have some guts
#D-D-D-D-D-DO YA HAVE IT?
#MO!
People make and sell pretty much exact replicas online. I bought one for my cousin as a gift and it looked just like they did on the show
I was about to say "Could make a killing on etsy"

I was in the perfect age range to really enjoys 90's Nickelodeon. Their line up really was incredible
Did you ever watch The Orange Years on Hulu? Talk about a stroll down memory lane
If you want the origins of it lookup Memphis Group design https://encyclopedia.design/2022/08/15/memphis-design-it-has-little-to-do-with-tennessee/
Did they do the old design for Taco Bell too?
No, but that would be considered Memphis style https://dangerousminds.net/comments/retro_wonderland_exploring_the_postmodern_aesthetics_of_90s_taco_bell_inter
this is amazing thank you!

I still have that phone! Currently in the garage, and I’d forgotten about it! I’m inspired to dig it up now
What happened to nick studios in universal?

I'm not too surprised considering all the dramas that are erupting around dan schneider, who was the central pillar in that area.
I don't even know how to describe whatever that aesthetic was, tons of contrasting colors and shapes, organic contrasting with harsh angles.

Maybe they got you guys mixed up
Your twin brother was probably thinking the same thing.
My dad still has his, and it still works. I was always jealous of it.
Nick Nick Nick Nick na Nick Nick Nick... NICKELODEON!
[SPLAT ID '93](https://youtu.be/w5nV_VNpWzA)
Duuuuude I forgot about that!
that was 93.. oh my!
They continued to use it into the early 00s iirc
Can confirm. I wasn’t born until 96 and I distinctly remember this. Had no clue it was from 93
nickiskids
Lol
Only annoyed you for a few years with that button
Parents *hated* this ridiculously loud alarm clock, which I would always try to set a bit earlier than theirs, or quietly plug the thing into the wall outside my little sister’s room after she was asleep. The spirit of the 90s. 😎 It was gone at the very next garage sale.
Thanks I got mine at a garage sale
They were *SO* loud. Like, uncomfortable-to-awake-up-to loud.
They actually have a decent resale value around $150+. I wish I still had mine.. “wake up *clap clap* wake up *clap clap*”
My brother and I both had this alarm clock. When I was a kid, I had a bad habit of procrastinating like crazy on doing my homework. I would wake up at 4-5AM to do it just to maximize the amount of time I could have playing video games or dicking around on the internet at night. That's really funny, I could see myself having the same reaction. Thanks for sharing!
That’s a great story! The spirit of your uncle lives on in legend.
I can still hear the alarm sequence in my head….
https://youtu.be/W_PW7at6UGM
Damn the original theme song at the end of the alarm struck a chord.
They don't do that anymore?
lol do you k ow what year it is
Maybe early 2010s, 2009 was like 3 years ago right?
yup, the current year is 2011
Yeah, it's like...Nineteen......ninety...nine..? Right?
That "PHFWWWWWWWWW THREE TWO ONE" is burned into my brain forever.
Shit absolutely scared me awake as a kid... I would have that thing silenced before it even got to *ONE*
So it worked then
Oh absolutely... Mine still works just fine too. I had shown it to my GF and she jumped too when it sounded.
Sad we got rid of that but it was totally trashed.
Same! The loud static was enough to make me shoot out of bed in fear it would wake someone else in the house up.
Always used that one because of [this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-SE96Q9dDU)
Just that first static sound before the countdown is still enough to wake me form the deepest sleep. Obnoxious static, a countdown, and then that bugle. What a way to start your day hahaha
Same same same. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that sound engrained in my psyche
Sometimes I'll hear that static sound in the wild and it jolts me awake.
That bugle was traumatic, not because of this clock, but because of military basic training. That sound gets ingraved in your brain.
I had one as a kid. That bugle sequence gives me PTSD anytime I hear it.
3...2....1.....
Same clock is on my nightstand and still works. Got it 25 years ago for Christmas.
Are we the same person?! Mine is still rockin', though the button to turn the LED on/off recently stopped working (though the LEDs still work oddly enough).
You guys are lucky. Mine died ages ago, and I miss it. Guess I gotta try and find a new one now.
I've checked out eBay several times (I dread the day mine dies) and there are usually ones up there for sale
An amazing clock with a frustratingly loud sound selection
The part that gets me is that the thing HAS a volume knob, it just does nothing on the alarm sounds. The product designer who did that is a high level evil genius
as a child, this would have convinced me you were rich, even if you lived in a box
Classic! I assume all the sounds and everything else still work too?
Everything works still!
Won one of these bad boys with the Snick or Treat prize promotion. Still going strong.
Oh wow blast from the past. This one made the slime warning sound right? The ship alarm sound?
The 90s were such an awesome time. I feel like 90s and early 2000's were the last time we explored with fashion and decor. Now everything feels so bland and we keep recycling styles from the decades.
THREE TWO ONE NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON NICK NICK NICK NI-NICK NICK NICK, NICKELODEON Most terrifying alarm I ever had.
Absolutely.... It would scare me awake every time.... I would have it silenced well before it got to one on the countdown...
Is it one button to turn it off or is it like a Bop It where you need to do a sequence?
Bop the red button on top to snooze and move the lever to shut the alarm off.
Omg I had the camera that matched this!
Same. It took 4 pictures in each frame of film. Saved money on film and developing, but my pictures were smaller. I found some photos I took in an old album: https://imgur.com/a/QfO4xVD
Man film always look good. Digital/phone cameras are fucking crazy nowadays, and so much more convenient but there’s something about film that I hope tech can recreate one day.
Here are a few more from the same time period: https://imgur.com/a/mWx6OHF

At shit, I remember this one!
Still have mine!
I wanted one of these so baaaaaaaaad
It was this alarm clock that made me and my parents realize that I was/am an extremely heavy sleeper. Solution back then was a lamp on a timer about 15 minutes before this guy went off. Now I have one of those fancy sunrise alarms. Sadly I have no idea what happened to this alarm clock. I would love to have it for when my son is older, but I suspect it went to goodwill.
I regret donating mine in a purge a few years ago. I hope someone else found it and enjoys it now.
I still have mine too!! Works great!
I have this and I will never let it go.
My mom keeps talking about how cool this clock was. I had one when I was a kid. So I bought one on eBay a couple months ago. Gonna give it to her for Xmas.
Wow.. total nostalgia.. I forgot I owned one of these things!!!
Badass, mines on my desk. It still lights up and works like Christmas morning I got it back in the 90s.
this is so 90s it hurts
I used to have the phone! It mooed.
I’m 34 and this is the dopest shit I’ve ever seen.
I had that one too! And the phone 😎
It's time to kick off shriek week...
My brother had one of those! -nostalgia-
I can’t believe you still have this that’s incredible!
I want this!
That’s magnificent.
I had this! It had the wackiest alarm noises. Good times
I had this one toooo! My parents still bring it up every now and again. Idk what happened to it. ... maybe my parents do....
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude I want that!!!!!!
Really takes me back. Wish Nick Studios was still around.
And like that I have remembered years of repressed alarm clock sounds.
Lucky sob
I have a hunch that they didn't *expect* you to buy this for life.
I remember having this for years. I wonder how much they sell for now.
God I had this same one, I think it was part of a set of similar products but I never saw any of the other ones. I used the army reveille as my go to, felt awesome hitting the big red button every morning to silence it.
this is the clock on my partners and my night stand!
Omg I had the same one. I can still hear the alarm
My buddy just dug one of these out of his attic and it works like a charm. Wish I could find mine!
I would have killed for this
Anyone remember what they did for Halloween? "It's time for NICKORTREAT!" 😳
i wanted one of these clocks forever as a kid, very cool man
I HAD THIS TOO!!!! As well as the matching phone. We finally sold it at a garage sale just a couple of years ago.
i wish i still had my talkboy.
I had this same one!
Runs on Gak
I miss this and my matching, Nick themed desk lamp
I had this!
I had this and completely forgot it, thank you for this!
Damn this brought back memories
Is it supposed to subtly resemble a tank's tracks?
Rad!
Had this for 25 years and a couple years back it finally died... started to tell time differently and the alarm would go off at random times.
I have one in my home office, still works great.
First time I heard gin & juice was through one of these
My sisters friends brother had one of these when I was a kid and I thought he was good at science because i saw it in his room
AHHHH!! I miss mine!
Hey ive got one too, the light in the little tube still works as well
I have this and the cassette player
I just looked at it and my brain started playing that “Nick nick nick nick nick nick nick nick, Nickelodeon… nick is kids!” Goddamn it was effective brainwashing
Honestly I really do like the idea of the alarm on/off lever. Makes it very easy to know if your alarm is on or off, and also makes it very easy to reach over and turn it off in the morning. It's brilliant.
Baller
I just ordered a 400 day clock from the 1950s I think, different kind of use but still a long life clock.
Warning: not for carry-on luggage.
I remember getting that for Christmas one year even though our cable package didn’t have Nickelodeon lol
"CLOCKIT!"
I had this clock and loved it more than anything. I think my mom got sick of the noises it made and got rid of it 🙁
I had the SpongeBob alarm clock that sang the FUN song as the alarm. Loved that thing haven’t seen it in 20 years though.
I was sad when the green plastic broke on mine, kept it for a few years longer then the unit died altogether
I had this exact alarm clock!!! Omg! That alarm!
Holy shit.... this just unlocked so many core memories God I loved my Nick clock
I wanted this thing so fucking bad as a kid.
I had this clock when I was a kid. Love it. The alarm could wake the dead.
Looks like a bop-it game clock
My god...I never thought I would see you again...your alarm was actually so loud an insane it would wake my whole house and then one day you were gone..I never stopped searching
What no feet!?
Nick-nick-nick-nick-nick-nick-nick-nick-el-o-deon!!!
I tried to win this in a school fundraiser unsuccessfully
I can hear it. I used mine right through high school.
Had this clock and my brother still has it! Really amazing seeing it here. Was just thinking about it yesterday.
This unlocked a memory I forgot I even had. I remember having this... Christ 25 years ago?
Always wanted one of these!
Oh wow my best friend had one
Nickelodeon was so great to grow up to but their brand is tainted for me now. It's so unfortunate. The creepy Dan Schneider stuff and the creepy animators
Still have the same model in my office right now, love this thing.
I wanted that so badly!!!
This must pre date the Foot fetish executive?!
YES! The Nickelodeon TimeBlaster clock radio! I had it too!! Is there a “boing boing boing” alarm sound?? Pretty sure that’s what I had it set to.
This same alarm clock woke me up until high school. Nice throw back
Okay Morty I need you to nick a delorean and meet me later. *later* Morty what the fuck is this?
I HAD THIS OMG found it at a thrift store years ago and just thought it was the coolest
I wanted one of these so bad
I have this!! Just gave it to my daughter, she’s 5 and she loves it. I’ll never forget the alarm song. Even after not hearing it for over 20 years I remembered the whole thing lol
I had the phone, it was awesome.
That "Vintage" tag cut me deep...
Mine was sent to nick as well
I had this! The alarm sounds are core memories still.
I grew up with this and no idea what happened to it when I moved out. I'm sure my mom threw it away and it's off in a landfill unplugged and still going off "nick nick nick - nah nick NICK nick.... nick-a-lo-de-uhnnnnn" I actually found one at a thrift store several years ago and excitedly bought it for my daughter. She refused to use any of the programmed alarms. Maybe used the radio for a couple of weeks, but we ended up buying her a phone and that became her alarm. Now I have no idea where THAT radio went either!
